Reviews for The Waverley Hotel
Review 1:Room 6 very cramped and noisy. The floorboards outside are noisy so woken every time anyone came past, sounded like they were coming in my room. Shower was rubbish.
Review 2:Good breakfast
Review 3:Mattress wasn't the best but still slept fine.
Review 4:Breakfast was included and this consisted of cereals and cooked items. Close to train station and tesco garage close. Staff friendly and good budget price.
Review 5:The mattress on my bed needed turning and on some draws the fronts were pulling away. Also, although I didn't need to watch the Tv it wasn't working. My room was also to far away from the source to get WiFi.
Review 6:The location for me, near the station and not far from friends I was visiting. No problem parking.
Review 7:Nothing to dislike
Review 8:The hotel is comfortable and warm with pleasant and helpful staff. We stayed in the two bedroom house which was clean, modern and perfect for our needs.
Review 9:Very noisy as the walls are very thin, when you enter the hotel it's like stepping back in time to the 1970's and half expected Manuél to pop up. For the sake of an extra tenner there are much more pleasant hotels nearby.
Review 10:We were told we couldn't pay for a late check-out past 12 so we had to pay for an extra night even though we were only wanting the room until 4pm.
Review 11:comfortable bed, Value for money
Review 12:Lighting in bedroom was very dim and not really functional. Bathroom was cold as the radiator needing bleeding.
Review 13:Good parking right in front of the hotel. Lovely breakfast, hot, and plenty of it. Warm, clean and comfortable. Bed comfortable and nice linen. We only saw one member of staff on duty, and she was polite and helpful doubling up as check in receptionist and breakfast waitress. Value for money for a one night stopover.
Review 14:We booked a double bedroom it was a family room with bunks very cluttered and claustrophobic no draws for clothes the bed was very close to the wardrobe, doors wouldn't open properly to hang coats and clothes
Review 15:Access to Railway station, staff were courteous and helpful.
Review 16:Hotel is rundown, dirty and miserable. Rooms are filled with DSS scum who behave like primates without giving a second thought about other guests. Staff admit there's nothing they can do about the DSS people if you complain, hotel owner obviously has no pride and is happy to take social services money. My work colleagues who live in Crewe told me the Waverley is regarded as the worst hotel in the area, broken beds, broken windows, filthy carpets, mould in bathrooms, stale smell throughout, lots of noise from adjacent rooms, people talking loudly on the landings most nights, police sirens through the night and boy racers driving round, chunks of dirt often fell from the extractor fan in the bathroom, rooms cold and damp as the radiator only comes on at set times. Signs up everywhere telling you what you can and can't do including don't take food into the hotel. Just ignore it like everyone else does and have a takeaway in your room in the evening.
Review 17:Leaving the hotel knowing I'll never have to stay in such a dump again.
Review 18:Only complaint is the tea flask at breakfast. It was extremely weak, but as I had had tea in the bedroom earlier I didn't mind too much
Review 19:I usually check reviews before booking but this came up on the website when I was trying to get home from Dublin but a delayed ferry meant I could get no further than Crewe. It was wonderful in those circumstances. Very near Crewe Station. Warm, comfortable, and a very welcome stopover for the night.
Review 20:Having to leave early due to family issue (nothing to do with hotel)
Review 21:2 bed apartment was spot on ? over the road from core blimey perfect location will be booking again
Review 22:Was not dirty but everything was quite well used and out dated so didn't have that nice clean feel about it
Review 23:Staff very friendly and extremely helpful
Review 24:There was nothing that we didn't like.
Review 25:Very pleasant staff, very well cooked and full English breakfast, plus cereals , fruit juice ,fresh fruit, tea /coffee selection.
Review 26:Bathroom fan very noisy and went on for ages before stopping, don't switch the bathroom light on in the night !!
