Reviews for Hunters Lodge Hotel

Review 1:Staff were not very attentive, booking in was not smooth. Rooms were clean but decorated in an old fashioned way.

Review 2:Good location, adequate space, rooms cold. Good breakfast.

Review 3:Everything! The hotel is simply brilliant and I'm a very critical person. Couldn't find a single fault, I had been staying at a dump of a hotel called the Waverley but checked out as it was so bad. Booked into the Hunters Lodge and was so relieved when I arrived. The staff were very friendly whilst checking in and my room was lovely. Food in the restaurant was excellent and I couldn't fault anything, the room was very modern and comfortable with a very smart bathroom.

Review 4:Unusually room especially bathroom was cold! Had to put the extra blanket (thoughtfully left in wardrobe) on bedplus a teeshirt and spent minimum time minimum time in bathroom. Appreciate it was very cold night but think timer switch needs to be adjusted. Bar was also not very warm. Apart from that hot great

Review 5:bed not comfortable, lip coming through door with no warning sign, it would be a good idea to put grab rails in shower,

Review 6:we enjoyed our stay staff very helpful and pleasant, location good.

Review 7:It ticked all the boxes for my stay which was business. I like the fact that you can still order food up to 9.45 pm, which is great for someone like myself who sometimes has to work late, then your not worrying about picking up a takeaway and either eating in your car or room. Thankyou

Review 8:The rooms were a little dated so felt we had overpaid for the room aspect. We weren't warned there was no bath just a shower which did leak, however as soon as the staff were made aware of this they did move us to another room which again was dated but nice.

Review 9:The staff were excellent, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The food was very good but a little overpriced.

Review 10:Difficultyfinding room on arrival with complicated layout. Eventually taken, surely this should happen always, or at least for elderly couple, one disabled. Superior room should have larger bed than 4'6.

Review 11:Friendly helpful staff, relaxed bar meals in evenings. Good parking.

Review 12:The setting and surroundings were great, the room was clean and we had a very comfortable nights sleep. The breakfast the next day was delicious and service attentive and spot on. The value for money compared to other local hotels is extremely good, I would stay here again.

Review 13:Very cold on arrival. No heating on although we were two hours later than we had said! Had to stay in bed until the room warmed up. Otherwise very good.

Review 14:Last time I raved about the staff. This time, I observed a member of the older staff resting his hand on the back of a diner's seat while he orchestrated dinner service during a Murder Mystery night - no big deal but indicative of his lapse in understanding the etiquette of guest dining - it is not "school dinners". So no need to "get them in and get them out". Apart from that one observation, observation, staff are spot on. The food though, is nothing special at all and they could enhance the place by offering fine dining.

Review 15:The accommodation, the Housekeeping, the bar and restaurant staff.

Review 16:Friendly welcome. Am frequent guest as up every few weeks dealing with my late husbands estate and appreciate staff being unobtrusive but always there to help

Review 17:Nothing to dislike.

Review 18:Location in a quite area, breakfast and evening meal was good. Staff very polite. Will certainly be staying there again when in the area.

Review 19:Stay frequently at Hunters Lodge as I am assured of comfort and being looked after unobtrusively. Always disappointed if they can't accommodate me. Have stayed at other hotels in Crewe without same level of comfort. Are and cleanliness

Review 20:Basic, dated room, dust on various bits in the room, hairdryer attached inside a drawer so very difficult to use. Stingy on the ameniyues in room (4 teabags for 2 people). Food adequate. Overall I feel it was overpriced.

Review 21:Quiet location, staff friendly.

Review 22:It is off road ,making it very quiet. Loads of parking space. The Bar and Bar Meals very good and reasonably priced, saving the effort of going into Crewe to find a Restaurant

Review 23:The location from motorway and parking were very good and plenty of space. Good variety menu and the food was well presented, hot and could not be faulted. All staff very pleasant and helpful on both journeys going to and on our way back from our holiday.

