Reviews for Belmont Hotel

Review 1:Bed was very hard bathroom had no toilet roll had 2 go & ask for some toilet system had a crack in the lid bathroom was dirty the room curtins had holes in the lining room dated needs upgrading the sign outside was covered in ivea needs cutting back

Review 2:The company

Review 3:The hotel is located in easy walking distance to Wrexham town. John the owner is a very nice gentleman which serves you a delicious breakfast. Choose from 7 different Cereals, Jams, Yogurt or whatever hot food you desire. Thank you very much for accommodating me early & let me check out a bit later. It was greatly appreciated.

Review 4:Perhaps a little bit more attention to bathroom lighting where bulbs still need to be replaced.

Review 5:Bedding was really clean and well pressed. English Breakfast was nicely presented and most enjoyable. Hotel location is an easy walk to the town centre.

Review 6:The heating was on and off and it was a little cold throughout the night

Review 7:The hotel seems to be like a typical Welsh kinda house spacious and comfortable

Review 8:Shower was feeble and cold. Room decor was very load. Location meant it was difficult to walk to get a decent evening meal, had to make do with a pizza.

Review 9:Hotel name hidden behind greenery. Lamp shades could do with an upgrade.

Review 10:Friendly welcoming staff.Good breakfast. Building a little tired but clean and comfortable. Would use again.

Review 11:The room was a bit grim and dark, and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed. Wifi was very slow. Owner was rather unpleasant with us, but seemed very pleasant with some customers (?)

Review 12:Good location (walking distance to town), nice building (except for our bedroom), very pleasant dining room, nice breakfast. No problem with late arrival.

Review 13:The location was the only thing I wasn't sure about before booking, but it turned out to be an easy walk into the centre of town a d when it rained, my charming host, John, gave me a lift with my luggage to my destination. It is also a very reasonable taxi fare from the station.

Review 14:We could come and go as we pleased which was nice our only complaint was that the breakfast wasn't big enough and the bacon was too salty apart from that the weekend was great

Review 15:Attitude of the staff. Very rude, unprofessional and not polite towards us at all however laughing and joking with other customer. Made out we booked for a family of 4 and not 5. Pet in the breakfast room!

Review 16:Location of the property

Review 17:All the creaking floorboards and tatty carpet. Although this was a dog friendly hotel, perhaps that was why our room had tatty carpets!

Review 18:Breakfast was very nice

Review 19:We have never been to Wrexham before, so we were a bit surprised to notice that the city didn't feel very safe. We have also arrived after darkness fell and felt a bit uneasy to have dinner at a local pub (recommended by the owner of Belmont, lovely food, great value, lovely staff). A lot of hooded men (only) around the streets... The hotel though was in a lovely area.

Review 20:Breakfast was very good, the hotel was interesting, decently clean, spacious rooms and lovely old furniture. We had a family room which was very comfortable however, weirdly enough it had the sink in the room rather than in the bathroom. All in all, it was a very nice deal and most importantly, pet friendly, which seems to be quite a luxury in the area.

Review 21:Décor is a bit tired and dated but this is understandable for such an affordable hotel. Room wasn't immaculate but it certainly wasn't dirty, bed and bathroom was clean.

Review 22:Very helpful owner, comfy room with good range of facilities (tea/coffee, shower gel, etc). Good range of breakfast choices.

Review 23:needs updating as paint coming off the walls etc in the stair well

Review 24:friendly staff close to shops good choice of breakfast very reasonable cost comfortable beds very clean beds sheets etc. really nice comtempory furniture in the house conservatory lovely place to have breakfast

Review 25:john was such a welcoming chap, the bed rooms were nice and tidy, bathroom was really modern. john was very attentive, all staff were friendly, the bar was friendly.

Review 26:A fabulous old fashioned hotel - like staying in your granny's house! A most pleasant change from the corporate or chain experience. Breakfast excellent and served in a lovely conservatory

Review 27:When you arrived it did not look like what it's picture was on internet was very very out dated. Room was not what was shown on internet. Bathroom/shower extremely small. Carpets dirty. Host was not very inviting (face was always unhappy looking). Would not book this again.

Review 28:It's location was fine.

