Reviews for Larkfield Priory Hotel

Review 1:Some of the bar staff (male) really need to improve their customer skills. For example, a simple friendly greeting followed by thank you would make a big difference.

Review 2:Polite helpful reception staff. Lounge area showing BBC News and Sky News. Checked out to early to have breakfast.

Review 3:Very good value for money. Clean and comfortable rooms, staff helpful and easy to drive to London and the Kent coast. A nice pub just down the road. We had our dogs in the car and there is a park opposite to walk them.

Review 4:The room was a touch Spartan. lots of cobwebs abounding, but everything worked.

Review 5:reception staff efficiency and hotel location were good for my purpose, which was simply a roof and a meal for the night, a break in my journey south

Review 6:Restaurant hardly lived up to the word. Sunday night menu non-existent, really. Food indifferent.

Review 7:Cheap and cheerful, can't really complain at the price. Staff were very helpful.

Review 8:Men sitting in lounge bar just from work in work gear full of paint and not very nice language .other guest's not pleased doors banging till 3 am and much to hot .

Review 9:The Christmas decorations

Review 10:The room was way too hot and the valve was broken so couldn't turn radiator off. Decor was dated and there was no hot water In the morning

Review 11:The location was good.

Review 12:I got around 2hrs sleep in room 102 due to the radiator pipes kept waking me up making a banging noise\racket from say 3am till 8am.

Review 13:Bar and staff were good

Review 14:The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was good for the purpose of my visit. My room was cleaned each day with tea and coffee supplies replenished .

Review 15:Filthy carpets, dirty room and no hot water or heating. Was told by staff member hot water and heating on timer. Told the next morning was a fault. Funny after we complained we had hot water within 1/2 hour. Management and staff should get their stories straight. Definitely not even a two star would not recommend

Review 16:Location

Review 17:The hotel felt dirty and old. Badly marked small table in room with tea, coffee stains. Should be replaced. restaurant awful, very poor carvery and everything was cold.

Review 18:location for an overnight was Ok after an 8 hour drive from mid France. Wouldn't go back again.

Review 19:didnt think it a good idea to have a kettle so high up on the wall , also we should be able to turn of heating as it was very hot at night with it on

Review 20:the staff was very friendly

Review 21:Lack of towels in bathroom, iron missing from the room, breakfast below average, quality of ingredients not great.

Review 22:Fairly friendly staff good location for our visit. Comfortable bed & large room.

Review 23:The place needs a good clean and refurbished the bar stopped serving food busy 9.00 we were arriving late so had we arrived earlier to see the room we stayed inni would of asked for my money back to find some were else

Review 24:It was horrible the bed was uncomfortable the pillows were dreadful the place was run down felt gutted paying nearly 80 pound for one night would of been better getting travel lodge

Review 25:Only the noisy bathroom fan which made relaxing in the bath unpleasant

Review 26:Nice staff easy access and parking. Room comfortable but extractor fan was very noisy. Needs a little TLC.

Review 27:English breakfast was a little average. Little bit dated in parts but not a major issue.

Review 28:Large, quite quiet, decent bar and rest. Loads of parking. Staff quite pleasant.

Review 29:I am slightly disabled. The Hotel ensured that i had a very comfortable room that met my needs ( with no fuss!) I had the carvery.I can honestly say that the Chef had prepared the meat to a better standard than I have experienced in some major london Hotels.Well done Christian!

Review 30:Food appalling, carvery cold-Meat tough. Rooms freezing - heating didn't work in 2 of them, but staff kindly found me another room and they fixed the heating. Shower on evening like warm. Ironing board bent- difficult to use. Overall outdated hotel, wouldn't recommend it

Review 31:To be honest I didn't like much about the whole experience!

Review 32:Very basic menu. I arrived late; tired and under the weather. Told I could order a meal for my room but then they wanted to charge me £3. I said to ring me when cooked and I'd carry it the 50 feet to my room myself. common sense prevailed - they brought it FOC. I couldn't turn shower off in the morning. No maintenance man till 8am. The hot shower ran for 30mins - it was like a sauna. Juice at breakfast was made from concentrate. Suggest immediate switch to pure juices. For health reasons good for everyone.

Review 33:Thai green curry best I've ever eaten. Lovely soft pillows. Had red Bush tea - well done.

Review 34:We took dinner on our second visit, Big mistake and we would not eat inhouse on subsequent visits.

