Reviews for Lattice Lodge
Review 1:No bad experience at the B and B at all.
Review 2:The host could not have been more helpful. My wife was having a major operation at the nearby Ipswich Hospital. Since we live over an hour away I needed to stay locally. If you have to do the same, this is the B and B for you.
Review 3:As vegatarian we were well catered for. They provide a very good satisfying breakfast. Ensuite Room was roomy and clean. Our stay was very pleasant - this was our second stay.
Review 4:Very calm and relaxing guest house. Perfect location. Friendly staff. Martin the owner very polite person, always happy to help with information etc. Very comfortable bed with good bed linen. We had really good rest. Very clean and cosy room. Shower cabin a bit tiny and found it difficult to use the shower but nothing to complain about for a short stay. Very good breakfast has been served. We highly recommend this place. More than happy to visit it again.
Review 5:Not quite central, you better have a car
Review 6:Extremely personalised environment Cleanliness and comfort of the room Great caretaking by owner Eco-friendliness Beauty of the house Free parking
Review 7:Martin was friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and spotless. Although very near a small roundabout it was quiet. Make sure in the car park that you don't block anyone in. Some people need to leave early - but again no noise disturbance. On the bus route for the town centre.
Review 8:nothing!
Review 9:The owner, Martin welcomed us warmly, we could tell he cares the place from how he treated us and every small details of the room. Very clean, the breakfast was nice, we were very happy.
Review 10:the only problem was we were at the front of the hotel and it really needed some lace or light curtains which you could close
Review 11:really friendly staff and other customers, very enjoyable rest
Review 12:Some of the breakfast menu wasn't available. And I appreciate these are the scourge of all hotels, irrespective of cleanliness, but the room we were in had a bed bug and I got bitten
Review 13:Nice room, good breakfast, fast free wi-Fi
Review 14:On arriving at the property and given the "the tour" not really what I wanted after a 10 hour car journey but felt obliged to go on it, but I wasnt very impressed that the house cat Missy was roaming around the kitchen!! Probably be ok for some people but not for me ( the kitchen did look very cleam though to be fair). Terrible shower hardly enough pressure to wash properly. Breakfast only served within an hour window wasnt great when your paying over £200 for 2 nights B&B, the food was ok but not as great as other reviews I read (and £7.50 and only 1 sausage, bit tight I thought!) Biggest gripe for me though was sometimes the attitude of the fella Martin wasn't the best as I'll explain below ... Apparantly there's a private garden section on the side of the house (which wasnt explained beforehand) and when kids ran around the side to explore, I went to get them and we were greeted by the owner waving his remote and shouting private at us through his window... Surely if private then then the side should either have a gate to stop people entering or some kind of signage??!! Another strange one was the cleaner leaving room keys lying around on the floor for anyone to be able to pick up, these rooms might have been empty I dont know, but I wouldnt like potentially having a key to my room lying around on the floor that anyone could pick up and use to enter the room! Pointless in my opinion, why not just keep the keys on their person ... And when I picked the keys up to give back to the owner Martin, thinking someone might have dropped them, I was greeted again by a short sharp "just put them back where you found them" ... I had to try really hard then to bite my toungue and just walk away! Dont get me wrong most of the time he was fine but your paying good money to stay there and I would expect to be spoken to politely 100% of the time!!!
Review 15:Good parking and come and go as we pleased with regards to arriving back at the property late. Facilities for card payments was good. Bathroom was good apart from the terrible shower. Overall the property was very clean to be fair cant fault that at all. Free Wi-Fi was also great.
Review 16:Cramped en suite layout. TV small by modern standards
Review 17:Host is very welcoming, and helpful. Excellent breakfast, and support of self catering for evening snack . very good WiFi signal.
Review 18:Location great. Close to everything you need, laundry, bank, garage, shop, cafe restaurants, genuine Pub. Owner offered lots of suggestions when asked. Room very comfortable.
Review 19:This isn't a complaint but personally I feel the only improvements to make a more enjoyable stay would be Weetabix added to cereal selection and normal bacon, as only smoked bacon available, although it was probably the best smoked bacon I have ever had and fried bread not available.
Review 20:The owner and staff went out of their way to do everything you asked for, rooms are comfortable and clean there's a guest fridge to keep things cold and a wonderful conservatory and garden to sit in, thank you for a wonderful few days.
Review 21:Martin gave us a great welcome and offered us plenty of local advice on where to eat & drink etc. Great parking for our van. Nice couple of pubs very close by. Spotlessly clean, immaculate very comfy rooms. Highly recommend this place.
Review 22:Just a quick weekend getaway for us, as we live about an hour away, but wanted to spend a few days in Ipswich without having to complete the return trip the same day. Our host, Martin, was THE BEST! He gave us some splendid recommendations for things to do and places to eat...he even offered to make some reservations for us. You can't improve on that kind of customer service. ☺️ Breakfast was locally sourced and wonderful. Will be back!
Review 23:No face cloths!
Review 24:The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The host Martin was helpful. Very enviromentally conscious but no face cloths. Great stay!
