Reviews for Dunskey Guest House

Review 1:The overall decor and first impression is one of a tired building. It also had a foishty smell up to the room.

Review 2:The room was large and comfortable. It was clean and had a large bathroom

Review 3:Cold breakfast choice was good, hot not so good a choice plus didn't like the sausages, and no tattie scones on a Scottish breakfast

Review 4:Very friendly couple, clean and room serviced which was nice, quiet house

Review 5:Bed was uncomfortable. There was only a hand held shower over the bath.We would have preferred a room with a shower.

Review 6:Quiet and charming location of accommodation. Very friendly and helpful owner. Clean and spacious room. Good choice at breakfast and the food was freshly cooked and served with a smile!

Review 7:Place was a little tired but clean. Not easy to carry suitcase down to Hotel and the gravel was not easy to pull along.

Review 8:Location, welcoming, nice lounge area. Décor a bit dated and the carpet a bit worn. Shower a little damp smelling. But overall for a one night stay fine.

Review 14:bathroom door didn't shut, wifi not available in bedroom, room with seaview? We were on side of house

Review 15:Very relaxed and friendly environment, choice of cooked or continental breakfast

Review 16:If I had just one gripe it would be that the path to reception is steep and would prove difficult for anyone with limited mobility.

Review 17:The breakfast was excellent; the owner was very friendly and there was ample parking.

Review 18:Our attic room was lovely but was cold on arrival. We understood that the weather had been unseasonably wet and windy with low temperatures for June and the temperature did improve.

Review 19:The location and view. The feel of the place; the owners were really friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our room which was large and tastefully decorated and appreciated the sitting room as well.

Review 20:The room was tired, needed an upgrade, double glazing ran with water, room was cool, no heating. Shower was inconsistent between hot and cold. On second morning milk and t bags were not replenished. Had to go and get cash as their machine was broken!

Review 21:Location was good. Breakfast was good.

Review 22:not a problem for us, not really suitable for elderly unless fit, steep climb to and from harbour, guest house on a hill

Review 23:comfortable friendly place, lovely views and peaceful location. in the process of decorating. would go back.

Review 24:couldnt get the wifi working but nothing major!

Review 25:the view of the sea when we woke in the morning was amazing! owners very friendly, breakfast left us full for the day!

Review 26:Dunskey guest house is not far from the harbour area, about a 5-8 minute walk up hill in a nice peaceful area. We had the family room which was in the attic , good size for the 4 of us, with ensuite bathroom and shower. The staff were helpful and friendly and breakfast was very good with a varied choice. If we return to Portpatrick would definitely consider staying there.

Review 27:Nothing at all.

Review 28:This was our first visit to Port Patrick and we feel like we stumbled onto a gorgeous little coastal village. The Dunskey guest house was a jewel. Very friendly and welcoming, lovely location, nice room with sea view and marvelous breakfast. We will definitely be returning.

Review 29:Welcoming friendly staff, breakfast set us both up for walking. Clean and fresh bedroom. If we visit portpatrick again we will be sure to book in again with Dunskey Guest House!!

Review 30:Bed terrible. No soaps, hair dryer. Nobody checked on us. Credit card machine broken. A lot of money for a less then average place.

Review 31:Breakfast server very nice. Good breakfast & clean.

Review 32:double bed was hard and we had difficulty sleeping. For two nights and the price it was manageable.

Review 33:family room excellent space with large bathroom and very clean. Total stay was simple, unobtrusive with no fuss.

Review 34:Access to my en-suite bathroom meant negotiating three steep steps witthout a handrail which could present problems for some. Further the shower fitment in the bath was difficult to control It was either too hot or too cold, Needs replacing.

Review 35:The owner was welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast was also very good. The rooms were comfortable.

Review 36:Our room on the top floor was pleasant and had a great view. Unfortunately the bathroom didnt feel terribly private due to the type of door and showering facilities were slightly lacking with temperature very difficult to control.

Review 37:Staff very friendly and welcoming, a very good location and good breakfast.

Review 38:The stairs up to the room could be a bit narrow and steep for the less mobile.

Review 39:Stayed at The Dunskey on our way to a family wedding in Northern Ireland. Our room was a family room in the eaves. Quite large comfortable room and very clean. The owner was friendly and the breakfast was very good. Ate at the Harbour House Hotel for our evening meal which we would recommend - good food and friendly service. Overall, really enjoyed our stay.

Review 40:Nothing to dislike.

Review 41:Owners friendly. The Christmas decorations added a lovely touch. The loung was comfy to sit in and enjoy a drink before we went to Campbell's for a wonderful meal. Breakfast was adequate. All round a very nice stay. Kettle in one of our rooms was broken and was replaced immediately.

Review 42:Couldn't access the wi-fi

Review 43:Great location for Portpatrick and Dunskey Golf Club. Clean, comfortable room and helpful, welcoming staff. Good parking, great for pets, excellent value for money.

Review 44:It is a hilly little town! The Guest house itself - we travelled there on motorbikes - the car park is just rough gravel which made it awkward for parking. No double glazing in the room we had, it was a small room which was hard to move around in with two single beds pushed together. Did not feel it was worth the money compared to other guest houses we have stayed in this year.

Review 45:The local town of Portpatrick has a very relaxed atmosphere. The Crown bar with live music had us tapping our toes.

Review 46:TV Not working. Run out of hot water when taking shower. The mattres was uncomfortable. Not all the rooms have sea views (mine not, at least). Hint, if you don't like to play in the shadows, bring your own bulb.

Review 47:Staff very friendly and always willing to help. A really quiet place.

Review 48:climbing up the hill to get back from the harbour to get to the hotel

Review 49:breakfast, games available in the lounge, nice garden comfortable room with bathroom in good condition

Review 50:Could do with updating as the interior does not match the majestic exterior. Also the shower needs to match modern expectations.

Review 51:Very friendly, good breakfast and cosy bed. Good central location although need to be fit to negotiate the walk up to the hotel!