Review 27:Nice oldie world style English hotel. No airs and graces just a good little hotel. Centrally located, quiet and comfortable room. Coffee and tea provided. Furniture getting to be old now. Bed and pillows on the hard side. Good hearty Full English breakfast in the price with cereals etc. available. Evening meals served and they have a bar. Would stay again
Review 28:There was nothing that we didn't like - we have stayed in less comfortable places which cost more. It very much suited what we wanted.
Review 29:Value for money
Review 30:I chose this apartment because I couldn't find any one in Manchester but my choice was so worth. I reget staying there only for one night. It was like real home. I highly recommend it.
Review 31:The location was ideal for visiting our daughter and family and having stayed there before we had no doubts on what we were expecting as our review shows and we will return.
Review 32:nothing we have stayed here a number of times and allways good.
Review 33:always a warm wellcome,goodfood/drink and a good nights sleep what more do you want
Review 34:I try to stay at this hotel whenever I'm visiting the area ,usually 4 + times a year .It has always proved clean/comfortable/the staff polite and careing/the breakfasts good and varied/I have always been able to park in their carpark and the price most reasonable. I try to book 4+ weeks in advance on the internet and unlike other premises I have never had a problem.
Review 35:Bed was most uncomfortable and the staff were only moderately helpful and friendly. Didn't get the feeling they liked their job!
Review 36:Close to train station
Review 37:very polite and efficient staff. All the staff members were extremely good at their job, the breakfast was very good, and all the staff members were very helpful and polite
Review 38:Bed was a bit squishy. Only one small bar of hand soap on the sink - no shower gel etc.
Review 39:Twenty minute walk from town, just near the train station. Very friendly lady on reception. Breakfast was delicious
Review 40:The room needed refurbishment, especially the carpet and a bigger TV.
Review 41:Good location, close to the train station and football ground, and only a short walk into town. The bed was very comfy and the staff were friendly and helpful
Review 42:Very squeaky bed. No shampoo. Very weird smell in all my clothes when I got home. Did not respond to request for soya milk and gluten free food
Review 43:Staff
Review 44:Went to watch football, warm welcome, great breakfast and a bargain for the price. It was perfect for what we needed, though if you want luxury then this will not be for you.
Review 45:romms were not that clean .generally had a lack of care all the way through the hotel
Review 46:staff member on arrival was lovely very polite and nothing was to much trouble
Review 47:Very friendly staff that greet you with a smile and very helpful. The meals were excellent and very reasonable . The room was excellent and very comfortable
Review 48:Only downside was the shower doors which come adrift, from their mountings, very easily.
Review 49:Late decision to book, and then had to slightly change plans at the very last minute. The accommodated my changes without fuss and without any penalty. We stayed in one of their 2-bed apartments which is, effectively, a 2-bed terraced house and was extremely clean and spacious.
Review 50:Quiet given this is Crewe. Comfortable room, lots of hot water, solid walls, on site restaurant which is basic food but very good value for money and generous in proportions. No gushing pushy staff. Everything you need given that a hotel is where you sleep not vacation all day!
Review 51:One room smelt damp and the hotel had a fusty smell. Agreed it was an old building and it was clean but we had to spray the room with perfume . Staff were lovely, the grapefruit segments were 'fizzy'!
Review 52:room 2 very noisy, god knows how many times I heard a door slamming. Would be nice to have a pint but not sure if this is possible?
Review 53:good location, nice laid back place. Plenty hot water! Will need to up its game now the crewe arms is a Best Western!!
Review 54:Didnt get breakfast as it was too busy and had to leave to catch my train...so missed out yet again...last time breakfast was burnt
Review 55:Location and comfortable
Review 56:A small fridge in the room would be nice...
Review 57:We stayed there overnight on our way to liverpool. It's perfect value for money if you just need a place to sleep and take a shower.
Review 58:The shower could have been better positioned with a flexible head and with more pressure. The bedside light was on the wrong side (it often is!)
Review 59:Cheerful, willing staff, location and value. Makes a good base for touring the interesting area.
