Reviews for Crewe Hall - QHotels

Review 1:Crewe Hall is one of the most beautiful places we have stayed, I suppose it was the best time of the year, but amazing all the same, Our room was lovely and as for the Breakfast, there was everything you could wish for and more, we will be coming back again soon!!!!

Review 2:We thought the pool area and Jacuzzi were to small for the amount of people there.also staying in the main house we were kept awake at night by the disco because there was a wedding on.

Review 3:Loved the room

Review 4:Very well appointed room. Excellent bathroom. Unfortunately I have a bad back problem and had requested that I would like a twin room with hard mattresses as I can't sleep on soft saggy mattresses. When I arrived I requested a room change with harder mattresses and was told that all the beds were the same. I know this was not true as I spoke to other guests who were also attending the wedding of Neil and Alina Stalker. I was unable to sleep that night and it ruined the wedding for me. The next day I asked again to be moved and was given the same answer, we decided to leave in the evening and not sleep the second night. As I was leaving after paying in full for two nights, the young man from behind the reception desk, who had dealt with everything, said 'let me know if you need anything!!!!!!' They had put a bed board under my bed which was futile because the bed base already had a solid top.

Review 5:The cooked breakfast was awful. The food was clearly being reheated several days in a row. We went down very early one morning and the food was not freshly cooked. A real shame as the dinner was fine, although bar food below par. We expected more. The floor of the restuarant was filthy - something you notice with little ones crawling about!

Review 6:Hotel staff were very helpful - including upgrading our room to superior double as there is confusion as to what exactley this is on booking.com. We expected a 4-poster, but apparently this costs extra. Porters, receptionist etc, really lovely and professional. Bedrooms very comfortable. The old building itself is quite beautiful and features such as the chapel host priceless pieces of art steeped in history.

Review 7:Pool did not open until 0900 on Christmas Eve, so faced with choice of using pool and missing breakfast or not using pool. Pool was main reason we booked to stay here. Door openings at both ends of hotel caused a strong draught in the corridors and must have wasted enormous amounts of heating energy. Hot tap in room too hot, could save more energy there too.

Review 8:Staff, room, architecture, history, breakfast, pool, parking

Review 9:Couple of mistakes in bar for lunch, but didn't spoil the experience.

Review 10:Have to say the customer service was excellent. Any time we asked for directions we were brought not just directed. Helped to and from rooms with luggage. Attended wedding here, and food was great start to finish.

Review 11:Rooms were a bit dusty which kind of Led me to believe they weren't cleaned properly

Review 12:The staff were excellent very present and nothing was a problem

Review 13:Rooms far too dark. Breakfast buffet rather tired. Everything seemed to have been there for a long time.however chef made poached eggs which were fine

Review 14:Stayed here many times. Rooms are a good size.

Review 15:The staff were very rude, made me feel as though I was in the way and even blamed me for their own mistakes.

Review 16:Not much. The Main building was lovely, but I did not stay there, never had the option.

Review 17:We visited for my birthday, the staff were very friendly. The whole place was lovely and clean! Very well presented place, we had a standard double which was huge and very comfy. We really Enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Review 18:I had booked a accessible room as I am disabled but the room had a double bed and I was sharing with my friend. I rang to ask if it was possible to have twin beds but was informed that accessible rooms were all double beds, I think they need to consider changing that policy as some disabled people might travel with a carer and would need separate beds.

Review 19:Lovely hotel first impression was how impressive it looked the staff were very friendly and happy to help.

Review 20:The staff had no idea how to conduct themselves appropriately for a 4 star hotel. Trying to take food away whilst still eating and joking about it. Staff arguing in earshot. A waiter shuffling about dragging his feet noisily. The main issue with the hotel though is the annexe. It's awful and most of your stay takes place there! It's a huge mistake not to have the restaurant in the old original part of the building which is truly stunning. Instead you are eating in a soulless cheap looking premiere inn style eatery. It's a HUGE mistake! Apart from check-in there's no opportunity to spend time in the beautiful old part of the hotel. A HUGE mistake! The room was nice - not 4 star - bathroom small, tiles cracked, heated towel rail not working. But otherwise comfortable and quiet. The annexe is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen! I can't believe they got planning permission to glue this huge mistake onto the back of an historic building. You walk through a glass corridor with views of what look like an office building. Why glass if this is the view? You use glass in architecture to let in light and focus the eye on something beautiful. This just draws attention to the huge mistake that is this annexe. Sorry to go on about it but it's so upsetting to see a beautiful building ruined in this way and to deny guests the opportunity of enjoying it fully.

