Anne D'anjou Hôtel descritpion

Close to the center of town, the hotel Anne D'Anjou overlooks the river and has a view of the chateau above.
The hotel has been renovated throughout and now has 45 rooms offering three-star comfort and facilities. Five of these rooms, still have their original decor (Louis XVI, Restoration, Empire periods), and the decor is plush. All the historic moldings which could be conserved have been restored with particular attention.
The rooms facing the Loire offer a splendid view of the sunrise and sunset, while at night, those facing the charming interior courtyard enjoy a view of the floodlit chateau above. You pass through a vaulted cellar, built many years ago by a wine merchant, before reaching the restaurant's two dining-rooms. The main room can seat 50 guests, while the second, with its original beams and a more intimate atmosphere, has 30 table-settings. The cuisine is aromatic, imaginative, and refined. Local produce is used with pleasure, accompanied by carefully selected wines from the Loire Valley. The menus are changed regularly so as to take full advantage of fresh seasonal produce, and the restaurants wine list is reputed to be one of the richest in Val de Loire wines.

Reviews for Anne D'anjou Hôtel

Review 1:Small double bed, dusty surfaces.

Review 2:Fabulous location, we were at the back and had an amazing view of the château above. Excellent associated restaurant. Ability to park on site ( though at a price).

Review 3:Expensive rooms not updated fast and parking additional payments. Have stayed here over the last ten years, it is now not keeping pace with the competition for the money

Review 4:Location next to the Loire, the restaurant

Review 5:Nothing

Review 6:A very classy hotel, beautiful location with a first class restaurant. Lovely breakfast with lots of choice. Plenty of local restaurants to choose from also, my 6th time and won't by my last.

Review 7:Convenient location and loved sitting in the courtyard having a drink on arrival. If we had stayed 2 nights we would definitely have eaten in the restaurant which is accessible from the courtyard and one of the best rated restaurants in Saumur. Would definitely return.

Review 8:The room was quite small, a kettle and tea bags would have been a nice touch. The road at the front was noisy, however, earplugs were provided if needed.

Review 9:The location was excellent, staff friendly and the Breakfast was good

Review 10:Lovely tranquil spot! Beautiful room in off courtyard, cool and spacious . Shown upstairs room as well with river view but this seemed hot and potentially noisy.

Review 11:The room was quite hot, although there was a heatwave on at the time so that might have been the case in most hotels.

Review 12:Beautiful hotel, good breakfasts and very helpful staff

Review 13:The room I had was very hot and small, and looked as if it could use a little freshening.

Review 14:The staff was fabulous! Superb. The garden is lovely, and the location wonderful. The breakfast and the breakfast room and salon were lovely.

Review 15:The ventilation in the attic was poor. We were there at temp. 30+.

Review 16:Nice and helpful staff. Nice family room in the "attic". The garden at the backside was wounderful.

Review 17:wonderful garden and the old style. the breakfast was excellent. The location was perfect, calm but center of village within. less than 5 minutes walking.

Review 18:Beds were very bowed, mattresses were tired out and uncomfortable. For the same price, we had a lot better elsewhere.

Review 19:Good location, large rooms, refrigerator in room.

Review 20:Nothing.

Review 21:We've stayed at Anne d'Anjou a number of times before. It fully lived up to expectations with its quite elegance and wonderful welcome. The garden courtyard, with its view of the chateau, is a perfect place in the late afternoon.

Review 22:All round excellent. Room a bit hot because no air-con (very hot weather) but fan provided. Staff excellent and very enjoyable dinner at restaurant. Would stay again if in Saumur.

Review 23:A lovely, friendly hotel which we have stayed in many times. The location is ideal, close to the town centre with all its bars and restaurants. Our room had a great view of the chateau and was very comfortable. We enjoy having breakfast or a drink before dinner in the pretty, little courtyard at the back.

Review 24:I didn't want to leave

Review 25:Friendly,helpful staff. Pleasant room with lovely view over the Loire ( back rooms overlook the chateau)Near to the town centre and chateau, delicious meal in associated restaurant .

