Reviews for Le National

Review 1:Reception is closed between 1 and 5 p.m., which was not communicated in booking.com

Review 2:Nice simple hotel near the train station. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 3:Bed was low and very hard. Shower room had mildew due to lack of ventilaton

Review 4:Very friendly service, excellent breakfast & great location.Rooms clean

Review 5:Dirty carpet which gave a poor first impression as the hotel was spotlessly clean otherwise.

Review 6:Very pleasant patron. Location was just five minute walk from the train station and a nice stroll to the centre of town. Bed and bedding very comfortable. Very quiet.

Review 7:I wish there were a hot kettle or coffee maker in the room, but not a deal breaker

Review 8:Conveniently close to the train station in a small street away from traffic noise. The front staff was friendly and helpful

Review 9:We had a great experience, it was slightly further to the beach than was ideal but buses were nearby, very reasonable and frequent.

Review 10:The air conditioning was great in the 39 degrees heat. The shutters kept the room dark and cool, it was a very quiet location for a town centre hotel. Brilliant wifi connection.

Review 11:the wifi signal is weak for the room on the 1st floor ,you need to say at the lobby to access internet.. or standing in the front of your room...

Review 12:the room equipped air conditioner

Review 13:There were a few minor maintenance problems: some missing plaster and the air conditioning dripped water onto the carpet outside the neighbouring room.

Review 14:The hotel is clean and friendly. The manager was very helpful and accommodated our bikes. The hotel is a little way from the centre, near the railway station.

Review 15:Shower curtain - the shower was small and the curtain came too close.

Review 16:The closeness to the station and the town. Friendly and helpful host. Good rooms and a lift.

Review 17:Location is perfect with respect to the train station but is somewhat removed from the main area of restaurants and other local sites (though not very far removed).

Review 18:He spoke perfect English, but also tried to help me with my French. Also, the proprietor referred us to an excellent restaurant, which was not easy given the fact that a lot of them were closed for the winter....

Review 19:The bathroom wall does not fully reach the ceiling in one corner. Not really a problem, but a bit odd.

Review 20:The Hotel is 2 Star and full of character. The location is good and an easy 10-15 minutes walk to the town centre. Also it is very close to the Rail station for quick access to Montpellier.(20 minutes) Very helpful host. Good restaurants nearby and Sete town has many to choose from. Recommended Hotel with a homely feel and good transport links.

Review 21:If we could have located and murdered all the mosquitos dans la chambre before they murdered us, that would have made this stay simply perfect

Review 22:Le National was a lovely, welcoming hotel. A terrific breakfast spread (all those boites) and so many individuating touches throughout the hotel.

Review 23:The wifi wouldn't work on our floor, only on the ground and first floor. Parking around the hotel is difficult, and please be aware not to park on the main street overnight on a Thursday evening, because when you return on a Friday morning a market will have appeared and your car will have gone; towed away! There are signs but they are sporadically placed. Not that this is the hotel's fault of course.

Review 24:The hotel is very well situated with a twenty minute walk into the centre of town and the fish restsurants. The room was basic, but clean with large beds and reasonably spacious. I would certainly stay again and the hotel represents good value. We took breakfast outside so cannot comment on that aspect. Staff were perfectly friendly.

Review 25:Wifi connection very poor in room, would probably have been much better in reception area, but didn't try it there.

Review 26:Very spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortably furnished hotel, roomy sitting area in reception, a lot of character, a very helpful owner, roomy bedroom and bathroom, lift, big bookcase in reception with some English books to borrow, just round corner from quite elegant cafe, free public parking 50 metres away, interesting market, wide peaceful canals with plenty of little bars fora quiet drink looking over the water. Interesting bus journey from Sete to Montpellier, which is a lovely and elegant city, (quicker by train, but dearer)

Review 27:The reception was not open all day long.

Review 28:The hotel is very near the train station which was very practical, besides the bus station to the town and back is just across the street. Clean and quiet room.

Review 29:Nothing except the lack of parking, but there is a large free parking area about 200 metres away.

Review 30:Friendly welcome, clean, interesting décor, good breakfast.

Review 31:Breakfast was a rather simple affair, not very much fresh food.

Review 32:The owner was very friendly and speaks English. He gave me a map and pointed out all important places.

Review 33:A few neds/chavs/bams/pikeys etc sometimes hanging about locally. Only occasionally.

Review 34:Price was reasonable. Location good. Beds comfortable. Hotelier (and dog 'enjoy') were great. Restaurants in area also not bad. Lovely little town. Great hotel for Worldwide!

Review 35:Leaving

Review 36:Great location close to the station but also a nice walk into town where there are lots of bars and restaurants. It was very hot during our stay so the air-con was a real bonus. Room big enough for two and we had lovely French windows looking on to the theatre. Looking forward to going back next year.

