Reviews for Village Hotel Maidstone

Review 1:Having stayed here once before I was excited to do so again. Unfortunately the experience was awful, whilst staff, cleanliness and the room where fine being put next to the swimming pool generator was awful. Add to this that I am partially deaf, shows how loud it must have been. The fact that it churned away all night causing NO SLEEP made me grumpy and fed up that a mini break we had been looking forward to was ruined. It was mentioned on our departure to the chap on reception who explained that hotel renovations were being carried out, I did explain they should offer earplugs at the very least.

Review 2:The hotel was lovely and clean and quiet and warm! We had dinner one evening. It was beautifully presented and the wait staff were great, particularly our waiter Conor.

Review 3:Unable to use bar and dining area due to party's. View was of a skip and car park.

Review 4:Hotel was excellent and the staff were the friendliest and most helpful we have ever encountered.

Review 5:Very disorganised at Reception and not friendly. They also debited my account for 1 nights room a week before we arrived and we booked on the flexi booking so should not have taken money. I am still trying to get this back,

Review 6:Spa facilities and bar and food was good also.

Review 7:The wifi reception was not good and the quality of the tv was not good only got minimal channels not freeview and no fridge in room. Breakfast was mediocre quality of food was poor buy variety was good

Review 8:The location was good only 5 min from the city centre and the rooms was clean and value for money

Review 9:I called the previous day before my stay to enquire about services, upgrading my room to the upper deck and late check out and I spoke to Dave. He was very abrupt and not very welcoming, he didn't really give me a chance to ask more questions or offer me other options.

Review 10:Staff in the gym reception were very kind and helpful.

Review 11:A little on the warm side but it was a mild evening

Review 12:Hotel was excellent value for money Staff were friendly and helpful Food was good but we wished we'd used the pool ask it looped very inviting

Review 13:I was under the impression this was a premium hotel but the room did not have premium features. I'd compare this hotel to one of budget pricing, although it would be the best of those no more.

Review 14:music that carried on very loudly until 2am, I appreciate that oters wanted to carry on partying but feel was rather disrespectful to guests staying at the hotel.

Review 15:stayed here for a christmas party, food good, entertainment good. Room was nice and spacious and bed very comfortable.

Review 16:Needs a water bottle and cups in the gym. One waitress in tie bar didnt know what rjioca red wine was and ended up ordering a beer because she was taking so long to their own wine menu!

Review 17:Staff and room were excellent, friendly clean and superb value for money.

Review 18:My breakfast, which I had at 10am was totally cold each and every item as well as the plates so I ended up with some croissants and jam with my coffee.

Review 19:Great reception staff

Review 20:I was informed on arrival that the restaurant would be closed and there would be a noisy Xmas party and that I had been informed by email. This was not the case, and no information was provided, or I would have cancelled my reservation.

Review 21:Option to use facilities was great. Breakfast was very good.

Review 22:Parties at hotel the night we stayed. Requested room at back away from noise. This we had and had a lively stayed. Staff were excellent and remembered our name, nice and friendly

Review 23:the room was close to an extractor fan that continued constantly all night. I was served raw Chicken at main meal which totally put me off. I will not be staying here again.Room was tired.

Review 24:leaving

Review 25:We stayed in an upper deck room which was very comfortable, would recommend paying the extra money. On arrival we were given free drinks for my partners birthday which I thought was very kind! Would stay here again.

Review 26:the heating in the room was always very high, even when we turned it down, - could have had a better view out of the window, - the TV channels wasn't always working either,

Review 27:nice relaxed hotel, nothing seemed to much of a problem for staff. the evening party crowd were well behaved, unlike some places you visit.

Review 28:Not a bad experience but price a little expensive for what I needed - at least breakfast was included.

Review 29:Quiet room, comfortable temperature, very clean and well-presented.

Review 30:A sandwich I bought wasn't great value at over £4. It was 2 slices of cut bread with a small amount of ham & ditto tomato. It was dry.

Review 31:Staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast was neither good nor bad. The pool & Jacuzzi were fine.

