Reviews for Hôtel St Pierre

Review 1:Dismal dark room - poor lighting - very small. Bed uncomfortable. Bar area small - overall facility - poor. Car parking availability 'hit & miss' - we were lucky - the many birds on the church - 5 metres across the alleyway were very accurate in hitting our car - what a mess

Review 2:Friendly helpful guy on reception gave good advice re evening meal

Review 3:Fantastic service and location, tastefully decorated and comfortable room, wonderful breakfast and excellent hosts. Mum & I thoroughly enjoyed every minute and would highly recommend to anyone. Made us feel extremely welcome including our two Rough Collies. Would also be of interest to whisky lovers as a large variety available for connoisseurs. Would love to revisit anytime. Parking a bonus but also available nearby and an array of restaurants plus a short walk to restaurants, the river and all the main sights. Great for touring also. Thank you

Review 4:Leaving

Review 5:Fantastic location, our bedroom was immaculately decorated. Regis was the perfect host & owner - helpful, pleasant & informative. If you're debating choosing this hotel, book it you won't be disappointed .

Review 6:Bed very uncomfortable

Review 7:Fantastic location in the heart of Saumur, right beside square full of fabulous restaurants and only down the hill from the Saumur Chateau

Review 8:Room was very poor. We expected to pay £110, instead it was more like £130. Parking was not what we expected. In short, a poor selection on our behalf.

Review 9:Not a lot really.

Review 10:That we could not stay longer !

Review 11:The warm, friendly and personalized attention of our host - Régis. Thehotel is a little gem tucked away in the old city and a quick walk tothe center of town. As a former hotel owner myself, I was very veryimpressed with the decor and comfort or our room. The fine taste andingenuous use of space made a rather small space a cozy nest that was atrue pleasure to come back too ! Can not wait to go back !

Review 12:The room was a little dark but I think this was probably specific to the position of our room.

Review 13:The hotel is very central and the owner and his father are very friendly. Our room was a good size and clean.

Review 14:We enjoyed everything about our stay here. Our room was superbly decorated and very comfortable with coffee making facilities, minibar and air con - a real haven of calm after a busy day sightseeing. The hotel is well situated for the bars and restaurants and the centre of Saumur. The family running the hotel made us feel very welcome and were extremely pleasant and helpful. And the breakfasts..... the ancient kings of the chateau would have breakfasted well at the St Pierre - they were excellent.

Review 15:A very charming hotel arranged with taste, brilliant attention to detail, with a warm welcome and very helpful. We would recommend Hotel Saint Pierre to everyone.

Review 16:Lacked a little atmosphere. Car parking was a pain.

Review 17:Manager/owner very helpful and friendly. Nice comfortable room. Great central location but still peaceful. Nice breakfast.

Review 18:It's €20 more expensive than others of a similar standard that we stayed in during our Loire valley tour. It's a very nice hotel and I can't find any fault with it at all, it's just that little bit more expensive than others. My view is it's 10% better than others but 30% or more more expensive

Review 19:It's a very nice hotel, beautifully decorated with a comfortable bed. Wi-fi strength is good and help with local attractions and restaurants is reliable. Good location, although parking is limited.

Review 20:The hotel is really close to all the cafes and bars and extremely comfortable. The service in the hotel is really good and we were given new ideas about what to visit.

Review 21:I liked everything and would definitely return to this lovely hotel with its helpful hosts.

Review 22:Well-located hotel near town centre. I loved the traditional French decor and the breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented.

Review 23:The staff were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and the room and rest of the hotel were recently updated and spotless. A complete joy right in the centre of Saumur

Review 24:The wifi was not really functional at times. They use a login system that constantly asks you to re-login and the re-logins often don't work.

Review 25:The location and comfort of the rooms.

Review 26:Air con didn't work well at all in room 25 and we couldn't leave the windows open because of the outside noise

Review 27:Great location to the Saturday market

Review 28:Nothing was too much trouble for this family run hotel and their team. Good sightseeing, restaurant and wine advice and bookings if requested. Breakfast was lovely, all served to your table.

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:The staff were great - Regis greeted us warmly on arrival and was very helpful. The room was spotless and comfortable with lots of character. The breakfast was fantastic - everything was the very highest quality. The location was great in the old town - quiet, but close to restaurants. Wifi was free and easy to connect to.

Review 31:Nothing much other than our bathroom made rather small.

Review 32:The decor of communal rooms and hotel room very tasteful, free parking and great location. Bed very comfortable.Excellent breakfast if a little expensive

Review 33:The hotel, although beautifully appointed, was a bit soulless. There is no restaurant which was a bit of a surprise given the price bracket it is in and the room had no view from the room whatsoever which was a real disappointment. Although there were tea and coffee making facilities there was no milk or creamer which was only discovered on trying to make a cup of tea in the morning . Finally, and although the room was expensively and tastefully furnished the towels provided were both small and threadbare which was out of keeping with an 'upmarket' boutique hotel.

