Reviews for Causeway tavern bed & breakfast
Review 1:We were a little disappointed that there was no food on offer in the evening. We could have gone directly back out to Bushmills and in hindsight should have stopped there for dinner before going to the B & B. The bar area was a little cold with an electric fire on the go however it did not really warm up the place.
Review 2:We really enjoyed the breakfast that came included in the B & B price. A typical cooked Irish breakfast that included everything you would want, after a choice of cereal and juice, tea or coffee and toast. Most delicious and it really set us up for the day! We also really enjoyed the crack with our host.
Review 3:Rooms as well as bathroom small. Price to high for that kind of hotel. Anyway for one night was okay.
Review 4:Breakfast was really very good. You can choose from 6 or 7 breakfast foods.
Review 5:The Tavern did not serve any food except for breakfast, you have to eat out for lunch and dinner
Review 6:The bar was handy downstairs, and the breakfast was great!
Review 7:The tavern is out of the way, it is advertised as a tavern with Bistro, but on arrival we were told there was no meals served. The hallway was littered with children's books and toys. A cupboard blocking the bathroom doorway made is hard to access easily. Wifi only available in one spot in the bar
Review 8:Breakfast was hot and with flavour.
Review 9:no evening meal
Review 10:All guests treated by the eccentric but lovable owner like long lost friends, great little pub with good mixture of locals and tourists made for a great atmosphere, fantastic breakfast, good facilities, proximity to Giants Causeway and other sites
Review 11:This is the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. How can theycharge stg105.00 For one night stay, it is beyond me. I have stayed inbetter hostels. It is a dark and dreary place and the staff are theworst I have ever come across, so rude, cold and unhelpful. On arrivalwe were given a small room with four single beds, there was 2 of us. Theplace is in need of upgrading and modernising and I would neverrecommend this accommodation.
Review 12:They don't serve food in the evening so you're stuck driving someplace else to get a bite to eat. We were also there on a Friday night and there wasn't much happening in the pub so it really turned out just to be a place to sleep for the night.
Review 13:Price was decent, the room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was pretty good.
Review 14:Lovely people and great room. The breakfast was excellent as was the location which is very near to the Giants causeway. The owner was very helpful on places to visit.
Review 15:Minor problem with the room which was sorted out very quickly
Review 16:Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a little problem with the room but staff sorted it out very quickly. Breakfast was fantastic. We got several tips at breakfast time about areas to visit
Review 17:Bed was far too firm for my liking.
Review 18:Location to see a lot of area attractions is excellent!! Staff is top notch friendly and willing to help guests with most items and requests.
Review 19:Wifi was out in the area.
Review 20:Very clean room and bathroom. Easy to find on Main Street. Great selection for breakfast. Wifi was out in the area not the fault of the property owners. Cute pink and green paint job and nice ambiance in the dining room.
Review 21:Wifi was only accessible in the bar and the nearest bar/restaurant for an evening meal was a drive from the Tavern. A comfortable chair in the room should also be provided, as the room as such was very much set up just for sleeping.
Review 22:The room for three adults was roomy with crisp clean bed-linen, comfortable beds and roomy bathroom. The breakfast menu was varied and well-prepared. It was close to the Giant's Causeway.
Review 23:Rooms are very small, with two people you are always bumping into each other. Bathroom was good size apart from the very tiny sink.
Review 24:Great location, great staff. Good night of entertainment on the Saturday with Hoggy singing.
Review 25:Breakfast - I ordered fruit and yogurt. the fruit plate was fine, but then I was brought a container of banana yogurt with chocolate corn flakes in the corner. the few cereals that were out on the table were all sugary types. the key wouldn't work to my room and I told the woman about it and she already knew it was a problem ( she didn't tell me when she took me to the room. We were going to stay 2 nights, but got out as soon as possible. I also had the feeling that she would have charged us less if we hadn't already booked it. Way overpriced - 50 British pounds per person, stacks of books on the hallway floor along with some toys. Hasn't been updated in many years.
Review 26:Location was fine but not near any restaurants so we had to drive somewhere else for dinner.
Review 27:we went on a Saturday night, with all intentions of having an early night with a long day ahead of us on the Sunday but around 10 ish loud music in the bar started right below our room, we had no intention of going down but around 12 had no choice as the noise was so bad, had a great night though and bar man was lovely.. Locals where lovely.. If you want somewhere quiet though wouldn't advice here.. If you want lively lovely locals deff go here!! Checking out time was a nightmare.. The woman who I can only assume was the owner was rude and ignorant.. We booked online and only read what we booked.. 2 adults + 1 child.. We didn't have child but this room said £55 and was cheapest available.. Didn't say anywhere that for an extra adult it was added expenses.. Tried to charge us over what had already been agreed online.. Single use to us meant one nights stay! Instead of trying to politely explain to us about the extra charges she was rude ignorant and not very nice, had she been more pleasant we would have been more inclined to just pay and be gone!!
Review 28:We loved the friendly welcome, the lovely bar man and another who I think was his dad. Very pleasant and helpful to all we needed.. Couldn't critasize them in the slightest.
Review 29:shared plenty of local tips/knowledge of the local area including places you might not have thought to visit in that area but are well worth a look. Very friendly & in a great location for getting around.
