Reviews for The Kirkcudbright Bay Hotel

Review 1:Property really needs quite a lot of capital spent on it - basically a pub with partly done-up rooms. Would have been better to completely blitz one room at a time and gradually move to to the rest. But perfectly comfortable - and nice people.

Review 2:Lovely friendly staff and excellent location.

Review 3:We didn't like the fact that it wasn't well advertised that we would have to book a table anywhere to be able to go out to eat.

Review 4:We liked the location as it was central with easy parking. The breakfast was lovely as there was a lot of choice and it was well cooked.

Review 5:It was a shame that the frame of the lovely window in the bedroom was black with mould and the bathroom although clean and tidy was in need of a revamp ,and a bin to dispose of sanatory products please!

Review 6:staff really lovely, food brilliant, bed very comfy great location.

Review 7:Just one wee mention. Please put a toilet roll holder in room 3. Squirming round to get the roll off the cistern nearly ricked my back.

Review 8:Central location, but not noisy

Review 9:Staff welcome and central location for a non-driver who booked at quite short notice. The restaurant is getting a name for itself and is definitely good value for the quality of the cooking.

Review 10:Facilities need modernising. Bathroom needs a refit.

Review 11:Convenient location. Staff helpful and friendly. Provided assistance with luggage. Room comfortable

Review 12:Bit noisy in the late evening being above a public bar, but after about 11.30 it was really quiet.

Review 13:Nice friendly place with good food. Our room, number 1, was recently refurbished, large with nic outlook and lovely bathroom.

Review 14:dingy carpet in room No rack or chair to put luggage on but Loads of space to dress in bath if had luggage stand in there

Review 15:staff and food were excellent Christine went out of way to help despite being so busy serving older men in bar.

Review 16:The hotel needs a total refurb, new carpets and decor throughout

Review 17:The hotel was in the perfect location close to the centre and the harbour. The staff were great and the food is excellent

Review 18:The shower was disappointing and hot water intermittent,we think due to water pressure.

Review 19:Very welcoming and lovely large twin room to share. Food choice and quality was excellent. Staff were helpful and friendly throughout. Excellent location.

Review 20:Should finish refurbishing rooms and provide better clothes storage options.

Review 21:Friendly helpful staff, great food. Comfortable rooms and very good value. Surprisingly quiet given crossroads location near all amenities.

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:Right in the heart of Kirkcudbright, this cute little pub was perfect for our stay. He had dinner and breakfast and both were outstanding. Room had a cute bay window and we looked out to the park opposite. Wifi was fast but didn't quite reach our room. Would stay again.

Review 24:water supply to en suite was erratic shower ran very hot then cold and then stopped. management seemed unaware of problem.

Review 25:good location, very helpful staff good breakfast

Review 26:Room was quite small but as I was travelling alone, it was absolutely perfect; quiet and comfortable

Review 27:Clean, functional room, comfortable bed. Lovely staff. Good food.

Review 28:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food and service were excellent. We had a very early start on our second day and as a result missed breakfast so the staff made us a packed lunch at no extra charge. Stayed two nights in this hotel and would use it again.

Review 29:One of the other guests set off the fire alarm at 2am and there was no-one available to switch it off. Indeed the owners and no staff lived on the premises. The guests had to figure out how to cancel the alarm. Perhaps the owners should leave clear instructions to guests for such circumstancs.

Review 30:The location was perfect for walking round the local tourist sites. The room was very large with comfortable king size bed, sofa and newly refurbished en-suite. The breakfast, although very simple, was huge and freshly cooked to order. There was free car parking within a couple of metres. Excellent value for money.

Review 31:Electric sockets were too low, at floor level. we are an aging couple and found it difficult.

Review 32:Location, lovely room, very comfortable bed, met some VERY interesting people in the bar, staff very helpful.

Review 33:The only downside was a street light on all night almost directly in front of our window. I would recommend room 1 therefore to be provided with blackout curtains.

Review 34:The location is perfect in the centre of town. The staff were very attentive. The food was wonderful. There is plentiful free parking.

Review 35:Not much of a welcome. Wet towels and erratic warm water. No compensation for the above. Very much part of a pub, up the side stairs. Rather limited furniture in room - no where to put things in bathroom or hand clothes up.

Review 36:Convenient location in the town. Comfortable bed

Review 37:The bedroom (room 1) was right above the very busy bar. The noise from there and from the stairs leading from the bar to the room where bar users like to sit when the bar is full was very noise. Also the smell of cooked food was present in the room at all times

Review 38:Location was good and the hotel was very popular with good food and live music. The staff are very friendly and the refurbished bedroom and bathroom is very clean

Review 39:being a hotel, it was a bit noisy but settled down after 10.00pm - no secure car parking which is a bit of a security risk when having to park away from the hotel
