Reviews for The Kimberley Hotel
Review 1:Car Park is very small and was full on our arrival. I therefore had to park on the road using a disc-based time system which also meant I had go out to my car early the next morning to reset the disc time
Review 2:Excellent location - 5 mins walk into the town centre
Review 3:We travelled to Harrogate to celebrate my husband's birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, despite the weather. Large room, spacious bathroom, quiet location and excellent access to the town centre. Would certainly return. Enjoyed a beautiful meal in the restaurant as good as any fine dining establishment we have visited.
Review 4:The beds in rooms 2006,2003had no support therefore I woke up with backache which ruined my stay.
Review 5:Previously stayed here in oct 15 was a fabulous stay and returned for a romantic night on the 1st jan 16 to be bitterly dissapointed at the comfort as the beds were horrendous. The staff answer to the beds situation was well there all the same. No there not obviously or I would not have returned to the hotel .
Review 6:Rooms to hot even with heating of we booked a new years meal food was very good but cheese board disapointing only soft cheese
Review 7:Clean hotel friendly staff nothing to much for them
Review 8:Couldn't get any food on christmas day ,was told to try weatherspoons ,read they didnt take dogs anymore on there web page ,had to pay for the dog to be looked after ,cost 80 pounds ,to get there an dogs were there ,was told there aloud to until jan ,was not impressed as booked saying i had a pet ,had sandwiches for xmas dinner from the spar !the burger bar shut xmas eve .sat in the bar on boxing day after having a meal in the restaurant , it was about 10.30 they closed the bar saying the night shift people would take over in ten mins ,it never reopened,so all in all ,the hotel was lovely ,the rest was awful ,lea ing us without food on xmas day ,saying it had been booked up for months ,i only booked end of nov ,an wasn't informed , bare in mind we had 2 young children with us.
Review 9:Room was quiet, comfortable, relaxed break - everything was good. Breakfast really good - could choose a fantastic continental option at a good price.
Review 10:The shower and bath made a terrible sound and the water took a long timeto heat up. It didn't spoil our stay though.
Review 11:The room was spacious. The bar was welcoming. Good location. Comfortablebed. Iron and ironing board in the room.
Review 12:The hot water didn't work an the room was not warm also my son in law paid for this break for us an authorised his credit card to pay on arrival an I had to pay for the room in cash
Review 13:Location an friendly staff
Review 14:We had a front facing room and as it was warm we wanted the window open. However the noise from the road was constant which meant we needed to keep the window closed.
Review 15:Lovely building
Review 16:Having to pay for parking especially when this wasn't listed.
Review 17:For a basic room, it was a reasonable size, and the bathroom was lovely. Nice to have tea and coffee making facilities. Quick walk into town. Nice staff. We didn't have time to eat at the restaurants but they looked yummy.
Review 18:The dining experience was slightly marred by the over attentive staff hovering to see if we had finished our meal.
Review 19:Gorgeous 2course meal in Signatures restaurant. Better than some high end restaurants we've dined in, but very reasonably priced. Very clean and comfy room, with a massive television!
Review 20:The room could have done with an iron, but definitely cannot complain about anything else!
Review 21:Location was absolutely excellent, only a couple of minute walk from the International Centre, and a further five minutes walk uphill to the town. The hotel was extremely good value for money, and was able to find free road parking only five minutes walk from the property.
Review 22:I liked everything about this hotel. Location excellent as my friend and I went to International Centre. The breakfast was very good .will certainly go again
Review 23:Dust on the wardrobe top where i put my holdall.
Review 24:Friendly staff, nice comfortable and quiet standard room, good breakfast for £9.95. Excellent price and location.
Review 25:Only 2 spaces left in carpark at the back. My friends took those. I have a hi top camper but receptionist didn't say there was 2 spaces directly in front of the hotel which were free. It was absolutely pouring down and directed me to a car park that was barriered when she knew I had a high top. I then got stuck in one way system. Finally found a carpark 15 minute walk away. The receptionist who was on later said I could have parked in the front parking spot!!!! Very stressful situation which could have been alleviated by the receptionist! Going the exta mile!!
Review 26:Great location, great price, fantastic breakfast with great quality produce
Review 27:Breakfast poor, room a bit cramped , hard bed , in need of refurbishment , not much parking , bit out of town , lacking atmosphere
Review 28:Cleanliness, bar, shower
Review 29:The bed. Obviously 2 singles pushed together, leaving a solid ridge down the middle of the bed. I'd have preferred a double bed, one that was comfortable.