Review 26:Friendly traditional hotel with attentive staff (who speak several languages). Lovely views over the Loire or of the Chateau. We have stayed here several times, old Saumur is a good base for the region.

Review 27:Rooms a little warm so windows left open leading to traffic noise at night.

Review 28:Character, entrance lobby with staircase and courytard. rxcellent restaurant attached. Great location.

Review 29:Nothing really - if I had to say anything then maybe the room and en suite bathroom looked a bit tired but very clean and comfortable for the price and will be more than happy to stay again next year.

Review 30:Room overlooking the river Lovely terrace garden below the chateau ramparts Restaurant on site Gated parking (worth the extra) Beautifully restored building with many original features Walking distance of the centre for bars, restaurants etc. Wide choice of breakfast from constantly replenished buffet Very courteous, helpful and pleasant staff

Review 31:The room decor was a little tired.

Review 32:The location, in a historic house close to chateau and the river. Peaceful garden beside the chateau, for breakfast if you want. Private car park, worth paying for when the car is full!

Review 33:The breakfast prunes had their stones in......ha ha

Review 34:Lovely room, good nights sleep, friendly staff, good choice for breakfast, hotel well positioned for restaurants and site seeing

Review 35:Shower over the bath was either handheld or horizontal jet to the farwall. No tea & coffee making in room. No restaurant on site but theadjacent partner restaurant was closed fo the 2 nights of our stay. Anyroom on the front would have suffered the loud music from across theriver all day.

Review 36:All the multilingual staff were friendly and helpful, cleanliness, breakfast which was worth the 15 Euro each, location for the view up tothe Chateau and proximity to restaurant and bar area of town.

Review 37:We regularly stay here as we travel through France. A change from standard chain hotels. Quiet bedrooms, peaceful courtyard garden for an evening drink. Excellent breakfast. Staff always very pleasant and helpful.

Review 38:No real issues for us to mention, but I could imagine some guests being unhappy that it didn't have a modern, high class hotel feel with more space for parking etc.- but we were happy for the cost and central location.

Review 39:Hotel was easy to find - as it is located between the chateau and the river - and accessible for luggage as we had pre-arranged parking in the private courtyard for our motorcycle. Staff were very courteous and gave helpful suggestions for other restaurants in Saumur (their own restaurant was closed that evening). This allowed us to have a good walk through the old town, before a good meal (in Le Grand Bleu) and a stroll across the bridge for some nightie photos of the town and chateau. We had a 'nightcap' drink in the courtyard - with the staff again being friendly and accommodating of our limited spoken French. The room was fairly small and basic, but with a comfortable bed and the traffic noise was fine with the window open all night. Not the most 'up to date' of hotels - but all the better for that for our brief, 1 night stay.

Review 40:All was good. I had been there before so I knew that it was worth going back.

Review 41:Proximity to Chateau, riverside setting, tranquil courtyard, period rooms and furniture. Relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff. Just a short walk to Saumur's Chateau and the old part of the city, restaurants and cafés.

Review 42:Tried to ring en route as we were stuck in traffic but there was apparently a problem with the phone

Review 43:The location was superb. Our room had a view of the chateau which is beautiful. Excellent breakfast. Room comfortable and well appointed.

Review 44:TV reception in annexe can be limited, if BBC World news and sport matters to you!

Review 45:Location excellent for easy access to town, chateau etc. Classic hotel. Huge room in annexe. Secure parking. Breakfast excellent with hot and cold foods - kept us going on our onward journey!

Review 46:Nice place to stay to explore Saumur , free parking available, wifi, staff gave good recommendation for dinner. Hotel has very goodrestaurant, but needs to be booked beforehand.

Review 47:However, the decoration and furniture is old and tired. We stayed there in the middle of July and the room was hot, it definitely needs some air conditioning. Not satisfied with the quality of the mattress, either.

Review 48:The location of the hotel is beautiful, by the Loir river, and so is the garden facing the castle. Charming 18th century staircase.

Review 49:Room linked air-conditioning so windows had to be kept open. Rooms on quayside are consequently quite noisy.