Review 60:Wifi not working despite me emailing a week before to ask for a room with WIFI as their site says its not in all rooms I had a reply from the Manageress she would put us in room with WIFI but after several attempts and codes it turns out the Hotel is I dispute with their provider, fortunately we were only staying 1 night so not a major problem, but if staying longer could have been (tip if going out locally avoid British Lion pub natives not friendly changed hands since last visit)
Review 61:location, plenty of parking breakfast
Review 62:I was only there as a late arriver and early departer on an overnight visit while changing trains. So handy for rail station and for what I needed. Comfortable and friendly.
Review 63:Unfortunately the Wifi didn't work while I was staying.
Review 64:This is a small friendly hotel, very close to the railway station. If you are looking for somewhere inexpensive to stay then this is the place. The food was good - basic home cooked and value for money. Bedroom comfortable. This is not a luxury hotel, but the price would tell you that. As a solo female traveller - would stay here again.
Review 65:Wi-fi not available. One of the reasons i chose this hotel. Upstairs is a bit dated and would benefit from redecorating.
Review 66:Very attentive staff. Close to amenities. Good parking. Nice and clean.
Review 67:The whole experience was wonderful. The 'cottage' was amazing, with it's own little courtyard it was almost like being on holiday!! The whole place was spotless, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was more than adequate. Would definitely stay here again & recommend it to friends & family. Much more than just value for money.
Review 68:The hotel was very tired needs updating .the room we had no 10 was tiny plus the bathroom was damp had to ask for a bath mat which should of been their anyway, towels looked well used.it was ok for that night but wouldn't stay again or recommend it
Review 69:It was a cheap hotel plus it had breakfast included.the staff was nice.
Review 70:whilst I have yet to have a response from the management, there was a huge amount of noise disturbing our nights sleep from 12.45 to 0300 on the night of our stay. It appears that they are not at all interested in the discomfort we experienced. if this had been a premier inn we would have had a full refund . I rang on the Monday and today is Tuesday still no response even though I was told they would ring.I was 10 minutes away from calling the police.
Review 71:I cannot recommend this hotel and suggest you should check to see if there are functions there before making a booking.
Review 72:Rooms rather small and dated. Lounge area also rather small and unattractive
Review 73:Good location near to station though the area is a bit rundown Staff very pleasant and helpful Good breakfast Good value
Review 74:Thin walls. Noisy club outside. And had to have breakfast on the wedding tables which were set up for that evening.
Review 75:Good car park. Nice location to restaurants.
Review 76:Plastic sheets on the beds like in a hospital and old mattresses
Review 77:Like staying in "Crossroads" motel (TV from the 1970's) needs some re-modeling and upgrading. Otherwise staff were nice and the place was clean and tidy
Review 78:Lovely friendly, helpful staff. Perfect location, close to Crewe station. We stayed in the apartment which was spacious and very good value for money.
Review 79:it wasnt a bad experence more of a back to the future.it was very old fashioned, old furniture, old type tv and the en-suite was put in by taking a quarter of the room space. but it was cheap ideal for somebody say working away from home(inc cooked b/fast)
Review 80:the bed was excellent
Review 81:On my booking wasn't told there would be a function so much to my annoyance to get there so tired from another noisy function desperate to rest, only to be welcomed at the door by drunk and chatty ladies and loud music. Now come to the room, was labelled non smoking but was stinking like a tobacco barn. My friend started coughing as she is asthmatic. We opened windows, which could not open wide enough probably due to security features. We decided we were not putting up in that room. I went to see the receptionist who called another older lady, presumably the supervisor or manager. They said they didn't have any other room for us as they were fully booked. I told them that all could have been avoided had whoever was responsible for cleaning had done their job properly. They didn't even apologize but told us to make our mind to stay or leave and left us to decide. I went online to check nearby hotels and guest houses but were all full. We decided to leave for nearby towns hotels. On our way out, the younger receptionist told us that they had 2 outside rooms in another wing but with no shower. Had to go to the main building for shower. My friend and l were already running late for a night event we were suppose to attend. Had planned to have a shower, rest for 2 hours then leave for another function. Against our wish, we accepted those outside rooms as trying to find another place was going to make us even more late. As if the ordeal was not enough, the ensuite toilets were smelly, the wardrobe full of dust at the bottom.I couldn't put on the long dress l had planned to as the hem was visibly dirty after hanging it in the wardrobe. Come breakfast time, l had burnt sausages(with obvious black crusts) probably we appeared like gods who needed burnt offerings.
