Reviews for Manoir Plessis Bellevue

Review 1:I like everything about this hotel. Warm greetings, comfortable rooms, breathtaking view, great breakfast, impressive history... I would stay here any time.

Review 2:Impeccable attention to detail throughout, beautiful setting and a warm reception from Alain and Veronique, the owners. Would recommend whole heartedly for its amazing location and view. Breakfast in the dining room is also excellent. We would definately visit again.

Review 3:Newly renovated, this property is stunning and immaculate. It has a long history, once host to Victor Hugo, and the owners are descendants of the original Marquis. The views across the Loire are incredible. Possibly too nice for a family with young children!!

Review 4:Nothing. Just suggestion: put the box for not needed cheese packs on the table. It is not so useful and good ecstatic to put them on the table.

Review 5:Almoust all

Review 6:our accommodation was a suite which meant the bedroom was rather small and the bathroom was not big enough to swing a cat in! No separate shower only a hand-held attachment over the bath which was very narrow meaning the floor got flooded. Also the bathroom light was automatically operated when the door was shut- but the door had no catah and so wouldn't shut meaning the light remained on all night. When we mentioned it the next morning the owners said they were aware of the problem but had not thought to tell us beforehand!

Review 7:Fabulous location overlooking Saumur and the Loire valley. Beautiful well renovated manoir.

Review 8:Nothing

Review 9:Everything: the place is like a dream, very quiet but also close to the center of Saumur. The view of the Loire is amazing, the place is super clean and the hosts are very informed on the history of the house and welcoming. Breakfast was also excellent!

Review 10:The narrow road leading to the property and the tight access through the entry gate.

Review 11:Staying in the beautifully restored manor house with superb views of Saumur and Loire River. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious. The owner was very friendly and went of her way to provide every assistance to ensure that our stay was enjoyable.

Review 12:We had a lovely warm welcome when we arrived, the owners very friendly and helpful- filling us in on the history of the house and directing us to a restaurant overlooking the chateau. The rooms were spotless and our lively 9 and 11 year olds happily welcomed. The pool was great, there's also table tennis, lots of tasty treats for breakfast and beautiful surroundings. I thoroughly recommend it!

Review 13:Excellent location - 25 minutes walk from the centre of Saumur. Very friendly owners, we had the the room with a terrace with an amazing view of the Loire and Saumur.

Review 14:Wonderful. Great location, as cyclists being able to ride into the town for a meal at night was lovely past the Chateau, Welcome and accommodation are superb. Lovey pool, games room and views. Attention to detail throughout.

Review 15:Beautiful location, friendly welcome, excellent room, facilities and breakfast... Everything we hoped for and more. If heading back this way, we will definitely be staying again!!

Review 16:We had a wonderful time - warm hospitality and the host and hostess Alain and Veronique were so helpful - even driving us to the bike hire shop ! We highly recommend - fantastic for families or couples. The view from the swimming pool is breathtaking !

Review 17:there is everything to like here, Veronique & Alain are very attentive hosts.

Review 18:Very warm welcome, fabulous historic accommodation, outstanding location, delicious breakfast.

Review 19:The manor had fantastic host who was very friendly and helpful, the views over saumur were amazing. Rooms were beautifully furnished, had water and tea/coffee facilities

Review 20:The weather was exceptionally hot during our stay and asI had booked the attic room (with the wonderful terrace) the temperature in the room was almost unbearable. We had to request a fan . Perhaps leaving one in the room during the summer months would be a good idea. The property is also next to a railway track but it seems be a goods line which is little used so this was not a problem.

Review 21:A beautiful ,elegant house in an amazing location with wonderful hosts. The Nantaise room with the terrace is fantastic ( as long as the weather isn't too hot ! ) The swimming pool was much larger than the photos suggested and very well maintained.

Review 22:Beautiful renovated house, set high above Saumur with wonderful views over the Loire. Our room had a large private terrace with sunbeds where we could relax and enjoy the view. The owners were lovely and made you feel very much at home. We only stayed for 2 nights but would have liked to have stayed longer.

Review 23:Exceptionally good BnB with stunning views overlooking the Loire and Saumur. The house is huge and has been beautifully renovated by the current owner. Room was huge with our own terrace area with amazing views. Breakfast was very generous and extremely tasty! We would return and can thoroughly recommend to others.

