Reviews for Bentley Tower Hotel
Review 1:Only downside was the shower control was broken but still usable. Needed a little maintainance on that. Everything else was superb.
Review 2:The room was very comfortable, full of character throughout the hotel! The bed was very soft and the room was nice and hot! The £7.50 breakfast was very good quality and enough to fill anyone's boots! Perfect!! I would definitely stay again!
Review 3:Lovely hotel in a good location for Ipswich. On a busy road, but we didn't hear the traffic. My room was lovely, in the tower, down some steps. Very nicely decorated and great bed. Nice breakfast. Beautiful garden.
Review 4:Fixtures and fittings a bit tired, I do appreciate it is a small hotel, so not so easy or economical to maintain/ update .
Review 5:Very helpful staff( owner ?) Quiet room ( even though hotel is close to road). Spacious, clean bathroom Nice biscuits , chocolates with tea/ coffee in room. Generous breakfast portions !
Review 6:Genuinely welcoming staff, very helpful and friendly, even when I arrived late at night. Very um, 'individualised' decor (basically old movie posters and big patterned wallpaper), but it felt quirky and charming.
Review 7:What is a hotel? Surely with no dinner, breakfast extra and simple facilities this is a bed and breakfast? The cupboard shower was remarkable; the door was too big for the space allocated so didn't shut and stuck into the cubicle. Slightly tired probably sums things up best.
Review 8:The hotel was in the right place for working purposes and offered the necessary minimum. The staff were friendly and everything about ok.
Review 9:I did get bit by something while there and can only put it down to some of the old antique furnishings. Could do with a bit more of a clean, i.e bugs/flies/wasps on the floor were still there the next day, cobwebs and a shower head without the limescale would have been nice. The blind did fall down and the kettle leaked but they are things that are easily fixed. Also no one likes a rusty plug hole!
Review 10:Staff welcoming and helpful. Suggested places to go etc. It was close to the town center and the places we wanted to go were only a few minutes drive away. The bed was VERY comfy and I could have taken it home with me! Lovely little garden you can sit in with a pond and a friendly little cat who comes up and says hello. My boyfriend loved all the posters around the hotel. I would defiantly stay again.
Review 11:We stayed here when we attended a family funeral. We were looking for somewhere comfortable and uncomplicated. This ticked all the boxes, easy to find, room to park the car, a few restaurants close by, the room was big enough, with a TV and tea/coffee making facilities and a bathroom. There was a main road outside, but we didn't hear much traffic noise.
Review 12:You have to pay extra for breakfast. The cold water in my room was warm at best. Probably could do with better lighting in the bathroom. Minor niggles really.
Review 13:Friendly staff. Nice comfortable bed, free wi-fi. Fairly quiet room. (have been in noisier hotels)
Review 14:Felt it was lacking customer service and in need of modernising rooms very basic. On check in was advised to settle bill on leaving no further advice given, we wasn't even asked about breakfast or had anything explained to us so we felt a bit of a burden staying there
Review 15:Lovely premises easily located fair distance to town
Review 16:I found the Hollywood Noir decor a little unnerving. It wasn't to my taste, but might appeal to others. The local Record Office had few resources, though the staff was helpful. I was unable to locate any of the documents that I was interested in.
Review 17:It was close to the Record office where I went to do some family history research. It also has a very nice garden out in back with a koi pond. I liked the in-house bar for a glass of wine in the evening.
Review 18:The staff were friendly and helpful regarding places to visit and things to do. We were visiting relations so chose the location of the hotel to be fairly near to them. It was the first time we had been to Ipswich and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
Review 19:nothing
Review 20:For us the location was excellent. The welcome was extremely warm and friendly. Bed very comfortable, room a little on the small side ( we only stayed a couple of nights so this was not a problem) but everything was very clean. Good breakfast
Review 21:I thought the milk cartons, tea bags, toiletries were somewhat on the mean side! Also there was no real welcome as such - I was just handed the key. As a solo traveller a few friendly words wouldn't have gone amiss!
Review 22:Big sash windows - ideal to open on a hot night. I was upgraded to a double which was really nice.
Review 23:There was nothing I disliked about this hotel.
Review 24:The staff were incredible - they went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and could not do enough for us - they really put themselves out for us. The room was quirky, warm and incredibly comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Review 25:All ok, no negatives.
Review 26:Really nice and friendly lady and gentlemen team.Only too happy to provide plates etc to have a takeaway in the lovely courtyard.
Review 27:If I was to be overly picky...perhaps if you look closely some of the fixtures and fittings are a little bit "tired"? A few cobwebs here and there... Honestly...it was a great place and I would go back.
Review 28:Lovely garden and sitting area by a pond with fish. In the sunshine you could almost be abroad. The bygone Movie theme is excellent. The bar is cute. The room was excellent.
Review 29:Not a thing
Review 30:The staff were so friendly and helpful, everywhere in the hotel was so clean and loved all the pictures they had up, it was so relaxing and will definitely be back
Review 31:Everything! It was a pleasant surprise to see that it matches the reviews. Staff were absolutely great and extremely helpful and accommodating to all enquiries and helped with a later check out for example. It's a 10 minute walk to the High St. which was very easy to get to once directions were given. The unique decor of classic and iconic film posters is very interesting and eclectic and is a talking point for guests. There is a peaceful and tranquil garden with a fountain; it was really relaxing to sit or walk there. I would definitely stay there again when in Ipswich!
