Reviews for Hotel Chris'tel
Review 1:Easy to get to by car, plenty of parking, but only a short walk from the old part of the city and the sights. Great meal in the restaurant, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 2:Great location, short walk into the city, which is absolutely stunning! Room was big and airy and we faced the back so it was very quiet. We were there in late September so temp of room no issue but in the summer it might be a little hot.
Review 3:There was some confusion over our booking on arrival but it was soon sorted and we offered an upgrade to our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and could cope with several languages we gathered. The room could be a little noisy with traffic late at night and early morning especially so in the summer when we like to leave the window open.
Review 4:Good quality reasonably priced hotel just 10 mins from the city centre. The food and wine in the dining room was excellent and very reasonably priced also. Off street parking seems a bit limited but we never had a problem getting our car in during our 7 days there.
Review 5:Hotel is about 4 Km from the historic centre of Le Puy en Velay in a residential area, with no local shops / cafes. Heavy rain prevented us walking into the centre. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was not very good, with very over-cooked duck.
Review 6:Modern, comfortable hotel with off street parking. Staff were pleasant and the receptionist was very helpful. Hotel provided a good self-service breakfast.
Review 7:Nothing - well wi-fi was poor on one occasion, but generally good.
Review 8:Good location, free parking, lovely big comfortable room with good bathroom facilities and toiletries, helpful staff, excellent breakfast. In all great value for money.
Review 9:Street (traffic) noise disturbs good night rest.
Review 10:Food quality excellent. More people should dine in the hotel restaurant instead of the village centre.
Review 11:Too much deodorant (carpet?) that stayed w/us overnight, forcing to leave the balcony door open. Also, no exhaust fan in the bathroom.
Review 12:Nice sized room with balcony
Review 13:No air conditioning, wifi was very intermittent
Review 14:Free parking , easy access, comfy room. Staff were vey helpful. Breakfast very good value and good but simple
Review 15:Toilet was separate from bathroom. Some aspects of décor could have been better.
Review 16:Hotel was well placed for exploring shops and historical sites in Le Puy, and was comfortable and not unpleasant. Staff were pleasant. Car parking to side of hotel was open-air and easy to access, and free. Décor was bright.
Review 17:Nothing to add
Review 18:Our one night stay at this hotel was very comfortable. The room is spacious with a balcony. The bathroom very serviceable. The breakfast was very good.
Review 19:We were only staying one night so can't say there was anything we didnt like.
Review 20:The room was a good size, very comfortable big bed and very nice linen. Although we looked onto the main road, we didnt hear the traffic as two sets of sliding glass doors provided sound proofing. Nice to have a balcony with room to sit on comfortabley. Air conditioning worked fine and was not noisy. Liked the big sink in the bathroom and liked the separate loo. Free parking. Very near the old town centre, a 5 minute walk to dinner, numerous eating options. Ideal stopover
Review 21:Although we had a balcony the street outside was too noisy to enjoy the space or leave windows open at night. There seemed to be a lack of interest by the owners in running the hotel well or interacting with their guests. Without a car we found the distance into town a little too far, especially if you wanted to return to the hotel through the day and then go back to town for a meal in the evening.
Review 22:The room was a reasonable size and the bed quite comfortable. A nice park to walk through on the way into town.
Review 23:There is no AC nor window or any air circulation -even not in the bath room. we had very early reservation for a bigger room (30 meter) and we had 5 floor room. The room was good and big -but it was very hot - but when we could not sleep with open window - because of the road noise. so we paid for extra convenient room- but was too hot and suffocate and we had no quality of night sleep. if this is not a problem for you- i would recommend the hotel.
Review 24:The location ; the parking; the breakfast was fresh, very good location for the 3 days "king of birds" festival.
Review 25:It's only a short walk to the centre of this charming small city. The bed was the best we have found so far in France and the rooms were very quiet.
Review 26:Very friendly, helpful staff and a very comfortable room. This was a welcome rest after a long journey and I would definitely return to the Hotel Chris'tel. I was unable to use the restaurant in the evening but the breakfast was good and represented value for money.
Review 27:Wifi connection not good. Kept kicking me out. No English BBC.
Review 28:Very comfy beds, clean. Toilet separate from shower. Short walk to the center. Cheerful owner/manager.
Review 29:Excellent location within walking distance of main sights and attractions of Le Puy, with free hotel parking. We stayed for 2 nights and would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises. Our room was at the front facing the road but the double glazing shut out traffic noise completely. Good reasonably priced restaurant , we had breakfast twice and one evening meal Free WiFi available.
Review 30:We just visited Le Puy for three nights and enjoyed the stay at Hotel Chris'tel. The rooms were typical hotel rooms, but large, well presented and clean. The street was a little noisy, but they've installed double windows which block the sound. The hotel is a short distance to the old town and all the attractions and a lovely park is only a block away. The staff were very friendly and there is some on-site parking. We didn't have any meals at the hotel, but they had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and also a bar. I'd recommend and we may stay again.
Review 31:Miscommunication through e-mails lead to our party of 3 adults having to have 2 rooms instead of one triple.
Review 32:Good location. Tidy and comfortable rooms.
Review 33:Room a bit hot. Needed the patio doors open to keep cool. On noisy road.
Review 34:Good friendly staff. Evening meal was OK but the steak was a bit chewy. Room good and comfortable and well appointed.
Review 35:Nothing really
Review 36:My wife and I have recently stayed at the Hotel Chris'tel for two nights. The hotel is conveniently located not far away from the town centre, a 15 min easy walk through a beautiful park and a little Zoo in the end of it will get you there. Parking, although a bit tight for a big car like ours, is free of charge, so is wi-fi Internet. Unlike most of small uncomfortable hotels in France, Hotel Chris'tel did exceed our expectations and pleasantly surprised by an ample size carpeted spotless clean room, large bathroom and big very comfortable bed with nice linen, not to forget a very friendly and helpful staff. All the above coupled with an excellent sound proofing guaranties a good night sleep and comfortable stay. A small fridge, actually not listed under the room amenities, was a real surprise, as we could keep all our drinks cool and store some of the food stuff we were carrying with us. Besides all rooms have a balcony equipped with a small table and a couple plastic chairs, so if you want you could have a glass of wine outside, we did. There is also a restaurant in the hotel, but we didn't have a chance to use it, so can't comment on it. Anyway, we would gladly recommend the Hotel Chris'tel to anyone who would like to explore a beautiful town Puy-en-Velay and Haute-Loire area around.