Review 30:Nice big room. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy. Everything was spot on apart from……
Review 31:Poor car park, very limited spaces Off street parking better especially if you manage to find a free space i.e. out of the parking zone
Review 32:Great location Well appointed room Good choice for eating in the hotel although we did not use this facility
Review 33:We ate in the restaurant and had a 3 course dinner for 2 and a bottle of wine for £49. Great value, great food and the staff was so helpful and alert bent over backwards for us. Defiantly try the restaurant if your staying at the Kimberley hotel
Review 34:Uncomfortable bed. Room too hot at night with only a fire exit for a window. Excessive noise from the room next door (sex!!!) so the walls are too thin!!!
Review 35:Just a short walk from the shops/bars/restaurants. Friendly staff.
Review 36:Car parking a little restrictive but it is a very minor issue.
Review 37:The location was superb - the hotel was clean and welcoming and the staff were excellent.
Review 38:Lack of attention to detail, dust on lampshades and on surfaces. Noisy room, got disturbed several times in night by guests in other rooms and leaving hotel.
Review 39:Spacious room
Review 40:very friendly and helpful staff. convenient for international centre. Good food, comfortable beds and all at a very reasonable price. What more could one want
Review 41:My friend and I found the staff both welcoming and helpful. There was a slight delay with check in BUT this was only because the receptionist was assisting another guest with their suitcase. We stayed on a 'room only' basis, and were really pleased with our twin en suite room. It was spacious, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. I'd definitely stay here again and next time, book for breakfast as well.
Review 42:As the bedrooms are always very good we were disappointed that the pillows supplied were rather uncomfortable.
Review 43:We were offered us a delicious choice of both full English and continental breakfasts and our evening meals in the Signature Restaurant were excellent.
Review 44:Room was at back and quiet. Happy to store my bag until afternoon of departure which solved a problem. Breakfast excellent although hot food cooling down and running out on some items about 30 minutes towards end. No baked potato offered in ground floor eatery so decided to eat out but that is only a minor point.
Review 45:The pillows were lumpy and not to our liking !!! That was our only criticism !
Review 46:The staff were very friendly and the service was very good. The restaurant served excellent food .
Review 47:Room had no heating so was very cold, breakfast was cold and not value for money.also no bath just a disabled shower. When complaint was made to the man on the desk he said he would pass our comments on still haven't heard anything....
Review 48:We have stayed here before and loved it so re booked for our anniversary.
Review 49:Staff were not professional in most areas of the hotel especially in the restaurant. Food was acceptable but not as good a it could have been. The room was very cold and the heating system didn't work well. Smoking on the front steps of the hotel, not really acceptable.
Review 50:The location and ambience of the hotel was good.
Review 51:The only thing I didn't like was the staff when we went for breakfast wasn't very polite.
Review 52:The room was very nice and was prepared nicely for our stay.
Review 53:In the morning, a horrific smell started coming from the bathroom as though sewers were leaking! It made us hurry up and get out of there quicker than what we would've liked too!
Review 54:Reception appalling ,misdirections no offer of help with luggage failure to activate room key resulting in 3 wasted trips to the 3rd floor
Review 55:Service in restaurant and bar was excellent. Food quite good .
Review 56:We have stayed at the Kimberley on several occasions in the past and always had a good experience. However, standards seem to have slipped since our last visit. For an executive room in a 4 star hotel there were a number of shortcomings, all minor, but which all add up to a negative experience. Previous guests linen piled outside the room door on check in. Water supplied but no glasses. Bathrobes supplied but dumped on the bed in a too-small ziplock bag. Kingsize bed was two mattresses zipped together but no topper, so a ridge down the middle. Bed made up with one lumpy pillow (another similarly poor quality one in the wardrobe) No information on hotel facilities in the room. No room service. Waitresses at breakfast seemed to be untrained. Checkout time 11am but the maid was repeatedly knocking on the door at 10:15 to service the room.
Review 57:Location
Review 58:The only thing about our room we didn't like was that the double bed was a standard size bed not the kingsize you get in most hotels today and although comfy not what we are used to and that is why we marked down comfort.
Review 59:All the staff were friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble and the hotel was spotless .