Review 25:We were a party of seven - adults and young adults; the triple room was a godsend to accommodate my three grandsons. Had no trouble driving straight to the door. Were welcomed in very friendly fashion. Had an excellent recommendation for an evening meal. Wonderful breakfasts. Nice residents' lounge.
Review 26:Nothing
Review 27:Really comfortable bed, good sized room. Fantastic breakfast. Loved the attention to detail throughout our stay. Martin runs an excellent establishment. Will definitely stay there again
Review 28:All aspects of the place, clean, tidy and the staff were friendly, inviting and helpful. There was lots of info about the surrounding area in a folder in the room.
Review 29:Would have been nice to have the option of opening the larger window, was a little hot with 3 adults in the summer. Also the doors need adjusting as we were woken from 6.45 to the sound of slamming doors frequently.
Review 30:Great location, helpful owner reasonable price.
Review 31:Very good communication from the owner and a very friendly welcome. Lovely room with a comfortable bed and nice decor
Review 32:The location was very good and plenty of car parking spaces. Breakfast was very nice and local produce was used.
Review 33:Smells of cats.very cold. Unfriendly welcome
Review 34:Strong smell of cats and very cold.
Review 35:The breakfast
Review 36:Martin was a good host, bed comfortable, delicious breakfast. Perfect location for our theatre booking.
Review 37:Absolutely nothing
Review 38:Room & breakfasts
Review 39:Strange location and room had windows on to corridor. Would have rather paid £60 not £75.
Review 40:Friendly staff, clean, comfortable.
Review 41:Friendly host, comfortable and clean accommodation. Located on the main road but set back far enough to avoid too much traffic noise.

Review 58:Friendly but not overbearing hospitality. Excellent fresh breakfast. All staff helpful and courteous - have the time to chat.
Review 59:Nothing!!
Review 60:Excellent place to stay, with great breakfast and very friendly staff!
Review 61:Shower way too small
Review 62:Comfortable beds
Review 63:We found a well run B&B with excellent attention to all details.
Review 64:We have stayed there several times and always find it a friendly and welcoming place.
Review 65:No dislikes
Review 66:The attention to detail and positive attitude of the proprietor.
Review 67:Only had two days- I would happily stay for much longer!
Review 68:All very good, great host and breakfast.
Review 69:NOTHING AT ALL!
Review 70:Everything! Martin was extremely hospitable, warm and friendly. The premises was immaculate and from outside, you would never imagine the lovely spacious interior. The back doors led out to pretty garden and there was a bright, comfortable guest lounge. Nothing was too much trouble for Martin and breakfast with local produce was delicious! We all loved it at Lattice!
Review 71:Though it din't affect me much, I feel there were not many options for vegans at breakfast. This could be improved.
Review 72:24 hr self check in. Quality of Breakfast was awesome.
Review 73:We stayed at the Lattice Lodge recently as all larger hotels were fully booked. I'm very thankful I did book here as it was lovely! Our room was extremely comfortable and cosy and clean. It's very clear the owner takes pride in his business and ensuring the customer is happy. A lot of the food etc in the lodge is locally sourced and it's clear to see everything is environmentally friendly. We were very happy and comfortable for the night and will definitely choose the Lattice Lodge again if we travel nearby
Review 74:The entire hotel was amazing! The staff were wonderful and friendly, incredibly accommodating and the most helpful I've ever encountered in my travels. I can't recommend this hotel high enough! A must stay if you are in Ipswich!
Review 75:Martin was great, very friendly, helpful and obviously enjoyed what he does. This shows in the whole place. He pointed us in the direction of a very good evening meal and breakfast was excallent. I would definitely stay there again.
Review 76:The bathroom door stuck so was not easy/quick to open door, the shower was very dated considering a lot of money and attention had been paid to everything else a new shower would have finished off the renovation completely.
Review 77:The room was very comfortable, the linen and quilts were clearly very good quality, the added touches in the bathroom was noted, cottonwood balls, cotton buds etc, nice touch to have three different bath towels with matching hand towels as there we three of us in the room so we decided what colour each of us was and it made not using the wrong towel easy!
Review 78:Bathroom was quite tight and maybe a little dated but not a problem
Review 79:very comfortable bed, I was upgraded from a single to a king size bed. Breakfast was fabulous.
Review 80:The Lattice was a tiny bit out of the way as far as location but this was such a small inconvenience that I will certainly stay there again on future trips.
Review 81:I really appreciated the emphasis on high quality and locally sources food. Breakfast was a welcomed change from hotel restaurants. The bed was fabulous! The owner was genuinely friendly and welcoming.
Review 82:Paying extra for breakfast...although mentioned on website not what I would expect and not immediately evident on price comparison sites. Toilet seat very wobbly which I reported after the first night but was not fixed. Also bedding very warm...requested a sheet for the second night which was supplied.
Review 83:Clean and Eco friendly.
Review 84:I needed a b & b for a family celebration. I was traveling with my mother who is 91. I requested suitable accommodation for her and we had a single room on the ground floor with a handicapped bathroom. There were doors into the garden and we were close to the dining room for an excellent breakfast. Parking was available on the property and all in all we could not have been more comfortable. There were people staying of all ages. The house has been tastefully renovated keeping the character of the house. I would highly recommend it.