Review 32:Breakfast was prepayed for and no one updated th e system and the lady in the restaurant was very rude and intimidating ,we have used this hotel numerous times for the location and never had one visit without a issue ,will not visit again.

Review 33:The mattress and the pillows need an update! Generally the hotel could benefit from an update.

Review 34:The location was great. The breakfast really good! We loved it! Clean enough and stuff ok. There was a good hairdryer and an iron with an iron board . A mobile fan, too as the room was really hot. We had few drinks and a burger in the pub in the hotel and everything was fine:)

Review 35:Didn't enjoy being woken up at 2 am with a couple arguing and swearing on the landing

Review 36:Was ok staying there and would again staff are more than helpfull

Review 37:The bathroom had a lot of rust/mould. I think a general overhaul of the bathroom would be good.

Review 38:The bedroom was very nice, good size, tea etc. was good, TV - no complaints whatsoever..

Review 39:At 1.15 am I had to be re-roomed from Rm 137 because of an unacceptable level of noise coming from a generator next door. The night porter was helpful but I had to dress etc etc and had the night disrupted. The following morning the Duty Manager agreed to waive the eve charges but I am demanding a more realistic form of compensation. That level of noise was wholly unacceptable in a hotel & I will be reluctant to stay with this chain again

Review 40:Location

Review 41:I was a little disappointed with the hotel - rightly or wrongly I expected a little more. The room and bathroom was basic, I felt like it needed a revamp.

Review 42:The staff that we encountered were all really friendly and helpful.

Review 43:Poorly lit room with main lamp broken which was not replaced during our stay. There are no maintenance staff at the weekend so the restaurant manager came to look at the light. Replacing the bulb did not work. Unfortunately our food got cold while he examined the light. No offer of an alternative room or other compensation.

Review 44:Good location. Healthy food options.

Review 45:The swimming pool was larger than most hotels. The bar had a great atmosphere. The bar food was lovely and very reasonably priced. The whole hotel was very clean and up-to-date.

Review 46:My family use this hotel from time to time. But was surprised on this visit & embarressed to be asked for £5 to use steamroom!

Review 47:Our room request near leisure suit, could not be closer thanks

Review 48:Was 2nd day of honeymoon. Staff gave us wine and chocolates and the service was brilliant. Had at a meal in the restaurant and again....faultless. Would come again without fail

Review 49:The bathroom was dirty and the toilet cistern was running all night. The people in the room above us kept us awake with the noise they were making. Had to pay £5 to use the gym whereas before it was free.

Review 50:The breakfast was excellent and the location is good.

Review 51:May sound silly and not a complaint. In the breakfast room it would be nice to have a small container to put all the bits of rubbish in.ie empty sugar pods, butter container etc

Review 52:Very nice Hotel We would stay again

Review 53:It was impossible to get a solid WiFi / Internet connection anywhere in the hotel in order for me to continue work. There is no option to upgrade this to a premium version. Not ideal for Business Trips

Review 54:It was close to supplier base for business Foyer and communal areas are well presented,

Review 55:Room was very hot even though we the heating was on the lowest point and also all the tools were stolen from my work van police told me that this hotel is a hotspot for thieves. Hotel took my details on a note pad. Not happy

Review 56:Nice gym, swimming pool etc also rooms and restaurants

Review 57:need more of a area where people can relax plastic throw away glass's in the bathroom you feel that the ones provided are they sterile

Review 58:the food was good a bit to expensive for main meal should have included a sweet for £10

Review 59:The water pump in the cupboard next to our room disturbed our sleep along with the constant dipping and gurgling of the toilet cistern during the night

Review 60:The staff were incredibly helpful - always available and very courteous Everything was faultless; the room, the bathroom, leisure facilities - couldn't fault it

Review 61:Walls were thin, lots of night-time noise which is an issue as this property was frequented by a lot of stag/hen parties. Room next door to mine was hoting a party which could be heard loudly through the walls. Lots of "bedroom" noise too. Rooms were tired and in need of re-painting

Review 62:Clean.

