Reviews for Old Glebe
Review 1:The warm, friendly Irish welcome, the tea and scones on arrival, the tasty, substantial "Ulster Fry" ,the beautiful house and gardens. We arrived as strangers and left as friends.
Review 2:None
Review 3:The hosts were exceptionally welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay memorable and enjoyable. The house itself is very elegant - it was a real treat staying in such a beautiful house and enjoying the drawing room and dining room.
Review 4:Fabulous house about 10 mins drIve from Bushmills. Owners were incredibly accommodating and gave us really useful tips on local places of interest . Breakfast was outstanding and room was spacious with a comfortable bed. Will be back!
Review 5:Nothing to not like
Review 6:The owners were so friendly and wanted to assure we saw all the best sites in the area. They gave great tips on where to park & how to beat the tour buses there. This is an amazingly well kept Georgian home.
Review 7:The directions given by the sat nav !
Review 8:The friendliness of our hosts .Every thing clicked into place to provide us with a very happy stay The breakfasts were too good! The whole house was fantastic down to the guitars!
Review 9:Many things but the best was the terrific welcome we received from Nick and Sylvia. Great hosts for the 3 days, couldn't do enough for us. Plenty of information regarding the area and just a lovely couple!!
Review 10:Ther were the best host we have encountered in many years of traveling. They bought special food for us when they found out we were on a diet. The last night we were there we wanted to go out to a pub and enjoy the local music and a few drinks.. Nick insisted that he drive us there so we did not have to worry about drinking too much.. Then he came and picked us up after.. We did not stay out too late.. But it was nice not to worry about driving after having one drink too many. Great people.. Great place and I can not say enough.
Review 11:Very good conditions. Owners very pleasant, friendly and good conversationalists. Excellent breakfast. Would definitely go again and highly recommend. Worth more the asking price.
Review 12:There was nothing at all to find fault with.
Review 13:The owners made us feel most welcome in their beautiful home. The bedroom was large and very comfortable. Excellent choice provided for breakfast.
Review 14:We booked two rooms, both with “view out to the front of the property” - only one did, the other was to the back. Both rooms had “private bathroom”, but only the one with front view was ensuite, the back room bathroom was across the corridor. Would the other front-facing room have been ensuite? Bedroom was massive, but its very size made it feel a bit spartan - e.g bedside cabinets only on one side of the bed and we had to ask for extra chair. It was also very warm despite the radiator being off in the room. Surprised there was no hospitality tray (for early morning tea/coffee) though a jug of chilled water was offered on retiring. I couldn’t get the TV in our room to work (no signal), but wi-fi worked perfectly. Our bathroom could have done with updating/refreshing and there was nowhere to hang towels or bathrobe. Shaver socket wasn’t working? (wouldn’t recharge my shaver). Lovely elegant setting for breakfast, but little choice offered (other than Ulster fry or scrambled eggs). No credit cards accepted - cash only (cheques reluctantly). They may not want to advertise “B&B” but an “Old Glebe” nameplate on the entrance gate pillars would be helpful.
Review 15:A magnificent house, impressive driveway and front entrance; beautifully elegant guest lounge and dining room. Extremely welcoming and sociable hosts. Nick was an absolute “tour guide” mine of information about the area. Tea and excellent scones on arrival (and on our return the next day) were very welcome (though some might prefer to be shown to their room to wash and brush up first).
Review 16:Try as we might, we couldn't find a thing that wasn't perfect.
Review 17:Nick and Sylvia welcomed us with cream tea in their beautiful sitting room and were immensely generous with helpful advice about touring in the area. It would be tragic to miss Nick's famous Ulster Fry for breakfast, but if you're staying for more than one day, do sacrifice the Ulster Fry one day for the sake of his spectacular scrambled eggs. Food for the gods!
Review 18:The bed was small and the mattress was thin....uncomfortable and only a foot off the floor so hard to get up from. There was nothing to place the suitcases on and the shower was small and minimalistic.
Review 19:The size and beauty of the 15000 sq ft building. The friendly and informed hosts who provided stories and the history of that region of Ireland as well as guidance on seeing the sights.
Review 20:House is wonderful. Nick and Sylvia welcomed us as if we were friends, serving tea and scones. Nick was so helpful with local knowledge and stories. Brilliant first stop on our week's tour of Ireland.