Review 35:Really happy with our room on both occasions that we have stayed.

Review 36:Hotel looks very tired and worn. Although room and bathroom was clean, the bathroom grout and dealing was black and looked horrible. Okay as a last resort hotel.

Review 37:BREAKFAST- HAD TO ASK FOR CEREAL- LIMITED RANGE OF CEREAL- NO FRESH FRUIT- ONLY SLICED BREAD AVAILABLE- TOASTER TOOK AGES TO TOAST BREAD TOWELS IN ROOM- SEEM TO BE UNABLE TO SUPPLY ONE HAND TOWEL AND ONE BATH TOWEL PER PERSON- UNTIL WE ASKED. POOR QUALITY TOWELS

Review 38:CLEAN ROOM, GOOD SIZE, QUIET, COMFORTABLE BED

Review 39:Breakfast time was a Fars. the room was a converted broom cupboard that was not very successful as it is not very nice having a toilet roll under your left arm when you are on the loo

Review 40:nice brecky but no cereal out for continental.

Review 41:I didn't feel the cleanliness was up to scratch, room not hovered, bathroom quite grubby, and could do with re- tilling, the duvet had a rip in a it Also bare bed base showing stains not a good look, really needs new bedding to update it.

Review 42:The breakfast was good, although nice fresh bread of a good quality would have been better. I cant fault the staff, when I noticed no towels in the room they were bought to the room straight away. The beds were comfortable. A full English breakfast was given which was a nice a surprise as states in ad it would be Continental

Review 43:I wasn't very impressed with the restaurant. The menu choice was very small and I didn't think the curry was very good. It appeared to be a micro wave heated up job. The naan bread was simple cut up strips and the sauce wasn't very good. The hot buffet at breakfast wasn't hot or very fresh.

Review 44:Value for money was good. The hotel was clean and well presented.

Review 45:Tea in the room tasted cheap and yukky. This was especially important to us, as we had to skip breakfast owing to a dawn start for the Dover ferry.

Review 46:Friendly Spanish receptionist

Review 47:The rooms and hotel in general are in need of refurbishment especially the bathrooms and considering the price charged.

Review 48:Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were spacious and the breakfast was good.

Review 49:My room was able the outside smoking area so it smelt of smoke had to close the windows because people where smoking till 5 am outside They should move the smoking area away from the building

Review 50:Staff friendly and lbedrooms clean and tidy

Review 51:Not the room we expected.. asked for another room, no problem, they gave us anonther one. The beds were very good!!

Review 52:All were friendly, we say hello to Chrissie Good location!!

Review 53:The first morning of our three night stay we had no hot water in shower bath or basin and was told handyman was not on duty until 8am.As we had to get to a meeting we boiled a kettle and washed. On the second and third mornings we had barely warm showers and on the second morning discovered a pair of shorts behind a chair which were not ours. Had someone been in the room? Although all this was reported to reception each day nobody contacted us and obviously we handed in a complaints form which promised action within 72 hours we have heard nothing. That hotel break was meant to be a special treat for us, how disappointing!

Review 54:The bed was very comfortable, with crisp white bedlinen

Review 55:The reception staff were not very forth coming with information, i.e what room number we were and where the room was located and how to get there. There was no lift available and we had a baby in a car seat plus all of our baggage. There wasn't a set of towels in the bathroom for the baby, just 2 adults. The breakfast tasted nice but there was not much choice. My husband would have liked some black pudding with the cooked breakfast and I would have liked a choice of eggs. Also there was no croissants etc just bread and there was no fruit.

Review 56:The room was lovely and clean and the cot was all set up for us to use and very clean. We couldn't hear any other guests so I don't think they could hear when the baby occasionally cried which was nice fur us not worry about disturbing people. The staff in the breakfast room were very helpful and polite and the cooked breakfast tasted nice. The hotel was well situated next to a Tesco express and a Morrison's which was great for getting some fruit to feed the baby. It was very near a lovely pub called Meaden Hall which we went for a Sunday roast and a few minutes drive from Aylesford and a few parks which we visited, Cobtree park and Kent life which was a great day out.

Review 57:View from our window, overlooking the staircase, air con trunking rusty, rubbish on the iron staircase. Breakfast, would have liked a choice, cereals, fruit, yogurt. Sausages were awful. Carpets need attention or replacing.

