Reviews for Best Western Cross Lanes Country House Hotel
Review 1:Everything excellent except heating too high. Had to sleep with window open and remove duvet from cover. Even the wedding party left at a reasonable time and didn't make much noise (just as well, with open window!)
Review 2:Room was that bad i had to change due to the fact that the following did not work tv, trouser press, shower, clock, wifi and the in house menu was out of date the new room had a very poor shower, no trouser press and there was some documentation left over from a previous occupant and of course the clock did not work they even let me move myslef there with all my luggage
Review 3:Nothing
Review 4:The menus didn't state if they were gluten or dairy free. Breakfast had no gluten free option, and no lacto free milk available
Review 5:Staff friendly, bar and restaurant reasonably prices
Review 6:The room was very poor & dated All except one light bulb didn't work Bathroom door was stuck had to shoulder barge it open every time we used it
Review 7:Staff were nice
Review 8:The room smelled of cooking fat, seemed to be coming from the fan in the bathroom. the phone was faulty and woke me up by ringing late at night and was very disturbing. There was no quiet bar area, an unwelcome disco going on in the bar.
Review 9:Despite other reviewers saying it was difficult to find and out of the way, we found it easily and it was conveniently situated. The staff had responded to my request for gluten free food by even providing gluten free bread for the toast.
Review 10:One of the locals at the bar had to find a staff member for me so I could check in. Having got a a room with a bath, there was no hot water in the evening or morning so I had to use the (ineffective) shower anyway.
Review 11:Staff were very friendly, just inexperienced. But they had noticed and accommodated my request on the online booking form for a room with a bath rather than just a shower. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.
Review 12:Little dated and no attention to detail. Coffee and tea facilities were very basic little choice and towel to share Gardens unkept
Review 13:The room was large and the bed comfortable and clean
Review 14:Unfotunately we had a noisy neighbour in adjoining room who insisted on slamming door as he went in and out of his room most of the night. A quick telephone call to duty manager was all that was needed to solve the problem. Very efficient.
Review 15:Spacious grounds, rooms and decor in keeping with large old house. Opted for continental breakfast which was more than adequate. Every member of staff well chosen - most helpful and respectful.
Review 16:No Wi Fi in the room, there was a Wi Fi computer in the reception by the office.
Review 17:The Jacobean panelling and the Stairs in the reception area made a good setting so that you knew that it was going to be a good place to stay. The room was very clean and tidy, it was good size not large, but what you would expect in an older type property. The food was excellent and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 18:Did not have my booking from booking.com, gave me room 5 which was as hot as a glasshouse and stank of cooking. The lady on reception quickly sorted another room. Breakfast extremely expensive and ok rather than excellent. Decor a little tired could do with a splash of paint.
Review 19:Lovely grounds, fantastic lady on reception in the evening when I booked in. Staff generally very helpful.
Review 20:Surly member of staff at breakfast on day 1 carried over "quarrel" with my wife into breakfast on day 2. This spoilt the holiday for my wife.
Review 21:Quality of evening meals and well appointed bedroom
Review 22:A very minor point, but the brass light fittings looked as though they might come off the wall if you moved them and the tv was a bit skew. The hotel was not that easy to find even with the sat nav.
Review 23:The staff were just what was wanted, welcoming and friendly, attentive without being overbearing. The food was excellent, evening meal and the full Welsh breakfast.
Review 24:our room adequate and maybe ready for an uplift No complaints
Review 25:the staff obviously liked working at the hotel and we're all customer focused the bar and other public rooms nicely done garden to die for
Review 26:Greeting on arrival at reception could have been more welcoming, it was the barman Tom that found someone to book us in after we were waiting 10 minutes. We were sitting in the Breakfast area for about fifteen minutes on Valentines morning and no one was about to take our food orders. It was our wedding anniversery as well. No roses on the tables which could have been a nice valentines gesture. So i don't rate it as a romantic location.
Review 27:The Bar area had a really helpful Bar person called Tom who showed excellent hospitality skills. He made us feel very settled and recommended the Wrexham Lager which was really really nice. The cooked breakfast was nice.
Review 28:There was nothing we didn't like
Review 29:The location friendly staff and a warm and cosy room , meals were delicious would recommend the restaurant and breakfast
Review 30:It was a very cold night outside and the radiator was on full, but it was still a little too cold in the room. Evening meal was good but a little overpriced. Couldn't get any internet access either on wifi or 3G.