Review 21:The evening meal was very nice. Plenty of vegetarian options. Very high standard of food and presentation.

Review 22:Complex check in as booking.com wouldn't recognise the forename and surname fields on the hotels booking in system. Intermittent WIFI and gym facilities has no wifi nor phone signal

Review 23:Lovely grounds, quiet hotel and lovely quality rooms.

Review 24:I was with a large party from a car club One meal was very poor and in a cramped room Some of the signage was very poor when finding your way to the public rooms - especially breakfast

Review 25:Large bedroom with good facilities

Review 26:Mealtimes were a bit chaotic! We felt they were trying to cater for too many covers. Perhaps several smaller dining areas would be much better.

Review 27:Amazing building and grounds. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Grant in the Brasserie was particularly pleasant and deserves a special mention!

Review 28:There was a plug socket right next to the bedside so I could charge my phone overnight and not have to try and find my way across the room in the dark in the morning to turn the alarm off. This was very convenient and I was most pleased.

Review 29:Check in experience terrible. I arrived at 3:30 and advised that "booking.com" was a bit naughty as they state that check is from 3pm, when it's actually between 3 and 4pm. I later checked their own website and discovered their website also states from 3pm. I didn't actually get into my room until 4:15. 1 staff member in particular, not very accommodating and pleasant. Spa not very relaxing when children's swimming lessons were taking place. Had to pay for a robe!

Review 30:Spa facilities good. Bed comfortable. Setting pretty

Review 31:Difficult to find postcode is misleading Overhead lights in dining room were too bright , needed to move !

Review 32:Staff very helpful and friendly, beautiful old building , very pleasant , nice spa facilities

Review 33:The food in the restaurant was average.

Review 34:Loved the venue, it was spotless. Although preferred the rooms in the old part of the building compared to the new build.

Review 35:Not much to dislike about this place - layout of the breakfast buffet could do with a process excellence review (eg. muesli next to the toaster and away from other cereals). Some of the hot food had quite obviously been sitting for some time - but perhaps that was impacted by my being an early breakfaster. Overall they are very minor issues with an otherwise fabulous property.

Review 36:It's a beautiful property with very comfortable and large rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Prices in the bar were reasonable.

Review 37:Superb hotel, friendly and efficient staff. Food excellent. Special mention to Grant in the restaurant who was very professional, efficient and extremely pleasant. Overall an extremely enjoyable stay.

Review 38:Room not clean, in the annexe which was awful. Woken at 2.30 in the morning with shouting and screaming from close to. We had to queue for every part of breakfast

Review 39:My room was disabled And not ben informed about that. I just needed to have a bath after long day but I couldn't. After check in, I came down to reception and no one was there , waited longer than 15 minutes and we had to call someone to assist us!!When I asked reception in the morning the reason to assign into this room, he said that I have should mention when book my room!! He was not even listen my complain and said that the were full last night! not worth how much I paid.

Review 40:The bar, for the size of the hotel was disappointing. Not a place to relax and have a drink. The loud choice of music doesn't appeal to everyone. Our allocated room in the new building I thought was a little below par.

Review 41:Architecture & history Lovely aspect, Food was good quality and value for money. Breakfast and dinner both excellent! Good wine selection. Chefs, servers and waiters were all helpful and knee their stuff.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:Lovely location, friendly staff and the most comfortable bed ever !. We stayed in the old part and was delighted with the room and all the facilities. Highly recommend.

Review 44:The staff were extremely welcoming and made you feel that nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good and varied and the old part hotel was full of character.