Review 29:Hotel in a time-warp. In dire need of updating and reorganising. Had to ask for the dog to be removed from the dining area How do places like this survive in the 21st century?

Review 30:The rooms were clean and the owner helpful. 10 to 15 minute walk to the town centre

Review 31:We were surprised when we entered the Hotel had to telephone for reception! If we did'nt have a phone how were we going to get attention? There was a burn hole in the ceiling light shade,we did'nt use this light! Were'nt happy having a dog in the Dining room.No meal times listed!

Review 32:Breakfast could have had more to it we only had bacon sausage and a fried egg some beans mushrooms and a hash brown would have been nice but the bacon was absolutely gorgeous.

Review 33:The owner was very welcoming and friendly, rooms were lovely and a very comfortable bed the owner didn't rush you for breakfast time or when leaving.

Review 34:Two gentlemen on staff very friendly and welcoming. Arrived quite late in evening so small bar downstairs very convenient. Sandwiches offered and accepted. Lovely! Perfect for one night stay.

Review 35:The hotel is very old and dilapitated. The photos on the Internet are completely deceiving. The carpets are filthy and the table clothes in the dining room were not changed each day. Our bathroom door had no door handle.

Review 36:Free WiFi

Review 37:Only thing was the bed which was a bit to soft. Other than that no complaints

Review 38:Staff were very friendly, very cheap, free and safe car park, friendly pub at the end of the road, room was very big, breakfast was lovely.

Review 39:The owner wasn't helpful in his manner when I asked for a radio that worked (we don't watch tv when we're on holiday) he said we can't be expected to supply everything. Wouldn't go again.

Review 40:The young man who let us in was very nice and professional Aaron I think his name was.

Review 41:No bad experiences.

Review 42:Room 7 was spacious, complete with en-suite facilities. When we came in on a hot sunny day, the staff served us with ice-cold lemonade

Review 43:No remote for the TV. Old furniture hindering the fire exit. The door handle to exit the room could have come off in my hand at any moment.

Review 44:Breakfast was pleasant.

Review 45:The room being cleaned daily meant stuff was moved around and windows constantly opened, getting back to the room later in the evening the temperature had dropped so much. Owners dog loose walking around whilst I ate and begging I was put off. I booked through a 3rd party which meant my discount wasn't honoured when a last minute room change occurred. 30% off twin room due agreed with booking.com moved to single I was billed full rate which was more than the cost of my twin reduced rate. Paid more than advertised which inconvenienced me although the hotel has since made a gesture refund payment in the weeks after, the process on checkout ruined trip.

Review 46:The owner was friendly and cooked great breakfast to order. Parking on site. Walking distance to town. my friend cancelled last minute advised owner I was running late to check in, room was changed from a twin to a single by the time I arrived. (Appeared to be flexible) Individual keys to premise and rooms as no reception desk felt happier to come and go as pleased. Garden is a lovely area had to ask to sit outside as furniture was stored in a corner.

Review 47:Nothing absolutely.

Review 48:The care of the owner Mr. Alan. He is trully a very good professionist respecting the customer and his job. This kind gendleman is the heart of the hotel.

Review 49:wi-fi was a bit patchy in the room.a little noisy early in the morning.

Review 50:the hotel is located well, rooms were adequate, the owner was friendly, price was excellent.

Review 51:leaving.

Review 52:Nothing was a problem, you felt at home and very comfortable. It was not 5 star but we were a family and being able to spread out in the lounge off the breakfast area that was very roomy, explore the courtyard area was lovely. John was up for a chat and happy to recommend, offer maps etc.

Review 53:I loved interior of the place and incredibly nice owner John who showed us many interesting places in the area! Breakfast was excellent! We will be back!!!

Review 54:Nothing to report

Review 55:Easy to park, right out the front of hotel. Bed was comfy and breakfast very good. Staff were very pleasant and keen to help as much as possible to make an enjoyable stay.

