Reviews for Premier Inn St. Albans/Bricket Wood

Review 1:brilliant service - food lovely, and a full english brekkie set us up for a fun filled day at harry potter studios, brilliant location will definitely stay again for our next visit

Review 2:Other guests smoking in hallway. Property is clean but - would say outdated 2-3 star accommodation, therefore too pricey -

Review 3:Comfortable double bed. Very helpful staff.

Review 4:The service at breakfast was terrible. One man gave up waiting. When we were seated the food was not of a good standard

Review 5:Room was comfortable and it was a quiet location

Review 6:that we didn't have a meal plan. That our message in the notes when booking about needing a travel cot was not passed on to the hotel

Review 7:it was a really lovely location and only being a 20 minute drive from the Harry Potter studio was nice. Would stop here again

Review 8:Bar and Restaurant under staffed wasn't able to eat on my first night stay. Waiting time of 1 and half hours Bar food the same situation Had to go into St Albans to find restaurant.

Review 9:Always good

Review 10:The only thing that we had a problem was that there was a lot of noise above us late at night and first thing in the morning, sound like we had a family above us.

Review 11:Was very handy being near the venue of a wedding we were attending. The room was comfortable and food was good. Like the new breakfast menu.

Review 12:The room was too hot and could not cool it even with window open which gave a lot of traffic noise. Bathroom very dark and light above sink was not working.

Review 13:There is quite a large space under the door, as the corridor lights are left on, not motion sensor, the light beams in while you are trying to sleep. Only 1 set of towels for two people. Shower very weak. Breakfast undercooked,

Review 14:Friendly staff. Clean. Nice convenient location. Reasonable price.

Review 15:Please read above

Review 16:We stayed for 2-nights and told the staff after the first night that wewere very unhappy. The bed was soft and very small. The room #4 was fora disable person bathe sink an bed were very low. Had to kneel to usewashbasin. Staff told us they were full and couldn't move us. Didnot offer to refund any money as advertised. Very disappointed. Our stayin Cambridge North was far better.

Review 17:I always book accommodation with breakfast included and was sure I had on this occasion. The booking was through Booking.com and not direct with Premier. They stay was originally for two nights and included breakfast. I had to change the booking to one night and double checked that breakfast was included still during the call. However, upon arrival breakfast was not included. We were more than willing to pay but despite lots of empty tables in the restaurant were told we would have to wait at least 15-20 minutes. This we could not do as we had booked into Harry Potter on a tour. I explained this but still we were told no, we would have to wait. At this point we left, collected our bags, and drove to McDonalds. We have used Premier Inns on a regular basis and have always found them to be excellent value and the staff more than helpful, I cannot blame the hotel staff but was very disappointed with the lack of help in the restaurant and the attitude. Will definitely think twice before either using Booking.com or Premier deals again!

Review 18:Loved the setting of the Premier Inn

Review 19:First room had a bathroom that stank of urine but we got moved quickly as soon as I raised it with staff. The cleaning detergent used in the breakfast area is very strong and off putting.

Review 20:Staff were helpful and the room was good value for money

Review 21:The heater would not heat room sufficiently. Towel heater was non-functional and a small television without a channel guide.

Review 22:Location was the key item for me, close to the village of Bricket Wood. This is a basic accommodation with a secluded location, helpful staff and clean.

Review 23:The location was perfect, beautiful place and only a short drive to the local train station which had good value parking for the day so that we could travel into London. The room was clean, tidy and overall just great! And the bed was very comfortable. We will likely come here again!

Review 24:can be expensive to stay in and the local restaurant can have limited food options when your eating their a few times within a week.

Review 25:the beds were extremely comfortable and the cleanliness was exceptional

Review 26:Was overcharged as I'd booked an extra night so arrived a day early - as I then failed to check in the following day fispite advising staff a payment in excess of 50% of my fee was taken directly from my account ... I then paid a 3rd time all in excess of what I was quoted - confusion re breakfast and the necessity to pre book - hotel staff helpful but beefeater didn't seem to want our business (4 x adults and 3 x children )

Review 27:Nothing.