Review 32:Pity about being on a busy road even though room was on the side if the house. It was too hot an evening so needed the windows open but I'm sure in colder weather with windows and secondary glazing that is there, the traffic noise would be greatly reduced. Maybe a fan in the room may eliminate this problem?
Review 33:Love the place, the room has everything it needs, ironing board could do with changing but that's a very minor thing. Pretty hotel, good location.
Review 34:Confusion over breakfast being included, which it wasn't. My room was cleaned and replenished mid stay, which was fab, but they missed replacing a few items. On the second night I realised the walls were a bit thin!
Review 35:Quirky, clean and welcoming. Parking and a walk into town. I'd stay again.
Review 36:What a superb find.. loved everything about the hotel, a home from home. The breakfast was fabulous, I can't wait to find an excuse to go back and stay again.
Review 37:Title refers to the decor which is principally 40s and 50s movie posters. Rest of decor is in keeping with this. Dining room is fantastic. And single fresh rise on each table.
Review 38:Could do with a little modernisation but if that's the worst I can say then really I have nothing to complain about!
Review 39:Loved it, I had an adorable single room, this place is just a little different from others I have stayed at, staff were great and very accommodating, couldn't have asked for more :)
Review 40:Relaxing in the courtyard garden with glass of wine. After attending a funeral. Just what i needed...tranquility..water feature gurgling..and some much needed reflection. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definately go again
Review 41:Bentley Towers has all the facilities you need, plus a good location and interesting décor. I really loved the film posters - I hadn't expected to see Janet Leigh's frilly knickers on the stairs, nor Edmond O'Brien';s unfeasibly large trousers. Fantastic.
Review 42:I had a problem with the water flowing down stairs during a shower, this happened on my first visit few months ago,I was disappointed when a member of staff knocked on the door while I was having a shower on my 3rd visit to tell me the same problem of water flowing, and had to stop my shower.one would think the problem should have been solved by now.
Review 43:I have been in the same room for the 3 stays, the bed is comfortable and breakfast is lovely.
Review 44:Shower could do with a upgrade but it was fresh and clean
Review 45:Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel was clean, loved the theme of the place. Bed was very comfy, had everything you needed.
Review 46:bed was a little saggy, and hard for an old an's back, but the rest of the fiurnishing was fine. The lounge was esp[ecially ell appointed, and a fgood place to catch up with computer work.
Review 47:Friendly, clean, well-run, and accommodataing in all sorts of ways.
Review 48:The Bentley Tower Hotel is a family run hotel (rare in itself these days) with an array of truly fantastic framed film posters adorning the walls everywhere you look, giving it a quirky, welcoming and individual charm. Although the decor (film noir theme) may not be up to all tastes, I felt that it gives the Bentley Tower Hotel a uniqueness that is absent in the ubiquitous corporate box! As a cineast I felt immediately "at home" in this charming place! My room had a decent size and the bed was truly perfect (not too hard or too soft) with good quality bedding and plenty of good quality pillows! My room was facing the busy main road which didn't bother me at all as the windows are double glazed but I could imagine some might prefer a rear room. The full English breakfast is very good indeed and very large! The family who runs this hotel are very helpful and friendly without being in your face, which is commendable. There is also a lovely garden to sit in and a cosy bar. The hotel is very handily situated, set back off the Norwich Road and the A14 is a five minute drive away. It's only a fifteen minute walk into the town centre, bus stop right upfront on Norwich Road, so pretty much hassle free regarding getting in and out of Ipswich on foot or by public transport. The hotel car park is free and big enough to park around ten vehicles at a time, I would guess. I highly recommend this hotel and if I ever come back to Ipswich again, I will definitely stay at this awesome little gem!
Review 49:Being an oldish building, floorboards slightly creaky as other guest left early
Review 50:this was a little gem and very comfortable. Rooms are traditionally decorated and all facilities were of a good standard. Staff were very friendly and felt very welcome
Review 51:Roadwork noise and disruption directly outside causing lack of sleep. No warning given. Breakfast charge went up from pre booked price.
Review 52:Clean and friendly
Review 53:If you want free parking, free wifi, a central location and a clean quiet hotel this place is great, and amazingly quite cheap. The hotel and rooms are very stylishly decorated, making it a very warm atmosphere to stay in.
Review 54:Exactly as it seemed from the website: cozy, comfy, clean, rooms with a character; breakfast prepared on the minute by hotel owner, coffee always fresh. Definitely value for money; Perfect for those who deslike the "plastic" Premier Inn-like accomodation and look for a different experience!
Review 55:I liked everything about this hotel my only criticisms would be i could hear everything going on in the room next to me and the plug in the bathroom sink was jammed. Other than that it was great. I didn't get a great welcome but they were friendly enough after that. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. It's not far from the town centre so location is good.
Review 56:Noisy Road, but only a problem if you have one of the rooms on the front
Review 57:Bed really comfortable Good selection of beverages in the room Beautiful courtyard garden & bar facilities Well cooked breakfast
Review 58:Room was as expected, only real downside was the bed being rather short. I'm not the tallest person in the world, but had to curl up to stop my feet dangling out of the end..
Review 59:Staff were warm and welcoming. Didn't spend much time there but pretty much everything was fine.
Review 60:sadness in hotel, very serious staff, so depressed place, (bar, garden...). I think i will never come back!
Review 61:good decoration, movies pictures everywhere!
Review 62:Nothing.
Review 63:Everything! Lovely helpful staff, really reasonably priced breakfast, beautiful garden, amount of drinks and biscuits in room. Excellent service.