Review 58:Location, quiet hotel .Adequate.

Review 59:Breakfast cold, cheap sausages, no cereals or fruit. Would have preferred to have paid for breakfast and got something decent. Bathroom very dated definitely needs a refurbishment.

Review 60:Staff were friendly.

Review 61:Shower head too low, Bar expensive, The whole place a little old and tired, for the price I've been in better Premier Inns.

Review 62:Location was useful, Room was OK, Parking good.

Review 63:the breakfast buffet needs a bit of work. Making your own toast means either the rest of your breakfast gets cold whilst waiting or your toast gets cold whilst your getting your breakfast. Plates also need to be in a warmer.

Review 64:Very friendly helpfull staff

Review 65:Breakfast was a bit well cooked. We also had a carvery at night and it was not up to standard. It's a shame as the food let it down.

Review 66:Good location. Nice building.

Review 67:Staff chatting outside bedroom window through night Blue bottles enjoying cavery Although advising of mobility problems bedroom on 2nd floor no help offered with bags No remote for television Hot water almost non existent 3inch screw on floor to be stood on Lighting in bedroom poor Too much to go on.

Review 68:One member of staff was quite helpful

Review 69:Smokedetector covered with a plastic bag, dirty, old and worn down carpets, bad price performance ration, next to a DIY market, the pictures suggest a country location, but it isn't

Review 70:MainRoad in Front of the Hotel

Review 71:Choice of food at breakfast. No continental menu as advertised and as on booking form. Cereal only provided as alternative to cooked food. No yoghurt or fresh fruit.

Review 72:Inside the hotel is tired and drab. The room was a true nighmare, illuminated all night by a colour changing LED floodlight facing directly onto the bedroom. Power was cut off in the night to the room, so there was no lighting in the bedroom or bathroom. A request to resolve was lodged with reception, but nothing could supposedly be done until maintenance arrived the following day. What really shocked me is that upon registering a formal complaint the Owner/Manager sidestepped the concerns, tried to deny anything had been reported to reception, hiding behind customer focussed platitudes and then when further pressed, simply blamed their own staff members for the issues.. Aside the room the breakfast is poor, with limited selection or choice, dried up and generally unsavoury. Senior management adopt a high handed approach to customers and will not even call to discuss concerns and that no refunds, concessions compromises will be offered. I'm a seasoned professional business traveller, take the rough with the smooth, but missed a trick here by simply not checking other guest reviews. I'll not be back and now look forward to reading their inevitable rebukes to the review...

Review 73:Looks great from the road

Review 74:Iron in room leaking, with a electrical pac test of 2009, handle on toilet flush system was a bolt, room in general worn and very small single bed, wifi did not work, couldn't send work to my boss for next morning, no matter where I was in the hotel, not impressed

Review 75:helpful receptionist

Review 76:The television was on the left of double bed, which is stupid place Breakfast was not nice, bakebeans burnt. After 1st night, you have to chase after towels and plastic beakers in bathroom

Review 77:The room is a nice size

Review 78:Great stay, the staff really tried to work hard to make sure we had a perfect stay and they succeeded .Special thanks to Georgie at reception for taking care of all our enquiries, she was great.

Review 79:Beds uncomfortable. Room basic. No Wifi in rooms. Very short on personal supplies, just basic shower and shampoo. Too many foreign staff. No refund for not having breakfast as we had to leave early.

Review 80:Moving on.

Review 81:We found nothing to dislike, served our purpose.

Review 82:The hotel staff were polite and not intrusive. The hotel had a very relaxing feel about it that allowed you to go about your business or pleasure without feeling restricted.

Review 83:Very poor restaurant and food that is either frozen and microwaved or curled up carvery. Breakfast had no health option whatsoever

Review 84:Some of the staff were friendly, but seemed to be there merely to smile at the guests - they didn't have much to do

Review 85:Rooms very basic smelt of sick plus our friends room had sick on the floor when they were offered another room in was in an annex with camp beds

Review 86:Very beautiful looking from outside

Review 87:Wi-Fi did not work

Review 88:I was pleasantly surprised by the standard and quality of the breakfast. I'm not really a breakfast person, but will come back for more.

Review 89:We went two days without hot water in our shower, after reporting it to staff. We were finally upgraded to a new room where the shower barely had any pressure and was just warm enough to stand under. We did receive £20 off, but we would not stay here again.

