Reviews for Townstal Farmhouse

Review 1:Stayed here on my own for a friend's passing out from the Naval College. Absolutely perfect location, good single room with en-suite and breakfast really tasty. Also really great that they served breakfast earlier than usual for a couple of days so that there was time to eat before having to be at the college.

Review 2:Friendly welcoming staff, good breakfast and service. Cosy lounge area and the building was quirky and historically interesting. Only 10 minute walk in to town.

Review 3:Nothing!

Review 4:We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and the owners were lovely. Our room was spotlessly clean and the beds were really comfy. Breakfasts were good too and the location of the B&B was perfect for our trip. We definitely plan to stay again on our next trip to Devon.

Review 5:Our room at the back was rather dark and claustrophobic and I wouldn't stay in that room again, and if you are a light sleeper the humming of various appliances would keep you awake

Review 6:The overall accommodation and the breakfasts were excellent and the hosts couldn't have been more helpful

Review 7:Very welcoming - nice little touches like fresh milk available in fridge along corridor. Comfortable bed - tasty breakfast. Not sure about the licenced bar - couldn';nt find it!!

Review 8:Front rooms can be a bit noisy when need to keep window open at night.

Review 9:Really friendly welcome made us feel at home. Good tips given on getting around the town. Room and en-suite spacious and comfortable.

Review 10:Friendly staff who were very helpful the room and bathroom were lovely it had been refurbished and was kept very clean also beds were very comfortable . The breakfast was served up quickly and there was plenty to choose from .

Review 11:Not a dislike but it can be quite a trek uphill from town, although a taxi or bus doesn't cost much to return.

Review 12:Excellent hosts and great breakfast, ideal for our quick one day break.

Review 13:Couldn't find a wi-fi password Although booking.com said money would be taken 7 days before, we had to pay on departure with a 2% charge on credit cards - not mentioned online!

Review 14:Location Easy to find Good selection of breakfast food Traditional feel

Review 15:Interior outdated, bed was too soft and wobbly, only 2 sachets of normal and 2 of decaf coffee in the room. Only 2 small bars of soap and 2 little sachets of hair shampoo. Too many breakfast items microwaved. Sausages of cheap quality. No self service for cereals, fruits, juice, yoghurt etc. Having to ask for more feels like begging. Not worth the £95, £70 would be more of an adequate price.

Review 16:The only thing to like was the location and the friendly male host.

Review 17:Clean room & comfortable bed. Great breakfast & friendly staff & owners. Free parking a plus. Easy walk down to Dartmouth & recommend taking a bus or taxi back as it is a bit of a climb. Would stay here again.

Review 18:If you like walking then its perfect as its 0.6 of a mile down a bank into Dartmouth itself and walking it back up will certainly give you a good workout. I recommend getting a taxi back up to the Townstal.

Review 19:Lovely room 8, if a bit small but the bathroom was brand new and lovely, did the job perfect for me as I was out most of the day for my 2 day stay. Great price and lovely breakfast.

Review 20:My single room was very small. The location is a fair way from town down a very steep hill. There is very little parking in town

Review 21:A very good breakfast.

Review 22:Slightly tired decor. Squashy mattress. Linen and bedding not very good quality. Too much of the breakfast had been micro-waved.

Review 23:Easy to find. Good wifi.

Review 24:Proprietor was very friendly, gave us lots of information about the local area , Room was very clean and comfortable, with an excellent breakfast to start the day .

Review 25:Very handy to have a car park in Dartmouth and only a short walk into town. Stayed in room 1 which was lovely, lots of space and very comfortable bed. Nice having a fridge. Really enjoyed our stay here and would certainly return

Review 26:Single room originally booked was too small and dark for anything. Larger room (at a larger price) was much better. Time to move on from blankets to duvets!

Review 27:Free parking Free Wi-Fi Good breakfast Downstairs sitting room (though not used)

Review 28:Nothing to complain about. It's a bit too far from the town centre if you want to walk, and the single room is small if you have a lot of luggage; but that's part of the deal really.

Review 29:It was all made very easy. And an interesting house with character.

Review 30:Booked breakfast at 0930, was downstairs granted at 0933 so three mins late. Told I couldn't have breakfast as the owner had to go out at 10 (Perhaps if you charge £50+ a night you should expect to deliver the service you're charging for??) seemed only interested in taking my money! Single was small even for a single. Although good value for the area, a top location isn't an excuse for poor service. Wish I'd bothered to argue for a discount!