Review 30:-Property could definitely use some cleaning up, back garden a disaster and the pub restrooms stank and were running out of TP.
Review 31:-Friendliest proprietors around -Good location to causeway -Best B and B breakfast I've had anywhere
Review 32:There is not much activity in the bar or general area in the evening.
Review 33:We had a lovely time at the Causeway Tavern B&B. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms had been thoughtfully decorated and there were board games, books and extra toiletries in the corridor. The breakfast was good and the owner gave us helpful tips about visiting the area.
Review 34:Nothing!
Review 35:We just loved the homeliness, cosiness and character of this B&B, and how friendly and knowledgeable the staff were. We really enjoyed having a drink and chat in the pub at night and the fantastic breakfast and service in the morning. Would definitely go back!
Review 36:If you're without a vehicle the location is a bit far to walk to from town. The bed was very uncomfortable.
Review 37:We loved the breakfast and the friendly staff. Laughter filled the pub at night.
Review 38:The location was perfect for all the sight. Charlie was great he filled us with all the history of the area only for him we may have missed out on some fab places... Breakfast was yummy too we would 100% come back again
Review 39:a little old and rundown...small room, bed not so comfortable. but what is lacking in room and comfort was made up for by the friendly, extremely helpful family.
Review 40:wonderful, friendly family runs this tavern b&b.excellent breakfast.
Review 41:Horrible coffee. I think it was instant Nescafé put into a French press. Room was small but comfortable except temperature was much too hot for sleeping. We opened the window but very noisy due to rain and winds. A plain sheet rather than duvet would have been enough. Had to drive for dinner.
Review 42:Very clean. Young hosts very friendly and helpful. Huge breakfast.
Review 43:Rooms not properly cleaned, dust on the lapm above the bed, tv, etc. Spiders in 2 top corners of the room! Dirty showers too.
Review 44:Location, quite place, good breakfast.
Review 45:Felt a bit misled by thinking we had booked in Bushmills, we were in a very small village elsewhere, close by giants Causeway tho.
Review 46:Room was quiet, village was quiet
Review 47:Charlie is a darling through and through. He is the son of the owners and is a true fountain of knowledge of the local beauty spots and history in general. Michaela his mam and breakfast chef as well all round friendly and welcoming hostess has an establishment to be proud of one well worth visiting and stsying in again.
Review 48:Very poor wifi. We were in a back room and could only get it in the bar. Turned on heating overnight in September had to sleep with no blankets and the windows open. Warning this place is not actually in Bushmills itself and the village it is in has nowhere to eat an evening meal so you need to have eaten before you arrive.
Review 49:Quiet pub. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast
Review 50:This would be a lot better if meals were available. We looked for over an hour and finally ate outside a fish and chip shop in the cold. Even though Bushmills is close there are very few restaurants and none had availability. Need to plan in advance if you want to eat dinner.
Review 51:Location is good for tourists travelling around Ireland. Easy to find. Room was very clean and hotel was quiet even though they had a singer on the night we stayed.
Review 52:Loud "music" playing under our room until 1 o'clock I'm the morning. No "healthy" cereals, such as muesli, for breakfast. Bathroom door squeaked loudly.
Review 53:Room as described. Good cooked breakfast.
Review 54:There was no where to stand kettle while it was boiling. Water taps ran for a while so they are wasting a lot of water hot & cold also very noisy when taps pressed.
Review 55:Breakfast was excellent & the young man behind the bar was extremely helpful, also for giving directions & pointing out places of interest that would appeal to us.
Review 56:The room was very basic and fusty. The overall property was quite grim and smelly, likely due to the pub underneath. Our window view looked over a builders yard and scaffolding.
Review 57:The breakfast was very good. The location of the b and b was very close to all of the main tourist attractions.
Review 58:No evening meal. However the owner did say that other meals would be available when the current renovation work was complete.
Review 59:The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The room was clean and although basic had TV and kettle with tea/coffee, toilet and shower. The location was excellent for visiting all the sites of the North Antrim coast. The breakfast was very substantial and set you up for a days walking. The bar was well stocked and reasonably priced. I'd certainly go back and would recommend it to friends.
Review 60:Direction and address was not great, got lost in the fog and wasn't sure we would find it. Booking.com quoted me a price and when we checked out, the price was higher and paid the higher amount even tho I felt it wrong.
Review 61:The staff was great and full of useful info. Breakfast was awesome. Room was comfy and clean. B&B was very cute.
Review 62:Sullen staff. Not welcoming and one was drunk on our arrival and obviously hungover the following morning. Pricing on website misleading and over priced for quality of accommodation
Review 63:Breakfast and location
Review 64:When coming to the Causeway Coast, I had hoped to experience local flavor, and found just that at the Causeway Tavern Ba and B. Cheers to Michaela and her lovely sons, Charley and Oliver.
Review 65:Breakfast was top draw, staff were very friendly and knowledgable about the area. Room was spotless.
Review 66:Cleanliness poor. Coffee cups in room not clean. Room needs decorating and updating. Staff not very welcoming.
Review 67:Location
Review 68:Only 1 tea bag. Outside, the bar underneath and the hallway was very dreary.
Review 69:The room and bath room was lovely. Great shower.
Review 70:There were 4 huge spiders in the bathroom and lots of cobwebs. The room was actually dusty...