Review 37:Great location, clean and comfortable room, very friendly and helpful staff. Large reception. Close to train station.Very interesting city, lots to see, great beaches.

Review 38:Bed was a bit short.

Review 39:Very friendly staff. Homey. Nice overall. Breakeast was also good value.

Review 40:frendly staff

Review 41:Welcoming staff. Pleasant room. Very convenient location for railway station. Excellent breakfast. Very good value.

Review 42:Everything was eczellent

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:Location and helpful staff

Review 45:Quiet location but a short stroll to a wide choice of restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff Air conditioned rooms

Review 46:We enjoyed the cleanliness of the room and the recent updates. Great location to train station in quiet part of town. Owner was excellent.

Review 47:Our eighth visit. Enough said.

Review 48:Nice welcome, short walk from station and centre ville

Review 49:no gluten free bread. did have cereal.

Review 50:the welcome

Review 51:Friendly helpful staff. Not a modern hotel but kept very clean and good location

Review 52:Very clean. Close to the station.

Review 53:Flexible and very kind staff, helping us out whenever we had a question or issue.

Review 54:No complaints.

Review 55:Wi-Fi was speedy. The manager/owner was very helpful and friendly. And he spoke fine English.

Review 56:Wi-Fi didn't work inside room on 3rd floor.

Review 57:Friendly and attentive staff, twin rooms have 2 large (queen-size) beds per person.

Review 58:Nothing, can't really fault

Review 59:Extra large bathroom with wet room!

Review 60:room size

Review 61:Location

Review 62:The poor WiFi reception

Review 63:Everything

Review 64:Wifi awful, if that's what you need!

Review 65:Overall, a decent place to stay for the value. Very laid back with no real frills.

Review 66:The proprietor took great pride in his establishment. We really enjoyed our stay though it was only one night

Review 67:Can't think of one thing we didn't like.

Review 68:All of our stay.

Review 69:breakfast very basic

Review 70:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 71:Excellent value for money, given the location, room size and facilities. Proprietor was friendly and very helpful.

Review 72:Checkin to late ,small bathroom

Review 73:Air con and location

Review 74:Really good and cheap breakfast. The host was very nice and I will recommend this hotel

Review 75:Good location close to train station, easy walk to the centre, helpful manager, nice spacious room, good wifi - everything we like!

Review 76:Nothing really just like to get out for breakfast although there was breakfast in the hotel

Review 77:Quiet position , comfy bed, good lift

Review 78:Our host was extremely pleasant, helpful and keen to please. Good breakfast

Review 79:Walks a but thin for noise but no real issue

Review 80:Clean, spacious room Very friendly and helpful staff Great decor in general areas and breakfast area-different to so many hotels Easy flat walk into town Quiet side street so good night's sleep Bathroom separate to toilet Good lifts

Review 81:It is all ok.

Review 82:Quiet hotel, little road traffic, good nights sleep. Easy walk from railway station. Manager very helpful , very efficient. Breakfast good value. PC in main reception room, free internet. All round good hotel.

Review 83:The room was in need of renovation - looking a bit worn and in the room housing the toilet missing tiles.

Review 84:The operator of the hotel is terrific and friendly gentleman. Added bonus was his french bulldog named Enjoy! The room was very good size for the money.

Review 85:Attractive and quirky hotel decor. Very friendly and helpful receptionist who advised us on somewhere to eat and was kind enough to book it for us. In the older more traditional part of town, slightly off the tourist drag but close enough for all the amenities.

Review 86:bathroom / shower just a little tired, but in the main everything else well cared for.

Review 87:Le National is pretty central for everything in Sete. Must be one of the closest hotels to the Railway station. Loved the quirky nature of the hotel, the old bikes, nick nacks & photos etc. Rooms were clean, bathroom linen changed on request, stowage space for clothes & cases etc was more than adequate. Really, really pleasant proprietor (Eric) & overall, just loved his place.

Review 88:The internet connection was a bit iffy but it is not the fault of the hotel. Other businesses in the area complained about their internet connection for example when they had to run a credit card. The only area in the room where I had a mostly reliable connection was by sitting on the floor in front of the door to the bathroom.

Review 89:This is a small hotel as I favor them. I registered with it because of the type of persons who recommended it: cyclists. I was not disappointed. Our room faced the Theater and was very quiet. Everyone in the hotel was quiet and well-behaved. The hotel is a short walk from the busy downtown so it is nice to retreat to a quiet place.

Review 90:Location means no great balcony views.

Review 91:The hotel owner was very friendly and helped us with luggage, advice etc. The location was good and we could always find free car parking space on the street directly outside. The hotel was very clean and in my opinion seems worthy of more than just two stars.

Review 92:Very friendly staff. Room was a good size (by French standards) for a family of 4, and was very comfortable. Very close to the train station, and easy walk to the centre of town. Breakfast was good, although it was a shame the seved tinned fruit.

