Reviews for Kinsterna Hotel
Review 1:We'd have preferred if the spa general facilities were free of charge with the additional treatments at a charge
Review 2:Staff very friendly and paying attention to detail
Review 3:It was a beautiful resort with a wonderful staff. Everyone was so kind and helpful. It was a fabulous experience. We traveled with our children and small grandchildren. It had something for everyone.
Review 4:Pool bar not always attended, main restaurant not often open leaving just the limited 'all day' menu, room service & bar service around the hotel was hard to get. Terrible choice of pool 'musak' too!
Review 5:Beautiful pools & view, lovely room. Great breakfast buffet with good range of local foods.
Review 6:The area of the restaurant next to the family pool could use some more shadow. The drinks and ashtrays from the pool areas should be cleaned more regularly
Review 7:The architecture, the outdoor areas, the rooms and especially the bathrooms, the food, the friendly and smiling staff
Review 8:Room was located next to the welcome area of the guests, which was also converted to an open air restaurant in the evenining. Room was also too tight with low ceiling, a small window and hardly any space to walk.
Review 9:Breakfast and design of the hotel
Review 10:The hotel seems a bit enlarged over the last two years and sometimes even it is a bit "crowded' now — you can meet complications finding free table for breakfast outside or free pace near the pool. The new plantings of flowers and bushes near the new buildings might be a bit more rich and high...
Review 11:It is just beautiful place with good designer's work everywhere ( may be only with except of the new business? space), good food and mostly nice and friendly stuff
Review 12:having to call reception to leave or enter car park
Review 13:Beautiful property! Comfortable bed! Nice shower! Nice surroundings! Excellent facilities! Nice and peaceful!
Review 14:Don't expect decent wifi. Rubbish connection and hotel staff not bothered about helping .... Said it was thick walls. !!!!! Need to sort it for the future.
Review 15:Beautiful hotel in stunning location .... Food was so delicious and all from the hotels land .... Worth a trip
Review 16:- Very small double bed. - Bikes in very poor condition.
Review 17:- Excellent breakfast - quality food! - Excellent environment. - Friendly staff. - Very calm place. - Excellent shower.
Review 18:Many things that made this stay not as enjoyable as we had hoped. air conditioning too weak for the room so pretty uncomfortable nights and although we asked several times, we were not offered a satisfactory other room. The room itslef was fine, but nothing spectacular. Breakfast is fine but not different to a hilton buffet for instance. Lunch was disappointing several times: a quinoa salad that consisted of 40 gr of quinoa, a few slices of mushrooms and a lot of olive oil for the price of a full menu down the road for instance. chicken skewers over-cooked and totally dry with a salad with too little dressing for the same price. Restaurant toilets with nothing to dry the hands, or the fact that house cleaning had not delivered towels to the pool 30 min after it had opened. Or dishes not coming at the same time during lunch so that one finishes his dish when the last one gets hers. It was also pretty iirritating that we were shown a couple of rooms to "chose from" when checking in but then told that the rooms we would have liked was with upprice. In summary a beautiful hotel, rooms are not all on the same level so I would caution when booking and ask for details and a lot of possible improvement for service. The restaurant definitely needs a real maitre d'.
Review 19:Gorgeous extrerior setting, 2 beautiful pools, great architecture and renovation. Beautiful terrace
Review 20:As nice as the pictures are - the facility and grounds are even more beautiful. Staff are professional and attentive to every detail. Luxurious but small enough to feel intimate.
Review 21:Sometimes service was very slow, but at least we were on holiday, so not in a rush! Noisy children by the "adult" pool - so should be enforced they only play in the family pool.
Review 22:Everyone is very friendly, helpful and obliging. Spa is excellent and offers some very good massages and other treatments. Restaurant offers delicious local and international cuisine, caters for dietary requirements. Met the chef once who is charming. Recommend the wine tasting as there are some delicious Greek wines - some of ancient origins. Room was always cleaned to perfection with very luxurious Korres products.
Review 23:This hotel is at least 4 hrs from Athens and then quite high up a hill on arrival. So a long walk down to nearest beach and back if you want to leave hotel and not so nice in extreme heat. Car required to get about. The room allocation for a de luxe room was very poor and the twin beds were only 2ft6ins wide which did not impress us at all. The room had a small window looking out at a wall. No wow factor here! The restaurant food was just above average, nothing spectacular but expensive for what it is and we had to wait 20 mins to get a drink! Where do you get a pre and post dinner drink? This was not made clear to us.