Review 24:Noisy hotel guests on Saturday night - we realise this was out of the hotel's control. Access / number and location of electrical sockets was limited and caused problems. Need to provide extra ones close to the bed.

Review 25:Reception staff very helpful even though there was an issue with payment on leaving (hotel's error). Breakfast on Saturday was excellent but the breakfast buffet on Sunday was disappointing and we were unaware of the different arrangement. Room quiet on Friday night but not so good on Saturday night due to the bar being open until 3.00 a.m. - nothing the hotel could do about it but it meant a very bad night's sleep for both my husband and I as other guests returned to their rooms up until then.

Review 26:everything was fine.

Review 27:It was a reasonable price for a one night stop over. I was on a course and needed somewhere decent to sleepover. Its a fairly modern building with a large, convenient, car park. I don't like to have to keep passing reception and so, being on the ground floor of an annex building suits me perfectly. The corridors were narrow but that is a minor. The room looked over a green field. The bathroom and facilities were superb...better than Premier Inn. TV was a large flat screen and wifi free too. Bed was comfortable. Check in was easy too. I'd recommend it to friends since there aren't many options in that area.

Review 28:Receptionist could not have been more helpful, all with a smile. At breakfast the staff were also good, I was leaving before cooked breakfast served, but they made me up a lovely bacon sandwich to eat on the run. Room comfortable, clean and very functional.

Review 29:Maybe breakfast could be served till 10am on a weekend , 9;30am was a bit early to stop serving when a wedding reception had taken place the night before.

Review 30:The Hotel was Clean , friendly , lovely room , the bar area is very inviting

Review 31:Finding a cash point machine was difficult would be nice to have one onsite however this did not detract from our stay and how we rated the place or staff I would still say they were excellent.

Review 32:Staff were very friendly and helpful, overall the stay was very nice.

Review 33:there was nothing to dislike . spotlessly clean, excellent welcome , friendly staff , breakfast was well prepared , good choice , more than ample parking beautiful gardens well presented

Review 34:Food was generally good but a little bland and tasteless - not marinated in sauces long enough.

Review 35:Staff were very friendly. Very good for disabled people. Pleasant outdoor areas and bars. Well appointed.

Review 36:Small thing but barmaid didnt serve gin and tonic with ice or lemon and did not ask if I wanted either .

Review 37:This is a nice hotel; very good location just off the M6 . we ate in the bar for 2 nights and the food was good as was the service. We will definately stay again when travelling south from Scotland.

Review 38:We didn't like having to pay in full on check-in, with no option to pre-authorise the card. It was noisy due to a wedding and the music Could be heard in our room. The restaurant was not available as it was used for the wedding, not normal guests like us. Finally, the breakfast was chaotic, and the hot buffet ran out of some items before we ate and the kitchen didnt replace them.

Review 39:The location is very good and the wifi is free and fast.

Review 40:Our breakfast order was forgotten so we waited ages,

Review 41:Once breakfast arrived it was great. Overall very good value for money and very happy with our one night stay

Review 42:If I had to be picky , maybe the decor in the bar

Review 43:Every thing , the car park was large, the staff where brilliant the Food was fabulous, The gym facility's where good , clean and modern.

Review 44:dear Hunters Lodge...I don't like yor sausages! Please could you also offer yoghurt at breakfast?

Review 45:Well appointed rooms ( important to say we chose superior room) The friendliness and helpfulness of reception The price! I think that this hotel provides good value for money.

Review 46:friendly staff, quality food (large main meal), that is in the bar restaurant. There is also an additional large "posh" restaurant - where prices are higher. Ample car park

Review 47:lovely and clean, staff were very helpful and obliging, we attended a family wedding in the autumn suite, the food was delicious and plentiful! lovely service from waiting on staff!

Review 48:Stayed at the hunters lodge before that why we booked again as staff very friendly nice rooms and bathroom super can't fault it,as we have family in wheelock it's nice have them to come and have a eal with us which the staff are always helpful a 10 out of 10 from us

Review 49:The size of the double room was great but unfortunately the room had a really bad damp smell. I had to open the windows to try and get rid of it. The bed was comfy but the room quite 'tired' looking. Could do with a little modernisation.

