Reviews for Findon Manor Hotel

Review 1:Parking - no space reserved for guests when the hotel has functions. They cater more the function guests than those staying. Checking in is not a good experience when functions are on as the reception is not separate from the function area.

Review 2:Staff were very polite and helpful Breakfast excellent Room very clean and comfortable

Review 3:Wasn't very keen on the step into the room which was straight onto the stairwell thought that was a little bit dangerous also the step up to get to the toilet and the bath. Items in the bathroom needed some attention ie,fixing properly

Review 4:The staff were 2nd to none nothing was too much trouble

Review 5:Young children or perhaps over zealous parents making more noise then then their kids

Review 6:Great welcome very friendly all staff happy to help with sincerity

Review 7:Although the bed was comfortable we would have preferred it to have been king size. The bathroom window also needs to be screened at the bottom to provide privacy.

Review 8:The breakfast was excellent and the room had been refurbished to a very good standard

Review 9:Our "superior" room was awful: dismal and cramped with a lumpy mattress through which you could feel the springs. The toiletries consisted of a one use shower gel and a one use shampoo for two guests.

Review 10:The young staff were extremely helpful and the bar snacks and breakfast were excellent.

Review 11:noise from gravel car park late at night did not spoil visit

Review 12:very friendly felt as if we were in someone's house very relaxed excellent service

Review 13:We paid £15 for having our dog with us which is reasonable but I understand it should have been £35 per night for a dog which I think would have been outrageous

Review 14:The meals were fabulous

Review 15:If a hotel uses the word luxury in a room,it should come up to that standard, in this case it did not. The bathroom was poor, loose shelves, dirty curtains, shower screen in poor condition. The breakfast we thought requires more thought and staff require better training

Review 16:hotel staff gave good welcome, room clean with extra wide bed.car park good size. we had a meal in the bar which came up to expectations.

Review 17:unacceptable check in experience! wifi not available first night, no technical help/skills, i found a back door solution myself 12 hours later and advised reception staff member, original fault still not fixed 2 days later,my fix to connect to internet however was working but internet speed was woefully slow

Review 18:location

Review 19:Upgraded my room from standard to superior prior to going, requested 3rd bed in room BUT was given a standard room and was expected to pay for the extras - very chaotic when checking in and out. The bath in my bathroom was lovely to look at but highly impractical as it was an old-fashioned stand allow bath with high sides which anyone with slight knee/hip problems would not have managed. Also you had to step out onto a very narrow step which could be dangerous if wet. No shower curtain provided so water went everywhere.

Review 20:Very pleasant staff at breakfast times.

Review 21:For a superior room, it was cramped and a little tired. Shower and taps on bath very slow, gave up having a bath as would have taken a while to fill the bath.

Review 22:Excellent friendly helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Great fluffy towels and good quality bed linen.

Review 23:Rang before visit to request change to twin room which was confirmed but when we arrived were initially shown to a beautiful double room. Staff willingly made up a twin room for us but the double did look fantastic!

Review 24:Fabulous soft towels and very comfortable beds. Very helpful staff.

Review 25:Couldn't get wi-fi in our room but staff quickly set it up for use in lounge.

Review 26:Lovely comfy bedroom. Friendly, helpful staff. Overflowing breakfast board.

Review 27:Having to leave.

Review 28:Incredibly friendly and unobtrusive staff. Beautifully furnished room which was spotlessly clean with quality linen and towels. Was given an upgrade on arrival which was a nice surprise.

Review 29:Arrived at 9 PM on Thursday night (having driven down from London) to find the restaurant was closed. Weekday breakfast finished at 8.45 AM (way too early, I'm on holiday), but did not start on Sunday until 8.30 AM, when we had to make an early start back to the airport, so they had to opened up specially. Free Wi-Fi did not work in our room (due to the thickness of the walls).

Review 30:Really friendly staff, fabulous, historic building, the central part of which dates back to the 1500s, and which has been operating in the hostelry trade since the 1880s. Food was excellent.

Review 31:Very comfortable, spacious and well-furnished room with a lovely view. Spacious shower-room. Excellent breakfast with lots of fruit as well as a freshly-cooked hot dish.

Review 32:Booking.com

Review 33:The staff were fantastic because because booking.com got our bookingwrong and only booked us in for 1 night .So the hotel had to put us inone room and then move our things well we were out the next day so wecouldn't unpack

Review 34:There was nothing we didn't like, but there are a few things they could do to make it better. Wifi didn't work in the bedroom, but was fine in the main hotel.

Review 35:Staff were friendly and extremely helpful, especially Hattie and the owners daughter. the breakfasts were fantastic and such good value.

