Reviews for Fishmore Hall

Review 1:That I didn't have the time to try the evening menu- definitely missed out there!

Review 2:Staff were really helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Bedroom views stunning (room 6). Bed was a super king - brilliant!

Review 3:Bill was incorrect but this was dealt with effectively and immediately.

Review 4:Extremely friendly staff and excellent food. Room was spacious and had a very comfortable large bed. The sitting area with the fire was very cosy.

Review 5:The radiators in the one room (no. 8) seemed not to be working... we were only there for one night and it was not very cold so I did not mention this to the staff... it would have been nice to have the one in the bathroom working.

Review 6:Stylish, modern accommodation with everything perfectly in place. Excellent food, service and just a great experience staying at Fishmore Hall. The staff were welcoming and friendly, gave suggestions for how to spend our (unfortunately, short!) time in Ludlow and were very approachable. Dining experience, even though we went for the bistro rather than gastro menu wassuperb.

Review 7:It is the most people friendly and dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed in. Excellent meals, comfortable lounge and very comfortable room. We loved Ludlow itself too.

Review 8:The staff were just excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were all pet friendly. Parking is off road. The hotel is out of town and so very quiet, but within easy walking distance to the town.

Review 9:I have never rated anywhere previously because I haven't felt compelled to do so. The entire experience at Fishmore Hall was fantastic from start to finish. The staff, room, food and ambience all excellent.

Review 10:the floor in the bathroom was very slippery when wet. Drinks expensive.

Review 11:we had a very enjoyable stay to celebrate my friends 60 th birthday. The room was very spacious and well appointed. The bathroom was very good, a large bath and separate power shower. The restaurant was closed so we chose to eat in the bistro which was very good.

Review 12:the room was cold, the bathroom fan noisy, bedroom smelled of drain cleaner, TV ancient, breakfast didn't start until 730am and i wanted to check out before, seemed to be only one person on call at night or early morning to do reception and meals. it was quite pricey £99 for a small countryside hotel midweek I thought

Review 13:the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, staff friendly, the pre-arrival comms were good

Review 14:No access to a small gym (which would be a great addition). Frequent visitors discount would be good.

Review 15:Overall the hotel is brilliant. I visit Ludlow about 3 times a year and always stay there.

Review 16:The lift. Slooow and with the strangest voice! I told you there was nothing to complain about!!!

Review 17:Nothing anyone could possibly complain about. Comfortable beds, great shower, good views, peaceful, bar, lounge, great breakfast and a very good dinner menu with a reasonably priced wine list. Big on locally sourced produce. Great location for exploring the Marches.

Review 18:It was a shame that the restaurant wasn't available Sunday and Monday.

Review 19:Lovely room, excellent breakfast and although the restaurant wasn't open the bar meals were the best we have ever had.

Review 20:When we walked around the gardens early evening we did not like the smell of the Cess Pits. Also smelt them in main CP I was sorry to see no one takes care of the garden, the bushes need a good haircut NOW!

Review 21:Good standard of service. Very Clean. Location.

Review 22:The evening meals in the brasserie were very mediocre, Limited menu choice more like a downmarket pub. Same two vegetables served to us both nights. Veg was very salty and we ordered the cheeseboard one of the nights and sent it back because it was not as described on the menu and the cheese would not have kept a mouse going for the day.

Review 23:Our room and bathroom were beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfasts were very good.

Review 24:Rooms were a bit hot and we were unable to control, could have done with a light over the vanity unit

Review 25:Didn't want to leave, would definitely stay there again

Review 26:nothing

Review 27:Hall easily found; parking excellent; just a 20 min. walk to town centre - which was well worth visiting. When Hall restaurant was closed - found at least 3 places to eat - 2 pubs + the 'post office'! - all very good.

Review 28:Loved the rooms - nicely furnished and clean and comfortable. The hotel in general had a nice ambience, lovely restaurant, excellent food and great service.

