Reviews for Y Branwen
Review 1:the room was a little dated especially the bathroom which wasn't quite as clean as the bedroom
Review 2:There was a warm welcome which carried through for the whole of our stay. One of the reasons for the trip was to visit Hatlech Castle and location was perfect.
Review 3:Only the pub/ bar area to relax in. No lounge area which wasn't appropriate with children. Staff not knowledgeable about local restaurants.(told there were none but in fact there were three walking distance) View from room was of a stone wall only a couple of foot away.
Review 4:The staff were extremely welcoming. Room was adequate. Food excellent.
Review 5:No cell phone signal in the hotel. The restaurant menu was a bit limited but it was out of season so maybe it had been condensed for that reason.
Review 6:Easy to find and a great location at the foot of the castle with a car park. Generous supply of tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room and yummy biscuits. Beds were comfortable and good quality linen and towels. Very nice breakfast choice and good quality ingredients.. Friendly owner and daughter made us very welcome.
Review 7:A friendly welcome on arrival. Very comfortable clean room with king size bed and with a view looking up at Harlech Castle (illuminated at night). A delightful and well presented evening meal. Very tentative staff . Nice ambience. Highly recommended.
Review 8:Spotlessly clean. Staff went the extra mile and made us feel very welcome. Food was very good, bar prices very reasonable. Our room was lovely with comfy beds and newly fitted high spec shower room. The hotel was clean, fresh and inviting. Good location- a flat walk to the beach and at the bottom of the hill that the castle sits on. Would definitely go again.
Review 9:The evening menu outside the hotel differed to the menu presented.
Review 10:Bed very comfortable and the room size excellent. Good breakfast and very pleasant owner.
Review 11:Great service, husband was doing an event which finished later than expected and they were very helpful re: adjusting times for evening meal. Much appreciated.
Review 12:No wi-fi or mobile signal - problem as I was working. Hotel does say it has wi-fi in all areas this is not true so couldn't use again
Review 13:Rooms comfortable and clean, staff friendly
Review 14:A wonderful hostess. Most obliging. Nothing was too much for her. A good location and spotlessly clean accommodation. We had a really lovely evening meal in the restaurant and good value for money. Thank you for a most welcoming and pleasant stay.
Review 15:Hotel a bit isolated unless you have a car or don't mind walking up very steep hill to town, but good beer and food means you don't have to go out.
Review 16:Good location for a stopover when exploring Wales.
Review 17:Sadly the hotel is in need of an upgrade and its standard is about 2.5* of the 4* rating. The ageing condition of the bathrooms and general cleanliness leave somewhat to be desired. That said for a one night stop over it would suit most weary travellers, and I have stayed in worse.
Review 18:Polite and helpful staff / owners, we didn't ask for much but had we, I am sure they would have done whatever they could to help.
Review 19:Only downside for us personally was location of harlech itself. Bit quiet although for some this will be a bonus!
Review 20:The b&b was lovely. Very comfortable bed, staff were really helpful and cheerful and the room was clean and had a great shower. Breakfast was great and staff couldn't have been more attentive.
Review 21:The breakfast was placed on a cold plate, so when you received it, it was partially cold anyway. It didn't take long for it to be cold. It would be a good idea to place it on a preheated plate.
Review 22:The staff were very friendly and the room was impeccably clean. The evening meal was very good.
Review 23:WiFi was a bit hit and miss and there was a waft of chips with everything on first entering but not noticed subsequently.
Review 24:Well met by friendly staff and a warm welcome in the bar. Room was spacious with a comfortable bed. The ensuite had an excellent shower. There was a wide choice for breakfast, generous portions with very tasty locally sourced ingredients.
Review 25:Room was disappointing and cold compared to my mums room which was nice. bathroom needed updating and water from shower took a long time to go out.
Review 26:The staff were great and so helpful, great location to visit the castle
Review 27:We stayed at Y Branwen while looking for a holiday home park in the area. Great value for money, clean , comfortable beds and lovely room. Great food at night and a heArty breakfast. The landlady was lovely as well. Would recommend!
Review 28:Not a bad experience but the bar area was a little tired. The seating is in need of refreshment.
Review 29:A very enjoyable stay. The staff were brilliant, as was the breakfast the following morning. The bed was big, clean and a welcome change from some B&Bs Good location for Harlech castle. We would stay again.
Review 30:Kippers were not available at breakfast despite being on the menu. The sample dinner menu on the website bordered on fine dining which is one of the reasons we stayed there. However, on arrival was nearer was to pub food. Very disappointing. We had to look for restaurants in the town.
Review 31:The room was a good size and very pleasant.
Review 32:I did not stay. I was given a room that looked out onto a wall and into another bedroom. Window latch not closing. Given another room next to a door that read Danger air compression. Charged in full.
Review 33:I like to stay at this hotel when playing golf at Royal St David's as it is in perfect position being just across the road. The welcome is always warm and friendly and the attached pub always has a friendly atmosphere (and good ale).
Review 34:TV small and wifi patchey.
Review 35:Even though we stayed out of season the staff were friendly and attentive. Room was good standard, clean and tidy.Breakfast included local meat and was very tasty.

Review 38:Nothing
Review 39:Very clean room/bathroom with convenient tea/coffee making facility. Very tasty cooked breakfast - best mushrooms I've had for ages! Friendly staff.
Review 40:Staff were very welcoming and couldn't have been more helpful. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and convenient, and there was a bar and restaurant available. Meals were freshly cooked and reasonably priced. The wine list was fairly priced, too.
Review 41:After a long drive the warm welcome and lack of formality was just what my wife and I needed. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and it was first rate. I cannot remember having lamb steaks as succulent as we were presented with. The locals in the bar were friendly too. Very happy to recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Harlech.
Review 42:Great overnight stay at Y Branwen for a friends wedding. The owners couldn't be more helpful, organising a taxi to the wedding we were attending, recommending pubs to watch the football, offering late checkout and breakfast to order! Couldn't be better. Thanks for a great stay. Also, the taxi driver Fergus was a legend.
Review 43:Beware - the hot water is very hot!
Review 44:The room was large and comfortable. Bottle if water on arrival and biscuits every day was a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent - good choice and very accommodating to alternative diets.

Review 49:The location, the rooms, the restaurant were all fabulous!
Review 50:Would have loved a sea view but realise that not all rooms can have that. Our room looked up to the castle but was above the kitchen so had cooking (chip type) early evening not nice, but, the bacon cooking smell in the morning was quite nice.
Review 51:Lovely and clean good location.very friendly and helpful staff. Limited menu but no problem with that as all home cooked and delicious.breakfast lovely cooked for the individual very good.
Review 52:One of the mornings I needed to leave before breakfast and so the staff offered to make me a bacon sandwich early. They did and it was the best bacon sandwich I have had in a while. Very accommodating
Review 53:A big, well appointed room with ocean views. Genuinely friendly and helpful staff. At first thought it was too far from the town center, but found it only a short (though steep) walk. Down hill return even easier.