Review 45:shame I was only here for one night and with work

Review 46:amazing building especially the reception area. The new wing where I stayed and where the restaurant was located is modern but of a good standard. Quiet rooms with plenty of space. WIFI worked really well. All staff were really friendly

Review 47:A catalogue of errors. Check in appalling, had to wait for 3 consecutive phone calls and a walk-in to be dealt with before I was even acknowledged. A discarded room service tray from a previous guest was outside my room upon arrival and not removed for two full days. Food remains a let down for a hotel of this supposed grandeur and WiFi didn't reach my room.

Review 48:Excellent gym and pool. Interesting characterful room.

Review 49:Bar in old part was tiny. Not much seating. Seemed disjointed old and modern didn't blend well. Reception didn't give much info on arrival. Didn't know what was where. Reception staff on checkout were so slow only one person dealing with everyone and another member just standing around.outside at brasserie bar was really dirty and untidy. Bit odd to have a load of offices in the grounds and the nearness of the haulage company wasn't good.

Review 50:Parking. Gardens. Room spacious and comfortable.

Review 51:Nothing.

Review 52:Tha Staff were the best, most pleasant, well trained people we have ever met in a Hotel, fantastic , nothing to much trouble, what a team!!! Congratulions Crew Hall.

Review 53:Noise from wedding party - repeated banging of doors and raised voices - although this did not detract from the overall enjoyment of our stay.

Review 54:The architecture and history. Friendliness and efficiency of staff. Choice at breakfast.

Review 55:We had to pay for room service on delivery of food We had not been asked to set up a room account

Review 56:Position was good and we had a tremendous deal cost wise

Review 57:My food was fine, but my partner thought the burger was very dry, his breakfast wasn't good and a latte he had was cold and had to be replaced. ALso it took a very long time (more than 45 mins) for our burgers to arrive and that's all we had!

Review 58:Beautiful building; friendly, helpful staff. Comfy bed. My breakfast was very good.

Review 59:Restaurant service staff uninspiring and pastry /dishes overcooked. Seats and floor need cleaning in restaurant.pool area too busy to enjoy. Wedding reception too loud on Sunday night.

Review 60:Great welcome from reception. Room and facilities great. Location great.breakfast and evening meal nice.

Review 61:Beautiful setting and loved the old Hall. Welcoming reception and that followed from all staff throughout our two day stay. Very comfortable bed and lovely room in old part of the Hall. Thank you.

Review 62:In side hotel good

Review 63:The grounds and outside of the hotel was very tired and messy paper doped and many many cigarette ends. Generally the outside needs TLC most disappointing

Review 64:Our room very tired needs a makeover, curtains, wallpaper etc, it was also very noisy outside our room sounded like heating system or boiler ?

Review 65:The bed was very comfortable, bathroom very nice, staff very friendly

Review 66:Nothing - Crewe isn't a great place to visit!

Review 67:Everything was great. Lovely building, great room, great gym, wi-fi was really fast, good food and great service.

Review 68:Not overly keen on the pipe music whilst eating our meal as a group felt something a little more joyful was needed, but still relaxing.

Review 69:The staff were very helpful when booking as well as our stay at the hotel.

Review 70:The grounds are very untidy and there are weeds in the lawn in the modern quadrangle. Car parking is allowed too close to the Old Hall which could really do with being a bit more loved (some flowers perhaps?) and linked to the new hotel. Also the persistent music at breakfast and dinner was rather tacky. The radio service which was supposed to be on the television was simply not installed. The nearby business park is quite intrusive.

Review 71:I liked the staff who could not have been more obliging or friendly and the food which was very good indeed. The modern bedrooms very

Review 72:When we arrived we were told that the restaurant was fully booked for the Saturday night.Had we been contacted before we could have made a reservation for the Saturday. Also why have such a modern eating place in such a beautiful building.

Review 73:Had a fantastic time from the minute we walked into Crewe Hall for my nieces wedding. Everyone in every department where brilliant. Very helpful the whole weekend. Whether it was a lady cleaning your room. Staff in the hallway. At the bar/restaurant or reception, they made our weekend enjoy every minute of our stay. Well done all and thank you so much for making our weekend fantastic.