Review 85:I think breakfast 7-8 is too restrictive and would prefer 7-8.30 on a working week. If I were here on a weekend I'd say breakfast at 8-9 is too early also, no prospect of a lie in.
Review 86:As usual great hospitality. Fabulous breakfast with top quality ingredients. I always choose this little gem.
Review 87:Given loads of "house rules" No visitors past 10pm! Made it sound like a knocking shop! No air con, noticed the (Band name) sauce bottles were all out of date, but all full, suspect just being filled by a big tub of the stuff.
Review 88:Welcome pack nice, good information. Very clean.
Review 89:N/A
Review 90:We liked everything.Friendly proprieter & staff.Delicious breakfasts.Relaxed atmosphere-no unnecessary rules * regulations.Not too big.N/A
Review 91:Nothing, it was great and hard to fault.
Review 92:The staff were particularly friendly and keen to help, recommending a wonderful pub for our group to have an evening meal. I would highly recommend this guest house to all types of customer.
Review 93:Sutton Hoo Lavenham Woodbridge Southwold Aldburgh Snape Orfordness Christchurch Park, Constables Gainsborough paintings Town Tour
Review 94:A little bit far from town (25 min walk : fine when it's not raining !)
Review 95:Excellent Customer service and friendly owner, very clean and comfortable, great attention to detail, good facilities, lovely house !
Review 96:Not having evening meals, although there are loads of places very nearand Martin gave full directions
Review 97:Martin the owner is a very nice chap and nothing was too muchtrouble for him.The little extras
Review 98:I've thought hard, but can come up with nothing to dislike.
Review 99:Impeccably clean, tasteful, unfussy and well run, with every consideration given to providing for the comfort of guests; we saw that business people, families, a young couple, as well as us oldies were equally happy. Close to town for shops and cultural visits, but quiet location just a short drive from the coast.
Review 100:did not supply a bath as quoted, but now has been corrected. breakfast was not a very strong point which let down all the gains. I feel for price quoted breakfast should have been included, as similar did.In the room was a basket supplied with snacks, which were supplied with a cost per item which I felt was not good form , as you offer snacks as part the welcome. Outside of these points would make a very good choice as a private guesthouse.
Review 101:the room was very clean and was supplied with tea coffee etc.Did ask if preferred std. milk which he supplied. The bed linen was first class and has been superior to 4 star rated.
Review 102:Room was lovely and clean but was spoilt by the fact that we had atriple room, towels on bed were folded really nicely but we had 2 ofone colour and then an odd coloured pile, which might sound picky butdid spoil the look of the whole thing. Also, armchair by the bed had atear in it.
Review 103:The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was very nice. Roomsmelt clean when we entered. Bed was comfortable.
Review 104:Nothing to dislike, will be staying there again
Review 105:Clean and comfortable, nicely furnished. Private parking, easy access to Ipswich centre. Great breakfast, friendly host Martin.
Review 106:Breakfast was between 7 and 8am.
Review 107:The warm welcome and excellent accomodation; it was clean with good decor in the room and everything you needed during your stay. The breakfast was excellent and good recommendation for eating out in Ipswich. lovely gardens with conservatory with a selection of books, magazines and games for the children.
Review 108:Cooked breakfasts only until 8 am great for the business person - a little rough on those who want to have a little longer in their rooms in the morning. I would have like to see fruits and seeds as a choice with yogurts and cereals.
Review 109:The rooms were spacious and eco-friendly, beds and covering luxurious, having an ipod station and access to filtered water were great too.
Review 110:I was disappointed not to have a bathroom en suite but realised that Ihad not specified this on booking the room. The kettle in the room wasvery small.
Review 111:The patron was very friendly and helpful, made sure that I had all Ineeded to have a comfortable stay. He asked whether I had anythingplanned for an evening meal, recommended a place to go and booked atable for me giving me directions. The bed was very comfortable and theroom well appointed. The WiFi worked well. The breakfast was deliciousand there was a good choice of self service cereals and fruit juices. Iwas impressed that guests were allowed to use the kitchen to make drinksor light meals if required in the evening and there was a lounge withbooks, magazines and board games - though I didn't make use of either ofthese facilities.
Review 112:Room 7 had no working bathroom lights, the handle on the toilet isloose, breakfast is an unrealistic 8-9am, the mattress is like concrete. To be honest, it was like stepping back into the 1970'S.
Review 113:It was handy for our purpose.
Review 114:I liked everything that I mentioned before .. I had a good rest Ivisited the city with my son we walk we saw the little castle . Themaritime festival was very good ...
Review 115:The 'toast' for breakfast was rock solid and a single toast. The bathroom very difficult to 'navigate'.
Review 116:Fresh milk offered for tea and filtered water.
Review 117:Car park was just barely enough for the lodge capacity
Review 118:Location was very convenient for what we were looking for and the room had space for 2 adults and the 2 young children. Breakfast was good even if limited in terms of time