Review 31:Staff were very nice indeed. The place itself was comfortable and cosy. Breakfast was great!
Review 32:There was nothing I didn't like but a health/spa would be good.
Review 33:The building, the informal feel of the place, the friendly and helpful staff, and the food is very consistently good, which is a bonus.
Review 34:The over-bath shower had poor water pressure and the shower control looked very dated
Review 35:Room was comfortable and quiet and had a nice view to the rear gardens. The hotel was conveniently located for driving into Wrexham.
Review 36:Very noisy night on Sunday! The hotel was with no guests left and I believe the hotel washing machine was on the all night, simply left my mom with no sleep.
Review 37:The receptionist on the 17/11/ morning was amazing- so kind and friendly. I check out at 12 noon. Thank you again,
Review 38:the meals. we had dinner and breakfast wish we had,nt bothered. I had cod, chips and mushy peas nearly £12 my wife ordered chilli. Far too hot she sent it back. Breakfast poor and far too expensive.
Review 39:nothing
Review 40:Absolutely everything was fabulous from the location of the hotel to the staff. The room was wonderful, large comfortable and clean with everything you could possibly need. We visit this area regularly to see family and will be staying here again.
Review 41:My room was number 11. It had a smell of cooking which was quite overpowering and unpleasant. The room was otherwise fine and comfortable. Unfortunately the smell was difficult to dismiss.
Review 42:The staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 43:chemical toilet noisy, housekeeping had forgotten shower curtain reception apologised didn't realise until 7 am no time to sort it had to leave very early
Review 44:very pleasant staff lovely clean quiet room
Review 45:Wifi The TV in our room was not wall mounted. From the four poster bed, it was difficult for both of us to see the screen; but then again I don't suppose many people in the bridal suite actually watch much tv. !!
Review 46:Friendly staff who engaged us in conversation. Even the room cleaner and the young man who served our breakfast made an effort to be friendly.
Review 47:Nothing really.
Review 48:Location for the races. Accommodating in allowing us to check in early to get changed for ladies day. We'll definitely be staying there again afyer staying there ladt four years. I've got no connection with this hotel chain.
Review 49:Hotel seemed short staffed when we arrived in the evening, so bar service was a bit slow.
Review 50:Delightful rooms and grounds, gracious and relaxing. All staff very pleasant and helpful. The head chef was on the evening we stayed, and our meal had clearly been prepared by someone with a real interest and skill with food.
Review 51:Terrible wifi connection... Made worse by the fact that there was no mobile signal
Review 52:Friendly staff and promptly dealt with a problem with the shower. Very relaxing
Review 53:Excellent hotel staff was great
Review 54:The staff were all relaxed and welcoming, which made it easy to ask for a toothbrush having forgot my own! Beautiful hotel in lovely grounds.
Review 55:I had no hot water for a shower in the morning.
Review 56:room was fine, food and service very good.
Review 57:Needs upgrading.
Review 58:Staff very proffessional

Review 61:No TV or wi-fi on the first night
Review 62:the food
Review 63:Water Presure
Review 64:Warm welcome
Review 65:Location, welcome and real ale
Review 66:Bath took nearly 20 minutes to fill with a very complicated tap system - not good if you needed a bath in a hurry!
Review 67:Super spacious bedroom on the front
Review 68:country house atmosphere
Review 69:Very poor wifi in Room 6 Dated Continental breakfast was not up to scratch for £6.50

Review 71:not enough pressure on shower, Wi-Fi not good, very hit and miss to get a signal
Review 72:comfortable room, food excellent
Review 73:Everything the whole experience was a pleasure. Great staff, great food, great place.
Review 74:The atmosphere, the gardens and the staff.
Review 75:It was a bit too hot in my room during the night.
Review 76:Friendly staff
Review 77:Facilities in room
Review 78:Facilities dated, tired, damaged and not working
Review 79:Hotel grounds
Review 80:Warm welcome from the outset and wonderful service until check out.
Review 81:Siungle rooms, above dire resturant which had roof speakers blasting up through my floor. Even when no-one in the resturant!
Review 82:Lack of hot water !
Review 83:Staff cleanliness comfort food
Review 84:The staff were so polite. The hotel grounds are beatiufull and we all enjoyed our stay. Thank you best western.
Review 85:Everything
Review 86:Poor WiFi
Review 87:Location Food
Review 88:WIFI Awful EE mobile signal poor (not hotels fault)
Review 89:Quiet & Friendly
Review 90:Good food. Comfortable Friendly staff
Review 91:lovely quiet hotel.