Review 82:Bathroom smelled strongly of chlorine and bed room smelled musty. I don't like that they charge a penalty for late arrivals. Luckily or train was on time.
Review 83:Very helpful with bikes and stored then securely. Tasty sausages.
Review 84:The dangerous metal staircase to our bedrooms and the fact the doors all needed a good paint. Also a paving slab on the steps to the patio was extremely loose and dangerous.
Review 85:Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was delicious and came very quickly.
Review 86:Saturday night very noisy pub nearby, but ok if keep windows shut, good double glazing fortunately.
Review 87:Lovely lady on desk and waitress at breakfast. Excellent breakfast cooked to order, plenty to eat. Good budget price for stay in a basic room.
Review 88:The hotel was very dated and in a run down part of Crewe. It didn't feel safe to go out at night alone around the hotel. The hotel was very dated and in need of a makeover. The shower cubicles are very small and I had various colours of towels that were quite worn, the bath towels barely covered me they were so small.
Review 89:The rooms and bathroom were extremely clean and the staff very polite and friendly.
Review 90:The noise next door is a large public house open till 2am and incredibly noisy so much so that we didn't get to sleep till way after two am and we're up at 7 to continue our travel so not ideal at weekends when the noise will be at its worst
Review 91:Location
Review 92:The rooms are Unbelievably dated and feel unclean, Either the toilet or the shower was leaking as there was constantly water on the bathroom floor minutes after wiping it up! Room was dark and dingy This place really needs an update.
Review 93:The breakfast is great value
Review 94:limited car parking. Apartment very well catered for, but you are not really able to do self catering as no cooking facilities other than a toaster and microwave.
Review 95:Excellent friendly staff. Food in the restaraunt very reasonably priced and good portions. Breakfast is excellent value and very good. All freshly cooked. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment, which was more like a house. We will definitely stay in the appartment again.
Review 96:The tea at breakfast was already made and left to stew, own personal pot would have been much better and more enjoyable. The room we were given was very small for a twin especially as we had a dog with us and her cage, there was very little room left to move about.
Review 97:Very friendly staff. Lovely breakfast and plenty of it.
Review 98:First room given the toilet did not flush. Wifi poor on occasions.
Review 99:Near the Station. Comfortable room, no noise at night. Excellent breakfast and presentation of it.
Review 100:Not somewhere I'd want to go for a 'comfortable' couples weekend away.
Review 101:Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Close to railway station.
Review 102:The shower cubicle was small & there was no shelf to be able to put toiletries on. The extractor fan was also not working,
Review 103:The bed was exceptionally comfortable & the bed linen was spotless. Service at breakfast was quick & efficient - the food was brought to the table still hot !
Review 104:Lack of a good chair in bedroom 21. An just adequate single size. The bathroom sink is also very tiny with no shelving.
Review 105:The very hot breakfast individually cooked. Location is good for buses and station. I mile out of town centre.
Review 106:Comfortable and clean hotel, convenient car park right in front of hotel. Good breakfast, cooked very quickly after ordering, good choice of cereals etc, very attentive service.
Review 107:The mattress was terrible, lumpy in places and seemed to have sagged in the middle. Could not close the top window, although it was not cold, that was OK. No WiFi connection at all.
Review 108:We really enjoyed the breakfast and had pretty good service by the staff member that served us.
Review 109:It seemed like the staff member was overworked; trying to locate her when I got in was difficult, and when I checked out she was busy serving breakfast. They probably need more staff!
