Reviews for Allerdale Court Hotel
Review 1:Public car park only. Just a few yards from the hotel but the meter does require feeding from 8am til 7pm
Review 2:Comfrey and cosy. Stayed overnight in January yet the welcome was warm and friendly the (SD) room was large and well appointed with all the usual goodies. The wi-fi worked - although you need a key code - just in case someone 'steals' the bits, I reckon!
Review 3:The room we stayed in was rather outdated. Could do with a re-vamp and some curtains on the windows rather than just blinds. And there was a background noise possibly from a boiler room next door which was a bit off-putting when trying to get to sleep
Review 4:Breakfast excellent Staff were all very pleasant and helpful Large room with large bathroom
Review 5:A warm welcome from delightful staff. Room very comfortable and a convivial bar with pro secco on tap-what's not to like? In addition the bistro serves delicious meals as well as breakfast.
Review 6:I have no negative comments to make.
Review 7:The room was excellent. Breakfasts were first class and the staff and the service could not have been more friendly. All in all a very happy stay
Review 8:The beds are quite hard and the decoration is tired. Our room was very tiny and the wardrobe was minute.
Review 9:Very nice breakfast, pleasant staff. Location good in the market place.
Review 10:Coming home :(
Review 11:Brilliant location, cosy rooms, charming higgldy piggldy old building, lots of original features, cosy seating, lovely staff & the food in carlins bistro is just delightful! Definitely booking again very soon!!!
Review 12:Very creaky floors in room. Required attention in the hallway and the bath panel had seen better days. Other than the electric blackouts everything else great.
Review 13:The food was absolutely fantastic, the room was very spacious and the bed comfortable.
Review 14:Car parking across the road and behind houses, it would be nice if it was free to hotel patrons.
Review 15:Arrived during a street Food Fare on a lovely day so a real bonus to our trip. Hotel room was excellent as was breakfast next morning.
Review 16:The bathroom was a bit on the small side although clean and adequate. The bathroom could have done with a lick of paint and possibly updating.
Review 17:The room was very comfortable and with plenty of space to move around in. It was like home from home with a settee and large television. The beds were comfortable and the decoration of the room was very pleasant.
Review 18:Having to use a public car park normally a short distance away is a disadvantage
Review 19:Friendly staff. Although car park was not available due to food festival, staff was very helpful re access and information. Very good breakfast in a Georgian dining room full of character..
Review 20:Reason for only a '4' for comfort is noise levels in the room at certain times. Voices could be heard from the adjoining room plus the sound of other's doors opening and closing were boomy. Also could hear footsteps above when lying in bed. I am particularly fussy about noise though so others may not notice at all! Everything else was spot on.
Review 21:Fantastically comfy bed, good room size and friendly staff. Recommend the attached restaurant too.
Review 22:The walls are like cardboard! I could hear the elderly woman next door, coughing and snoring all night. Wouldn't put me off going again, but I'd be taking a pair of ear plugs!!!
Review 23:Friendly staff, great food in the restaurant, lovely comfy warm room
Review 24:Staff very friendly & helpfull, breakfast fresh & substantial. They even rummaged around lost property to find me a phone charger because I forgot mine.
Review 25:The plumbing had a will of its own sometimes and wanted to whine at me. Wasn't intrusive but hey! made ofr an interesting time!
Review 26:breakfast was great and I liked the higgledy piggledy nature of the building
Review 27:All staff really friendly. Love the creaking floorboards had a room at the top lively and quiet. Breakfast was excellent value set us up for the day ahead very relaxed atmosphere
Review 28:The only negative was the wifi was a bit temperamental whilst in the room.
Review 29:I liked everything about the hotel from location to the quietness. A great place to relax in traditional surroundings.
Review 30:The staff were friendly & informative. Breakfast was excellent & they catered well for my dietary needs (lactose-free). I also ate there with a friend in the evening which we both enjoyed. I am registered blind, was traveling alone. The staff could not have been more helpful! I hope to return.
Review 31:We arrived after 2pm and the room wasn't ready. So we checked in and left our bags with reception as we had arranged to meet friends
Review 32:The room was lovely although we were only there for about 8 hours in total. Breakfast was very good
Review 33:Wifi was very unreliable and didn't work in the room.
