Reviews for La Joie Des Sables
Review 1:A long way out of town and from public transport outside the high season. Adjacent restaurant not open, but two reasonable ones a short distance away
Review 2:Quiet location. Sea View
Review 3:The hotel was dirty, falling apart, and smelt of smoke, no eating places nearby, not a very nice part of sete to stay in. Very expensive too!
Review 4:Parking was free, beach was near.
Review 5:When you enter the main entrance you are greeted with a strong odour of cigarettes. The room was filthy with sticky/greasy light switches. 20-30 year old stained and rusted furniture. Stained and dirty floors. Hole in the bath. Wall paper peeling off. Some lights not working. It appears to have been built in the 60s or 70s and has had minimal upkeep since then. Even the old furniture seems to be from this period. When we politely mentioned this we received a very apathetic attitude in return.
Review 6:Nothing.
Review 7:Locks on balcony sliding window/doors not working - need to bring down the electronic shutter to ensure security as rooms on ground floor. Shutter on one room broke and was unable to raise it. Room next to back entrance very noisy throughout the night. Had asked on Booking .com for a quiet room.
Review 8:Perfect location across from beach, restaurants and shops. Clean and comfortable rooms with balcony and outside seating. Friendly staff. Ample parking in a parking lot which is locked at nigh time.
Review 9:Just a small problem with the parasol - it did not fit into the floor stand and could'nt be used during our stay. Room nr 34.
Review 10:The location is very near the beach and the view from the balcony was perfect
Review 11:No safe in the room.
Review 12:Great location for the beach, easy bus ride or walk into the old town, and close to some nice cafés and restaurants. An ocean view from our room.
Review 13:Low hard bed, breakfast area was not welcoming and stuffy.
Review 14:Location, excellent restaurant next door, parking. Easy walking distance to a selection of bars, restaurants and just metres away from a long sandy beach.
Review 15:The hotel is a little bit away from everything and the area smelled strongly of fish. We had a bit of difficulties finding a place to eat, as we arrived at 10 p.m. and almost all places were closing.
Review 16:Roomy and clean bathrooms, very friendly breakfast staff and free (although a bit cramped) parking lot.
Review 17:The staff were pretty disinterested. The towels were like cardboard, the pillows were a bit thin as was the bedding, the breakfast wasn't all that either. The location was good for being close to the beach but we drove to the historic centre as it was a bit too far too walk.
Review 18:Overall it was bright and airy and clean.
Review 19:Smelly stale smoke filled corridors. Tired poorly appointed room. Light switch faulty at bedside and bathroom light switch covering fell off wall when touched. Lumpy pillows. Reception staff appeared rushed and disinterested. Small refrigerator in room barely working
Review 20:Parking on site.
Review 21:No bad experiences
Review 22:A nice hotel on the coast, but out of the hurly-burly of the town centre. Helpful, friendly staff.
Review 23:No lift Staff spoke little English No tea/coffee facilities in hotel was advised to cross road to a café.
Review 24:La situation de l'Hotel
Review 25:Closeness to the beach, ideal for our dogs, who were allowed on the beach after 1st October.
Review 26:Decoration and furniture rather tired.
Review 27:Nice people, position on seafront.
Review 28:Free parking
Review 29:Blood stains on the bedding
Review 30:Toilet. Location
Review 31:The room was cramped this year. Our expectations were a bit higher.
Review 32:Close to the beach. Not too far away from the motorway. Dogs are accepted
Review 33:Some room furniture was the worse for wear
Review 34:Slightly quirky hotel in a great location. The manager, Nicholas is friendly and accommodating.
Review 35:A lot of trafic-noise. Very easy to hear other guests (room and hallway).
Review 36:Close to the beach. Free Wifi.
Review 37:Disappointed no beaches which allowed dogs but to be fair think this is same all over France
Review 38:Comfortable quiet good access to beaches, restaurants etc
Review 39:Everything except the bed
Review 40:Not much
Review 41:Hard to find. Just fair accommodations.
Review 42:Price was good. Good view of the sea.
Review 43:out of the picturesque old town
Review 44:out of the less savoury parts of the old town
Review 45:Breakfast not worth the money
Review 46:Terrace had great view of sea staff friendly secure parking
Review 47:All perfect!
Review 48:Excellant accommodation and very friendly host when we arrived after a long journey.
Review 49:Lovely staff, great location.
Review 50:Small and smelly reception area. Parking area was poor and difficult to negotiate. It was very hot in the room but the Air con made it smell worse. The whole place was shabby, including the exterior.
Review 51:Nothing. We left.
Review 52:A/C not available so noise from trafic during most of the night. A little too far from the old city. Hotel starting to show it's age.
Review 53:Probabbly the best value breakfast of our week in France. Excellent for a beach holiday.
Review 54:This is classed as a 3* and more like a 2* - no bar, and really only a B&B - floors not washed daily, bed linen changes infrequent! - €9 pp for breakfast which would lost no more than €2 to purchase - staff friendly; however, in my view, hotel not up to a3* standard!
Review 55:Small Hotel
Review 56:Hotel sparse and lacked any character. I thought there was a bar but could see none. The restaurant was closed Sunday evening so we couldn't use it. There are only 3 or 4 rooms with any view of the sea. We had a side view which was better than none at all, but not what we were expecting. It was a long way out from Sete centre (half hour walk).
Review 57:Breakfast was better than expected.
Review 58:Back door key swipe didn't work and we were locked out on Xmas Eve as front door shut (as 'family holiday time' on Xmas Eve which is fine) but it was only 6.20pm and it took us an hour to raise someone to let us in. Very scary as very windy and stormy night. Very hard getting a park in Sete town and local restaurants all full just serving the locals as off season. Wouldn't stay here again as Montpellier only 30mins away and alot more choices.