Review 60:Parking, but that happens in any large town, so not really unexpected
Review 61:As this was very last minute, due to the other hotel booked cancelling the booking two days before arrival we were unsure of the reception. The hotel was outstanding with a fabulous breakfast
Review 62:Although one of the restaurant staff was quite rude when i passed through the restaurant with my little Yorkshire terrier by mistake when I arrived. I understand that dogs are not allowed down there but He could of advised me politely instead of running towards me shouting which was quite rude and upsettting
Review 63:staff, location, cleanliness, and price
Review 64:Restaurant is no where near as good as it was in other part. The new room has no atmosphere. Menu was poor and quality of food not as good. Car park a pro men now as well
Review 65:The car parking system would be pain when you arrive on a dark, wet and windy evening as we did. We were lucky to find a space in the tiny car park but had to pay £6 for the privilege rather than drive round looking for a free space.
Review 66:No complaints about the hotel, staff or location. Fantastic burgers in the attached restaurant.
Review 67:We were not given the option to check in early or given an area where we could freshen up after our 100 mile journey.
Review 68:Great room and in a great location
Review 69:Ventilation /heater fans were noisy ,bearings noise , moved room , slight noise from second room . Bed mattress could be more comfortable. Builders in rear of building noisy in early morning
Review 70:Poor water pressure meant that the shower kept dropping to a dribble & the toilet took ages to refill. Also, mattress wasn't great. Combination meant I didn't sleep well!
Review 71:Really close to the centre of Harrogate & decent sized room for the price.
Review 72:I booked a room with a double bed and got two single beds pushed together. Having to pay £6 per night for using the hotels car park, surely it should be free if you are staying in the hotel! The bar prices were on the dear side, mostly the spirits.
Review 73:The staff were very helpful and very friendly. The breakfast was very good,a good choice of fruit juices, cereals, fruit and the usual breakfast food.
Review 74:Several points let them down; 1) I could hear every movement of the elevator through the wall, up and down to every floor - not just my floor. 2) various items in my room needed attention - flaking paint, stained bed covers 3) the window cover in the bathroom falling off
Review 75:The rooms visually were nicely furnished, and in general the hotel was very pleasantly styled. The hotel is convenient to the city centre, maybe ten minutes walk.
Review 76:I thought I had booked b&b only to be informed it was room only and no space in the car park which was awkward as the hotel is in a zone parking area which meant a 15 minute walk back to the hotel
Review 77:Location was good
Review 78:Breakfast was poor. Nothing in trays to choose from, people were waiting around for eggs, then another wait for bacon, juices not replenished. Ended up with egg sausage and beans as nothing else to have....went to breakfast at 9.15 so wasn't at the end of the breakfast period. Really need to improve here and definitely not worth the £10 charge for it!.
Review 79:Good location, comfortable and clean
Review 80:its advertised hotel parking and we and others could not park at the hotel so you get a parking disc from the hotel but in the day time you get 3 hours and then have to move your car
Review 81:it was ok
Review 82:very few parking spaces for the size of the hotel. Arriving late in the afternoon was unable to find parking and there appeared to be an ongoing issue with adjoining property regarding this. Room was very small.
Review 83:Very comfortable bed
Review 84:I have stayed there before and it was free parking this time it was £6 but this wasn't mentioned prior to booking.....
Review 85:Walking distance to the town centre.
Review 86:On arrival reception man poor. Lock on room door unreliable. Room very hot.
Review 87:Superb breakfast facility. Very convenient location for all of Towns attractions. Good outside seating area - no heating though
Review 88:Although our stay was very brief, the staff were welcoming after a long drive; the room was clean and bright; the shower great and beds were comfortable. Would happily stay again when next in Harrowgate.
Review 89:Bed and pillows too firm. Noise in adjacent rooms early hours and 0530.
Review 90:Polite and helpful staff. Good breakfasts. Free parking nearby. Safe location. Clean room and bathroom. Nicely decorated and furnished
Review 91:The "residents" bar closed early.
Review 92:Car Parking on site at a very reasonable £6.00 per night. Fast friendly check-in and check-out. The Burger Bar in the basement is fantastic.
Review 93:Bathroom in need on urgent maintenance, chipped and loose floor tiles. Dangerous to walk on when wet, plastic under sheet on the bed rustled like a packet of crisps every time I moved during the night.
Review 94:Excellent location, lovely breakfast, quick and efficient check in / check out
Review 95:No complaints.
Review 96:It's the 3rd or 4th time I've returned to the Kimberley, so they must be doing something right. The location's good, the cost of parking is worth it, and everything works.