Review 21:Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly, and went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. The house itself is beautiful and in a great location. Would highly recommend.
Review 22:Nothing to dislike!
Review 23:So much to love on our visit - genuinely great welcome by our hosts; a grand, spacious and fascinating old family home with warmth and comfort; beautiful setting; good knowledge of locality and amenities; first class breakfast (GF/DF when required). We will be back!
Review 24:nothing!
Review 25:The welcome when we arrived was as warm and genuine as we have ever experienced ... the tea, scones, and stories (local legends). The house is beautiful and the location ideal for touring around the Antrim Coast including of course the Giant's Causeway. The providing of so much detail on sights to see, best travel routes and places to eat etc. were all additional elements of the wonderful hospitality. We 100% recommend Old Glebe.
Review 26:The owners, Sylvia and Nick are exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The house itself is really beautiful. Old world elegance, but with all mod cons. We would happily commend this to anybody. .
Review 27:It is clearly a home, our room felt like a family room and was a bit tired. The bed was very soft and the bathroom was small and in need of updating. Breakfast was plentiful, but it needed beans,or, tomatoes for moisture.
Review 28:The house and location are beautiful. Great welcome, warm and cosy. Owners are new to B&B and work hard to please guests. The downstairs rooms are spectacular.
Review 29:No rack to put case on. This is the only complaint.
Review 30:All great beautiful building great afternoon tea on arrival Good local knowledge Anyone should be happy to stay here
Review 31:My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and did not want to leave. Greeted by the friendly owner and his lovely wife when we arrived. We were given lovely tea and scones and the owner told us all about the area and provided us with advice on what to do in the area which was very helpful to us. Sound nights sleep both nights in our lovely comfy bed with our own private bathroom. There's a real Downton Abbey feel to the house which makes it a real treat to stay in. They owners could not have been more helpful with anything that we needed and went above and beyond for us. Excellent location also. I would recommend this place to anyone of any age or group
Review 32:Nothing negative to say.
Review 33:Warm welcome.Stunning house in a beautiful setting. Superb breakfast in an incredible dinning room. Great local info for sightseeing. A must try destination.
Review 34:We arrived to a wonderful welcome from Nick and Sylvia after a long three hour drive. We were brought into the drawing room where we got wonderful warm scones and tea. This was the beginning of a great two day stay. Nick gave us lots of ideas with some added history of places to visit. We had a delicious breakfast each morning. This is a B&B not to be missed. Well done Nick and Sylvia. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished with this magnificent house.
Review 35:Cramped shower room in the 'Blue Room'. Internet based television.
Review 36:Hospitality offered by the owners. Quality of breakfast Made to feel very welcome. Owners knowledge of the area
Review 37:The great welcome with cream teas. The helpfulness of Nick & Sylvia in recommending places to eat & visit. The fabulous surroundings of their home. The delicious Ulster breakfast, a first for us. Highly recommend this venue for quality and value for money. We shall return.
Review 38:That we had only booked for one day instead of 2 or 3.
Review 39:An amazingly beautiful and large home. The owners Nick and Sylvia made us feel as though we were staying with friends rather than at a B&B. Central to all things to do and see in the Bushmill area.
Review 40:It was rather warm at night.
Review 41:I took my wife for a relaxing w/end as a treat for her birthday. We were treated very well. Very quiet and very comfortable. Very much value for money Great breakfast
Review 42:Tea making facilities would have been nice.even though we were given tea and scones frequently.
Review 43:The hospitality was excellent and the breakfast very good. The building itself was magnificent with lots of antiques, paintings and comfortable furniture.
Review 44:No complaints but should really have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Was very hot in the room (despite no heating and windows open and not there fault as was summer) but was gasping for a drink. Perhaps consider a lower tog duvet for summer? And that is being picky because it was all so lovely.
Review 45:Lovely quiet location and a fabulous home. The hosts were very welcoming and warm folk. Very sociable. Lovely welcome with tea and home made scones with fresh cream and strawberry jam on arrival! When we returned from our evening meal we were offered coffee in the drawing room with the hosts and other guests. Very pleasant end to the evening. Yummy breakfast.
Review 46:The weather!!!!! (Just our bad timing, unfortunately).
