Reviews for Fernhill Hotel
Review 1:Excellent and attentive young staff who showed great patience with some of their more demanding older guests. Breakfast and evening meal were delicious, in particular the venison main course. Spectacular view of the harbour from reception and bedroom.
Review 2:I think the kitchen is trying too hard. I had the duck which was not as good as the Sandhouse Hotel in Donegal where we had been the night before. Lots of effort on appearance, less on quality.
Review 3:The room was large and comfortable
Review 4:Only down side in staying at this hotel is the cardiac climb up the road from the village back to the hotel.
Review 5:All the staff from check in to check out were very pleasant and professional. Of special note were the young staff in the dining room.
Review 6:A very nice receptionist. A sherry on arrival. Good room with a balcony overlooking the front. An excellent breakfast and very attentive serving staff.
Review 7:The picture of the hotel on the internet was very was misleading Wespent a long time looking for Fernhill down by the Harbour and wasdisappointed it was not there. .
Review 8:Nothing!
Review 9:Hotel in superb position overlooking bay. The staff were extremely helpfu. Fabulous food. Lovely atmosphere in the hotel. The room we had was lovely with good size tv, two armchairs and balcony overlooking the bay. Bathroom very good and fabulous shower, with fresh towels every day. Overall a fabulous holiday. One of the nicest hotels we've been to.
Review 10:Only one comment I would make and that is the bed, although comfy, would benefit from better quality pillows.
Review 11:All the rooms & Reception area have stunning views across the harbour and out to sea. The staff were warm, friendly and very efficient. The food was exactly what we had hoped for - the restaurant again had the spectacular view.
Review 12:Bedroom had sliding double glazed doors on to lovely view over Portpatrick except one door was badly affected by condensation between glass panels which meant it was difficult to see. We found the beds uncomfortable and lumpy and the bathroom was in need of refurbishment. In view of the prices charged, even with Booking.com, it was rather disappointing.
Review 13:Location and view from bedroom was beautiful. The bedroom itself was spacious. The public areas were well maintained and attractive.Conservatory dining was lovely as weather was glorious. Staff were very pleasant.Food was attractively served. Breakfast in particular had the appearance of being freshly cooked
Review 14:We booked on room only basis and were a little disappointed in value for breakfast. I asked for sausage and egg and got one small link sausage and small fried egg. Same charge for that as a full plateful fry up... No cocktail bar facilites at 10.30pm
Review 15:Twin room lovely, clean spacious with own little veranda area. Less than 10 minute walk to harbour, perfect
Review 16:Earl Grey tea in the room would have been lovely. We were looking forward to watching a late night movie after our night out but the TV didn't work, it had sound but did not have a picture.

Review 51:Welcomed with a sherry which gave a personal touch. Relaxing atmosphere and great sea view.
Review 52:Choice of food . Saturday night , only had hake , duck and one other on the menu . Advertising says about local produce , well the duck isn't local , hake would have been . Where was the steak or lamb ?
Review 53:Location , views , staff . Food well cooked and presented but lack of choice .
Review 54:The cocktail bar was poorly stocked and offered little ambience with a bar man who couldn't understand English
Review 55:The overall trip was a huge success made by the hotel and the staff
Review 56:Since last visit room allocated for our 2 night stay is starting to get outdated, Last 2 visits we got a welcome drink on arrival which was a nice gesture. This seems to have been dropped and not sa stated in the company promotion that I received