Review 50:Friendly attentive staff. Good service.

Review 51:Comfortable bed - one of the best overall. Good size tv. Excellent breakfast for £5 extra though room shown without breakfast on initial search. Good parking.

Review 52:We stayed one night at this hotel to break a long journey and were very impressed. It was in a lovely setting and the staff were very friendly. We had a meal in the bar and it was excellent.

Review 53:We didn't have a bad experience but found the location rather odd. The hotel is obviously more of a wedding venue/function suite than a leisure break hotel.

Review 54:Nice outlook from bedroom. Good English breakfast. Evening meal was nice although not great variety on menu. Staff were friendly.

Review 55:Bed in standard room a bit of a marshmallow and room a bit like a dorm. Upgraded rooms so much better.

Review 56:The upgraded room was very good. Def worth the extra £10. Much larger and firmer bed. Staff lovely. Breakfast excellent.

Review 57:Completing this - no 'other' option for us to use. Answer completed - wrong

Review 58:We visited to attend a wedding reception held in the hotel - so location was perfect however, if I was visiting anywhere locally - I would definitely book on here. Not the cheapest hotel but safe, clean, friendly, excellent facilities, beautifully present food in evening and breakfast. Waitresses could not have been more friendly or more helpful. We have stayed in many hotels across the country - from budget to luxury. This was very high on our list and we will recommend to anyone visiting the area. Thank you. TYPE of traveller options do not allow me to put in mature sisters - so the answer above is incorrect - no choice

Review 59:musty smell in the ensuite. Small rooms and TV No undercover parking for the motorbikes

Review 60:Newly refurbished. Comfy bed. Very good breakfast. Pleasant, friendly staff. Location suited why we where in the area.

Review 61:Stayed for 3 nights and held our wedding lunch at this hotel. All meals were very good indeed especially our wedding lunch. The staff were professional and friendly throughout our stay.

Review 62:I wouldn't say we had a bad experience during our stay but the constant buzzing from the plant machinery outside the bedroom window was quite annoying

Review 63:friendly and professional approach of all staff, with special reference to the dining room staff for their pleasant personalities and speed speed of service.

Review 64:The staff are very friendly and helpful, room was great and plenty of parking close to the rooms - I don't travel light! Left the 'Do Not Disturb' sign up on day 2 and came back to find fresh towels, toiletries and refreshments hanging on the door. Great location for Oulton Park, around 30 minutes away. Couldn't have asked for better.

Review 65:Nothingho

Review 66:Lovely food for the wedding reception of which there was loads. Friendly and helpful, but unobtrusive staff. Really comfy bed. Lovely breakfast.

Review 67:Breakfast - food was good quality and staff willing and polite. However food was very greasy as all fried and need better coordination to bring milk with tea, butter with toast etc

Review 68:Staff were friendly and organised a change of room as my husband was injured and could not manage the stairs.

Review 69:Tablecloth not clean at breakfast. Taxi service used by hotel not reliable re arrival times - I had to catch a train and only just made it,

Review 70:Clean spacious room and bathroom and free wifi.

Review 71:Very poor service, was not asked if everything was OK when checking out, change the staff and the hotel would be great experience!!!

Review 72:Nice Accommodation, walking distance to town centre

Review 73:non working radiator, noisy radiator, no shelf in shower, booking mix up on arrival, poor/cheap toilet paper expelair noisey.lightswitch to toilet misplaced

Review 74:location

Review 75:A few quibbles only, no real dislikes. Access to Bar area not the best if a function is in progress/being cleared away.

Review 76:Helpfulness and cheerfulness of staff. Breakfast and Bar Meals

Review 77:Nit picking really, but someone who is hard of hearing the fix volume on the TV, was set far too low. Even my partner who has very good hearing commented on how low it was set. If you can't hear what's being said, there is no point in providing a TV in the first place. Sure it does not need to so low, a little louder would not disturb other guest with the room we were allocated.