Review 59:Good breakfasts served on tray in room if preferred. Nice location opposite the beach and good boardwalk along the sea front. Self help laundry just 10mins walk away.
Review 60:The balcony which was made of concrete ,me being not very tall when sitting down had trouble see over it, also the chair on the balcony were very uncomfortable and the drain on the balcony was filthy.
Review 61:Nice location , beach over the road from the hotel. Friendly staff and reasonable breakfast. Plenty of places to eat just around the corner and about 20-25 minutes walk into Sete along the sea front. Free parking plenty of spaces.
Review 62:Noise. One night we couldn't sleep due to noise outside.
Review 63:Direct by the beach with views out to sea. Separate garage for locking up the bikes without cost.
Review 64:The breakfast room wasn't welcoming. We used a cafe on the otherside of the road which was cheaper.
Review 65:The room had a balcony with a sea view. Free car parking. Air con.
Review 66:The conditioner wasn't too powerful and the temperature was too hot in the room.
Review 67:Very good nearby restaurant and beach. Very good to park a car in the hotel parking place.
Review 68:The rooms were very tired and smelled. Bathrooms were horrible. The part of town was seedy. Place should be totally renovated
Review 69:We did not like anything about the place.
Review 70:Faint smell of stale cigarette smoke in the reception area.
Review 71:Comfortable room with a seaview; just a few metres from the beach. Cafes and restaurants a few minutes walk away.
Review 72:When u walk into hotel there is a terrible smell of smoke. We didn't mind if it was basic as long as it was clean but it wasn't. There are no facilities with the hotel. We paid 208 for two nights and thought it was far too much for what we got. There is a Maritime hotel in Sete and after visiting would recommend people to stay there instead. Overall we were glad to be leaving.
Review 73:Hotel is right across the road from the beach.
Review 74:I would prefer an older and more varied environment.
Review 75:Nicely located for the beach, parking. Not plush, but fine for a family holiday, I expect. Food in the next door restaurant was excellent.
Review 76:The free WiFi of the hotel lacked security. Somebody hacked into ourcomputer and tried to use our url! Always take the computer off-lineafter use!
Review 77:The hotel design was a bit over the top 70s French Modern, butfunctional and comfortable. The location on the beach block was great, but entailed quite a bit of traffic noise.
Review 78:The bathroom was very clean but could do with updating
Review 79:We enjoyed our stay, the staff were very helpful, the room was very clean and we had a wonderful view. There was a good selection of dishes in the restaurant and our meal was well presented and very tasty
Review 80:The location was great we could walk out the door cross the street andwe were on the Mediterranean. We do not speak French and the staff inthe restuaurant didn't speak English but were so good at helpful usfigure out what to have for dinner. It was funny and we had a good timewith them and didn't get a bad thing to eat or bad wine.
Review 81:The room we stayed in was a little shabby. Paint needed freshening up, wall paper had marks on it high up and grout in bathroom needed re-doing
Review 82:Quiet location
Review 83:This hotel was everything we needed. Nice & clean & right opposite the beach. All you have to do is cross the road. The staff were very helful in advising us of how to get into town without taking the car as there was a festival happening & parking was impossible. The No. 9 bus runs about every 10 - 15 minutes along the road out front into Sete. Cost is €1 per person each way. Well worth is as it is not far by bus but too far for us to walk. Probably OK for the young & fit. Parking at the hotel was excellent. They lock the car park gate each night for added security.
Review 84:There was nothing to reduce our enjoyment.
Review 85:The manager/concierge was extremely friendly and got our stay off to a good start by his helpfulness. The place was relaxed and the staff friendly with a good 'turnround' time in getting rooms ready for change of occupancy. The room was comfortable, the air conditioning being very helpful in hot weather, and its location is wonderful - facing the beach and in a relaxing suburb of Sete. There is a superb restaurant adjoining the hotel, adding to the enjoyment.
Review 86:Hotel has big air-conditioning rooms 70's style decorated with refrigerator , individual terrace. Parking place in the yard which is closing during the nights. Easy access to the 25 km beaches between Sete and Cap d'Agde. By car 5 min to Supermarket Auchan and Village Center. For beach vacation, this hotel is definitely good choice!
Review 87:The hotel was very close to the Beach and the modern promenade
Review 88:Warm water on Sunday too late and left/right of water wrong.
Review 89:WiFi - perfect
Review 90:choice of music in restaurant
Review 91:really friendly staff, brilliant sea view, excellent restaurant
Review 92:Very friendly owner. Clean and tidy hotel. Great location next to beach.
Review 93:Tired and overpriced
Review 94:breakfast poor for money.
Review 95:Location superb and restaurant attached is very convenient and good.
Review 96:Cumfort conditions in relation to price
Review 97:Hardly anything. However, staff courtios and frienly
Review 98:Room not very clean
Review 99:The hotel is a bit tired.
Review 100:Very pleasant staff. Breakfast was good. Secure parking.
Review 101:This is no privacy on balcony because of the neightbors
Review 102:The staff was really nice and helpfull The location just next to the beach
Review 103:Bathroom could do with refreshing. Clean enough but a little tired.
Review 104:Friendly helpful staff, lovely location with seaview.
Review 105:liked the staff .....very clean....cleaners very good and helpful
Review 106:Proximity to beach and view on the sea. Hotel recently modernised.
Review 107:The hotel is crying out for a refurbishment. It looks dated and feels dated.
Review 108:The location was excellent, right by the beach.