Review 29:Excellent location as we liked walking Late bedroom with comfortable bed Excellent bathroom power shower Was great.lovely view from bedroom window.Ludlow its self is a lovely town enjoyed the walk from hotel to Ludlow town .

Review 30:Dining was tasty, but expensive. A bit heavier on fats than I would have thought necessary. Had a hand manicure at the spa, nail varnish wasn't brilliant, and by Monday evening, it was chipped. A pity because this countered the positive point of having the spa available right there.

Review 31:Polite and friendly staff. Good service orientation. Lovely view, good room. It was nice to have "spa services" at the hotel, although ... see bad point too.

Review 32:The hotel was in a peaceful location and the room was modernised, spacious and comfortable. There was a lovely view over the countryside from our room and a lovely sunset on the evening we stayed.

Review 33:Not too big and aimed at the mature couple looking for quality and a central base for a variety of places to visit. Being with a 20 minute walk of Ludlow, a beautifully preserved mediaeval town, was an added advantage too for shops, pubs or somewhere different to eat.

Review 34:Good food but rather pricey especially if you are wanting wine. We tried the 9 course tasting menu which was very good but not outstanding & also over-priced. We ate in the Brasserie one night but were under pressure to rush our meal, to leave staff/ kitchen clear to concentrate on later diners. Our main meal arrived less than 5 minutes after our bread & olives so we had no time to eat them - but we were not charged for them after we complained.

Review 35:Very friendly & helpful staff. Spacious room with large comfortable bed. Nice quiet location but 15 to 20 minute walk to centre.

Review 36:Nothing at all.

Review 37:Lovely room with very comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Good location surrounded by beautiful countryside. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent evening meal and breakfast.

Review 38:Unfortunately there was a noisy air conditioning unit outside our window. My husband's dinner was not particularly good. No one queried why it hadn't been eaten

Review 39:The room was very comfortable I had an excellent dinner (not on the A La Carte Menu.) Breakfast was excellent....wonderful croissants.

Review 40:We liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The room was immaculate, with a personalised welcome letter from the owner. Molson Brown toiletries added to the luxury. happy to recommend and score 10/10

Review 41:Hotel was quite far from Ludlow centre about 20-25minites walk away. Need a taxi on the way home.

Review 42:Beautiful house and settings. They staff were really helpful.

Review 43:We felt it was not value for money. The room was okay but the pillows were like sleeping on a slab. The menu was very limited and repeated nightly!

Review 44:The breakfast's were lovely. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Review 45:The cost is over the top. £220 for a room even if it is very spacious , this is unreasonable. For this I expected something really special, but it wasn't.

Review 46:Very comfortable hotel, good food

Review 47:Location, it was a 20 minute walk into Ludlow Centre. We got taxis toLudlow but unfortunately at the end of the night we couldn't get ataxi back so had to walk. Ok if you haven't got high heels on!Breakfast waiter was a little surly and abrupt but receptionist waslovely and very helpful.

Review 48:Lovely old hotel. Bedroom nice, good bed but didn't sleep very wellas it was very hot in the room. Nice touches with Molton Brown soaps etcbut an empty shower cap bag, strange. Lovely view from the room.Breakfast good. Tea .... really really strong!

Review 49:Teeny weeniest milk bottles ever seen. Slippery bathroom floor - still nursing the bruise.

Review 50:Clean, spacious, comfortable with friendly staff. Real milk - hurrah!

Review 51:Peaceful location with countryside views. Friendly and helpful staff. Food excellent from the brasserie for our two evening meals. My wife being gluten intolerant was well catered for.

Review 52:Nothing

Review 53:They thought of everything to make our stay first class but at a very fair price. We had the a la carte menu which was divine! It was also a very pleasant walk into Ludlow town.

Review 54:Unable to walk into Ludlow town and decor in bedroom required maintenance work, e.g. Paint was coming off wall in the bathroom!

Review 55:Wonderful staff, large comfortable bed and luxurious features in the bathroom

Review 56:Slight lack of shelf space and hooks for coats

Review 57:Superb bedroom - huge bed - great wet room shower. Excellent breakfast. Nice touches like bathrobes and slippers.