Review 74:The superior Room that was booked via booking.com was not what were allocated to us on checking in as this hotel does not have a superior Room as it's room type . Very disappointing :(

Review 75:Friendly staff ,excellent breakfast and awesome views from rooms in the main hall.

Review 76:Some of the staff were a little snotty about the children. Obviously doesn't Pride itself on being child friendly. The leisure attendant tried to refuse them access to the swimming pool even though there was 15 minutes left. Otherwise the staff were lovely and helpful

Review 77:Location and general high standards of everything.

Review 78:Bar closed early on Saturday night, staff not attentive, running of restaurant disorganised, room could be cleaner.

Review 79:Spacious comfortable room, good facilities, centrally located for our family get together

Review 80:SOME STAFF INATTENTIVE WITH POOR RESPONSE TO REQUESTS. RESIDENTS BAR DULL.

Review 81:INTERESTING HOTEL GREAT MIX OF OLD AND NEW. SOME OUTSTANDING STAFF. RECEPTION GOOD.

Review 82:Food stopped by 10 PM so had to order room service but have it delivered to the bar. Strange as you tjibk you could therefore just order bar food withtout the surcharge. The old bar is very dated

Review 83:The setting is so historical yet the rooms of a very high standard. Recommend you going for the old wing rather than the new modern wing

Review 84:The new addition, (the extension) is nothing special, a big let down in comparison to the original building.

Review 85:Crewe hall is a wonderful building, so much to look at

Review 86:no complaints really, perhaps a larger room service menu (after hours) would be better

Review 87:Loved the history of the place & feels like stepping back in time. The staff were very nice, especially the receptionist.

Review 88:I felt standards had dropped a little. Bedroom showed signs of wear with scuffs, marks and stains. Bath not very clean. Bistro chair stained. Plates cold for hot food.

Review 89:The amazing beautiful building in close proximity to Crewe, friendly staff and large bedrooms.

Review 90:Excellent country weekend getaway, the room in the main building was excellent and the staff were also very good. The main restaurant was good value for money, overall a good stay.

Review 91:Miles of corridors to get to our room. No offer of help with bags. Air conditioning delivered little warmth in Early Jan ! Coffee at breakfast was dire-tasteless bitter sludge - I have had better from a Nescafe jar ! Although there were lifts inside the hotel there was a long tricky flight of steps to front door for an older couple with bags.

Review 92:Convenient for M6

Review 93:Tried to get a relaxing nights sleep and thought we would being in room 3303 basically up in the roof decent room but the staff were so loud yes the last time I looked 02.30 crashing about with pots cups and saucers talking loud and banging around !!!! No consideration for paying guests especially at £230 for the one nights stay !!!

Review 94:Too expensive for standard of room

Review 95:Excellent friendly staff , lovely location and food .room okay if a little tired & considering the cost would have expected a lot more luxury but overall happy with stay

Review 96:could do with a floor plan to access your room from reception or even restaurant/gym from own room. A bit like a maze but this is not something that will put me off returning to the hotel.

Review 97:almost everything was good. When you arrive it gives you like a "grand hotel" feel about it. There are two parts of the hotel: the "old" where the reception is with the conference rooms and the "new" where rooms and restaurants and fitness spa are. Buffet style breakfast with lots of choices and well cooked food. I have had a spacious room which was comfortable and easy access to gym & spa.

Review 98:Jacuzzi on timer so wasn't on when we wanted it. Also sauna seemed to be only at right temperature early morning. Another bar and restaurant using the old part of the hotel would have been great.

Review 99:Pool great for swimming. Breakfast and dinner was very good. Staff all very friendly. Room was in new block, good size and large bathroom with separate shower. Have a look round the old part of the hotel - amazing place.