Review 24:Nicolas and Veronique are the most gracious hosts! We arrived late after a long day of travel from the US and to our surprise we were upgraded to a nicer room. The Manor is situated on the hillside overlooking the Loire River and is absolutely gorgeous. We were also treated to a lovely champagne toast and enjoyed the sunset. The room was clean & modern, yet it retained it's historical heritage and was very comfortable. Breakfast is served in the main dining area and was delicious.

Review 25:There was nothing to dislike. Every effort was made to make our stay great.

Review 26:We loved the view, the atmosphere and the host warm welcome. We felt the owners deserve the success that they are already enjoying. We will return next time we visit France.

Review 27:Nothing.

Review 28:Very friendly welcome. Peaceful, superb room. Brilliant breakfast. Nothing seemed too much trouble. gave good advice on what to see and where to eat.

Review 29:Suite Marquise bathroom was a little awkward. Don't let that put you off for a moment though. Long walk to town - didn't bother us but might bother some. Taxi back more expensive than a London cab!

Review 30:Hospitality - we felt more like house guests than customers. When we couldn't get a taxi, Nicolas drove us into town. Welcome drink of sparkling wine was very welcome but even more that Veronique sat and chatted to us while we had it. Beautiful building inside and out. Stunning views from lovely garden. Suite Marquise is huge with great terrace.

Review 31:Stunning house and location overlooking Saumur and the Loire river. The owners have done a wonderful job of restoring the old manor house which was once owned by Victor Hugo's doctor. Hugo visited on a number of occasions since they became great friends. Nicolas and Veronique were great hosts...and we had champagne by the pool as the sun went down...and a great breakfast in the wonderful dining room in the morning. Wanted to stay longer. Will definitely return!

Review 32:Isn't this what we all dream about? Find an interesting house and see the potential? Well, we can only say "spot-on". But you'll have to go there yourelves to see what we mean. Fantastic!

Review 33:Nothing, it was a great stay.

Review 34:Alain was a fantastic host, we thoroughly enjoyed sipping a glass or two of complimentary Saumur champagne with him whilst he explained the history of the house. Our room was superb with every comfort and it had a terrace with fantastic views towards Saumur and of the Loire. Great breakfast in a beautiful dining room. What a find! We wish we had stayed longer and will certainly return.

Review 35:The setting and property were great. Everything superbly taken care of advice for the short stay, quality of food and flexibility all greatly appreciated.

Review 36:Our GPS system did not recognize B&B address. Be sure to enter alternative address noted in reservation - Rue du petit Puy

Review 37:Beautiful setting with view of Loire River and working farm. Extremely comfortable and clean room. Delicious breakfast. Hosts are extremely accommodating. This was a memorable stay - wish we had more time there.

Review 38:Although not a problem for us, the house was a fair walk to the centre of Saumur, including a steep hill on the return journey. A minor fault was that there was only a bottle of bath and shower cream for use in the bathroom, and no individual shampoo

Review 39:The house was beautiful, with a lovely aspect at the top of the hill. The Victor Hugo room was a great way of relaxing at the end of the evening without disturbing other guests. As we were only there one evening we didn't get a chance to use all of the facilities, but they appeared to be very good.

Review 40:Stylish and comfortable room with an exceptional view. Together with the warm welcome and attentiveness throughout from Veronique this was a memorable stay.

Review 41:The beds were a bit hard, and we like firm mattresses. This is a minor thing to note. We still slept wonderfully.

Review 42:Alain and his sister Veronique are the perfect hosts. When we arrived, Alain shared a bottle of sparkling rose and some fascinating history of the area with us - a great introduction for our 3 night stay. The location is stunning, with expansive views down the Loire and of Saumur. If you think the pictures here look amazing, it's even better in person.

Review 43:The manoir was in a very quiet and pretty location with lovely views. The decor was superb with attractive antique furniture and special new brocade curtains. Everything was spacious and tasteful. The welcome was very special and we made contact every day with the hostess.

Review 44:The ambiance it feels like you are are a guest at a great Country House. The Owners could do no more to make you happy. The Location is superb with great views and facilities. The rooms are great and the breakfast could not be better.

Review 45:We had a top floor room with an amazing terrace, but the roof beams gotin the way and there was no door to the bathroom. Although beautifullydecorated, it seemed slightly unfinished with no hooks and a missingcupboard door handle. Strictly bed & breakfast with no restaurant.