Review 34:Very friendly, helpful staff. Very clean and decorated tastefully. Loved the bar and sitting area in the Lobby- relaxed and great atmosphere.
Review 35:There was a code for wifi but it didn't work in the room.
Review 36:The staff were lovely - really helpful and friendly. The building was obviously old and quirky with staircases going off at different angles and it was right in town. We ate twice in the restaurant downstairs and they couldn't have been more helpful with my rather difficult diet.
Review 37:We arrived quite late but check in was quick and efficient and we got shown up to our room. They had stopped serving food but easily recommended a few places that should still be open and we ended up at the Spice Club for a brilliant Indian. We were both quite tired so didn't take advantage of the nice nooks and sitting areas in the bar. Breakfast was brilliant.
Review 38:Whilst the refurbished rooms at the front are great, with lovely beds and decor, the ones at the rear of the hotel probably could do with a bit of TLC.
Review 39:Lovely people, great service, breakfast excellent! Perfect location in town.
Review 40:Room had a small window which offered no circulation so the room carried heat which isn't great in summer. The decor was dated and the shower wasn't very good, little power to be had. Also the room was more like a box room and thus i didn't think it justified the price.
Review 41:Breakfast was fantastic as was the service of the staff
Review 42:Not a complaint, but when rooms being cleaned, sheets and towels all over the corridor floors. I know they all work hard and its a fast turn around, but would look even better if kept tidier.
Review 43:Relaxed environment and lovely helpful staff.
Review 44:Bathroom in the single room needs updating (80s avocado shower tray) and the layout leaves no space.
Review 45:Nice bar and restaurant area. Good food if a little pricey.
Review 46:This is the second time we have stayed at the Allerdale and it didn't disappoint. The room was spacious and comfortable, we slept well in the super kingsize bed and there was very little noise despite the hotel obviously being busy. The Cumberland breakfast is perfectly cooked and kept us going all day.The staff are always on hand and always have a smile :)co
Review 47:I liked everything, I was travelling with friends and they had single rooms which were quite small and compact. They did the job and everything else made up for the smallness of their rooms.
Review 48:Location, friendliness of staff, great food.
Review 49:The breakfast was really good , our room was really nice and very clean, the bed was really comfy too, thought it was lovely when we got back to our room and there was an Easter egg from the staff ,
Review 50:No dedicated parking Tired decor
Review 51:Pet pack in the bedroom (water bowl, ball and rawhide bone) Very friendly staff Excellent Cumbrian breakfast Fantastic food in the bistro
Review 52:Very Small Room. Wooden structure. So when somebody walks at top you get disturbed. Bed is very small. NOT a good hotel at all. You will NOT get dinner after 9.00 PM. FAR FAR AWAY FROM Lake Windermere
Review 53:Breakfast
Review 54:A bit tired and shabby behind the scenes. Room was cold with no obvious way to adjust temperature and the bathroom had seen better days. Reasonably clean though.
Review 55:The staff were friendly and the service was very good. Location could not have been better and first impressions 'front of house' were great
Review 56:No hotel parking and unless you paid for public parking you had to find space a few hundred yards away, mainly because its a very old small market town.
Review 57:It was right in centre of town, nice to walk out at night and handy for other pubs etc. Very accommodating friendly staff
Review 58:Staff very friendly and very helpful. Food excellent big chose breakfast and evening meal. Room had everything I needed bed very comfortable and everything was clean. It's second time I stayed there and I will stay again.
Review 59:Cold room, at any time, the radiator wasn't really trying it's hardest. Heating didn't come on until after I got up for breakfast. Bit harsh in the middle of winter!
Review 60:Friendliness of the staff who seemed genuinely happy to help. General ambiance and friendly feel to my visit.
Review 61:The room was somewhat cold on an evening, although I accept the weather was particularly cold during my stay. The siting of the radiator (bed butted up against it) didn't help.
Review 62:The restaurant (Carlin's Bistro) was very good, for both breakfast and evening meal; good food and attentive staff.
Review 63:May not suit people with mobility issues is the only thing to be aware of. (All rooms upstairs)
Review 64:Great friendly staff, varied menu, good portion sizes, big bathroom
Review 65:Parking charges away from hotel and need to renew in morning. Single room v small and noisy, you could hear corridor noise and conversation in next room. Tiny TV.
Review 66:Convenient location. The hotel was clean and smart.