Review 56:Carpets and rugs in bedroom were filthy. Musty / damp smell throughout. Very noisy, inside and out, at night and first thing in morning, didn’t sleep a wink. General cleanliness issues, mugs in bedroom hadn’t been washed and were chipped and mismatched. Duvet cover appeared to be clean, but valance was stained. Mattress was as thin as a rake and unbelievably uncomfortable. Wi fi was so slow I gave up. Didn’t risk the breakfast, personally I was far too worried about hygiene issues given the condition of the rest of the ‘Hotel’. Staff appeared to be indifferent, almost indignant, don’t expect a warm welcome! I didn’t expect much for the money, all I want when I stay a night is a decent night’s sleep and a breakfast to set me up for the day in a place where I feel I could at least take my shoes off, I got none of the above, I seriously considered getting up and sleeping in my car at about 2am.

Review 57:Walking distance to Wrexham.

Review 58:The owner and staff were very welcoming and friendly. All comforts seen to, and felt like a home from home. Beautiful property, and no complaints whatsoever.

Review 59:This is a traditional small hotel / large B&B. Everything was in good order with quality food at breakfast time. We traveled on motor bikes and were offered free secure overnight parking which was great for us, space for 7 - 8 bikes.

Review 60:The owner was not at home when we arrived but answered the phone and arrived shortly after, he seemed unaware of who we were or how long we were staying for, after a think he said "Oh you can have that one" and led us to a room out of a Dickens novel. the next day we returned to be confronted by a couple outside, they had been waiting an hour and could get no reply at the door or phone. We used our key to go in and the place was deserted except for the sad looking dog. I went outside 3 times to chat to the couple who were there for another 2 hours until the owner returned. The next morning at breakfast I asked him if the guests had eventually got in, he said " Think so" I said they were there 3 hours and he said "Oh well you never can tell and shrugged" we were very disgusted.

Review 61:Me and my friend stayed here back in march for two nights for her birthday. Set on a quiet side road, great location just a straight 15 min walk into town which is what we wanted. Room big and clean. Friendly staff, cute dog rufus and fabulous cooked full end breakfast and yogurt fruit cereal to if you wanted it. Great price to

Review 62:Lack of consideration from hotelier to customers . Customers kept waiting to book in for over an hour . Leaving phone and txt message to hotelier with no response . Hotelier aware of our arrival time .

Review 63:Breafast with a dog peeing while we eat. Please keep the dog away from the breakfast room. Old furniture; during the day rooms are very cold.

Review 64:The location was very good. The room was big.

Review 65:Would have been useful to have wi-fi key on information sheet in room. I didn't want to have to disturb after arriving so late (planned).

Review 66:Beautiful room. Convenient location. Lovely welcome from John (gentleman) and Rufus (dog). Bath in room (9). Bed was so comfy. Quiet. Clean. Had a slight cold and got tea, sympathy and Beechams over breakfast.

Review 67:Family were not so impressed. Our room was warm and clean, the other 2 rooms were cold and 1 shower curtain was moldy.

Review 68:Based on price, great value, bar open late, owner was at hand providing great service and VFM prices. We will come again.

Review 69:The 2 rooms we had were both the same dirty carpets in our room the sheet on bed had holes in it.curtain was hanging off the pictures on Internet are not what you get would not recommend to anyone

Review 70:The shower was okay

Review 71:At breakfast the owner said repeatedly that he did not like pets in the breakfast area even when his dog was there. We offered for one of us to take our dog out, but he huffed and puffed, took his dog away. Felt very uncomfortable indeed and rushed breakfast to escape. We wont be back.

Review 72:The room was clean. Nice building. Very close to my son's house so very convenient.

Review 73:Would have liked more light to read by in bed. Proprietor could have been more welcoming.

Review 74:Clean room. Proper furniture. Comfortable bed. Lovely garden which the breakfast room overlooked. Excellent breakfast. Good service.

Review 75:There wasn't anything we didnt like .

Review 76:We travelled up for a funeral our checkinn time was ment to be 1400 we arrived at 0945 the staff got our room ready early and were very helpful and friendly we will definitely use the Belmont agai and would recommend it to friends and family outstanding value .

Review 77:bedrooms did get a very warm during the night, waking you to adjust

Review 78:The ease of booking, understanding staff great parking plenty of space in the rooms

Review 79:Lovely place to stay. Was made welcome and had a very comfortable nights sleep. Friendly owner and lovely freshly cooked breakfast Will defiantly stay again

Review 80:The Wi-Fi was patchy and some of the fixtures and fittings were a bit worn, but I can forgive everything as I had a brilliant night's sleep.