Review 31:Beautiful house, clean. All basic amenities, bathroom was nice!

Review 32:All good not a criticism to make.

Review 33:I had the chance to make contact personally with the Townstel Farmhouse before my arrival. This was a great help after a very long drive. The room was lovely, comfortable and clean. The full English breakfast on the day I Ieft set me up for the day ahead - wonderful.

Review 34:The steep walk up from the town, however the property was on a frequently-op bus route and the bus stop was right next door.

Review 35:Very well run and managed. Ideal for town and also touring around.

Review 36:Walk back up the hill - keeps you fit though

Review 37:Location-easy walking distance to Dartmouth quay. Plenty of parking. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Bed comfy, but very very soft.

Review 38:Nothing not to like.

Review 39:This was excellent Exactly what we ordered, hot and very good ingredients, set us up for the day! The staff were very helpful and pleasent.

Review 40:Lovely couple, very accommodating, we were even able to have breakfast before our early course start time, which those staying elsewhere in Dartmouth struggled with. The room itself was very comfortable, absolutely no issues with my stay, always a friendly place in a beautiful location.

Review 41:I made the booking to include my dog and booked a delux room. The room we had was clean but very basic, no shower gel or extra comforts.

Review 42:Breakfast was fabulous. Bed very comfortable and location very quiet at night.

Review 43:On settling our bill, we were advised that a 2% would be levied on our Credit Card which we did not anticipate or agree. The proprietor agreed to waive the charge.

Review 44:Friendly atmosphere, very good breakfast, extremely comfortable beds. Host and hostess very helpful and hospitable. Good lounge for playing games hwen wet.

Review 45:We stayed in Room 18 as it is one of the rooms where dogs are allowed. The room did have a strong smell of "dog" in it when we entered, not that our minature schnauzer minded! Having a berber type carpet in the room probably helps in retaining lingering smells.

Review 46:Location, parking, large room (we had a double that also had a single bed). Pleasant home cooked breakfast.

Review 47:Rather scary macerating toilet with a life of its own!

Review 48:Pleasant room good breakfast free parking . Out of town near Dartmouth College but with handy bus stop. Friendly helpful hostess.

Review 49:Young staff at breakfast were not as friendly and maybe needed a bit of training on table service but it didn't spoil our stay

Review 50:Very cosy friendly owners made us feel comfortable In a great location 10 min walk down into town is lovely had to catch the bus back up the steep hill though !! Lovely breakfast and nothing too much trouble

Review 51:Nothing not to like

Review 52:Lovely stay comfortable bed with clean room everything you need. Ideal location just a short cab ride to town costing approx £3.50 .

Review 53:Our stay was to short, wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 54:Lovely welcome, great accommodation and breakfast ,really friendly hosts that couldn't do enough for you.

Review 55:Outdated decor, up a huge hill from the village, paper thin walls, our window was right above where the staff went for their breaks so could hear all of their conversations

Review 56:It was comfy enough, staff were friendly and offered a good breakfast

Review 57:Can't think of any negatives

Review 58:Disabled access with accessible shower room, works for me. Very comfortable beds. Also served breakfast to our room to save us struggling to the dining room

Review 59:The walk back up the hill from dartmouth after a few pints. :)

Review 60:Room was spacious and comfortable The shower was great. Good sized TV in the room. Great breakfast to start the day off. The owners where really welcoming and the the staff also very friendly.

Review 61:Spacious family room. Not over luxurious, but clean, with decent furniture, good beds and a nice bathroom with shower. Excellent breakfast with very personal and friendly service. 10 min walk to town center (downhill, and 15 min back uphill). Excellent value for money!

Review 62:They didn't show us to our room and when we opened the door we found the twin room we were staying in was very dated (80s bedspreads, curtains etc) with a very basic, old disabled washroom, making the room uninviting and not great for relaxing in. To add to that the carpet was old, dank and musty smelling. Much in need of redecorating! They didn't served filter coffee for breakfast (just instant), which was a surprise considering everywhere does filter coffee. So all in all not value for money.

Review 63:The staff were friendly. The outside of the building was beautiful, making it a picturesque location. And could walk down in to the town in 10 mins. A large flat screen TV was appreciated but the aerial connection was bad so we couldn't make the most of the TV.

Review 64:I stayed here for two nights with my little boy and couldn't have asked for anymore. It was gorgeous. Friendly owners, beautiful rooms, lovely breakfast and great location. And they were brilliant with my little boy :)

Review 65:No wifi in rooms.