Review 47:Beautiful house and beautiful coastline. Excellent hospitality, nothing too much trouble. Nick gave us some very helpful local knowledge and restaurant recommendations and Sylvia's scones are second to none.
Review 48:Our bed was modern and did not sit well in the ambience of the building. A more rustic or chunky bed and one 'less squeaky' would have been better
Review 49:Our hosts were so welcoming and warm and this was such a surprising bonus although on reflection Nicks generous offer to transport us to and from Bushmills should have forewarned us we were in for a treat. A fantastic property so beautifully presented. We will definitely return...soon
Review 50:Can't think of anything
Review 51:Host Lex offered local info about eveything inc restaurants and we were met a front door before we left and on return from days out. Very friendly.
Review 52:Having to move on to our next destination!
Review 53:What a wonderful house (mansion) set in its own grounds with a sweeping driveway just 10 mins from Bushmills. This is a family home of grand proportions, extremely welcoming hosts, great breakfasts - absolutely fabulous. We have stayed in many B&B's but Old Glebe is certainly one of the best.
Review 54:Sylvia and Nick were delightful. They were so accomodating willing to go out of their way to make sure my visit was memorable. Nick is quite the tour guide leading me to the Giants Causeway and the Dark Hedges. even the Queen had to see the Hedges. The location is centrally located to numerous small towns and conveinent to get where ever you need to go. Make sure to keep an eye out for the pheasants strolling the property. they are beautiful...I would highly recommend the Old Glebe.
Review 55:Absolutely nothing

Review 85:Everything!! Great hosts, lovely house, fantastic food.
Review 86:The peace and quiet of the countryside. The helpfulness and friendliness of our hosts
Review 87:The host was great, lots of help and stories Cream tea on arrival and the best breakfast in Ulster Lovely house and grounds Good location
Review 88:Squeaky bed
Review 89:Plenty of space, peace and comfort. Wonderfully friendly hosts
Review 90:A little further out of town than we had hoped
Review 91:The owners were great! The experience was great also
Review 92:Where to start? The couple who runs the place was beyond accommodating, at one point PICKING US UP from the pub because there were no taxi's due to the bank holiday weekend! They have some sheep and ducks kept in pens (out back, well away from the house) and we all loved waking up in a sheep-view room. The house is unbelievable. Truly a remarkable property and host/hostess.
Review 93:The hosts were very friendly and greeted us at the door. We were then shown into a beautiful drawing room for tea and scones with Nick the owner of the house. Our room was comfortable and spacious and we had access to our own private bathroom. The house is beautiful and very homely, we felt very welcome. Nick also gave us a list of local restaurants and bars to go for dinner which was extremely helpful. The breakfast the next morning was quite something... a selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt and toast followed by a full cooked Irish breakfast, complete with fresh orange juice and tea/coffee. The hospitality was second to none and we will definitely check in again to Old Glebe next time we are on the Antrim Coast.
Review 94:It's been a wonderful weekend at Old Glebe.I specially enjoyed the warmth hospitality from the host during my stay. The mansion is beautifully decorated with monumental artwork and paintings and the rooms are very spacious. If you are looking for a relaxing stay, don't miss out Old Blebe. It's conveniently located in the middle of all the attractions along the North Coast. Not to miss is the Mystical Dark Hedges, Dunluce Castle, the Giant's Causeways, Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge and Portrush.
Review 95:The house was grand without being stuffy and we were looked after very well with delicious homemade scones and an enormous breakfast each day. Our room was very quiet with beautiful views over the surrounding paddocks. The location of the property was close to all the well known attractions.
Review 96:That we had to go home so soon.
Review 97:What a pleasure to stay here. Our hosts Sylvia and Nick were welcoming, friendly, wise and wonderful. The house was an absolute delight to stay in. Apart from its own natural architectural attraction and its interior that blended effeffortlessly with the house's history, Old Glebe is the perfect place from which to explore, appreciate and enjoy the history and beauty of both the coastal area around Giant's Causeway and the Glens of Antrim.
Review 98:Lovely personal attention from lovely owners. Nothing too much trouble!
Review 99:Very welcoming owners. Beautiful large house to stay in. Well located for all the causeway coast site seeing. Thoroughly recommended.
