Reviews for Maelgwyn House

Review 1:Fabulous really enjoyed our stay. We have stayed in a lot of places in north Wales and our stay here was by far the best and most enjoyable. Will definitely be going again.

Review 2:Nice pleasant atmosphere and excellent views from the front rooms. Very quite at night for an excellent nights sleep. Only a short walk to Harlech and a excellent restaurant.

Review 3:Nothing bad about the trip but just for others travelling, our Sat Nav took us to the back garden, you need to walk/ drive around to the main road, that is the entrance.

Review 4:The house is beautiful, in a wonderful sea side location. The owners of the house were very friendly.

Review 5:Nothing!

Review 6:Excellent B & B overlooking castle and sea. Spotless, comfy room. Delicious breakfasts. Hosts Derek and Bridgette extremely friendly and helpful. Love the paintings and décor. Would definitely recommend this B & B to others.

Review 7:Ideal location with a beautiful view over Harlech, the golf course and the sea. Bridget made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived and spent time telling us all about the local area. Breakfast was a highlight, with Derek also spending time telling us more about the area. Perfect stay!

Review 8:Nothing.

Review 11:Owners very friendly, welcoming and very familiar with location - could suggest places to visit and best places to eat in the village. Breakfast was exceptional. Views of ocean were amazing. Clean, tidy and very homely.

Review 12:Location excellent with superb views. A beautiful property and very charming hosts. Room was very clean and well appointed. A very extensive and delicious breakfast also provided

Review 13:toiletries replenished every day as were tea/coffee/ milk (plenty of cartons) plus biscs daily- owners very friendly but not "in your face".

Review 14:Bridget and Derek made us feel so welcome and the house was so perfectly situated. We had a wonderful view from our comfortable bedroom and the attention to detail down to the wedgwood crockery was remarkable. Breakfasts were superb.

Review 15:Very friendly owners, a beautiful view from our window to the sea and Harlech castle, a gorgeous room, a delicious breakfast, good conversation during the breakfast........

Review 16:Feather pillows far too warm as were the rooms. The room on the second floor, with the house roof slanting over the bed was difficult to avoid when getting in and out of the bed.

Review 17:Lovely friendly owners. Very clean.

Review 18:Nothing with regards to the B&B. It's a shame they didn't have a couple more pubs in the village although the Plas restaurant was very good with stunning views from the garden and was reasonably priced.

Review 19:What a great b&b. The location was superb with outstanding views of the castle and beach from the bay window in our room.Wifi was very good. Tv appeared to have a lot of channels from the info booklet but we never switched it on as you didn't need to.Great cooked breakfast chosen at a time of your convenience. Comfortable bed. Very clean b&b which was full of character. Best of all though are the hosts who are very welcoming and informative. Really enjoyed our stay.

Review 20:Limited parking area proved difficult and whilst the ensuite was well equipped it was a little 'tight' in room 2, other rooms could well be different.

Review 21:Very welcoming attitude.

Review 22:The location is nice with perfect view of the coast and mountains but it was a bit difficult to find on the navigator system. But the people there are very friendly, so no problem to get there even you are a bit lost!

Review 23:Very beautifully decorated bnb. Very friendly owner. Great Welsh's breakfadt. Amazing surrounding. Feel like home!

Review 24:Absolutely nothing!

Review 25:The guest room had gorgeous, top quality linens and also a towel warming rack that was on! Breakfast was served on Wedgewood china, beautiful! The meal was exceptional, and even included their signature breakfast meal. Paintings adorned all the walls, painted by the host. The view from our window was amazing!

Review 27:nothing !!

Review 28:Décor, Breakfast, The view, Free WiFi, Power Shower, TV and DVD in bedroom, comfy bed, expensive detailed presentation in rooms + Tea and biscuits in the room, guests sitting room and more books than you could ever read about Wales

Review 30:Nothing, only the steep walk back up the hill after having a meal & drink in pub on botten level near the golf course!

Review 31:Friendly informative hosts, great quality breakfasts, wonderful views Lovely paintings by Derek, & quality furnishings in room.

Review 32:From the moment we arrived until we left we felt incredibly welcome. The view from the room on the top floor was amazing and the sunsets over the bay were gorgeous!

Review 33:Great location and paying extra for the sea view rooms was well worth it. Interesting art works adorning the rooms Very comfortable and clean and a great selection/quality of breakfast items

Review 34:Only fault was the iron bedstead is uncomfortable when sitting in bed watching TV.