Review 67:The room was freezing, I pulled the bed away from the radiator to help but still very cold, no spare blankets and had to sleep in clothes. The bathroom had a large hole below the fan as mold.
Review 68:I thought the staff and bar/eating area were good and an excellent location.
Review 69:The one unfortunate draw back is the restrictions on parking at the front of the hotel and in the pay and dispaly carpark opposite.
Review 70:The location is excellent for the Nothen Lakes. The town of Cockermouth is clean and with a good selection of retail outlets catering for all tastes and pockets. Carlins bistro is excellent, a good menu selection and good value. the service and friendliness of all the staff should be commended. we had a problem with our room and it was resolved immediatly with out fuss.
Review 71:There was a problem with the key to the room when we first got there. the staff sorted out another room immediately without having to wait. They were all very friendly and helpful, booking taxis for us and advising on the local area. The food was plentiful and very tasty. All in We couldn't fault this place and spent an enjoyable weekend in Cockermouth for my daughter's wedding.
Review 72:The staff were welcoming and helpful, nothing was a trouble to them. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast great. We will definitely stay again if we are in Cockermouth
Review 73:No hotel car park but public car park nearby at reasonable pricealthough I managed to park in loading bay directly outside hotel whichisn't a problem between 6pm and 8am.
Review 74:The staff were all friendly and welcoming. I paid for a superior roomand was not disappointed, modern and comfortable in a traditional hotelwithin walking distance of everything I would need (although the hotelprovided it all anyway). Stayed for both dinner and breakfast and wouldrecommend both.
Review 75:There is no parking facilities so had to park in the supermarket car park across the road. There is space outside of the hotel but this is limited.
Review 76:When we arrived the receptionist was very friendly and took time to show us to our room. The room was spacious and very clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and the service was excellent and my wife described the meal as the best she had had in a long time. This is a massive compliment as we eat out most weekends.
Review 77:The hotel does not have a dedicated car park which is a nuisance but there is a local one nearby. The Wi-Fi does not work throughout the hotel as advertised, especially on the top floor.
Review 78:The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. The meals in the bistro were really good quality and not expensive.
Review 79:One small issue. We were in room 203 and could here all the footsteps from the room above at 1 in the morning.
Review 80:Breakfast lots of choice and all well presented. Great location, Cockermouth is an excellent base for the northern lakes and the town itself is very pleasant.
Review 81:The decor is a little tired upstairs but the ground floor has lots of character.
Review 82:Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovley room with a proper bath. Excellent breakfast. Love the fireplaces and mismatched squashy sofas.
Review 83:Being city centre meant that parking was a bit inconvenient. Also WIFI issues meant that wifi was at best inconsistent- however that was due to BT work and is understood to be temporary.
Review 84:Friendly atmosphere, clean room with massive bed! All in all very comfortable and breakfast was delicious!!
Review 85:If visiting in 2014 travellers should be aware Cockermouth Main Street is being"improved" so one one traffic and revised Bus arrangements, Hotel is good but beware if you cannot manage stairs ask for lower floor room
Review 86:Location at end of Main Street handy for shops and Pubs and (when road re opens) Bus Stops also short distance from Jennings Brewery, good breakfast, comfortable bed. Bistro/Bar next door but not used As and when I return to Cockermouth would book here again
Review 87:The continental breakfast section could be improved.
Review 88:The bedroom was clean and the staff were welcoming. Great value for money, fab location and fantastic cooked breakfast options.
Review 89:No lifts is a problem when your on the top floor and the stairs and steps of varing heights is not compatible with old age. The road works restricted our enjoyment of the town, but that isonly temporary.
Review 90:The staff were really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom was large, with a comfortable bed and the bathroom has his and hers sinks. The breakfasts were excellent.
Review 91:Obviously it is a bar so quite noisy with people drinking until late. WIFI internet access was very weak and patchy. Dated Bathroom fittings and old uneven linoleum flooring rather worn creating water 'puddles' after shower usage. No bathroom mat. No room service.
Review 92:Beautiful big room with charming old style decor! Enormous flat screen TV. Tea and coffee making facilities. Nice shower. Most comfortable sumptuous big beds with very good quality bed-linens and plenty of pillows! Carlin's restaurant was very nice with good food and pleasant attentive service.