Review 63:No bad experience but always could do with a bit cheaper or more offers.

Review 64:Great gym and swimming pool, food in the restaurants and breakfast was lovely.

Review 65:Charging my meal to my room card was not accepted, even though my card was swiped against my room number when I checked in for this purpose.

Review 66:Easy to get to. Very clean and comfortable room.

Review 67:Whilst being comfortable, there is a general feeling of tiredness about the decoration, especially the bathroom which had cracked tiles on the floor and the base of the door architrave was discoloured from perhaps rot, caused be over washing. The back of the TV remote control was missing causing the batteries to fall out if laid on its back.

Review 68:Its convinient location, free wi-fi, The choice at breakfast. The staff who were all polite and helpful.

Review 69:The fact everything you want is all in one place. The location very accessible from motorways Outstanding walks & views Would easily recommend

Review 70:The hotel was just too hot. The bed was comfortable but the memory foam made you hotter. we had the window open all the time yet we were boiling. The breakfast was good but did not start at the time it was supposed to and we stayed because we had to be at the show ground early. Three of the four days we could not have breakfast because of the times so we paid for something we were unable to have. This was the same last year and I wrote about it but it has not changed. Not everyone wants a late breakfast over a bank holiday, people who are away for the bank holiday want an early start so they can do as much as possible during their break.

Review 71:The staff were delightful. helpful and very pleasant.

Review 72:Staff seemed rushed and when asking them questions you seemed to feel like you was an inconvenience. Room was not ready on arrival, when we went into room, bathroom was not clean, hair in bath and floors not hoovered as more hair on floor. Layers of dust around skirting boards and in the corners. Noise level from room above was noisy, woken up several times in the night due to the noise. At breakfast we went at 8.45am and the cooked food had been sitting there for a while, so scrambled egg was all dry and so was beans, cleanliness of the floor in the restaurant from previous customers was awful, under our table was sausages and lots of crumb mess, a quick sweep would of sorted this. Also when booking it states they have a lovely pool but not clear that you need to pay to use this facility.

Review 73:The room was very hot. The windows were not accessible enough and quite old. The breakfast didn't blow me away. We paid a lot more than our friends did.

Review 74:How close it was to kent life.

Review 75:My mum got married 30th August and had reception at this hotel. The food was lovely the rooms were clean. The customer service in the restaurant was quite poor, there was 20 of us and pretty much the only people in the restaurant and it took over 20 minutes for a waitress to ask us if we wanted a drink. We had 2 large tables and asked for the bills to be split food and drinks into tables, they were all mixed together and took ages. There was duplicated items on the bill, the bill started at £460 and ended at £370. My husband and I spent over £500 with this hotel in 2 days and it was sad to think it was average when you think the amount of revenue the hotel made from my mums wedding.

Review 76:Hairs in bath that weren't ours meant I questioned cleanliness of room.

Review 77:Lovely welcome and friendly staff throughout visit. Location was perfect for museum of Kent life where we went for a wedding.

Review 78:It would've been nice to have an outdoor area to sit in that wasn't by the car park

Review 79:A great place to stay and get away, friendly and helpful staff on hand to help out and pretty good value for money too.

Review 80:We had a couple of minor issues which we have taken up with the hotel directly - bathroom cleanliness needed improvement and I had an issue with breakfast on one of the 5 mornings. It's also annoying that the cleaning service remove the second key card from the power slot during the day - when we had specifically left it in to charge medical equipment while we were out. They did this twice, despite being asked not to!

Review 81:This is a well located hotel for the town centre and local transport links (M20 and M2) and has great facilities in house as well as terrific free internet. Busy with comings and goings for the hotel services (leisure centre, bar, restaurants) but plenty of parking available.

Review 82:Location, indoor pool, close to River Medway walks and boat trip. Also the Kent Museum which could easily spent a hour. Friendly and attentive staff at a very busy Sunday breakfast.

Review 83:The shower head in the room was in desperate need of repair/replacement, water gushed out of the side. TV Channel BBC2 didn't work. Service in the pub was poor, virtually ignored when waiting to be served at the bar.