Review 36:Courteous, helpful, welcoming but non-intrusive, non-gushing staff. Spotless, comfortable bedrooms. Pleasant sitting and reading lounge. Well laid tables in a restaurant with a varied and enjoyable menu.

Review 37:There was no heating on I complained on Tuesday but It was still off on Friday The choicel of evening food was poor although the food was acceptable And the Car park has a very small wall that I caught my car on The TV was too small and the shower went cold when someone else started using there shower

Review 38:Breakfast good Comfy bed

Review 39:Would have liked a shower in the bathroom. Bigger, softer bed would be good, but these things are just 'improvements'.

Review 40:General feel of the 'Country house' was nice.

Review 41:Our room was clean and comfortable but the only downside was the bathroom. There was a large step to the toilet so it was hazardous when we got up in the middle of the night.

Review 42:Excellent staff, food and our room was very clean

Review 43:It was really difficult get staff's attention to check in, and impossible to locate them to check out. at breakfast I wondered if there were any staff waiting as it took 10 mins for someone to appear and offer me a tea. The bath had at least 5 short curly hairs in it and there was no shower. Décor of the hotel is really tired in some places (corridors, walls). It was one of the noisiest nights I have spent - room over the entrance with every conversation from reception, the carpark and next door bedroom heard in full detail. I felt it was massively overpriced for the standard of accommodation.

Review 44:the bed was comfortable and crisp The bed and bathroom were nice

Review 45:My mother said she enjoyed the best Eggs Benedict for breakfast she had ever had! My folks had a lovely stay with you, booked themselves an extra night and wrote to us to thank us for having found your hotel!

Review 46:Couldn't get shower to work and nowhere in bathroom to put things (no glass for toothbrush) no shelf.

Review 47:Lovely quiet clean hotel tastefully furnished, very helpful staff. Very pleasant stay.

Review 48:Wifi didn't work. Room incorrectly advertised as Superior double. Photos & description on site, & confirmation clearly show a four poster bed in spacious room, the room I stayed in is clearly advertised as a Standard double, with a £20 price difference. At £100 the room would be expensive, at £120 it's way overpriced. Complete staff disininterest when I raised the issue. A pile of 3 vacuum cleaners outside the door of my room. Small TV.

Review 49:Nice quiet room, a pleasant room to wake up in.

Review 50:not a bad experience but would much have preferred a shower to the bathroom that we had

Review 51:Friendly staff I think we had a superior room which was worth it Super room over looking the garden which was beautiful, quiet and relaxing Super food both at dinner and breakfast

Review 52:All meals were poor in quality & choice. The room was very basic, damp, fusty, with drainage smell, inadequate furnishings and dirty with rotten window frames. Hotel needs full refurbishment & currently represents very poor value for the price paid.

Review 53:Staff were friendly. Hotel looks good on the internet pictures but closer examination reveals many shortcomings and suggests to us that the current owner is struggling to keep on top of renewals & repairs to interior/rooms and exterior including the gardens that could be lovely but looked sad and neglected.

Review 54:The bed was quite hard and the bathroom had steps leading to it and up to the bath. This was quite dangerous. We had a meal in the evening. The salmon was well cooked but the vegetable and pasta was bland and tasteless and my husband's chicken pie was also lacking in flavour. All in all we felt it poor value for money. We have stayed in far nicer hotels for less.

Review 55:The staff were brilliant and the location was picturesque and quiet.

Review 56:The shower was very difficult to regulate (either too hot or too cold). The crockery in the dining room was not clean.

Review 57:Comfortable bed, very clean room and en-suite bathroom, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 58:No curtains or blinds in the bathroom and the pretty curtains in the bedroom were to thin so we woke up too early due to a lovely sunrise.

Review 59:Beautiful hotel in a lovely little village. Our room was very nice and freshly decorated.

Review 60:Internet speed was very slow.

Review 61:Well presented hotel, in lovely quiet village. Staff were really friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was so well presented and tasty. Bed lovely and comfy with soft pillows and nice touch of fresh coffee with cafetiere with biscuits. Lovely fresh breakfast well recommended.

Review 62:night time food and the attitude of staff, cashing up in the bar when we had just sat down to eat? and when I asked for another drink at 9.30 I was asked if it would be on my room to which I replied "no" this did not go down well , and a finish time for breakfast of 9 am is a bit early when you are paying £110 .

Review 63:the setting for our party in the garden as we had just been to a funeral was peaceful

Review 64:Bathroom swing doors old fashioned. Toilet roll empty, had to ask reception for another one. Bedroom small and not as expected. Adjacent bedrooms undergoing noisy refurbishment. It would have been polite to have informed us.

Review 65:Staff friendly, tea and coffee in bedroom

Review 66:Nothing not to like.

Review 67:Room was spotlessly clean. Lovely view over the garden. Very quiet. Breakfast was delicious. Staff super friendly & very helpful.