Review 28:The staff were very polite & professional, couldn't do enough & Catherine who checked us in, arranged for a local Taxi for us. The room was spacious, clean with a comfortable bed. The adjoining Pub/restaurant was equally as lovely, with stunning original features of an old Mill. There are fish & ducks in the lake & a vast seating / outside area. Nice location, tranquil & picturesque. Breakfast was very nice, with good customer service. Will definitely return.

Review 29:The ceilings seemed very thin, we could hear every foot step quiet loud in our room and unfortunately the people above us needed the toilet quiet a lot during the night.

Review 30:I have an 1 month only baby, I asked the staff if I could use the microwave and they let me use it every time they said anything they could help with was no problem. Staff were amazing!

Review 31:no diss likes at accomodation, Beef Eater where breakfast was staff seamed stressed and food slow how ever in morning breckfast good and staff seamed much happier,

Review 32:kind friendly staff hassel free

Review 33:The room was very warm even with the window open and a fan going !

Review 34:The staff were very friendly and helpful the surroundings were beautiful and the food was great

Review 35:Some of the staff were a bit rude. No air con in room and we stayed on 2 very hot nights very uncomfortable. Black hairs on towels and in the bed.

Review 36:One member of staff, Catherine, was absolutely lovely and helpful. The food in the beefeater was beautiful. Lovely play area for the kids.

Review 37:Only issue was the windows not opening wide enough for fresh air when the weather was very hot, bit at the same time his is a rareity in this country, so its catered for the percentage of the time. Bt overall, cannot really fault it.

Review 38:It was quite, clean, and staff were extremely helpful. The little location was lovely with a near by stream and working mill, and lovely playpark just across the way ideal for small children, cannot fault the plaxe.

Review 39:Service at the bar was slow. We didn't book a table for dinner, the restaurant was not busy but we were 'allowed' to eat there without as booking by the Manager.

Review 40:Terrific location, 5 minutes from both J21A M25 and J22 Nice surrounding. There's a pond and kid's play area which are ideal Bed were comfy. Staff pleasant. Rooms well noise insulated. Good value and my son ate for free in the morning.

Review 41:thin walls, could here television going all night, need a car to stay here, no shops or anything nearby. Service in bar was slow, 1 hour to get dinner, tables were not cleared away within an hour (bar staff just ignored them)

Review 42:Old Mill

Review 43:Our first night was terrible. Could hear every movement from the room above us. It sounded as if Michael Flatley was practicing his moves until 3am! No sleep what so ever. Also, our room was directly beside the staircase which wasn't great at 7am!

Review 44:Staff were lovely and always happy to help. Huge room and great location. Perfect for our trip to Wembley and only a short drive into St Albans.

Review 45:No fridge even for own drinks and other items. No interconnecting rooms for families of more than 4 - we are 5 and had two rooms (fortunately they were next to each other).

Review 46:Breakfast is great when you have kids and they eat free. Whole family appreciates the free wifi. Kids enjoyed the play equipment.

Review 47:The bed was too high and as I cannot use a duvet, there were no blankets. The top fell off the tap and as you don't have twin bedded rooms I felt £102.75 very expensive for a tired room

Review 48:The breakfast

Review 49:Not a bad experience but be aware that the restaurant is very popular locally and was busy every night. Book a table!

Review 50:Friendly helpful staff. Pretty spot. Great food in restaurant next door.

Review 51:The breakfast was of good quality but the coffee was luke warm as is normal for Premier Inns Don't know was this is.

Review 52:Location was excellent and the surrounding area was very relaxing.

Review 53:Bit of damp and mould on bathroom ceiling, curtain hanging off the rail on one side, nothing major just small attentions to detail.