Review 24:The setting and the swimming pool. The staff bent over backwards to put right our concerns.
Review 25:The Kinsterna was wonderful. The property is beautifully restored. The room was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful - very proud of their property and happy to share its long history. The breakfast was phenomenal!
Review 26:LEAVING!!!! I could have spent at least another week. When you arrive you believe you are isolated but soon you realize that minutes away in every direction there is rich culture, good food, kind locals, beaches etc! On property you can take a swim, have a spa day, ride a bike, take a hike, watch bread being made in a real outdoor brick oven, watch a local man distiling wine, wander through orchards and herb gardens! It's endless
Review 27:This is a labor of love! The owners worked diligently to restore an amazing property to as real condition as possible. All along they maintained classic luxury and style. The trained and kind staff exuded the warmth and culture of the surrounding village. They were young and energetic. No request was overlooked. The owner and GM take every guests experience personally. This hidden gem is a must see for the most discerning traveler.
Review 28:We asked For more coffee in the room (2 Times) and they never comes even if they assure they would have sent to the room. If a Service (courtesy coffee) is given, it must be always, not only at the check in. Above all when guests are staying For a week. Then long wait at the restaurants: more than 1 hour For fist appetizer is really too much. A 5 stars hotel needs more restaurants to Give more choises. The street to Get at the hotel is a mess.
Review 29:Kindness of staff, good healthy breakfast, good services at the pools
Review 30:Price for food like in Michelin restaurans, but we preferred good taverns with seafoods
Review 31:Location, activities, perfect breakfast, territory
Review 32:wifi didn't work in the kids room
Review 33:Friendly staff, rooms were great and breakfast was excellent especially the pastries!
Review 34:Superb hotel. Superb room in an old cellar. Great swimming pool and delicious dinner.
Review 35:Restaurant service somewhat lacking. Bar hours strange.
Review 36:Pool nice. Fantastic breakfast.
Review 37:Fantastic service
Review 38:Smokers on terrace at breakfast. Tennis court would be nice.
Review 39:Staff, comfort, food, estate wine, location.
Review 40:Wonderful location with many things to do in the area...if you can drag yourself away from the beautiful pool area that is
Review 41:the price is very high
Review 42:beautiful building
Review 43:The place, the building the way it was renovated, the people.
Review 44:Excellent hotel!! You may believe you are at a different time and space... The engineers did fantastic work and they have reconstructed the old mansion with respect and emphasis to details... Very Clean rooms and the dinner at the restaurant very enjoyable.
Review 45:SPA can be used for booked treatments only - use of hammam, steambath/sauna would be lovely to use for everybody! Will hopefully change with the new hotel area for meeting and business facilities!
Review 46:Beautiful hideaway! Excellent service in all areas with outstanding food (focus on local ingredients - from the own gardens - and local recipies)
Review 47:Pool looked fantastic but didn't open until May 1.
Review 48:Great location , very friendly staff. Quiet, relaxing. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast. We had two evening meals at the restaurant. The wait staff were very friendly, helpful. Food excellent. Succulent fish. Interesting desserts. Good walks in the area, through vineyards, olive trees. We have never seen so many wild flowers. Upgraded to a room with a balcony. All rooms look interesting. Good wine. Highly recommended. Will return.
Review 49:It would be nice to change the evening menu more frequently or have a few more choices.
Review 50:Kinsterna is a beautiful historic building complex with views to the sea. The rooms are very nicely done with high quality bed linens, toiletries etc. The staff was very helpful. The breakfasts were delicious and ample,
Review 51:This is a hotel with culture, philosophy and history. Everything is connected with the basic treasure of the manor, which is the water source. Congratulations to the owner who renovated the old manor house, from the scratch, with unique respect to its history and to the staff that they do their best, to make you feel comfortable, in order to enjoy your vacations.
Review 52:a spacier inside lounge area with kids activities is missing. And the breakfast set-up is kind of poor for a 5 star hotel, although the breakfast is fantastic!
Review 53:Great service, great food, loved the free of charge bicycles available for a ride!
Review 54:Some of the staff were a little snobbish, and had a bad attitude. It is quite expensive for what it is, we've been to very similar hotels and they weren't as pricey.
