Review 12:Lovely large country house within its own grounds very private. Sally was very welcoming & very helpful & looked after us really well. Run by a lovely family we will visit & stay again on our next visit to the Scottish boarders. Great breakfast with plenty of choice, sets you up for the day even tried the Haggis & loved it.Thanks to Sally & her family for a great stay.

Review 13:Lovely property, comfortable, quiet and a great Scottish breakfast. We liked the dog!! Sally looked after us really well. Wish we could have stayed longer but were cycling from Lands end to John'Ogroats.

Review 14:The only thing was that it we got a little lost finding it however we rang ahead and Sally gave us verbal directions!

Review 15:What a beautiful guesthouse in stunning location. The host Sally could not have been more helpful! I had a bit of a last minute disaster with travel arrangements and she was more than accommodating to make my stay as welcoming as possible. I was attending a wedding nearby and I was put in touch with an excellent taxi service which was extremely helpful. Furthermore the breakfast menu was exceptional with local produce being used and the breakfast room looked out onto the gardens and the room itself was huge end filled with lots of natural light. A very friendly stay all round! I would definitely recommend.

Review 16:A minor comment :..the area each side of the entrance driveway would benefit from a tidy up. This doesn't at all affect the quality of the b&b but gives a (falsely) bad impression as you enter the property.

Review 17:A very comfortable bed.

Review 18:The hostess and her children ( and Charlie, the dog) were great fun. Large and comfortable bedroom with a good sized bathroom. Lovely view over the valley, Rural setting.

Review 19:Terrific welcome from Sally, fine spacious rooms and superb breakfast. Quiet with glorious views. We very much look forward to returning. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Review 20:Minor moan: a socket by the table so that guests could plug the kettle in without having to put it on the floor would be a good idea.

Review 21:We had a very warm welcome and the room was huge, with lovely views out of the window. The ensuite shower room was equally spacious, as was the bed, which was a very comfortable super-king. Breakfast was ample and cooked to order by hostess Sally. A really lovely place to stay over on the way north (or south for that matter!).

Review 22:Sally is a warm and welcoming host and her guest house reflects her personality. The views are beautiful and the local people are very friendly. The breakfast was superb. We will definitely stay again.

Review 23:We had a friendly welcome from the lady of the house and taken to a quiet, comfortable, spacious room with excellent views. There was a good choice of breakfasts and we would happily visit this guest house again.

Review 24:As the weather was very poor and the drive is fairly steep, I was afraid to drive out to find an evening meal for fear of not being able to return in the snow. There is nowhere to eat within walking distance though possibly you could do that in the summer as the village is only a mile or so away.

Review 25:Marchwood Guest House is very comfortable and warm. It was snowing while I was there but it was very cosy inside. The hosts were charming and breakfast was very nice.

Review 26:a couple of miles from the motorway you are in a different world. Lovely big house in extensive grounds. large warm rooms with super king comfy bed. nothing too much trouble, friendly hosts, good cooed breakfast

Review 27:We didn't realise there was no bar or other meals available other than breakfast or we wouldn't of booked this hotel. It's not what you would expect after a long drive to the property?!

Review 28:Only one, very minor complaint. At times the young dog was a minor nuisance, but most of the time he was fine.

Review 29:Remote quiet country location but still close enough to main trunk roads. Nice big rooms. Wonderful views across the valley. Good breakfast.

Review 30:The only thing I did not like was the fact we could not stay longer!

Review 31:The warm welcome we received by our hostess coming into the car park to welcome us.

Review 32:The fact we had to leave after only one night!

Review 44:A delightful B&B, tucked away in the beautiful rolling hills outside of Beattock, Marchbankwood House is easily accessible from the main road yet still peaceful and secluded. Our host were friendly and accommodating. Even the dog greeted us warmly and entertained us with a game of "fetch". We really enjoyed our one night stay at this B&B. Room was extremely comfortable, spacious and clean, en-suite facilities were also good. We stayed in a lovely large room at the top of the stairs, bed was very comfortable and free WiFi was available.
