Reviews for Buccleuch Arms Hotel

Review 1:all of it - we were on motorbikes and the hotel had garaging for each bike, we were met swiftly when we arrived and directed where to park. I was celebrating my birthday and was given a complimentary drink at the bar. the staff where all very helpful and the food was excellent

Review 2:n/a

Review 3:Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was lovely. Building very old but very tastefully decorated to enhance original features and was nice nd warm hroughout

Review 4:windows a bit draughty and room felt a bit cold once the radiators cooled down but this is because it is an old grade 2 building abd they have been renovating this year plus they have to get planning permission to do any work so no fault of their own This is my only fault . i would definately stay there again superb.

Review 5:Lovely charming old building staff all friendly and helpful Food was great

Review 6:Excellent, friendly staff at both check in, and at meal times. Moffat is a lovely town in a beautiful part of Scotland and the Buccleuch Arms is in a perfect location. Great food, service and ambience. We would certainly stay here again.

Review 7:Great welcome, staff attentive and friendly, motorbike facilities second to none, room warm and comfortable, impromptu folk music in afternoon! All Good!

Review 8:Warm welcome on arrival from the staff, who were only to happy to help provide us with secure parking for our motorbikes. Nice, clean rooms and excellent food and ale.

Review 9:Hotel is a little dated but the owners are working hard to grow and improve the business

Review 10:We received the most generous and genuine of welcomes. It was like being welcomed into a friends home. I've worked in the hotel industry for over 25 years now and never received a better check-in experience!. Better even than many's a 5 star hotels around the world..I'll be bringing the lessons learned back to work with me!

Review 11:Idont think there was anything not to like

Review 12:We enjoyed the easy access to shops The hotel was very clean All the staff we met were friendly and helpfulI

Review 13:Disco until 1:00 a:m right under our room which we weren't pre-warned about until we had checked in. Small discount offered when we checked out, which was appreciated, but would have preferred a good night's sleep to a bit off the bill.

Review 14:Our room was very tired with the heated towel rail in the ensuite hanging off the wall and wooden surfaces - window and door frames badly in need of painting

Review 15:This is a brilliant hotel. Perfect for motorcyclists. They have garages for parking bikes, bike cleaning facilities & will organize rides around the superb surrounding roads. We stayed for two nights before continuing on a tour to the north of Scotland. Next time we will stay longer! I cannot recommend it enough.

Review 16:Having to go home after just 1 night

Review 17:Fantastic. This hotel is well known as a destination for motorcyclists but you don't need to be a biker to appreciate the warmth and friendliness of the welcome and the quality of the food.

Review 18:A warm, friendly welcome. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The public rooms celebrated the traditional features of the building with a log fire and with pictures of the old town of Moffat.

Review 19:Noticed on arrival how stressed one member of staff was. Took 24 hours to locate a hairdryer by which time we were leaving. The hairdryer in our room was broke.

Review 20:It is central in Moffat so ideal for New Year. The room and bathroom was clean. The bed was comfortable but I would have preferred more conventional headboards on the beds. The staff were quite nice but seemed under pressure most of the time that we were there.

Review 21:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 22:Friendly welcome. Key for main door if needed to come in late. Clean room, plenty of towels, good powerful shower, well heated room, (had to turn radiator off), comfortable bed. Didn't use Wi-Fi so can't comment on that. Excellent breakfast, cheerful local staff. No hidden extras.

Review 23:Being woken at 6.30am with a noisy delivery truck right outside the window.

Review 24:Welcoming staff, dog-friendly, clean and comfortable with a great breakfast.

Review 25:I have seen Moffat on the signposts for 50 years and this is the first time We've stayed overnight there. It is definitely worth a longer stay. The hotel was comfortable , a little tired and definitely faded but the staff looked after us really well and were very responsive to any queries we had. The food was very good. Altogether a very enjoyable "stop-off" We shall come again

A good breakfast starts the day & the food in the evening is good to.Bedroom was small but clean & tidy.Parking for bikes was brilliant with induvidual shed for each bike and powerwasher available to.

Review 77:The older style dated bathroom

Review 78:Very comfortable if older hotel. Restaurant good and a fabulous Scottishbreakfast made with local produce. Excellent staff.

Review 79:Home from home, commanding views over Scotland's boarder countrythis olde worlde Scottish town is right on the m74, but very peacefuland with loads to do. The hotel is well appointed friendly to all andwelcomes bikers with little bike garages. The bar sells Innes and Gunnbeers one of Scotland's best kept secrets and not to be missed. Thecooking and breakfast in particular is really good but there is massesof local choice and tea shops. Simply a great place to stay.

Review 80:Stayed there a few years ago - nothing seems to have been renovated -definitely in need of some TLC - rooms clean but very tired. Breakfasts very good but food not as good as before.

Review 81:Dog friendly

Review 82:The friendliness and sense of humour of the staff, the restaurant (really great food, not the usual English fried stuff, although they do serve a very good fish and chips), their initiative, although we didn't book it (not too sure when we would be back) they did keep a table for us in their restaurant for Saturday evening just in case we wanted to dine with them. Which, of course, we did!

Review 88:Bathroom very dated and mold was evident.

Review 89:We loved that our dog was welcome and we had a table in bar reserved for our evening meal that included the dog. Breakfast was excellent. Barman was excellent and he also served breakfast - Amazing!

Review 90:Very long wait for dinner - however this was explained & a complimentary drink was had

Review 91:thoughtful staff had reserved a table for dinner in the bar due to us having a dog. simple lunches (toasties were very cheap and a great variety)

Review 92:The exterior and interior of the hotel, especially the bathrooms, need some repair and modernisation to bring the hotel up to current standards, but this would not stop me from staying again.

Review 93:The staff were very friendly and professional, the food was excellent and the bed very comfortable.

Review 94:The room was to say at best tired shower room mouldy and roon small as we apparently had a family room I also had to buy shower gel at the local coop as the toiletries were not replenished after the first day

Review 95:I like the separate garage for my bike and the staff and food

Review 96:Welcoming and very helpfull manager and staff. Convenient and quiet location. Excellent breakfast choices and evening menu. Very reasonable rom price. Probably the best hotel in Moffat

Review 103:I was surprised by: 1 being expected to arrive by 11pm (or was it 10pm?) 2 Absence of telephone in room 3 Absence of shower in room

Review 104:Being very close to the M74. You should market Moffat as the only town just off the southern part of the M74 and a convenient place to break a long journey north.

Review 105:Could have done with a fine dinning place in the town although all the places were of a good qualitiy but a bit the same.

Review 106:The Hotel Staff were great could not do enough to make you more welcome. The people and the Town of Moffat were very friendly. Location for traveling around Lowlands. Food at the Hotel very good standard and other establishments too. Use of local suppliers.