Review 97:Felt the hotel was functional. No view from room windows. Parking was poorand price not good. Have stayed in better 2* and 3* hotels. Try Ambasador Hotel 4* in Lodz Poland. That was a 4* hotel.
Review 98:Leak through shower door soaked the bathroom floor. Someone put two breakfasts on our room number which I explained we did not eat. Felt quite accusing that we had!
Review 99:Staff were very helpful in assisting with a cot for our baby. Great location. Lovely building
Review 100:£6 PER DAY FOR CAR PARK AT BACK WHICH HAD BUILDERS VANS ON AS BUILDING WORK TAKING PLACE WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINYING
Review 101:staff very welcoming and helpful. room was lovely and clean and little extras like mint chocolate with tea and coffee was nice
Review 102:Breakfast could been better. Eg bigger selection of fresh fruit. I thought reception should have informed me it was £6 per night parking in their car park as I thought it was free.
Review 103:Rooms very comfortable. Beverages excellent in room.
Review 104:Second time staying here and second time without any hot water, no apology each time, staff just write it in a maintenance book
Review 105:Bed really comfortable, good central location
Review 106:I hated the fact that the room was not quiet, we could hear everyone outside and in the room above.
Review 107:I liked the size of the room, the distance from the shops and the ease of getting to it from the bus station.
Review 108:The lighting in the bathroom as a little dim for shaving (an illuminated shaving mirror would solve that one. Parking is limited.
Review 109:Location is very convenient without being in town centre. The rooms (executive) were decoratedto a good standrd and clean. The bar area was inviting and handy for a drink before bed! The breakfast was very good too.
Review 110:Disappointed that we had to pay £15 to park in the holiday inn car park next door. An on site car park was one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel. There are 72 rooms and less than 20 car parking spaces which isn't mentioned on the website.
Review 111:Beautiful room, very modern. Excellent facilities.
Review 112:Really friendly staff. Lovely room with a huge bathroom and really big television - perfect for the rugby! Excellent dinner. Fantastic value for money.
Review 113:Absolutely beautiful room excellent value for money, huge bed, huge bay window and amazing wet room style shower! The staff were extremely polite and very helpful and the restaurant menu was lovely! We can't wait to come back
Review 114:Shower screen allowed water to seep onto the floor so there was a flood each time. WiFi in room was really poor to non-existent!. To get to safe you had to lie flat on floor not easy if you are not so young!
Review 115:We had an executive room which was very spacious and on a good position.
Review 116:We were not made aware that the restaurant needed to be pre booked for dinner resulting in us not being able to get a table. The room alarm sensor was directly above the bed and a LED flashed every 10secs.
Review 117:Everything appeared clean. Some staff were very attentive.
Review 118:The hotel was very friendly and accommodating. It's in a great location and is clean and tidy. The decor is lovely. Breakfast superb. Staff friendly. Bar staff bent over backwards to ensure we got a meal when the restaurant was full.
Review 119:nice and clean hotel quite close to town and pubs, there's option to park your car behind hotel for a fee, also a restaurant downstairs although we haven't used it.there is a shower over the bath and the bedrooms not a bad size.
Review 120:did not like the car park charge per day. Also the cost of breakfast at £8.00 was over the top. did not buy one
Review 121:the location was excellent, and the room was good value
Review 122:The two people on reception were not very welcoming or friendly at all.
Review 123:Beautiful location. Lovely modern decor throughout the hotel. Comfortable stay.
Review 124:Car parking should be free. More condiments for hot drinks, we was only left enough for one drink.
Review 125:Great location. Staff very friendly. Comfortable stay. We did not stay for food so cannot comment on that. We went for a meal at the orchid restaurant which was amazing!
Review 126:the car parking could be better but to be fair I could not see what they could do much to help
Review 127:in a good part of the town for us to oldies nice clean hotel food in the restaurant very good
Review 128:Car parking charges..
Review 129:Bed was huge and very comfortable, room was very clean and spacious, nice decor, bath towels were fluffy and smelt gorgeous, bathroom was a good size. Hotel very nice, would visit again.
Review 130:The builders outside building apartments very noisy. The drains in bathroom stunk of eggs, left a letter to manager but no response.
Review 131:Good location nice looking hotel
Review 132:We went to visit my daughter whose husband is in the army so our relatives stayed at this hotel excellent value for money they would recommend it to anyone