Review 50:Central location on quayside and magnificent view of Chateaux from rear of hotel. Perfect for access to Chateaux and old town. Good breakfast albeit somewhat expensive.

Review 51:I would like to have had a better view of the chateau. Our room was atan oblique angle. We did not have breakfast as we thought that e15 eachwas too pricey. We also ate in town as the hotel restaurant looked tooexpensive.

Review 52:We loved the wonderful staircase and the sense of history at the hoteland Saumur itself. It was very well placed for a short walk into town.It was a lucky find for an overnight stay.

Review 53:Our abrupt, dismissive "welcome" by one of the receptionists as we arrived on our bicycles. Breakfast was expensive at €15 each. Wifi was very slow.

Review 54:We were in room 410 on the ground floor, off the very lovely patio area where you can view the Chateau on the hill above. The room was of good size. Staff were friendly, apart from one. The room rate was a fair price.

Review 55:No air con so the room was very stuffy and we had to leave the window wide open all night which was a bit worrying as we were on the ground floor. The place where a full length mirror should have been was without one and just the frame. The shower was only covered by a curtain which was grubby and spoilt the bathroom

Review 56:We had a lovely room in the courtyard which was bright and pleasant. Large bathroom and additional sofa. Breakfast was good and staff very friendly

Review 57:We had to pay 16 euros to park two motorbikes when we could have parkedthem at the front of the hotel for nothing. But that's a quibble.Everything else was lovely.

Review 58:Lovely welcome. Courtyard good for an evening drink. View of the riverfrom our bedroom. Bath.

Review 59:Lack of air conditioning-but this due to "listed building". Fans provided on request.

Review 60:It's location, views front and rear, proximity to the town and facalities. Everything within walking distance.

Review 61:Restaurant closed Sunday and Monday evenings - but hotel's recommendation for alternative worked out very well

Review 62:Almost everything - stunning location and tranquil atmosphere. Helpful staff and a super room

Review 63:Not what I would describe as an hotel.Lacks most normal facilities of a 4 star hotel .Our room was tired. Superior B&B??

Review 64:Good location. Friendly Staff.Ease of access. Value for money.

Review 65:We were on the third (top) floor and it was very hot in the room. No air conditioning, just a fan. It was only 22 degrees outside during the day so I can't imagine what it would be like in the room if had been a hot summer day. Definitely request a room on floors 1 or 2. Other than this, the stay was nice. We would go back.

Review 66:The location is great. Very close to the village and chateau. The property is beautiful and the staff were helpful and courteous.

Review 67:Price was fair but would have been much better to have had breakfast and parking included in the room rate.

Review 68:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location superb. Building was lovely, beautiful decor and spotlessly clean.

Review 69:Hotel very close to centre of the town, wonderful views of Loire river from the bedroom window.

Review 70:Charming comfortable upmarket hotel of the old school, the kind you all ways want to find but rarely can .

Review 71:Location and staff

Review 72:People that live in Saumur were the least friendly of all the places we visited in France. Not a fault of the hotel. just the atea.

Review 73:Nice staff

Review 74:Very good location close to Chateau and town. Staff very welcoming and excellent service.

Review 75:Location Elegant comfortable hotel

Review 76:Rooms in the annex felt slightly dated.

Review 77:Very well located, secure car park on site, nice traditional feel, excellent staff.

Review 78:Room 408 needs cheering up.

Review 79:Excellent staff, friendly and helpful.

Review 80:THe cost of the accommodation for what you get is very over priced. I think we will be looking for alternative accommodation in future.

Review 81:Bar facilities

Review 82:Location Parking

Review 83:Staff very helpful . Great breakfast

Review 84:The location and view of the Chateau from the room, the secure parking and the helpful friendly staff (Mary-Lyn was awesome....)

Review 85:We could have done with air-con the first night!

Review 86:Location with view of river from room

Review 87:WiFi very slow

Review 88:Staff great - very welcoming and helpful. Lovely building, fabulous location.

Review 89:Breakfast over priced