Review 54:Hotel in a nice setting, 2 minutes from the motorway, not that you could tell, hardly any noise. The setting with the ducks, stream and park are ideal for families. The hotel staff were polite and helful, as were the restaurant staff next door. The bed was comfy, plenty of spare pillows, hairdryer and soap/shower gel provided. Tea and coffee filled up daily, vending machines in hotel foyer with drinks and snacks. Less than 10 mins away from warner studios, so ideally located for the Harry Potter tour.

Review 55:Outside area very pleasant, could have sat there allday (had the sun deemed to shine!) The room was comfortable and quiet, bathroom small and compact & the bed was luxurious, superbly comfortable.

Review 56:No bad experiences at all.

Review 57:My family had a great stay at this premier inn. My son loved this hotel, with the gardens, pond and ducks. It's perfect for a visit to Harry Potter or even London. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 58:wifi kept going on and off. With 2 children with tablets they were not amused.

Review 59:We were going to Harry Potter world. This was ideal, 15 minutes from location.

Review 60:Great place to stay with young children. Play park , ducks and child friendly beefeater :) our little described it as beautiful and peaceful .loved the historic working water mill in the pub

Review 61:The Beefeater next door is not just solely for the use of the hotel, it is open to the public and therefore gets very busy. We didn't think to book a table, as we usually stay in hotels that have their own dining room, and ended up eating in the noisy bar. They were very understaffed and service was slow. Food was ok though.

Review 62:Next door to a lovely converted watermill currently used as the Beefeater. River full of trout, ducks and geese. Meadow with playground for the kids. Beautiful setting.

Review 63:smacked my head on hanging basket outside of main entrance cutting my head.

Review 64:Meals were great, good pint in great surroundings with easy access to motorway and about area.

Review 65:The first stay, problem with the air conditioning so disturbed night but this was resolved by staff the following morning. Only other issue re parking, but if you are town centre suppose you expect issues.

Review 66:The helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff

Review 67:Everything was brilliant would definitely recommend.

Review 68:From the minute we got there to when we wear leaving every member of staff had a smile on there face an could not do more to help if we asked any questions.

Review 69:room a bit cold, otherwise fine.

Review 70:Beefeater in beautiful old mill house serving yummy breakfast and dinner - meal deal if staing at the premier inn excellent value

Review 71:We were in the annex which is supposed to be a quiet zone however there were two couples who thought it ok to go into the bar and leave their three kids to run riot and shout and scream I went out of our room just as the adults arrived back, in retrospect I should have rung reception for them to sort out. The lady on the desk next morning offered a refund for the night but as it stopped by 11:30 we said we were ok, luckily they went home so we had four nights which were better.

Review 72:The location is excellent, there are trains locally into St. Pancras. If the weather permits it is a good place to have a walk after dinner.

Review 73:Pond area could do with a bit of a tidy up but that's being picky. Ideal for what we wanted.

Review 74:Close to the Motorway but also a countryside feel. Kids loved feeding the ducks in the morning. 10 minute drive to Harry Potter (and that was in rush hour!)

Review 75:The premier inn itself looks tired and do could with a refit not as comfortable as others i have stayed in

Review 76:Location was excellent beefeater pub next door was good value location was close to the Harry Potter studio tours that we were visiting

Review 77:Beefeater staff on the bar not so friendly but we had a meal on first night and laura was very helpful. The breakfast staff also friendly and polite but I felt they had a lot on and stressed felt for them as they where doing the best they could.

Review 78:The location lovely the rooms clean and staff very helpful from checking in at reception to the lady who cleaned our room.

Review 79:Evening meal service very slow and un helpful staff. Took ages to be served drinks and food and when it came it was plonked on table and not served to the individuals

Review 80:Good location not too far from Harry Potter studio. Good for kids as park, playground and ducks on site. Food was of good standard and staff at check in were polite.

Review 81:When we arrived the Receptionist welcomed us and booked a table for us for dinner. At the restaurant we had a highchair waiting at table and the childrens meals came out first. The room was lovely and clean with travel cot waiting for us. We had a great nights sleep too and the morning waitress made sure we had everything we wanted for breakfast. Great Service:-)

Review 82:Sat Nav not detailed enough, so it took us a while to find the Inn. A disappointing breakfast, not up to the usual standard, eg: rubbery scrambled eggs, tasteless coffee, cold croissants !