Review 58:an excellent small hotel with a great eye for detail. staff all very friendly and happy to talk to you. within a good walks distance of Ludlow. so no need to take the car. stroll down at your own pace, see the town, eat, drink and return. excellent food at the hotel for dinner and breakfast.

Review 59:Some traffic noise in our room.

Review 60:Attentive staff. Great attention to detail, weather reports for each day delivered to our room, photocopy provided of our route ahead. Large luxurious room.

Review 61:Lack of attention to detail,e.g. Only 3 coat hangers provided, shaving mirror loose, etc. All easy to fix. Tried the tasting menu. Asked for a diabetic meal, but they failed to provide suitable desserts (one was laden with sugar chunks) and Amuse Bouche had sugar in.However they adjusted the price of Dinner. With more focus this hotel could move from good to excellent .

Review 62:Lovely hotel in a quiet location.Rooms very comfortable.Staff very pleasant

Review 63:the open plan nature of the bathroom/bedroom. who thinks having the toilet in the same room as the bed is a good idea? for the price the lack of toiletries was disappointing.

Review 64:easy walk into Ludlow

Review 65:The room was hot but a fan was supplied. We enjoyed our stay but felt it lacked a little attention to detail - no shampoo provided on either day, homemade biscuits offered but didn't arrive until we called to chase an hour later, water in fridge not replaced on second night & breakfast service not brilliant on the first day. Unfortunately the position of the laundry rooms on the main landing means you have to walk through bedding & ironing each morning. We also found that Ludlow is lovely but the majority of the recommended restaurants are closed on Sunday - Tuesday nights. So next time we will visit later in the week.

Review 66:Nice, simple room with lovely views across fields and only a few minutes drive to Ludlow. Quiet and relaxing location.

Review 67:The room size and location over the kitchen made it a overpriced. If you were staying for more than 1 night the room was not big enough you were tripping over yourselves or your bags.

Review 68:Staff were very polite, efficient and courteous. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was very good

Review 69:Main thoroughfares downstairs tatty and well used, gardens need improving. Sadly, feels tired and shabby in places

Review 70:Immaculate room and dining experiences

Review 71:What a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful rooms very plush in such glorious surroundings. Breakfasts wonderful. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the area.

Review 72:Breakfast was disappointing after the excellence of dinner the night before. Poor selection of fruit, and an unappetising mound of scrambled egg next to a pile of smoked salmon was not up to the standard of dinner.

Review 73:Excellent dinner in the evening.

Review 74:Broken plug prevented use of bath. Black mould in shower, peeling and marked paint near shower. Although marketing as dog-friendly, we felt the £30 surcharge was sharply overpriced (and unexpected, as this is not openly stated on booking.com). This opinion is based on the fact that a majority of similar hotels that we use, typical levy a £10 surcharge. Restaurant: We chose to dine at restaurant, ordered meal from a la carte menu (as not wanting an overly elaborate 'taster' menu), but turns out food still came in small taster-sized portions, which was disappointing given the price. To restaurants credit, the food was well presented and was tasty. Staff friendly and made an effort. Booked table for 8:30 ... dragged out until 11:00. If you are seeking a 'dining experience' then you will most likely enjoy it, if you are looking for a satisfyingly filling meal, after a days walking, with desert arriving before you are nodding off at the table, this may not be for you... Repeatedly asked whether we wanted wine, having already said we would have a glass later in the meal. Overly pushing heavily-marked-up drink sales which is irritating :-/

Review 75:Location, parking, presentation. Attractive grounds and building, with good parking. Good provision of wifi internet access. Although we have a number of relatively minor negative comments, there is generally a lot to like about this hotel. We would recommend this hotel, although we probably wouldn't use it again as it is relatively overpriced for what it is.

Review 76:No quibbles of any kind. All great.

Review 77:Fantastically friendly and relaxed atmosphere, due largely to the staff. Attentive without being intrusive. Lovely room, quiet and peaceful.