Review 68:Noise audible from adjoining rooms and reception. Side-lamp not working. Window would not quite shut properly.

Review 69:Excellent staff. Comfortable and cosy room with adequate facilities. Good breakfast

Review 70:Room very small and not easy to move around No towel rail in bathroom No heating in bathroom Very noisy from lounge area below No dressing table, had to stand to use mirrow for hair and makeup

Review 71:Breakfast was good Quiet location

Review 72:The modern "make over" feel of the bedroom had a few small irritations. The kettle lead was wrapped around a narrow shelf in the wardrobe so that it was difficult to fill and pour - one could be scalded. The taps in the bathroom both for the sink and shower did not have an indication of which was hot/cold - a lot of wasted water to find out.

Review 73:It was a traditional old style Hotel with a small number of rooms and a cosy feel. The staff were very attentive and helpful.

Review 74:As requested I wrote a report to them to which they have, to date, not replied. In my opinion this shows a lack of care and interest in their customers experience.

Review 75:The bathroom and the chairs in the dining room need replacing.

Review 76:The owners and staff are very friendly and the hotel has started a refurbishment process.

Review 77:2 out of the 3 nights we spent there were interrupted by:- a) other guests waking us up at 3.00am because they couldn't get into the hotel. b) the smoke alarm was bleeping all night, probably due to a flat battery. For the 3rd night we were offered another room of superior quality along with a free bottle of wine. We were surprised to find that the 4 poster bed was seated on a sloping floor, and it was situated in a position which prevented getting a clear view of the TV.

Review 78:The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect for our needs.

Review 79:Nothing to complain about. Lovely hotel .

Review 80:Our stay was for a funeral of a dear friend and we came from Southend. Felt fortunate that we found such a lovely place to stay.Very friendly efficient staff and excellent afternoon tea for the funeral visitors .Many thanks.

Review 81:Restaurant shut due to function despite confirmation e-mail stating table reserved, ate in bar not a problem although somewhat cramped. Guiness was flat !

Review 82:The overall ambience in particular the lounge area with open log fire, well decorated and smart furnishing. Friendly staff. Good location.

Review 83:room overlooking front of hotel, the gravel parking area was noisy and kept awake by the noise of people in and out of the front entrance, would only book again if room was at the rear of hotel

Review 84:nice comfortable room, good food and ale.

Review 85:Noisy clock in the hall kept me awake all night. No shower in the bathroom so no option but to run a full bath in the morning & evening in lieu of a shower.

Review 86:Comfortable, old style charm & friendly staff.

Review 87:Doors slamming from other rooms - need to get in quiet hinges that will allow doors to close softer.

Review 88:Lovely, cute place. Made to feel very welcome. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean, well furnished, comfy bed and pillows. Breakfast was great - plenty of choice.

Review 89:Internet was immensely patchy, the room was cold, should have been nervous when saw they had left a hot water bottle and little heater in there, and we had to deal with lots of small flying bugs all night Didn't ask to move as were worn out, and disn't want to repack in middle of night but be wary of the Aldaniti room. Also wanted to make some telephone calls in the afternoon, and was told couldn't sit in the lounge as they had a funeral party (one of many from what we saw) coming in, and that she could only find me a quiet space if I wanted to pay for tea or coffee, otherwise I would need to go outside ! Very wet and windy day to make my calls - not great customer service. Feel hotel is more geared up to local community than out of town visitors.

Review 90:Food was very good quality - had fish and chips in the snooty fox in the evening, and breakfast the next day Lovely whirlpool bath but too cold to use it.

Review 91:The Wifi issue was a pain! I was unable to get it in my room most of the time and had to go down to the lounge! I did complain and a booster switch was turned on which helped for a short time only on both days of my stay.

Review 92:The bed was very comfortable.

Review 93:Shower very cramped, water pressure poor and took some time for hot water to come through. Dining chairs very worn and need replacing. Hotel is looking a bit tired and really needs updating.

Review 94:Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 95:Being blasted by very loud music from the neighbours. We left early so can't comment on the breakfast but at 7am there was no one on reception capable of settling the account.

Review 96:Room was comfortable and clean Bed was comfortable Good off street parking

Review 97:Stayed for one night and on that basis everything was most satisfactory. Our deluxe bedroom was comfortable. Dinner at the Snooty Fox very good, more comfort food than haute cuisine but suited our appetites that evening. Breakfast was enjoyable, decent choice and adequate portions. All the staff were attentive and helpful. Would definitely return if in the vicinity.

Review 98:beautiful location within the centre of the village. The food was great and we had a very pleasant weekend with lots to see and do in the surrounding area.