Review 34:The position of the hotel was good being central to Saumur with parking.

Review 35:parking can be tricky, but the host is willing and very able to do the honours, so no worries

Review 36:central location brilliant breakfast, very stylish and comfortable. Welcoming and helpful staff

Review 37:No onsite parking so cars are valet parked. As it happened, ours did remain parked just outside reception but we had not realised it could be off-site.

Review 38:Nice welcome & individual, quirky rooms. The quietest hotel lift I have ever been in!

Review 39:Nothing.

Review 40:Every thing about this Hotel is excellent. The family run hotel is beautifully designed and warm and friendly. This was our first visit and I hope will not be our last. A memorable hotel for all the right reasons.

Review 41:Loved meeting the owner and his wife who took great care to see that we were well taken care of. Wonderful small hotel steps from the square. Dynamite breakfast. Would like to stay there again.

Review 42:Nothing not to like.

Review 43:This is an old hotel in the heart of Saumur but it has all the comfortsand facilities you would expect in modern hotel. The locationcouldn't be handier for the sights and the shops. The breakfasts aresuperb and set you up for a busy day sightseeing.

Review 44:I was sorry that we had to leave-the place and Refis and Brigitte were so very wonderful!

Review 45:The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel was perfectly located and it was a perfect stay!

Review 46:The hotel is in a great location in the old town, with convenient access to restaurants, riverfront and castle. The breakfast was a real highlight to our stay, which we'd recommend to others!

Review 47:Very beautiful - good location to explore the town on foot - hotelier was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very tastefully furnished and decorated and totally in keeping with the character of the building. Very good breakfast. made an excellent stopover for our journey to Cognac. Would visit again.

Review 48:Met at the door my the owner and showed where to park the car and brought in my bags. Very helpful person, stayed for two days on our way to south west. So handy to the centre of the city.... Very enjoyable stay thank you

Review 49:We didnt get any sleep because the foam mattress and fur under sheet made bed much too hot!

Review 50:Great Location Tea and Coffee Making Facilities in the Room Great Shower Great Staff (owner) Fantastic Breakfast served at your table, (best Breakfast we had out of 6 Hotels we stayed in!)

Review 51:Room was a little small but very comfortable and clean

Review 52:Ambience, breakfast was excellent Great location and parking available. Plenty of good restaurants within easy walk. Sits in the shadow of the Chateau de Saumur so excellent for visiting there. Staff very friendly and helpfull

Review 54:Nothing at all, one of my best hotel stays in years

Review 55:Small hotel with personal service, individual rooms with great character. Lovely helpful proprietors.

Review 56:absolutely nothing

Review 57:This was a delight from the moment the owner met us outside on arrival till the minute we left. Beautifully decorated, fabulous breakfast, fantastic staff. Dream hotel in France, we will definitely return

Review 58:We didn't stay long enough!

Review 59:Delightful hotel with character rooms. Family owned and charming hosts. Very close to the square, to the river, chateau and shops. We just loved our stay. I don't recall a a better value breakfast, and in such a lovely environment. Over three days we went to 5 or 6 venues in the Loire valley, and could easily have done more. Recommend Villandry. Hiring a Europcar, we picked it up from the Ibis hotel across the road from the Saumur train station. The car might have been cheaper if we had collected it from a Europcar centre? At Tours? Recommend the drive along the Loire river, either side.

Review 60:Not the hotel's fault but the church of St Pierre just across a narrow alley way is being renovated; spoils view and work starts at 9.

Review 61:Excellent standard of furnishings, comfortable bed and well equipped bathroom. Did not have breakfast but it looked good and attractive downstairs rooms.

Review 62:The location of this hotel is fantastic, 200 yards or so from Saumur's best restaurants and the market square. The owners of the hotel couldn't have been more welcoming and the overall cleanliness / facilities of the hotel are excellent. A beautiful garden is also a key feature. Will certainly visit again next time we're in Saumur!

Review 63:Beautiful property, friendly proprietors. Our room was gorgeous and well appointed. The garden and breakfast room are lovely. Only a block to the town square where there were excellent restaurants to chose from. A wonderful experience.

Review 64:Charming family run hotel in the middle of a lovely old town of Saumur but still near the beautiful countryside. Bicycles to hire and good tips from the friendly owner about things worth if seeing. Nice interior design at the hotel and very good cleaning. If you prefer French style breakfast, you can have a delicious croissant & Café au lait for small fee. Good wifi and tv, nice small extras in the bathroom, quiet good night sleep. Lots of things to see and experience in the town and surroundings. Great place to have a holiday!

Review 65:Hotel came highly recommended by a colleague who had stayed there, and it more than met her recommendation. Staff is great, rooms are comfortable and quiet, location is excellent, and if you don't want to pay for petit dejeuner, which is high, we found a great award-winning boulangerie nearby (Gouzy Sophie, 5 rue St Jean)