Review 83:Very helpful receptionist, and very quiet and attractive location.

Review 84:1st night poor food in Restu. Cold raw veg cold sweet with boiling custard on it . This meant we did not use the resturant again in the evening Why must we request a second hand towel every night? Brick paths need cleaning, slippy with green

Review 85:Excellent staff response in all areas

Review 86:Lovely, friendly staff, beautiful location, ideal for visiting Harry Potter!! Advise - little tricky to find, you will need to use the co-ordinates on your sat nav, once you reach the village.

Review 87:Out of the way location, the beefeater pub was freezing!! Coffee was cold in the morning.

Review 88:The beds are the best! Breakfast was great but for the coffee. Staff at breakfast were lovely.

Review 89:The hotel is well complimented by the Beefeater pub/restaurant and the location is enhanced by the stream and mill pond with lots of feathered wildlife to entertain guests.

Review 90:Not the premier inn, however the attached Beefeater - bar is too small. Food expensive. Great staff though.

Review 91:Great staff, very polite and helpful. Stayed there for a Harry potter visit. No down sides. Suits family that are driving though, as in its a bit remote.

Review 92:Awkward to find but satellite navigation brings you straight to it.

Review 93:Excellent staff. Nice rural setting with excellent catering close by. Children well entertained by the antics of the ducks!

Review 94:The mattress on one of the extra child beds was not very good.

Review 95:The location was ideal for our visit to Warner Brothers Studio Tour (Harry Potter). The restaurant was good and the boys enjoyed feeding the ducks.

Review 96:Damp room, poor staff on arrival (though perfect on departure). Queued for a long time on arrival with 9 other guests. the poor guy tried but seemed totally undertrained/inexperienced.

Review 97:Restaurant, wine selection though not sure my steak was actually a fillet cut. You should check this, a more fussy customer might cause a few eyebrows to be raised.

Review 98:The hotel has yiu booking in at 2pm, we arrived at 12.30pm to be told that the room wasn't ready (fair comment) we were told that the housekeeping Would be on it and our room woukd be approximate 20 mins, arrived back at 13.55pm and again we were told or rather asked if we woukd like to go back to the beefeater fir a further 20 mins or so, we decided that we woukd go to Harry Potter and sort tge room later as we had already eaten. Arriving back at the hotel gone 18.30pm I expected the room to be ready, no it wasn't we had no bed for our 10 tear ok'd boy, I went to reception to be met by a lady who continually said oh my god, oh my god, then after half hour asked if we would go to another premier inn, I said no as it was getting late andxwe were all extremely tired, the receptionist then gave us another room after she had made me feel uncomfortable that this next room was actually for another family the next night. We eventually got in the room with only two towels. I was told that I would be reinursed as vivisn the manager would fill out a form to go to premier inn customer relations, I spoke to them today and no forms have been done????

Review 99:The beefeater attached was excellent as was the food, breakfast and staff very professional.

Review 100:We stayed at the Premier in for one week while visiting family in the area. The room was basic, but comfortable. There was plenty of hot water for showers and the duvet was very warm. The adjacent restaurant was really convenient and the food enjoyable. The playground and ducks are great attractions for the kids.

Review 101:Overpriced compared to price paid in higher quality hotels in other areas

Review 102:Very convenient for M1 motorway. In a pleasant setting by a mill stream. Room clean if a little basic. Staff very obliging and helpful. Choice of either hard or soft pillows a nice touch but bed hard. Evening meal choice good and reasonably priced. Breakfast (the full English version) particularly good. Restaurant staff swift and efficient.

Review 103:We stayed twice. Once at the start of our holiday in England and again at the end, both times I thought the staff were unhelpful.