Review 90:Rooms were spacious and clean.

Review 91:Carvery was "ok" a bit tired and not refreshed the cooked breakfast was a bonus we didn't expect but replenishing the buffet was very poor we got there at the right time everyone else had to wait for eggs bacon etc.

Review 92:Think it was Lisa on the desk sorted the booking error fantastically we had booked a family room for two adults and two children and been allocated a double and single she managed an extra bed an changed the charge to reflect the situation.

Review 93:The bacon! Stuck together in a lump.

Review 94:Stayed at the hotel for a nearby festival so checked in near midnight with no problems. Check in staff and breakfast waiters pretty friendly. Breakfast was good. Good value for money considering breakfast included.

Review 95:Yhe base of the bed was stained and not covered with a valance although the sheets were very clean. Breakfast was very poor and poorly organised.

Review 96:Good location. free wifi, friendly staff

Review 97:Grouting in the bathroom was mouldy which is not necessary when so many products are available to remedy the problem

Review 98:Staff helpfullness and food quality

Review 99:The food served at the wedding reception dinner was very standard.... chicken was overcook and no sauce/gravy was supplied.... Hotel seemed a little outdated and in need of a spruce-up!

Review 100:The location

Review 101:We asked about wifi we were given the code, unfortunately we were in the back of the hotel and the signal was poor in our room. We found the signal to be good in the breakfast room the next morning when we were leaving.

Review 102:Very nice hotel everything was good enjoyed the stay.

Review 103:Shower head too low. No electrical sockets anywhere near the bed. Curtains very thin so light came in very early. No hot/cold labels on taps in bathroom.

Review 104:Spacious room. Friendly staff.

Review 105:on arrival I picked the key for the room, I was expecting 2 as the room I booked was a family room which should have been a twin and double room with interconnecting door. I had booked this for my colleague and I as it was cheaper than booking 2 separate rooms. it was a room with a double and single bed. I went back to reception and complained, they said thats what booking.com had asked for?? They didn't have any twin/double interconnect rooms left. Ended up with 2 separate rooms which was fine but we both ended up being moved to other rooms due to issues with the rooms like electrical problems etc. Don't know who's fault the initial problem was but not happy about it anyway!! Menu not as described on hotel website and very limited. They were more interested in pushing the carvery. Lots of people complained about it so I'm glad I didn't try it. It was too hot for carvery anyway, Had steak and I asked about a sauce and was offered ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise or horseradish. When I asked about peppercorn I was given a puzzled look. Where do they get their staff, by the accent and limited vocabulary I'd guess eastern europe. Apparently my burger the following night had gernik in it. I think she meant gerkin lol. They were quite attentive though and the main issue here is the management. Don't change the menu in the hotel without changing the one on you website. Place needs a refurb and aircon in the restaurant. Showers had no pressure at all. I don't know what the rooms in the newer part of the building are like as I didn't see any

Review 106:nice big lawn out front with seating to have a cold drink after work. Receptionist very helpful. Review 107:Of the 4 days I left in the morning and returned to the room in the evening the room was only fully serviced once. Shower not working properly and was only fixed on second time of reporting it. The quality of breakfast ingredients changed from mid-week (mainly workmen) to the weekend (couples and families)!!

Review 108:Had to move out for 6 days whilst builders in my house, so this was handy for work. The hotel looks lovely from the outside.

Review 109:First room was like a sauna - radiator seemed to be stuck on and day was extremely hot. No other double rooms available due to a party in the hotel, but we were moved to a twin room which was cool so thats all we needed ! All staff we encountered were extremely nice and although the hotel is a little tired in places i dont see that as a problem as long as any issues are resolved if they should arise.

Review 110:Location was exactly where we needed to be for a business meeting en-route to France. Good car parking, easy to find, hearty breakfast the following morning and with fuel station next door - so this provided us with everything we needed. Will definitely stay again as its an ideal stop over from the north of England before crossing to France. Receptionist very pleasant and helpful when we needed to move to a cooler room (the radiator had been left on in the first one we were given despite the day being incredibly hot!)

Review 111:The room I was given initially was a bit tired and worn, the decor needs tidying and the furniture was past it's best. I phoned reception and asked for a change of room and was given a far superior room. The inclusive continental buffet style breakfast was non existing, they didn't even have any choice of cereal! The young waiter was so embarrassed that he offered to go out and buy some. I thanked him for this but said not to as he should not have been put in that position as it was a failing on managements part and they were responsible for ensuring that everything should be as advertised.