Review 78:That our stay did not continue longer because we came away totally relaxed

Review 79:We arrived to a warm welcome. As the stay went on they continued to be accommodating to any request made of them. Excellence through out.

Review 80:We had no dislikes ,although a simple bar of soap in the bathroom would be a good idea. We had to buy one. This is a problem in many hotels.

Review 81:Everything.

Review 82:The friendly care of all the staff, the comfort and wonderful food made this a terrific 'home from home' for a wonderful Easter break. And with great weather, its location provided views aplenty and wonderful sketching opportunities, too...

Review 83:only negative was rather vinegary eggs royale for breakfast

Review 84:quiet out of town location excellent room (asked for ground floor and we were given spacious disabled access suite) friendly staff

Review 85:While staying in room number 2 we could hear every noise in the kitchen, long after we went to bed and long before we wanted to get up. Complained twice to reception and management after midnight. Poor breakfast service. Did not expect to be told "we're doing the best we can" when asking if our coffee order had been forgotten. Did not expect to be told by reception that room number 2 had been allocated as the hotel was busy. After some discussion, during which we said that it was unfair to take our booking if that was the only room available, our accommodation fee was refunded. We suggested that management should spend a night in room number 2.

Review 86:Evening meal good and friendly staff.

Review 87:No problem with the Hotel....the problem is with availability of taxis in Ludlow for some reason. The staff kindly advised us of this so we were able to book a taxi on the way out for our return, otherwise we may have had a proble. Weekend stays could be a problem.

Review 88:We liked everything - from the hotel decor, staff, the little touches like weather reports in your room and a welcome letter, the food choice. Could not fault the hotel at all. Will definately go back again.

Review 89:Only a standard room but still lovely and had a massive walk in shower/wet-room. Staff very helpful, hotel very well managed, nice setting, couldn't fault it, won't be disappointed

Review 90:Evening meal overpriced, good but not stunning and dining room a bit sterile. Lack of taxi service meant lots of walking into and back from town.

Review 91:Lovely comfortable room and friendly staff

Review 92:The hotel is lovely as is the location. The fresh milk etc and homemade biscuits a real bonus. The breakfast was good - freshly cooked to order -rather than buffet; very good choice. cgood-

Review 93:Everything and the staff were exemplary in every way. Wouldn't hesitate to return as it is a lovely hotel and a pleasant walk into gorgeous Ludlow.

Review 94:Nothing negative to say.

Review 95:Staff were really helpful, accommodating and pleasant. Room was amazing - go for the luxury room if you can. A la carte menu looked amazing but it's a set price and a little heavy for our budget at the time. Bar menu (we had the steak) was still really high quality and we were very happy.

Review 96:Nothing important. Rooms could be a bit better sound proofed, no shelf in the shower, limited range of toiletries (didn't ask if they were available as I had my own)

Review 97:Food was terrific. Staff friendly, decor nice inc fabulous bathroom, location beautiful. Not sure why star rating is not higher - nice touches like robes and slippers, real coffee and cafetiere in room and Molton Brown toiletries

Review 98:I ate in the Brasserie and had the beer battered fish and chips. The starter was excellent (chicken parfait). I found the amount of fish compared to the batter disappointing. However, staff were very genial and keen on keeping the customer happy. Looking at the tasting menus in the main restaurant, they were pricey. I wish they had had an a la carte in the main restaurant.

Review 99:Friendliness of staff. My room and the en-suite facilities were superb.

Review 100:We were in Room 7 - the luxury room - but found the lack of privacy for the toilet facilities, in particular, very disconcerting. Would never stay in that room again.

Review 101:Food, service and decor magnificent.

Review 102:Pleasant but inexperienced waiting staff. Did not detract from the meal

Review 103:The bedroom. Spacious, and tastefully furnished, quiet, and well supplied with goodies !

Review 104:Doors on the landing slamming shut.not enough tea bags and milk.no sources with breakfast.