Review 55:We loved the design, the decoration, the pretty surroundings. The dinner was delicious, and the local wine really good. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms spacey. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, and lack of traffic or other noises.
Review 56:Few things to see in the area Cats in al fresco restaurant
Review 57:Beautifully restored builidings Nicely decorated rooms Super friendly staff Pool area Excellent food
Review 58:last couple of hundred meters of road to the hotel is extremely bad, more of an offroad experience.
Review 59:extremely beautiful Hotel! Great garden, flowers, picturesque scenery and a great pool area. Exceptional Architecture!!!
Review 60:The only point of contention was the food at the restaurant. While the food was well presented and the service beyond professional, the food was lacking in flavours given its price and its local engredients.
Review 61:Excellent team. Fantastic rooms. The swimming pool was beyond words. Cosy and private sunbeds for couples, cold water and non chlorinated water straight from a spring. I cannot recommend this space strongly enough.
Review 62:It is really noisy in rooms at least around rooms 12 and 14 as stuff speaks in aloud voice at every time - early at morning or late at night...
Review 63:Location, design, good food
Review 64:- only two menu options ( 12.00- 19.00 and 19.00- 24.00) If you ate at the hotel for a week you would be served the same food every day.
Review 65:- friendly staff - the design of the hotel - the tranquility of the hotel - the rooms - the harmony between the surrounding environment and the hotel - the hotel restaurant - using their own products from their gardens for food cocktails and snacks
Review 66:Very much a luxury boutique hotel. A little off the beaten track but well sign posted. Only stayed 1 night but wish we had more time there. Room great. Pool great. Views great.
Review 67:Everything was excellent. I have only one negative comment which can make or break my second visit and/or recommendation. On our second night we decided to reserve a table at the hotel’s restaurant. I called at around 7 in the evening to reserve one for 9pm. I kindly ask to reserve a table at a small area over an artificial pond (so it can be slightly more romantic for me and my girlfriend). I was told on the phone that they do not take reservations for specific tables as it depends on the overall number of bookings. I said that this is fair enough. On arrival at the restaurant (9pm sharp) we were shown to a table on the side of the pond. The table I originally requested was free, therefore I asked if we could sit there, only to be told that it was RESERVED. I explained again that I called two hours earlier and ask to reserve it but was told I could not. Clearly some staff misunderstanding there or preference of guests to take that specific table (which was taken a good hour and a half afterwards). Now this for me was a straight up insult to my intelligence. I did not move the matter forwards for the sake of my girlfriend having a good time, I was however greatly annoyed. The table we were offered was indeed a great table no doubt, although I had to ask to turn and sit on the side as I would have been looking at a wall rather than the fantastic open view – this was taken by surprise by the staff, but I insisted and I personally moved my own plate… I did want to be able to sit closer to my girlfriend as possible and at the same time enjoy the view. For such a price of the hotel and the meal I would prefer staff to be more flexible with such requests. Other than that during the meal everything including the staff was great. Yet, a bit bitter from the introduction.
Review 68:The peace and tranquillity of the location.
Review 69:The only thing would be the hotel's estimate of distance from Athens - more like 4 hours than 3 h/2 ( & my husband is a fast driver!)
Review 70:We enjoyed everything at this lovely hotel; the staff were discreet but efficient, and friendly. The slow cooking outside, though not advertised for guests was exceptional.
Review 71:Splendid restauration, spectacular setting, but my Byzantine suite was so small that I had a hard time finding a place to open my suitcase. And of course, windows are so small that electric lighting is needed 24 hours. It is also very pretentious, not at all the traditional naturally friendly Greek hospitality.
Review 72:Slight "penny pinching" attitude - no tea and coffe in the room (we had a suite), no typical Greek attitude "have an ouzo on us!" sort of thing, slightly overly proprietorial with breakfast - we should be allowed to help ourselves to juice, cheese etc.
Review 73:Mostly friendly staff. Beautiful location. Very good food. Loots of really positive attributes.
Review 74:Surroundings, the building, rooms and the quality of service.
Review 75:The service is impeccable. You should definitely visit this address.
Review 76:Staff were good but with a little extra training they could be excellent
Review 77:Location food wine facilities rooms atmosphere stunning views
Review 78:The bedrooms in the main building did not have any balconies so there was no where private to sit outside .
Review 79:The service was exemplary