Review 93:Reception was closed for several hours in the afternoon so had to hang around for 2 hours to check in.

Review 94:Comfortable room, friendly staff, good location in the heart of town.

Review 95:Reception closed between 1pm and 5pm was very inconvenient in terms ofchecking in. While it was in the fine print, this is still nothospitality standard.

Review 96:Quieter part of Sete, not on the main crowded island, with easy parkingon the street. Walking to main part of town was about 10 minutes. Goodvalue, clean, nothing special but good basic accommodation

Review 97:What a shame it did not have an internal courtyard! Would also suggest more comfortable sofas in the reception area.

Review 98:Friendly, basic facilities, access to WiFi

Review 99:Some light fixtures didn't work in bedroom and bathroom. Beach things couldn't be hung out to dry on balcony because of dripping pipes overhead. Think breakfast should be included in the price rather than extra.

Review 100:Friendly and helpful staff Free wifi Air-conditioned English option TV Near to train station and good restaurants Quiet area

Review 101:It was a reasonable walk to the centre of town but this wascounterbalanced but it being extremely convenient for the station.

Review 102:The owner was particularly welcoming and helpful. The rooms were'typically' French and quite spacious. The bathroom was smallbut quaint.

Review 103:This is a well run and appointed hotel. It is in a quiet street but close to the station and a pleasant 5 minute walk into the centre of Sete. The staff are welcoming and are pleased to answer any querries. This hotel provides very good value for money.

Review 104:Tinned fruit salad for breakfast! Horrible! I wouldn't eat breakfast there on the second day for this reason. All other aspects of breakfast very good. There are regular fresh fruit markets in the street right outside the hotel - please suggest to the proprietor that he provides fresh fruit.

Review 105:Proprietor pleasant, helpful and informative. Shower/wet room very spacious. Comfortable bed and lots of wardrobe space.

Review 106:No drinks facility in the room but that's fairly standard

Review 107:Really lovely decoration throughout the hotel, all very clean & tidy. Located in the town area rather than near the beach which is what we wanted

Review 108:Le National is handy for the rail station and the town centre. Modern and comfortable rooms at affordable prices. The owner is very friendly and helpful. 10 out of 10.

Review 109:Bathroom was fairly clean though a little bit old, not enough plugs in the room and electricity system wasn't very nicely installed. Just details, but they can make a difference.

Review 110:Very welcoming/arranging staff attitude, nice entry & lift, good breakfast (though not given), some reading available for guests, nice seats in the room.

Review 111:No reading light or armchair in bedroom - poor light meant I had to use ground floor lounge.

Review 112:Big comfortable bed, lift to all floors, good continental breakfast, helpful manager, comfortable lounge on ground floor.

Review 113:Owner was very friendly, place was clean and well kept. Location was very handy for train and not too far from centre of town - would recommend for somewhere in Sete.

Review 114:extremly friendly service, very clean, nice rooms, walking distance to all restaurants, downtown, we did not expect such a nice, friendly and modern place to stay. compliments!

Review 115:Lack of evening meal partly compensated for by good recommendations for nearby restaurants.

Review 116:Friendliness and helpfulness of Eric. Copius breakfast, buffet replenished from time to time, comfortable bed and clean facilities, handiness for rail station and bus stops. Working WiFi despite some reviews implying otherwise. Good public transport in Herault province (until early evening) made a car unnecessary - with 10 Journey 'Thau Agglomeration' (includes coastal resorts to north-east) stored value card journeys are EUR0.80 each including transfer within an hour. Departmental journeys are EUR1.50 for any distance within Herault again including transfer. Acceptable train service along the coast but most journeys much faster but dearer than bus.

Review 117:Presentation it looked better than other two stars. The friendliness of the owner? Very helpful about storage of our Tandem. The breakfast was superb lots of choices! The decor was unusal and different and room was really nice.

Review 118:The friendly family welcome one was made to feel very welcome and the breakfast was a delight nice atmosphere and a good selection of food.the coffee was outstanding

Review 119:We loved the position of the hotel. A few minutes from train and busstation. As we like to visit different places using transport, such asmontpelier, marseillan, bouziques, narbonne etc, delightful restaurantson the doorstep, very close to centre of town, but quiet in the eveningfor a goodnights sleep. The owner is extremely kind, helpful andefficient, the hotel is spotless. Breakfast is a good french breakfast, yoghourts, breads, cheese, jams, fruit juice. Coffee , tea.. Thebedrooms vary in sizes, we had a large bedroom, separate shower room, and separate toilet, small balcony and a sitting area. Lovely beach inSete, a bus ride away.

Review 120:What an excellent hotel. Our room was beautifully presented and all the little design touches throughout make you feel very special. It should definitely be a three-star hotel rather than a two star. The owner is lovely - really friendly and very attentive. I cannot recommend Le National highly enough.