Review 112:I liked the helpful receptionist that changed my room after I advised that the original one allocated was not acceptable. The replacement room was much better, so thanks for that.

Review 113:Disappointing to get two single beds when I booked a family room. The wifi was poor and the TV didn't have a remote control.

Review 114:The beds were comfortable and the location was good.

Review 115:Cheap uncomfortable mattress on bed. Poor food in evenings. Breakfast buffet style cheap ingredients. Worn out carpets and decor throughout. Too expensive for what was on offer.

Review 116:Friendly helpful staff.Free car parking. Fairly large bedroom.

Review 117:dirty sheets full rubbish bins dirty broken mugs dirty shower curtain the list is ever ending ...this hotel is tired.....THIS WAS CORRECTED THE FOLLOWING DAY BUT WE STILL HAD TO LIVE WITH FOR A NIGHT

Review 118:The staff did there best with a bad situation

Review 119:Room not cleaned properly. Furniture broken - I had to mend it twice during an overnight stay. Bathroom very dirty. Overpriced for quality and cleanliness of room. Not sound proofed - could hear everything - and I mean everything other guests were doing.

Review 120:Listening to the guests in other rooms making love.

Review 121:Muddled at reception despite best effort of the charming receptionist. Tiny towels in bathroom. Wi-fi so weak as to be unusable. Evening meal poor quality and bar/dining staff poorly organised.

Review 122:Location suited our purposes and the breakfast was good. Staff friendly.

Review 123:The cleanness of the room showers that wit no water pressure greasy breakfast and not many continental options

Review 124:Evening reception staff were really helpful

Review 125:Food menue had been greatly reduced around the end of May which had not been updated on the website. Choice now very limited.

Review 126:Value for money overall. Full breakfast included in the price.

Review 127:Food was a disgrace, had Roast Dinner and it was inedible. A LA Carte was a little better and breakfast was dreadful, particularly the "bacon" Wi-fi really only in Reception area. Also room was not serviced one time

Review 128:Room was spacious & comfortable and very convenient being on the Ground Floor. Excellent parking.

Review 129:The initial bar area has limited seating and the area I suppose you would take your drinks to is a little clinical. The drink prices are a little on the high side.

Review 130:It has the majority of facilities you would elect to find in a hotel.

Review 131:The food was always cold and left out of heat and my toilet was broken in room. Also had problems getting the free WiFi up a lot in room.

Review 132:The accommodation was comfortable staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean.

Review 133:Checking in 30 minutes early and being told I had to pay a £10 "early check in" fee was nonsense and would not have disgraced Fawlty Towers. Unbelievable.

Review 134:Car parking was plentiful

Review 135:Room poor, furnishings old, curtains in bathroom dirty. Asked for extra hangers none provided. Continental breakfast poor, no fruit yogurt etc, Ltd choice of cereals and cooked breakfast fair. Hotel was noisy on weekend evening sleep disturbed.

Review 136:The hotel was very dated and had a distinctive smell on entering. We arrived at around 9pm and having travelled for the last 5 hours we expected to have a meal as the restaurant closed at 9.30pm We were told that they had closed at 9.15, very disappointed as you can imagine. The bar staff did offer us a sandwich but we declined this as we had been working and traveling all day and expected to have a full meal. The hotel was dirty and the skirting boards in my room were filthy. I placed my one of my pillows on the floor and the next morning I was horrified to fined thick dust and hair all over it. One of my colleagues had said that the taps were so close to the tiles in the bathroom, he had great difficulty turning them on. We will not use this hotel again.

Review 137:Location to our business venue only

Review 138:The bath had hairs in them and couldn't work the shower and bath was a bit small for what i paid.

Review 139:The dinner, the staff was very helpful and welcoming also someone about if you needed them.

Review 140:Menu on Sunday evening , is none ! Google earth it to see what it really looks like . Breakfast almost found meat in the sausages , between the grease. 3 star really ?

Review 141:Close to many places of interest .

Review 142:The rooms were a bit tatty and in need of a refurbish, the bedding was clean but on one of the single bed valances there was something very unsavory, and on the double bed it looked a lot like blood stains on the divan

Review 143:The staff were friendly the breakfast was good