Review 35:The house is absolutely beautiful, full of charm and character, lovely rooms, delicious breakfast, hosts very warm and welcoming.

Review 36:Bridget & Derek are wonderful hosts, so friendly, welcoming & helpful. Our room was lovely, & we had amazing views of Harlech Beach, Castle & mountains in the distance. They have a wonderful art collection too!

Review 37:What a fabulous B&B this is - everything was perfect, the warm welcome, the beautifully furnished bedroom which was immaculately clean, the stunning view and one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in with squashy feather pillows and a goose down duvet - absolute perfection!

Review 38:Could have slightly nicer veggie sausages (although perfectly cooked local eggs made up for this, and I appreciate that this is trickier in a more rural location). I still ate them, so this is a very minor niggle!

Review 39:Spectacular views in a lovely location. Efficient and friendly hosts - they know what they are doing and what guests want. Great breakfast (delicious yoghurt, eggs and fruit). Extra touches that made the slightly higher price-tag than we normally pay worth it e.g. reading chairs in room, common room, DVD collection, particularly good art collection (not normally my thing - but better than most local galleries!). (N.b. can't comment on wi-fi).

Review 40:Nothing to say

The view from the room was amazing, the breakfast was one of the best I've had in ages and they give the best advice on what to do and where to go in the area. Review 49:Nothing

Review 50:Everything! The hosts Brigitte and Derek looked after us superbly . The breakfasts were so good = some chefs could learn from them. We will certainly be returning.

Review 51:Nothing!...The entry to the drive is a little difficult, around a blind corner, but the town is as slow paced as it can get....just right!

Review 52:From helping us with directions on the phone to greeting us up the drive, this couple knows how to make their guests very welcomed. This house a beauty, inside and out! We even took pictures of the grounds, views of the castle and golf course (below), and the amazing display for our breakfast. Thank you again for your hospitality!

Review 53:There was nothing we did not like !

Review 54:We liked everything about Maelgwyn ! The owners were very friendly and could not have done more to make us feel at home. The room we stayed in had a fabulous view. The room was very clean with fresh towels every day of our stay. The breakfast was superb ! WiFi available. The location is also very convenient for many places in N Wales and there are very good restaurants in Harlech. We would recommend it most strongly to anyone who wishes to stay in the N Wales area.

Review 55:Bridget and Derek made our stay incredible. They were welcoming us from the moment we arrived and looked after us the whole stay. From making dinner reservations, suggesting places to visit and sharing the odd joke. The accommodation itself is very cosy and felt like a home. We could use the living room, choose from hundreds of books and movies as well as travel guides. The breakfast was fresh, had something for everyone and was delicious. We're looking forward to visiting again soon. Thanks for making our stay so great! Eva (M. Schumacher) & Annika

Review 63:They were quite helpful and knowledgeable about the area. They had great tips on the local restaurants, and, if they are reading, the pub/restaurant at the bottom of the hill was fine in the restaurant part -- and gluten free!

Review 68:Bathroom was a little small but adequate and shower was superb.

Review 69:Friendly hospitable hosts, great view from room, a great breakfast choice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, homemade compote and fantastic cooked breakfast. Room was spotlesslessly clean. Eclectic mix of decor including Derek's paintings made the ambience welcoming. Would definitely recommend this B & B . Keep up the great work Bridget and Derek! great location for a relaxing weekend.

Review 70:The road to arrive (a very narrow country road with a series of gates to open and close): but it was a fault of my TomTom One. Check very well the proposed road.

Review 71:Hosts, location, room, breakfast.....

Review 72:One tiny, tiny aspect (but we did ask for a room with a view) the room was a little small for us especially with the slopping ceiling. However we will most defiantly look to staying again in the future.

Review 73:Parking facility, hosts very professional and friendly, décor with fantastic art work, room's views, bed firm! location, the garden, very, very clean, food - everything!

Review 74:The hotel was fantastic. Staff where extremely friendly and helpful, rooms cosy and clean. The breakfast was great. I would definitely recommend this place

Review 75:The attention to detail, something as simple as lovely soft towels in the bathroom, means you know straight away the owners have really thought about how to make theirs guests as comfortable as possible. Added to the delicious breakfast and knowledgeable and very convivial hosts, we've already decided we'd like to return one day. It was great fun. Thanks! Phil & Ruth.
