Reviews for Somerset House B&B
Review 1:The only drawback was the shower where flow of water wasnt great but it wasnt bad either. We could do with it as we were there for 2 days but had we been longer than 2 days we would preferred good flow of the shower. Also there was no private parking but is understandable as there are too many shops and B&B's around. There is pay and park around.
Review 2:Geraldine was extremely helpful. On arrival she gave us the option to pick a room that we like and provided us with tourist places to visit around. My kids were unsettled due to cough and without a question Geraldine offered us stuffs we needed for home remedy. Room was neat breakfast was well served and service provided was great. Geraldine allowed kids to take toys to play in the bedroom. We wanted to have late breakfast and without a word she agreed. Thankfully the B&B wasnt completely full so we could check in and check out as per our Convenience. I would definitely recommend this B&B fto all except those who are fussy people and expect too much. Its def worth the money spent.
Review 3:No complaints whatsoever.
Review 4:Geraldine & Dave were both wonderful. I stayed for 17 days to visit with my sister who's terminally ill in a Nursing Home. They went above and beyond to be supportive. My room was perfect as was the food. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.
Review 5:Rooms a little dated but still very clean & tidy.
Review 6:Made to feel very welcome, even with a 3 year old. Breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed our stay.
Review 7:No bad experiences,
Review 8:Good location in the centre of town. Very welcoming and friendly staff, especially as we arrived past checkin hours (though we did phone to say that we were held up). A nice little village and close to Cartmel, Flookburgh and under and hour to Coniston
Review 9:The hosts were so friendly and welcoming...nothing was too much trouble for them and their advice on places to visit was appreciated with young children.
Review 10:No parking available on the premises but we managed to park along the road within easy walking distance so it wasn't really a problem.
Review 11:Staff were lovely. They were so helpful and welcoming.
Review 12:It was unfortunate that we were woken at 2 in the morning by a very noisy couple returning from a night out. Our room was right beside the bathroom that they used. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable.
Review 13:It was in a good location.
Review 14:No parking. Arrived back at the room on the 2nd day to find a key in our door(which wasn't ours) and the door unlocked.we never raised the issue because we are not the type, but wasn't comfortable about it.
Review 15:Extremely quiet place which is in keeping with the area - good for a relaxing rest from hectic lifestyles.
Review 16:Only downside is deciding on your cooked breakfast choices the night before. I know it helps preparation for the hotel but I did fancy something different in the morning...
Review 17:For the one night we stayed it suited us very well. The room was nice and clean and the power shower superb. Wifi good which is needed in the Lakes due to poor mobile signal. Location good for local pubs and things to and see. Breakfast was very nice. Geraldine was helpful and attentive.
Review 18:Central location, Calm, Friendly house, Lovely management, Clean and comfy, Breakfast service is good, Pet friendly, Helpful and didn't have problems with early check in
Review 19:Could not fault anything. The staff were brilliant.
Review 20:Everything was of a high standard and the breakfast was outstanding. The fact that we only booked 2 days before our stay they really tried hard to please even to the point of allowing us to book in early.
Review 21:We didn't like the beds as there was a what appeared to be a pillow under the covers which we weren't sure if it was supposed to be there but it made it a very uncomfortable sleep.
Review 22:We liked the location, the tea and coffee facilities in the room and we were made to feel very welcome by Geraldine and dave.
Review 23:We had some trouble with the water pressure so our shower stopped mid way through and our toilet stopped filling. We checked out shortly afterwards so couldn't comment on their efforts to resolve the issue.
Review 24:The owner is a wonderfully interesting and pleasant lady, we didn't meet her husband unfortunately. We loved the location and very much enjoyed the breakfast.
Review 25:I have nothing bad to say
Review 26:We are a young couple but we didn't feel talked about or stared at it was homely and beautiful the staff was amazing best new year I've ever had so relaxing
Review 27:Location - next to a church with a grave yard. It is also a few doorsfrom a funeral home. If I am on holiday I want to be happy and notsleeping close to a grave yard.Decor of the B&B - everywhere is dated. For that sort of money we paid I know we could find somewhere much better and comfortable. Parking - there is no offstreet or onsite parking. You park, if you can find a space, on the main road, but have to move the car by 10 a.m. otherwise you will get a parking ticket. Restaurants - not many. A Chinese, a pub, and a Fish & Chips, that's all.
Review 28:Owners were reasonably friendly
Review 29:At breakfast spoiled the stay for me haveing to keep moving because a space behind our table had loads of toys, books, games etc and there seemed to be more children than adults this ruined a darn good breakfast

Review 89:nothing ,grange is grange so u know what to expect..
Review 90:good clean comfy rooms. friendly & helpfull staff .good location for grange & south lakes..
Review 91:The host Geraldene was very welcoming and very friendly. Our room was spacius and comfty but it didnt have a bath, which was dissapointing, however i should have checked before i booked,as am sure this would have been pointed out to me. The located is a little isolated in relation to family friendly restaurants, and it did appear to be a place for people a little older in life. But overall somerset house is a loverly place to stay, and i would recommend it, and hopefully will return for a longer stay. I forgot to mention how loverly the breakfast was !
Review 92:Dave and his wife went out of their way to make us welcome, he even gave us a lift into Cartmel so that we could go to a family friendly restaurant for a meal that evening. Such a lovely friendly place , would definately visit again and not hestiate to stay at Somerset House
Review 93:Geraldine and Dave are wonderful hosts and very helpful. I was taken illbriefly and Geraldine was very considerate. It is very handy for otherplaces such as Kendal.
Review 94:Far from the lake district. Not much to do around.
Review 95:Decent size family room for 4 adults plus luggage. Excellent breakfast. Not far from the water which is very nice.
Review 96:Received a really warm welcome on arrival and shown to bedroom which was a nice touch! Breakfast was quick to arrive and very tasty in the comfortable dining room downstairs. Owned by a couple, but only saw one - Geraldine - who I never saw without a smile and was very helpful with directions on the local area.
Review 97:We received a warm welcome and were very happy with the size andfurnishings in our room. Everything we needed was on hand and theensuite was very clean. We especially appreciated being able to have anevening meal in the hotel as it was a wet night, and that and thebreakfasts were excellent. Although our room was overlooking the roadwhich was busy during the day, the nightime was very quiet and we had agood nights sleep both nights. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Review 98:I found two little things to be picky about; but they may matter to someone. It was pleasing to see the Rainbow Flag displayed in the front window but I was concerned to find it posted upside down. The original design has the red stripe should be at the top! The building's history is nicely documented and on display in the lobby. The original owners were from Bridgwater... hence, the name "Somerset House" (Bridgwater is in Somerset)... but unfortunately, the author got caught out by spelling; only one "e" in Bridgwater, Somerset. Not to be confused with Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.
Review 99:Friendly, comfortable, clean and tidy. Nice breakfast too.
