Reviews for Bel And The Dragon-Churt
Review 1:One of the nicest hotels i've stayed at in a long time; and i visit many hotels. Staff that go out of their way to greet you and converse with you. Excellent food. The small touches like the complimentary whisky in the room. A great overall experience.
Review 2:Only let down was some of the restaurant service to be honest. Didn't quite feel staff were in control of restaurant enough, lots of hanging around the till chatting and very frustrating that restaurant drinks were not managed separately to the bar drinks meaning a good 5-10m wait for a drink. Also it's not great when your waitress doesn't know what 'Claret' is. Bit annoyed also that the bar was shut on a sat night for private function. No-one had forewarned us at all.
Review 3:Great location, lovely property and great food
Review 4:The room was very hot! We turned down the radiators & it improved but still v warm. We booked family room as we wanted to use the bed & sofa bed. It would have been better to have been asked on arrival if we wanted the sofa bed made up while we were at dinner rather than to be told that it would be done later as once dinner was finished my v tired son needed to sleep immediately. However we would def stay there again.
Review 5:V friendly staff, room delightful & breakfast delicious. Family room ideal for us. Bed v comfortable.
Review 6:venison sausages, would have like to have a choice..
Review 7:Really nice little touches, complementary sole gin in room, lovely fluffy towels. good selection of books to look at.
Review 8:Would have liked a blind at the bathroom window.
Review 9:Breakfast and evening meals were both excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable and clean.
Review 10:I don't think it's necessary to have piped music in all communal areas.
Review 11:Comfortable rooms with individual touches and the complementary drinks were welcoming. Great food with quality produce and friendly staff.
Review 12:Lack of mirrors in bedroom for hairdryer and makeup purposes. Screen for bathroom window. Homely books etc on shelves nice touch but they gather dust and need to be checked regularly
Review 13:Extra touches in bedroom and breakfast room. Attempt to create informal country house works well .
Review 14:The only negative was that the guests in the room opposite came in very late and were noisy, but that could happen at any hotel.
Review 15:The atmosphere at the place is very relaxed and welcoming from when you first step in. The room was really comfortable with lots of great homely touches.
Review 16:Room location dreadful, adjacent to kitchen extract fan. That went off at 23.15, bout a kitchen alarm them came on at 01.15. Awful night's sleep.
Review 17:Room facilities good.
Review 18:Avoid being by the internal fire doors, which swing and bang shut on springs whenever used! And particularly try to avoid being on the same floor as the wedding party guests who pitch up in the early hours, rolling drunk and take delight in banging said fire doors and their own room doors, which also fail to close quietly!
Review 19:Great location with friendly staff and amazing food! Beautifully designed throughout with quality interiors and lovely, cosy bedrooms. Thoughtful details such as the complimentary beverage 'nook', and Sipsmiths damson vodka in the room!
Review 20:We had to leave!
Review 21:Fabulous interior finishing. Very calm and soothing colours and trim. I changed my reservation from another nearby hotel when I saw the photographs on the Bel and the Dragon website. I was not disappointed! Very comfortable and staff were most accommodating, courteous and kind. We'll be back.
Review 22:Wifi was poor and with no phone reception it's vital to have this right. Bar ran out of limes, so limited choice of cocktails somewhat. Food was only average in the restaurant.
Review 23:The staff were curtious and friendly. Relaxed atmosphere. Wine not overly marked up.
Review 24:The coffee/tea facility is inadequate. It is a Nespresso machine with no instructions, no water and no decaf coffee. No tea other than builders tea. Kettle would be better with a better selection of tea and coffee.
Review 25:The pub is lovely, drinks not overpriced. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff helpful. Complimentary whiskey was a nice touch.
Review 26:Just absolutely nothing!
Review 27:In one word: WOW! I'm normally extremely critical against hotels, but this hotel has it all. 2 years ago completely renovated; beautiful rooms designed in detail. The breakfast was prepared by a chef cook, very delicious. And the hotel is located in a very quiet wood area. It's one of those hidden pearls with a owner who wants to give you a great experience. (Did I also mentioned the complementary gin and whiskey in the rooms?!)