Review 105:Nice clean and spaces room.nice big bed.nice friendly receptionist

Review 106:Everything was excellent, the staff very nice the room very comfortable, we had the taster menu which we recommend for the evening meal, and the restaurant was very inviting, we will be staying again

Review 107:Large, warm room with very comfortable bed. An equally large bathroom with a separate shower cubicle. Very good English breakfast, friendly staff.

Review 108:Nothing!

Review 109:The decor is calm and peaceful, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is excellent with fresh local ingredients and the beds are big and comfortable. The hotel is near to Ludlow but also in quiet countryside and we enjoyed our stay very much, thank you to all.

Review 110:One of the staff, new to Britain, was still struggling hard with English which made for a few misunderstandings! His English though was better than my Latvian will ever be.

Review 111:The spacious rooms The friendly helpful staff The food! Easy parking Close to Ludlow centre

Review 112:we stayed for one night and had an amazing time. The meal was really nice. We had the taster 6 course menu and its was really good. Breakfast was great too. The room was spacious and the bed was extremley comfortable

Review 113:Food in the restaurant very poor and overpriced. Not AA rosette quality by far. I don't mind paying for quality but found the Fishmore lacking greatly. Breakfast very poor.

Review 114:Good location. Comfortable rooms. Peaceful and quiet nights sleep.

Review 115:Paintwork chipped and full of dirty marks, shower had mould all along the bottom edge. Skirting boards full of dust, decor throughout very tired and needs to be painted. Food stains on wall in dinning room where we sat. Room was not worth what we paid we have stayed in many b&bs all over the country so we are well able to make comparisons. Room had no character,no voile at window and it overlooked carpark so no privacy we had to close the curtains. Disappointed with the lack of quality you would expect for £220 per night

Review 116:Location

Review 117:There were water glasses in the bedroom but no tooth mugs in the bathroom - a minor detail - as we enjoyed our stay and would go back

Review 118:The six-course tasting menu was superb. We ate it on my husband's birthday as a special treat. Food generally was excellent.

Review 119:The bed felt like 2 pushed together as felt the join? Could hear the traffic on the A49 bypass

Review 120:Hotel was warm & welcoming Staff very friendly Our room was clean & tidy Wet room a bonus great shower!! Food was excellent in choice & taste Enjoyed our walk into town took 15-20 mins both used to walking quickly

Review 121:Menu said there was a set price for 2 courses - we had 2 courses and were charged 50%more - because of "what we chose"! (There was no mention of this on the menu). Manager was rather snotty when we questioned the bill. We paid but won't be going back.

Review 122:The hotel itself The Room The home cooked biscuits

Review 123:Everything a hotel should be, which is done with a quiet efficiency. A nice touch was a little printed weather report for the next day, left when the bed was turned down.

Review 124:We read an internet review that said don't miss the afternoon tea the scones are to die for. We followed said instructions and concur that when at Fishmore hall treat yourselves to the scones it would be rude not to. We also took the tasting menu for dinner which was all scrumptious the venison was the stand out dish for me.

Review 125:Appalling service at breakfast; 45 minutes waiting for a simple meal, ignored by staff, no apology offered - and the place wasn't even busy! We have stayed several times before, but this was enough to make me question if we will go back any time soon. Shame.

Review 126:Location, room, decor, gourmet food, great service (dinner)

Review 127:When we arrived, the room was dreadfully over-heated so we had to turn off all the radiators and open all the windows. This meant we were badly disturbed by the large and noisy kitchen extractor fan under the room's window which ran late into the evening and from very early in the morning. A bath would have been nice in a room at this price. Towels should be checked for holes before being placed in rooms. Restaurant and 'bar' food was very pricey

Review 128:The room was comfortable with a decent walk in shower and water pressure. A dog bowl and mat in the room was a nice touch. Food quality and presentation in the restaurant was excellent but... Breakfast was lovely. Staff could not have been more charming and helpful.

Review 129:Huge clean comfy modern rooms, fantastic food. Staff charming and attentive. I brought my elderly parents here and they loved it too. Can you add a pool next time??