Review 78:I used this hotel as a night stop to attend a family christening the following day. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. Check in was quick. Our allocated room was clean and warm. all the usual facilities were available in the room, coffee, tea & biscuits. On suite bathroom was modern. All in all our stay was a pleasant one. Would use this hotel again if in the area.

Review 79:Possible noise from other rooms. ( not a problem for us on a Sunday night).

Review 80:Close to motorway. Welcoming staff. Nice clean roomy bedroom and bathroom. Views over open fields. Good bar meals.

Review 81:Having to leave to go home.

Review 82:The hotel was great, location was perfect for our needs, staff were very helpful, food was the best, great value for money, will definitely stay again.

Review 83:noisy kept awake by shutting doors at 2am and walls were so thin I felt that I was sharing a room with my neighbours turing in bed and creaking floors - therefore disturbed sleep all night

Review 84:cleanliness

Review 85:Nothing to dislike!

Review 86:This is our 3rd stay here and the staff have always gone over and above to help us, we arrived early from Devon and they allowed us to have breakfast even though we couldn't check in until the afternoon, on another occasion we were early and they gave us complimentary coffees and rushed our room through so we could go in early. The place is very clean and the food is excellent.

Review 87:Bed was bit small double but request for quiet room had been fulfilled.

Review 88:Breakfast was very tasty haddock&poached egg and Full English for husband. Very generous portions. Staff were friendly.

Review 89:None

Review 90:It was my first visit to this hotel and won't be the last.Staff here very friendly, cheerful, welcoming and always eager to assist.it's unfortunate I couldn't stay longer, but will make here my next holiday destination.

Review 91:Pillow cases on spare pillows had not been checked for previous use. I am sure that this was not due to used pillows being put back into plastic case in wardrobe by staff but should be checked for cleanliness on routine basis

Review 92:We wanted a reasonable hotel close to Crewe railway station to catch a special early morning train and we were pleased with our choice. The staff were all helpful and friendly and the food was good. The bed was comfortable, our only problem was that the room was hot and became uncomfortable through the night. It should be said that we had no heating on and we were well away from the kitchens. A lower TOG duvet would have a welcome improvement. We also liked the position of the hotel just on the edge of Crewe but looking out over the countryside.

Review 93:Some furniture in the room was a bit dated and worn. TV could have been a bit bigger in size. Not sure if the hotel had free wifi or not?! If it did we couldn't find it or have any information on it.

Review 94:The size of the room and cleanliness of the room and bathroom were to a good standard. We went for a drink and pudding in the bar after a day in Chester and that was very plesant with helpful staff and reasonably priced. The TV had a range of channels. The breakfast was amazing with great choice both hot and cold.

Review 95:The reception was almost rude with me, a smile was never on the cards! The room was a cold, couldn't do nothing about it... The price was including breakfast, and they charged me for it!

Review 96:The staff-apart from the reception, was very kind and helpfull, the space, large parking lot, very clean and quiet area

Review 97:Conveniently near the Motorway, centrally placed in Cheshire, plenty of parking. The accomodation was good and the food I had in the bar/restaurant was excellent. Very pleasant and efficient staff and very reasonable prices.

Review 98:Receptionist could have been a bit friendlier when we checked in but to give the benefit of the doubt, it may have just been a long day .. she was fine and chatty the next morning on checking out.

Review 99:Great value for money. Lovely hotel in nice but convenient location. Great breakfast. Would stay again if in the area.

Review 100:For what we needed a B&B for it was great, something clean and modern with a good breakfast & no late night revellers disturbing us. No complaints at all.

Review 101:Nothing really could have made out stay better, but from reading other reviews it might be a good idea to warn guests in advance if a big party or wedding is being hosted.

Review 102:This has to have been the most comfortable night's sleep I've ever had in a hotel, the bed was cs comfortable. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and both the breakfast and dinner exceeded our expectations! We will be back!