Review 81:The friendliness and welcome of the owner was fantastic. The room was comfortable, if a little old fashioned and tired. I am an incredibly light sleeper so that fact that it was so very quiet gets 100% from me. The breakfast was good and there was plenty of choice.

Review 82:There wasn't anything really to dislike, except maybe the location. I only say this because I arrived by train & did not have a vehicle to travel around. Then again if you were looking for peace and quietness this is the place for you.

Review 83:It was like stepping back to the 50's, when life was less hectic and material wealth not so important. Most of the furniture and fittings are quite dated but still totally functional. John (owner) is the manager, receptionist, bartender, cook & waiter and has a wonderful and friendly disposition. We spent a lot of time conversing at the bar on the evening of my stay. John bade farewell in a really honest and genuine fashion, he really was pleased you had stayed at his hotel.

Review 84:The internet but I was too tired to ask about it so it was my own fault.

Review 85:The breakfast was excellent. Rooms quiet and no one walking around upstairs in other rooms. Couldn't hear any TV's so a good nights sleep. Better than the big hotels.

Review 86:The accommodation was clean, and tidy, well presented. Brilliant service from the man who greeted us. Lovely breakfast. Will be re booking again :-)

Review 87:Unable to close bathroom door because of missing inside handle but this has probably been fixed now. Gurgling sink ( presumably from neighbouring room/ shared plumbing) woke us the first morning but not the second.

Review 88:Good sized room. Really nice owner and dog - didn't see any other staff. Beds clean and comfortable. Quiet. Great cooked to order breakfast. Overall good and would go back. Easy ten minute stroll to the centre of town.

Review 89:bed was a bit too high ,awkward to get on .Sink in bedroom was awkward for washing hands after bathroom.

Review 90:décor of room was excellent , no road noise, breakfast was first class. access to room no problem owner most obliging .

Review 91:The hotel is situated in a residential area, the bar advertised as being in the hotel is only open Tuesday and Saturday, there was no access to the pretty walled garden shown on the booking advertisement, the furniture and decor is described as traditional, but it is really better described as old and scabby, our bedroom had a very strange smell, had wet stained carpet, the child's cot was broken and would not secure on one side, the kettle sat on the floor plugged in, no handle on the bathroom door let alone a lock, there was damp and mould on the walls, broken towel rail, and a shower that dribbled rather than ran. On arrival the answer we received when we checked it was definitely a dog friendly hotel as advertised was 'supposedly'..... We were not shown to our rooms just simply handed the keys, travelling with two young children, we had picked this hotel as it was advertised with a friendly welcoming bar, which we felt we could have some adult time once the children were in bed, without leaving the hotel, but it was not open as advertised on the site, so we spent the evening sat in our room. We felt unable to report this to the owner as his approach had been very off handish, and unfriendly upon arrival, almost as if we were in the way or interrupting him, with young children we were concerned of ending up with no where to stay so we made do, however this was not worth the price we paid and advertised incorrectly.

Review 92:The breakfast was nice and unfortunately that was the only thing positive we could say

Review 93:Hotel bar opening hours are extremely limited.

Review 94:Very friendly staff, went out of their way to let us in to our rooms early. Hotel very comfortable and clean, excellent breakfast.

Review 95:When I returned later in the evening the whole situation changed in the manager manners towards me when I complained the was Room Dirty . Dirty Cups & Spoons, Dirty Bed Sheets & Dirty Towels were left on the Bathroom Floor from a previous guest & hairs in the Bath. Left the next day will not be returning.

Review 96:Initial contact with Staff

Review 97:WIFI seemed to be a bit hit and miss sometimes.

Review 98:John, the owner, was very accommodating and made it a pleasure to be staying in his property. Nothing was too much trouble for him to help with. The property is near the town centre and Rufus, the dog, was also attentive. All up very good value for money and very comfortable.

Review 99:Nothing I enjoyed my stay

Review 106:The shower took ages to heat up the waterr

Review 107:John is an excellent host and makes you feel at home. Vintage rooms and decor