Review 110:Staff member, who I'm fairly sure is the waitress, receptionist and possibly manager, was very friendly. Meals are very cheap and the free breakfast is reasonable enough if you're in a hurry. Shower was hot and had plenty of pressure.
Review 111:Could not get wifi signal, getting from the car park to my room with bags was a struggle. Stairs and doors seemed to go on for ever. TV was too high and too old.
Review 112:Can't fault the staff, made to feel welcome from the start.room service great and enjoyable. breakfast came as plenty to choose from. facilities including room ok. a clean but tired looking hotel.it felt comfortable like being with a family.
Review 113:Laundry was being ironed in the main foyer/entrance hall and there was a pervading smell of drying dampness. It was not worrying but perhaps did not give the right impression.
Review 114:The hotel is easy to access from station and booking in quick and efficient! Convenient for a number of eating places as hotel does not cater at certain times in the evening. Top class breakfast!
Review 115:Rooms look like the last renovation has been 30 years ago (carpets in the bathroom...). There was a wedding party ongoing while we arrived. Very loud and hard to get a sleep until 12 pm.
Review 116:Close to Crewe train station. Free car park.
Review 117:coffee could be better, but this is the only minor thing
Review 118:Good location close to station and restaurants. Really good value budget hotel with good car park
Review 119:I had sandwich and no cooked breakfast earlier on weekend day. Wi-fi in the room but not working very well, unable to stay online all time. Cleaned bathroom but no fresh air in the bathroom.
Review 120:Very polite and friendly staff. Staff keen to help in any problem and to sort it soon. Good comfort and cleaned room.
Review 121:Very dirty and noisy. I was in the grounf floor and I could hear the fire door closing every time that somebody used it. Furthermore I couldn´t sleep becuase one emergency light in the room. I don´t understand why you have these lights inside the rooms. !!!
Review 122:Loaction... Close to the center
Review 123:Tired decor, Shower drain smell, no shelf or holder in bathroom for toiletries either near / above sink or in the shower, Shouldn't have to ask for a shower mat. Tea in flasks at breakfast, easy to provide, not nice to drink after a while. Have stayed before and mentioned all of these things in previous review, now need to act on some of them.
Review 124:Location, car park, thick curtains, comfortable bed, clothing storage space, price, Wifi.
Review 125:All good
Review 126:Nice hotel, friendly check in, small double room, but for the price very fair. Very clean and fresh. Nice cooked breakfast. Very biker friendly would stop here again.
Review 127:The room did not smell great, lots of air freshener or carpet fresh. There was a bath with no shower attachment or even a jug for washing hair. Using the hot water made the most horrendous noise, and the toilet system took forever to refill. There was no bubble bath. The bed was rock hard as were the pillows.
Review 128:The staff were lovely
Review 129:Single duvet left most of me exposed to the outside air (I am over 6ft tall) so had to ask for a double duvet which was promptly delivered. Tiny en suite was almost too small to be useful and the over basin light didn't work. There is no extraction so steamed up windows are a consequence of having a shower.
Review 130:Used Crewe station every day - 5 minute stroll away. Price is very good but probably reflects the slightly tired feel that the interior has. The staff were helpful and smiling and when I requested a double duvet it was there waiting for me in the evening. Breakfast was good but, oh dear, the tea and coffee served in help yourself jugs was abysmal. However, the hotel does do what it says on the tin.
Review 131:Room somewhat dated with some fittings/fixtures missing (loo roll holder). WiFi very weak.
Review 132:One stayed for one night arriving late and leaving early. Staff very accomodating. Hotel close to town centre and industrial/retail parks.
Review 133:No food available from Friday to Sunday, other than breakfast. Although the dinning room was closed at weekends, not able to bring your own food into the hotel.
Review 134:Location. Pet friendly.
Review 135:The location of the hotel is perfect , I used this hotel as a stop off point as I was splitting my journey up as I was travelling to London the next day. 2 mins from train station. Would stay here again