Review 99:Location is excellent in Findon village just few miles from Wothing and easy access to the main road A24. The hotel grounds are very nice as is the building itself. Staff very friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast all cooked to order is first class, we had dinner in the Snooty Fox which is the hotels bar and again very pleasant meal. We had a room with four poster bed which cannot be faulted for comfort, room is well laid out and we had no issues with it at all. We will most certainly use this hotel again when visiting Worthing in the future.

Review 100:The bathroom light and extractor fan were on all of our first night. I couldn't sleep. Staff Unavailable after 11. They changed us to a different (more superior) room when the engineer couldn't fix it. A previous guest had broken off the pull switch and not told the hotel. Breakfast not too impressive.

Review 101:Friendly and responsive staff

Review 102:Nothing , all was excellent.

Review 103:Lovely setting in quiet location. We had a meal with family we were visiting ,excellent food and service, lovely bedroom, good nights sleep then very good breakfast in the morning. Will stay again when we next visit.

Review 104:Our room was a bit too warm at night so ditched the quilt and used just the cover.

Review 105:Friendly Staff, comfy bed, easy free parking, great location and wonderful food. We would definitely recommend to others.

Review 106:Nothing

Review 107:Nice decor in keeping with age of property. Great breakfast. Ate in the Snooty Fox and had very good steak and home made chips. Windows could do with cleaning.

Review 108:The bathroom was on three levels and had a free standing bath all of which offers a chalange for those not gymnastically trained!

Review 109:Great staff and breakfast

Review 110:Step into the ensuit shower room second higher step up to lavatory No non slip mat in shower and nothing to hold onto made getting in an out if the shower a bit risky. Very warm night but unable to supply a fan for the room.

Review 111:Individuality of the room's décor Friendly staff delicious meal comfortable bed and pillows

Review 112:Needs investment, tired to worn out in places. Get a proper gardener -- fantastic asset going to waste.

Review 113:Charm, good food and staff. Good location for our needs.

Review 114:staff are excellent and professional.the breakfast is one of the best I have had and I have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the years and my partner was an events organiser for some years , she was impressed with staff and quality of the food .

Review 115:Our bathroom had terrible water pressure, it was even difficult to brush teeth, wash hands etc. It took an age to run a bath, and I had to bathe in about 6 inches of water. There was very little storage in the bathroom for toilet bags etc. It looked beautiful, just wasn't terribly efficient.

Review 116:My sister and I had to share a bed, although we had asked for two singles, this was rectified on the second night. Room was very nicely decorated and looked out over the gardens. Breakfast was good with quality produce.

Review 117:The lunch and evening menu's were what I would describe as modern cuisine,I had rather hoped that being in a traditional English village that there would have been some traditional English fare on offer, unfortunately the local pubs had very similar on offer, but that's just what I think as there were still people enjoying what was on offer. The only sour note was when the bill was presented a different room rate to what I had been given when I booked but this was corrected when I presented copy of e mail conformation.

Review 118:The welcome we got when we arrived was friendly and very efficient. The room we stayed in (Bradbury star) was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. The location was ideal,a quiet village but does have good pubs, curry house etc,the hotel bar was also good,it is also just a couple of minutes from main routes to Chichester,Brighton etc.The breakfast was good, the jam was the best I have ever tasted.

Review 119:The room we were in had very tied decor, there was back mold on the bathroom ceiling, the bed needed replacing, very poor support, the quilt was too small for the bed and the pillows didn't fit the pillow cases, the decor and carpet needed replacing, the room was exceptionally small for a double, nothing like the pictures on website, in the garden was a bed mattress propped against the garden wall, not somewhere I will be recommended, very disappointed, booked 2 nights only stayed for 1

Review 120:Function rooms and reception areas looked like they had been undated, nice decor and well kept

Review 121:weekend breakfast didnt start until 8.30 we were going to the Goodwood FOS so wanted to leave early(7.45) but without breakfast

Review 122:very friendly helpful staff, nothing to much trouble good food

Review 123:No shaver point in bathroom No dressing table Breakfast served at 7.30am except weekends, we were leaving early for Goodwood, so missed breakfast twice, as they served it at 8.30am.

Review 124:Nice village, handy for area.

Review 125:Decor, value for money and friendly staff.

Review 126:Clean, welcoming and the staff very friendly. Food good and can recommend the Suffolk Breakfast.

Review 127:do not stay here as they staff and owner were very unhelpful and would not refund my money even though i didnt stay here.....DO NOT GO HERE

Review 128:The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great. Beautiful rooms and cosy hotel!

Review 129:Only one night

Review 130:Superb food, quiet friendly comfortable

Review 131:lack of staff attention in bar

Review 132:Quiet location

Review 133:Very pleasant stay

Review 134:breakfast yum yum

Review 135:Location
