Reviews for Buchan Guest House
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Brenda & Chris are wonderful hosts – happy, helpful and friendly. It is very clean, well decorated and comfortably furnished. Our room was of good size having a very comfortable double bed. There was an excellent large en-suite with a bath and a very good ‘beam me up Scotty’ shower. The Scottish breakfasts were all very good. I opted for the full Scottish breakfast with haggis and this was first class. There is ample private safe parking to the rear and parking on the road at the front. The road where the house is located is a ‘no through road’, so the only traffic is locals and other tourist going to/from the accommodation. There is WiFi available, which was fine in our room. Buchan House is within easy walking distance of Moffat town centre with a good selection of shops and eating places, we used the Stag hotel and Claudio’s.
Review 3:Great place to stay, run by a lovely couple who gave us the warmest welcome despite the fact that we arrived very late! Room was very comfy and breakfast excellent. We left very contented.
Review 4:Everything was perfect- rooms, breakfast, storage for bicycles, parking. As a group of cyclists riding from Land's End to John O'Groats, Buchan Guest House was a brilliant place to stay. The cycling kit used that day was washed, dried and returned during the evening, nothing was too much trouble.
Review 5:Electric shower not too powerful but it gets you wet then rinses you off ok.
Review 6:Friendly welcome as soon as we arrived in the motorcycles. Room made in garage for extra protection, more from the weather than tea leafs
Review 7:having to go home.
Review 8:Very friendly, very clean with fantastic food. In fact,…we’ve booked to go back all ready. With it been less than, a 5min walk in Moffatt town Where, there is lots of shops and very friendly pubs All serving good food…it’s a lovely place to go and have a day’s shopping and a good lunch. we loved it. Beverley and Anthony.
Review 9:Very friendly welcome - we were late because of hold-ups on the roads and they were fine about it. Bed was comfy - good shower. Breakfast was fantastic.
Review 10:The mattress was quite firm and I wasn't used to that, but I still slept alright because I was so tired.
Review 11:I apprecited how welcomed I was made to feel on arrival and the hosts are both very accomodating. They genuinely care about their guests. It is a very beautiful home inside and out and the guests were quiet and respectful. I felt very safe.
Review 12:Traveling on a motorbike the garage was the perfect place to make sure it was locked away safe overnight. Both the room and breakfast were great. Would definitely stay again next time I came through.
Review 13:The owners are most helpful, the rooms are clean and comfy, having a separate room where you can sit and relax was great, breakfast was ample and sets you up for your day.
Review 14:A very warm welcome from lovely people. A comfortable, well-decorated bedroom, and a sitting room well provided with coffee, tea, and local information. Wonderful breakfasts.

Review 17:The Buchan Guest House is a lovely house it is inviting, warm and friendly. The use of the guest lounge enabled the four of us to converse with other visitors resulting in a very entertaining evening. Our hosts were superb for their friendliness, great food and their knowledge of the surrounding areas. We wished we had booked a longer stay. Rita & Lewis
Review 18:Liked everything !
Review 19:Me and my family (who were visiting from India and America) stayed at Buchan Guest House on 23rd Oct 2014 the night before my wedding at nearby Auchen Castle and we could not have chosen a better place. Chris and Brenda were very considerate and helpful hosts - all requests were met with a smile and good humour. The breakfast was amazing and fresh. Brenda was especially helpful to me and managed to calm my pre-wedding nerves by telling me funny anecdotes and keeping me distracted :D The location is suitable for Moffat / Beattock and for day trips to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Plenty places around for dinner. Would recommend it wholeheartedly and would not hesitate to stay there again.
Review 20:Our stay was short (1 night) but lovely. Everything, from the room and facilities, to the conversation with the owners, was spot on. We had a wonderful cozy room, with a spacious bed and lovely caramal bars next to a cattle. Breakfast was generous and fresh, and the owners were lovely to chat with, answering every question we had and catering our needs. Hope to come back soon!
Review 21:Couldn't fault our stay, well located, quite, friendly, excellent breakfast (try the haggis). Would stay again, anytime we're in the area.
Review 22:The very friendly, caring and helpful Wallace family looked after the needs of all their guests. Providing a drying area for the rain soaked clothes of cyclists, walkers and motorcyclists; accommodation, extra care and attention for disabled guests; a superb breakfast with many choices to suit all tastes. The first floor lounge was great to chill out with a great view over the hills and the bowls field. The sweets provided on the tea trays and the lounge were lovely. The nearby center of Moffat had some good places for an excellent meal and tasting whiskys. It is a great place to stay for a couple of days to explore this part of Scotland, we will certainly return!
Review 23:- Twin room was big with a double and single bed - The room was immaculate - Plenty of storage space for clothes - Nice biscuits in room upon arrival - We were made to feel very welcome - The breakfast was lovely - Very well priced
Review 24:That we were only staying one night this time !
Review 25:Location just off m74 easy to find and in quiet area within walking distance of all facilities in moffat chris and brenda are perfect hosts making you feel welcome as soon as you arrive very helpful nothing is too much trouble for them but at same time they manage to stay in the background . They seem to have thought of everything in rooms and in the lounge and breakfast fantastic everytime . The fact that so many return time and again speaks for itself whether for one night as a stop over passing through or a longer stay the warm welcome is the same
Review 26:Nothing - I could not fault it. Just brilliant.
Review 27:5 minutes from the M74 in the lovely town of Moffat, this is a very friendly place to stay. Chris & Brenda are great hosts. Breakfast was excellent, fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurt etc. plus a number of hot options all of which are freshly cooked. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Overall this is a five star place to stop off on the way up to Glasgow, or further North.
Review 28:Nothing We should have stayed longer and explored, it looked like a lovely place for a weekend stay.
Review 29:Very welcoming Little touches, like biscuits, truffles, free bottled water, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Freshly cooked breakfast to order Clean carpets. More like a small hotel 1 hour to Glasgow on good roads.

Buchan Guest House is spotless absolutely one of the loveliest places we have stayed and we have been around Thank you so much for your help with transport to Glasgow getting up early to make sure we were catered for and a mostly a really enjoyable stay we will be back.
Review 31:I was not happy that they did not know that I was looking for accommodation for me only and had assumed that since I asked for a double room there would be two guests. I prefer a double bed!
Review 32:The Wallaces who run the Guest House are charming and cannot do enough to make you comfortable. I shall certainly return.

Review 84:Perfect location, fantastic hosts and breakfast amazing
Review 85:Even for Germans, there's nothing to complain about.
Review 86:We arrived around 2pm and were warmly greeted by the owners and shown to our room, which was right by the front door. Despite its location the room was quiet, airy and well appointed. Everything was tip-top. The room and ensuite bathroom were clean, the beds comfortable and there was enough cupboard space to stow away our few things for a short weekend. There is also a large comfortable lounge on the first floor with a super view, if you wish to retire and read a book. The breakfast room is large enough, but not too much so as to lose its cosy nature. The choice for breakfast was impressive and we really didn't need to go for lunch after such a hearty feed. The owners are great hosts and very friendly. They do their very best to make yours an enjoyable stay.

Review 91:No negatives at all!
Review 92:The personal touches, such as delcious Scottish biscuits included with tea and coffee and the high quality bathing products. The hosting was excellent: the precise balance of intelligence, care and unobtrusiveness that we appreciate! We would have liked to have stayed longer...