Review 104:Having the pub next door

Review 105:Heating inadequate. Very poor TV set, not even text available. Having to pay for Wi-fi! Shocking in this day and age.

Review 106:Felt secure. Handy restaurant and bar. Parking close.

Review 107:The staff did not know what they were doing the woman were ok but the male staff were useless we had to wait over an hour for our evening meal !

Review 108:The setting

Review 109:I think Premier Inn does not cater for the bonier customer. We have been to Ross on Wye and Kings Langley and had the same problem. Beds uncomfortable at all of them. Too hard. A firm mattress needs a soft pad.

Review 110:All fine except beds.

Review 111:This is a lovely place to stay, staff were both friendly and helpful. Room was clean ,tidy, comfortable and we both got a good night's sleep. Food was served in the Beefeater ,the evening meal was excellent and staff were also very nice cannot fault them in any way. As for breakfast.....the breakfast was one of the best I've had anywhere. Freshly cooked hot food and all you can eat in a beautiful setting. Happy to recommend both the Premier Inn and the Beefeater in Bricket Wood and would happily stay again if in the area.

Review 112:Restaurant not so good. Staff were slow but friendly. Took a long time to be seated even with a reservation. Slow to take an order. Meal was fair. Breakfast was poor.

Review 113:Lovely reception staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 114:Staff on reception didn't seem that organised when we arrived. Tried to charge us twice for breakfast until we pointed it out. Evening meal at the Beefeater was pretty average. Cold chips, soggy lettuce and coleslaw looked funny!

Review 115:Comfy bed Clean and modern

Review 116:Nothing - I grew up living by the main road into London, so even the motorway noise was fine.

Review 117:Staff were really helpful - I was on my own with my three boys and they made everything really easy for me, including changing my dinner booking at the last minute.

Review 118:No aircon combined with windows that open only 2 inches At £100 excluding breakfast this is not good value No lift. Not ideal when you have booked with small children

Review 119:No quibble refund when complained.

Review 120:Coffee and teas was not replenished at all during our stay!

Review 121:Convenient, well located in relation to London and the area we wanted to visit. Excellent meal facilities in The Mill.

Review 122:If you're like me, and travel with two active kids under three year olds, it's hard to have a leisurely meal out. I actually avoid those scenarios now as I just don't enjoy it. However, this location is perfect! With it's "waterfall" as the background to alfresco eating, and playground (husband accompanied the children while I ate my breakfast in peace), this was perfect! Beds were comfortable. I would definitely go back here, and wish all premier inns had a similar location setting.

Review 123:Hot muggy weather, meant stuffy rooms because windows don't open far. Air-conditioning or fans needed.

Review 124:Very pleasant location garden setting beside a small brook, complete with ducks and geese; so you hardly notice the proximity to the motorway. Very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant/pub next door in the old mill was very handy, with great breakfasts, as you come to expect with Premier Inn. The eve in meals were good, but short staff problems caused some inconvenience to a lot of people.

Review 125:# peoples attitudes towards children. That's not the hotels fault. Thats, arrogant people for you.

Review 126:# clean room # enough room for 2 adults, 3 children # location was prefect for Harry Potter studios # beefeater was lovely, with play area for children # friendly garden staff. # highly recommend!! # staff friendly and helpful

Review 127:Only difficulty in finding it. Like to take shower head down to rinse down.

Review 128:When we found it we were very satisfied. Even locals couldn't tell us where it was.

Review 129:The run down shed in the garden, with the pile of broken tables behind it( paint the shed & burn the old tables)

Review 130:Helpful staff, good sized room with comfortable beds, good food in nice surroundings

Review 131:Convenient to where we were visiting and you know what to expect from a Premier Inn.

Review 132:Our room smelt of damp and felt damp

Review 133:Very helpful staff. Breakfast was value for money and the kids eat free.

Review 134:No bad experience

Review 135:Staff were really helpful, room was comfortable and clean. The pub next to inn was lovely. Breakfast was well worth the money.

Review 136:Car essential