Review 103:Mattresses bit too hard for good nights sleep. Would have liked free Internet access in rooms.

Review 104:Room spacious, staff friendly and helpfull, poached eggs excellent!

Review 105:There was a constant 'hum' from the bathroom all night which kept us awake. Tried all sorts of things but couldn't get rid of it!

Review 106:It was just a few minutes drive from the church where we were attending a wedding - which was why we booked it

Review 107:Unfortunately for us the meals were far too expensive, but we were close enough to towns where we could eat out, travelling by car of course. This did not spoil our break in any way though.

Review 108:Comfort, cleanliness, peacefulness and the situation of the hotel to towns. The view we had from our room was of open fields...wonderful!

Review 109:I paid £51.50 with no breakfast for a double room when I could have had a single for less with breakfast. As I booked for one person I expected a single room.

Review 110:Ease of parking, friendly and helpful pleasant staff, Clean rooms and bathroom. I did try to find fault but could not. Have booked for a future occasion. My daughter had her wedding reception here 20 yrs ago!

Review 111:Excellent staff. Superb breakfast. Comfortable. Nice and quiet. Ideal location for our needs. This was our 3rd visit and will definately go there again next year.

Review 112:Some disturbance during night due to two wedding parties being accommodated at the hotel. Probably unavoidable on a Saturday this time of year.

Review 113:Out of town quiet location within easy reach of centre of Crewe. Room and facilities good and clean and room backed onto open fields. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 114:No complaints. Very comfortable stay.

Review 115:Came from out of town for a family wedding. Found the rooms comfortable and very clean. Plenty of fresh towels. Good power shower and all the shower gels and soap you would expect. Didn't have breakfast ourselves but all food at wedding was outstanding and the bride and groom who also stayed said breakfast was fab. Good value and staff fantastic.

Review 116:This is all just nit-picky stuff... The beds are a little bit soft for my taste - I'm used to a very firm matress, but I did have a good sleep. The shower cubicle really was poorly designed - shower head was not on a flexible hose; the shower curtain was not up to the job of containing the spaey; the mixer was difficult to control. But it was powerful and hot/cold enough.

Review 117:Good location for what I wanted. The room I was in was fairly quiet and I got a good rest. 24hour reception was useful as I arrived/left at odd hours. Plenty of parking Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Review 118:The only fault that I could comment on; was the machinery noise coming from the buildings and equipment outside our room window, although it didn't keep us awake it was a little annoying at times as we had to have our windows open for the warmth in the room. But Hey; not the end of the world!

Review 119:Our very Pleasant welcome on arrival by your Saturday afternoon reception staff, along with the greeting on Sunday morning by both reception and breakfast waiting staff. The breakfast was first class, room very clean and comfortable. My wife and I enjoyed the entertainment as we watched a fox in the field adjacent trying to catch his breakfast. overall a very pleasant and welcoming stay.

Review 120:Arrived soaking following motorcycle ride from the IOM ferry and the late porter was extremely courteous and efficient and started my 1 night stay off to a good start. Breakfast was well cooked and presented in a buffet style and again the staff were very helpful and courteous .

Review 121:Signage to indicate where reception was situated not very good. Reception staff not very helpful, probably too concerned with wedding guests.

Review 122:Price and breakfast.

Review 123:It was all ok

Review 124:The room was comfortable and clean. No noise. Good view if the fields. The food was excellent. I enjoyed the home cooked but interesting styles and everything was extremely tasty. Well worth it fir the grub :-)

Review 125:There was nothing to dislike . My wife and i enjoyed our stay and will definitely go again.

Review 126:The friendly atmosphere of the hotel and bars. The food was out of this world cooked to perfection. The gardens were perfect.

Review 127:I work hard and I'm not shy of spending a bit extra for quality but the price I paid for this hotel does not reflect it's features absolute waist of money.

Review 128:The food was perfectly cooked and didn't have to wait long
