Reviews for Hôtel L'Oliveraie
Review 1:Our room had no aircon or windows. We had to leave our door open overnight to get some air in. It made it a bit uncomfortable at the height of summer. Staff were not very helpful when I pointed out that they had charged me for 3 breakfasts and 3 taxes du sejour despite us only being 2 people and seemed very suspicious of me.
Review 2:The room was clean and comfortable and the swimming pool was lovely on a hot day in August. It's a bit of a walk from the centre of town but as it's not a huge town it's not a big problem.
Review 3:No complaints at all
Review 4:A delightful stay in very comfortable room next to the swimming pool. Very helpful and attentive owner. Gym, Jacuzzi and Sauna all available. Very nice terraces.
Review 5:No window. We locked the outer door, left the inner one open to let some air in and had the fan on. I think it would be uncomfortable in hot weather. Also, there were only two small pillows, no spares in the wardrobe, and we didn't realise this till too late.
Review 6:The grounds - some garden, shaded terrace, small pool. Also, the bed was excellent and the room pleasant.
Review 7:We found the hotel easily and were dealt with in a friendly and efficient manner on arrival. There was free on-site parking. The accommodation consisted of 2 rooms separated by a screen and an en-suite bathroom. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we had free Wi-Fi. The temperature was 41 when we arrived and I really enjoyed a swim in the small outdoor pool attached.
Review 8:Sadly no evening meal available on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and as it was a good 25min walk to the town centre this was not helpful when you had been out walking g most of the day.
Review 9:Room very nice with air con and good size bathroom. Lovely little pool, parking on site. Staff very pleasant. We arrived on a Thursday and had a lovely evening meal. Very quiet with no train noise.
Review 10:Stayed for 3 nights in January during the Comics Festival. Mainly because hotel rooms in Angouleme are impossible to find. But if you depend on public transportation to visit the festival, Cognac is not a good option. There simply aren't enough trains from Cognac to Angouleme (there's a very early train at 7.50am, but the next train is 3,5 hours later, so you arrive 1,5 hours before the festival opens, or 2 hours after). Also, this can made it very difficult to catch your plane back. I had to take a taxi from Cognac to nearby Saintes to take the train to Bordeaux. This taxi (arranged for my by the hotel!) took just 20 minutes, but they charged me 76 euros for it. The hotel could have arranged a better deal for me with the driver. One other thing. WIFI is only available in the lobby, not in the rooms.
Review 11:The rooms are big and I liked the food in the hotel's restaurant.
Review 12:Far away from the center of town and most of Cognac Houses (only Bisquit is on the next street). Martell, Camus - about half hour walking, Otard - 10-15 minutes more
Review 13:Very quiet place (despite the fact that it is close to the railway station). Spacious room with comfortable bed, WiFi, privat parking - all that the tourists need for rest
Review 14:There was that annoying high piched electricity sound ringing very loud in my room all the time
Review 15:Pool was nice but seemed to be opened and closed at random times
Review 16:Controllable (from the room) air conditioning would have made the comfort of the room excellent
Review 17:Very reasonable menu with four courses and pleasant service. Good choice for those like us who we're doing a one night stopover
Review 18:We ate at the restaurant one night and the meat we ordered was almost uneatable. Starters and desserts were good though.
Review 19:The staff were very helpful, they even opened the pool for us as we arrived and were asking about it :) Breakfast was ok. Room was clean and the bathroom was big enough. Free wi-fi was offered already at the arrival. Good parking lot.

Review 45:Staff was very nice. Rooms were ok, we were there for a wedding so we didn't spend much time in the room. nice to have the breakfast on the terrace. pool was small but nice
Review 46:Wi-fi was pure guesswork. Swimming pool was not very clean and anyway spoilt by very noisy kids most of the time. Everything shut on Sunday
Review 47:Staff were relatively helpful, if somewhat confused. Rooms were very big and quite clean.