Review 84:Quick easy check in. Leisure facilities.

Review 85:It felt crowded. Our room was above the entrance and as we needed the windows open the smoke from people smoking outside below came through the window as did the noise until 3am and started again about 6am. We didn't get much sleep.

Review 86:It was convenient. Staff were pleasant and facilities very good.

Review 87:Queuing,for breakfast. They should just take your name, and let you find your own place to sit, less for the staff to do,as well. The meals in the Restaurant, were not as good.Running out of beer. Not making time to make sticky toffee pudding. The only dessert,we wanted. The rooms could have been better. They was quite small, and was not cleaned properly. There were, cobwebs on the ceiling.

Review 88:The staff, was very good, and very helpful. Breakfast food great, and staff, was very good.It would have a been a little better, for other bread to have with breakfast, and more choice of mussili. Had iron in the room, that was good, and tea and coffee making facilitys.

Review 89:Only bad thing was the wifi hardly worked ended up using mobile internet

Review 90:Me and my partner stayed here forb3 nights and would recommend to anyone close to where we wanted to be and staff were very friendly, breakfast was amazing would definitely go back with the kids

Review 91:The tea!

Review 92:We enjoyed the whole weekend. We particularly like the fact that the hotel is very easy to find after exiting the motorway and also that it is so close to the River Medway.

Review 93:There were a few things that were not that perfect but it didn't really ruined our stay. Our room was on the 2nd floor just under the roof (we suppose), so it was very hot in the room (especially a few days that it was real heat outside) but there was no conditioner. We had a fan but it didn't really help. Just outside our window some piping was located. During the night, when we tried to let some fresh air and opened the window, it was pretty loud. The cleanliness was compromised by hair in the bath drain and towels with stains (for some unknown reason, for a few days the cleaning lady was leaving only one set of towels instead of two. I'm sure it would be fixed if we told about it on reception but we kept forgetting). There was no cold water in the shower, even though there was no problem with it in the sink tap. We were intrigued :) Breakfast was disappointing (except for pastry)

Review 94:Friendly staff, Starbucks cafe, a restaurant and a pub (a good one!) onsite, swimming pool is definitely a big plus, free parking. Having iron and ironing board in the room was very handy! Pastry at the breakfast was fresh and tasty.

Review 95:Room was poorly decorated, stained carpets and didn't look at all like the pics. Restaurant service was disgraceful, refused to serve us at 21h02 as restaurant closed at 21h00. Pub food took over 1 hour to arrive and was very poor and meals not as advertised. Tricked into taking the room thinking breakfast was included.

Review 96:The location was ideal for us.

Review 97:Room not properly prepared for 2 adults & 2 children but staff resolved this very quickly

Review 98:Great sized room, excellent breakfast, perfect location after channel tunnel crossing

Review 99:it was hot in the room, i would have preferred an ac in the room. when I open the window, cigarette smokes from people on the ground was coming into the room. not ideal considering we had little one.

Review 100:swimming pool, breakfast, location, price

Review 101:Room 235 wasn't cleaned for 2 nights out of the 3. The guests had to collect fresh towels from reception on both days. Both rooms were very hot

Review 102:Good breakfast and gym with air conditioning

Review 103:Took a little too long to get room cleaned on final full day but when she did arrive the chambermaid was most efficient Noise! Bedroom walls and ceilings are thin, and (sprung wood?) corridors reverberate with footsteps. One night we were constantly awoken by thudding either on the ceiling (at one stage it seemed someone very heavy had fallen out of bed in the room above!) or in the outside corridor. If only the Village had a Good Night's Sleep guarantee, like Premier Inn! Long and expensive taxi ride into the town centre

Review 104:Free wi fi, proximity to Kent Life, decent breakfasts

Review 105:Meal on first night was lukewarm in Verve restaurant. However was not charged for this meal once pointed out to staff. Must have a car as couple of miles from town centre

Review 106:Staff welcoming and accommodating. Bed very comfortable. Has gym swimming pool and sauna

Review 107:Use of swimming pool. Easy access to M20, Maidstone, barming, larkfield, sainsburys. Very good restaurant poppyfields nearby. Great weather in Maidstone. Tasty scrambled eggs. Room cleaned every day, fresh towels. Left an iPad charger behind and friendly receptionist and housekeeping had put it away for us to pick up :)

Review 108:the room was quite shabby, smelled a little stuffy, and was at the end of a very long corridor. I seemed to be allergic to something in the room as I found it difficult to breath in there.