Review 92:It was very costly for what you got out of it whereas you could get the same quality room elsewhere for half the price. I was also disappointed with the 4 posted bed as it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The staff had poor coordination as well, as I checked in that evening I was asked did I want a free newspaper of my choice in the morning but when I had the paper the day after they tried to charge me for it. I would never choose to go here again from what I experienced the first time around.
Review 93:It was spacious.
Review 94:Everyone in the Hotel was really friendly and helpful, the space was spotlessly clean and the interior really fits the countryside. We had a superb stay!
Review 95:The room was OK as somewhere to lay your head after a day's tourism, but nothing special - the bed was hard (and I usually like a firm bed) - thin mattress on a solid divan base. The bathroom was the only real downside - the shower was worse than useless: zero pressure, and one temperature (scalding). When I tried to adjust this, the knob came off in my hand. When I mentioned this on checkout, the response was 'Yes, the rooms in that part of the building have very poor water pressure' - so the management are presumably aware of the issue but aren't planning to do anything about it. Having to rely on baths for two nights was far less than ideal. But the rest of our stay was very good, I have to say.
Review 96:We were lucky with the weather which made the location even nicer - it's good to be able to sit outside with a drink on a warm evening and the grounds here are lovely. Breakfast was very good and featured local produce. Bar food in the evening was also good and featured good sized portions and excellent chips :) - I was also impressed by the real ales.
Review 97:Not that I didnt like it but maybe a pack up breakfast could be offered for workers like myself who were up at the carck of dawn to go to work.
Review 98:Nothing I didnt like
Review 99:One bed in our twin room was pretty worn and saggy and not too comfortable.
Review 100:Very attractive location in the countryside for leisure visitors, and also ideal for business in the Industrial Park, yet still within easy reach of the town. Efficient, attentive staff, adequate food menus for restaurant and bar with no problem ordering from the bar menu and being served in the restaurant. A light bulb which blew in our room was replaced quickly while we were at dinner. A good, unpretentious pleasant hotel.
Review 101:Room was divided by stub wall which was hollow allowing noise to travel easily between rooms. Bed was very soft and pushed up against radiator making it very hot to sleep in, eventually I moved bed away from radiator.
Review 102:Liked location, and frendliness of staff.
Review 103:Room decor felt very tired. Single glazing in rotting wooden window frames made for a draughty night. Wifi was almost non-existent.
Review 104:Food, bar and entrance lobby were very nice.
Review 105:Although I enjoyed my breakfast. I did have slight stomach upset afterwards and suspect that the smoked haddock was a bit 'off'.
Review 106:Efficient and welcoming reception; bar meal provided when I arrived back late after meeting; comfortable room.
Review 107:The Wi-Fi availability was almost non-existant except for the lounge area of the building. This aspect must be addressed if you are advertising the hotel as wi-fi available throughout.
Review 108:Good surrounding though the sunny weather helped. Very friendly and helpful staff, evening meal and breakfast very good.
Review 109:We booked a twin, given to someone else, offered a double with cupboarden-suite and staff room over kitchen-excessively hot-not habitableuncomfortable night, left early in morning.
Review 110:Nothing much.
Review 111:Lovely old property, with history, but needs some T.L.C. to the outside of the property. Rooms were generaly basic, but tidy and clean, but again a little sprucing up would be good.
Review 112:Ideal central location for visiting the area, including Snowdonia,Chester, North Wales coast. All the staff were friendly and helpfull.
Review 113:our reason for staying does not really fit into the above catergory's, our 32 year old son had died in the nightingale hospice, we were staying with you for his funeral in marchwiel.
Review 114:The rooms were a little noisy from other guests
Review 115:Nice friendly country style hotel with nice traditional and comfortablerooms. The resurant served good food at a reasonable price and a goddselection of beers
Review 116:The hotel was ideally situated for my requirements and the staff werecourteous and efficient. Whilst breakfast was an additional £10 it wasworth the extra as it came up piping hot and was very tasty. A verycomfortable stay.
Review 117:The bed mattress was rock hard and uncomfortable.
Review 118:Clean hotel with character. Staff helpful, polite and friendly. Bedrooms a good size but in the winter colder than would like but not freezing.
Review 119:Bathroom very congested
Review 120:Location and
Review 121:bit tired on decor
Review 122:staff great throughout, bar good, good bar snack, great breakfast no problems
Review 123:staff excellent, nothing any trouble food excellent