Review 46:Amazing location overlooking the Loire river, just a short distanceoutside of Saumur. Very friendly owner and his sister. Newly renovatedand thus very clean. Excellent breakfast. Good parking. Wish we'dstayed more than one night!

Review 47:All was absolutely perfect

Review 48:We had the most amazing stay at Manoir Plessis Bellevue. The house and grounds are absolutely stunning. The views over the Loire river and village are spectacular. However, above all what made the stay so fantastic is the great hospitality displayed by the owners Alain Nicolas and Véronique Coquema. Hosting a family of seven can be a daunting task for most people but the owners went far beyond the norm to make our stay a fantastic experience. If you are thinking staying in Saumur, you can’t beat Manoir Plessis Bellevue!

Review 49:impeccable decor and hospitality, and great kindness on the part of the host, who put our two bikes in the back of his car and drove us to the train station in a sudden early-morning downpour -- while telling us his version of the histories of Louis XIII and XIV.

Review 50:Nothing. The cycle up to the property was tough but great way to work up a hunger

Review 51:Fantastic way to end our stay in the Loire Valley. Great property with awesome views. Owner is there to look after your every need.

Review 52:Can't fault this place!

Review 53:Charming, helpful and welcoming owner. Beautifully furnished and decorated accommodation and wonderful attention to detail. Unbelievable views over the river Loire....certainly lives up to it's name, 'Bellevue'! Excellent breakfast. Will certainly be recommending this place to our gîte guests at Le Clos des Jardins as a stop off point from/to the channel ports.

Review 54:Quite a walk into town but the restaurants were plentiful.

Review 55:Allain, the owner was so hospitable and eager to ensure we had a good stay. I would recommend this to anyone.

Review 56:The only thing we didn't like was leaving!!

Review 57:I don't often write reviews but I have to about this wonderful place. Only opened in April 2014 the owners have created something very special indeed. I would recommend this Manoir to anyone who is looking for a fabulous location (but outside of the town - 5 minute easy drive) / charming attention to detail / a breakfast room like something from Downton Abbey / very welcoming and friendly, especially to my 8 year old son / incredible, beautiful, large rooms. Fantastic..Don't think about it just book it. By the way hey do take credit cards ( contrary to what Booking.com said when I booked). Paul Place - England

Review 58:This house is absolutely beautiful. It is decorated to look like 19th century times but the amenities are all very modern. The owner Alain is very friendly and accommodating. The view of Saumur is beautiful.

Review 59:Absolutely nothing at all

Review 60:A very friendly welcome by hospitable owners. The beautiful house has been sympathetically restored with the greatest of care. Lovely rooms seamlessly combine original features and stylish modern facilities. Peaceful setting with stunning views over the Loire and towards Saumur town. What's not to like?!!

Review 61:We had a nice room arrangement, but the squeaking of the wooden floors can be disturbing for other guests sharing the room

Review 62:Superb location Very welcoming & warm hosts Quite charming Nice breakfast

Review 63:The Manir Plessis Bellevue met all our expectations as an excellent place to end our holiday in France. Although this is a bed and breakfast accommodation, the first class service was super and the owners could not have done any more to make us feel welcome. Thankyou for their hospitality.

Review 64:A little bit difficult to get there but there is an excellent restaurant near by about 10 minutes walk downhill.

Review 65:The host and hostess are very friendly and helpful.

Review 66:A wall mounted shower would have been preferable, but this is a tiny quibble!

Review 67:This was a fabulous piece of tranquility in among the bustle of the Loire and Saumur. The hosts were fantastic and the whole experience was different to any other 4* experienced. The views were wonderful, and the breakfast plentiful.

Review 68:we drove in the wrong way not good but our fault for not reading e mails follow directions

Review 69:excellent suite, beautiful views.Host good company and very informative over a bottle of wine in the lovely gardens.

Review 70:Room cleaning. No air-condition in room.

Review 71:Beautiful place and lovely host. Very good breakfast but not varied. View from upper floor terrace is wonderful. Big room and nice.

Review 72:Nothing!

Review 73:From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome by the lady host. The whole property was absolutely perfect.

Review 74:difficult stairs for old folk to the secret bedroom, but that was all

Review 75:the welcome, location, the place and breakfast was excellent

Review 76:Great breakfast although boiled or scrambled eggs as a option would just top it all off perfectly.