Review 109:location was good to arrive by car nice reception area, lively staff were very friendly

Review 110:Booked family room with sofa bed and cot with arrival time of 11-midnight. On arrival there was no cot and no bedding for sofa bed so took 30 mins to get 3 kids to bed at midnight. On check out the receptionist talked to me as if I'd made the mistake rather than them so won't be visiting again.

Review 111:The staff at the hotel went above & beyond and made my stay excellent from start to finish. The leisure facilities were really good and it was a bonus having a Starbucks on site.

Review 112:Returning to our room late in the evening the toilet didn't flush effectively. We had an early start so didn't mention it till check out . The only comment was "Oh sorry about that" we should have reported it even if it was one o'clock in the morning but sleep was a priority. Solution for anyone in similar postion is fill the metal waste bin with cold water and pour in loo. clears problem! Mixer tap in sink and shower still allow burst of hot water, careful if you have young children.

Review 113:Pleasant staff. Room fine. Bar area fine. Parking good. Taxi to and from hotel into Maidstone between £6-7 prompt and offered good advice on where to eat.

Review 114:Unfortunately the room fan wasn't working and the heat became uncomfortable over night. The upstairs corridors and rooms were very warm and could have done with a bit of air conditioning.

Review 115:Comfortable and welcoming. Excellent value for money. Would highly recommend for the excellent friendly staff alone.

Review 116:the staff very helpful and friendly. great value for the money we paid. bed was comfortable and the room was clean. the breakfast was 5* it was ideal location as we were visiting relatives in Maidstone. would stay here again.

Review 117:There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms which became unbearable during the night due to the elevated temperature. Room could do with a little TLC

Review 118:The bed was exceptionally comfortable. Dinner was delicious. Breakfast was amazing.

Review 119:The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The food was good value and excellent quality, especially the breakfasts. We were also very impressed with the facilities, the position of the hotel and the leisure centre

Review 120:Their opening times for breakfast and the swimming pool could be improved. Breakfast started at 7.30am and 8am on Saturdays and Sundays, a little late if you need to get into work or have other arrangements. The swimming pool also closes at 7.45pm on the weekends.

Review 121:Excellent breakfasts and friendly staff

Review 122:The room was really hot a lot of the time and after showering made the room even hotter could of done with air-con, wifi wasn't all that at times, Bose docking station didn't work that great could of done with a place for an Aux cable on it so could connect other phones etc to it, sounds like a lot but was still a nice weekend and would Defo go again and ask for a fan for the room haha.

Review 123:Clean room, pool (could be abit bigger) sauna and steam rooms, Comfey bed

Review 124:£1 surcharge for a paper is not in keeping with a company of your stature, you should cease this.

Review 125:all ok except >>>>>>>>>>

Review 126:The fact that the television only had BBC1, ITV1, Channel 4, Channel 5 and then Sky sport

Review 127:Food in the restaurant was excellent. Enjoyed the spa. Staff were very helpful.

Review 128:The bar as the prices were not over inflated for a captive audience. The breakfast selection was wide and varied. The staff were excellent and very helpful.

Review 129:Check In very slow 25 minutes,Staff in need of training.Clients booking via Booking.com are treated as second class citizens.Allocated a room 102 but this was changed to 153 which was a Disabled room which was not necessary or suitable.

Review 130:Bar and restaurant staff where very good.

Review 131:Very GLOOMY DARK ROOM.

Review 132:The staff, were great! The room was very clean, though the whole ambience of the room was gloomy. Whilst our son and his young family were put in a family room that was a smokers room, it stunk!!!!! His room was very tatty.