Review 100:Dinner in the restaurant didn't meet our expectations

Review 101:excellent leisure facilities & fantastic breakfast we were given a fascinating tour of Crewe Hall by the operations manager

Review 102:Food was nice but nothing to write home about

Review 103:I liked the War memorial & the art on the lawns. The staff were friendly & pleasant. Food wasn't as good as I'd hoped for both the Wedding meal & breakfast.

Review 104:Crewe hall itself was a beautiful building. All the staff were attentive, polite and good humoured. The facilities for the meeting I attended were more than adequate and the food was excellent

Review 105:Restaurant ambience wasn't very romantic! Too bright and clinical! Would prefer more of a relaxed candle lit atmosphere! Seats uncomfortable and too close to other guests

Review 106:Four poster bed, history and old features! Really felt like royalty for the night!

Review 107:The directions to rooms - we were with a group of friends and it was difficult to find the other rooms!

Review 108:Our room! Very spacious and comfortable. Food was great and service at our private dinner was amazing!

Review 109:When we open the room door the smell of stale smoke immediately put us off. I called reception and they said the fire in the room must have been lit. I said the chimney was sealed it had not been used in years so they said it is coming from the chimney stack on the outside of the building. I could not see one. They offered to spray the room with a nice smelling spray but I said no to that and with that they said not sure what can be done. HOW ABOUT CHANGING ROOMS!! We had to launder all our clothes when we got home. I felt the staff were a little surly. The room cost me £244 ( and the meal for eight cost me another £280) not cheap.

Review 110:Old Baronial Hall nice external feature in nice grounds.

Review 111:The journey from Essex !! At least I had comfort waiting for me

Review 112:Evening meal was the best Rib Eye Steak i have had in a long time, and breakfast was just as good. Room was spacious and comfortable. Hope to return soon with my wife.

Review 113:the new part looks like a hospital and unfortunately there is no restaurant in the old area. So to have breakfast, one has to cross over this ugly corridor which has nothing to do with the hotel itself. The restaurant is hilarious. I had to wait for one hour for a simple burger and ceasar salad.

Review 114:The old part is fantastic and the rooms are beautiful. The tea room is superb.

Review 115:Food in brassiere was not good for price charge cold and minimal portions also wine very expensive that was for steak sandwich in ciabatta bread steak was tiny amount freezing cold and bread was uncooked

Review 116:Q Hotels are great and I go when I can. But the bar is very poor as it offers a poor selection of draught beers which means I go elsewhere and thus don't stay for dinner. Any ggod bar has imported beers or real ales on draught

Review 117:Bar staff. Hallways to room had wallpaper stripped off, and tired looking. I understanding its an old building but this is no excuse if you are charging £224.00 pn.

Review 118:Building was stunning from outside.

Review 119:Reastaurant was not special enough for a special occasion Very pricey for quality food New part accomodation To modern not in keeping with house

Review 120:Main building Pool Gym Cleanliness rooms Space in the rooms

Review 121:However, events like weddings need the service of hotels, where information to and service for all guests inparticular with regard to:eating, drinking and being directed around the vast hall needs to be as good as the location suggests. Only that small part let it down.

Review 122:The hall and setting are out of this world and therefore for very special occasions it is perfect.

Review 123:Air conditioning was dreadful. Our room was 30 degrees all night!! We were provided with a fan after complaining which had a thermometer on it!! We wee there to prepare for a qualifing round at Crewe GC Not the best night prior to this by any means!!

Review 124:Loud hen parties swearing and screaming in the restaurant meant it was difficult to have a nice romantic meal...

Review 125:Amazing architecture and lovely room. All very comfortable and has everything you need.

Review 126:I like the mix of old, traditional style and new, modern rooms. You get the grandeur of a historic manor house with the comfort of modern conveniences.

Review 127:Staff were extremely helpful including a tour of the special historic rooms. Food good, leisure facilities excellent. Easy parking. Definitely a place to return.

Review 128:Poor quality of coffee at breakfast. One cup of filter coffee would be preferable to copious amounts from a machine.

Review 129:Friendly and helpful staff. Good bathroom with high standard of cleanliness.Well presented and tasty food at dinner

Review 130:The drinks were very expensive

Review 131:The beautiful periodic features
