Reviews for Guesthouse Kellia

Review 1:Stay there and you will get to know what the Greek hospitality and a good Greek breakfast mean. Nice square in front of the building with the sea view and sound of waves striking against the wall beneath. Very helpful stuff. Amazing island!

Review 2:We had a wonderful time--large lovely room, large lovely breakfast, lovely hosts--a time to remember. We knew we had to walk in so that was no problem. Our host met us at the central plata and took us to the guesthouse where we were welcomed with wine. We were sorry not to have stayed longer.

Review 3:Room a bit small but still ok

Review 4:Super kind staff who offered to carry our luggage from the castle entrance, welcomed us with traditional drinks and even offered to bring us breakfast in our room when one day we woke up two hours after the end of the breakfast due to hangover and partying :) great location, beachfront, huge garden! Would definitely stay here again!

Review 5:The bathroom of our room would need a bit of renovation.

Review 6:This is probably the best location in Monemvasia, the owners are very friendly and breakfast is abundant and more than enough. Go to this B&B if you plan to visit Monemvasia!

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:Location is great. Like going back in time. The room was renovated well. Very comfortable and a great breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice. Friendly staff and free welcome drink and wine tasting.

Review 9:Bed mattresses are a little hard.

Review 10:Bit of a trek to arrive there, but only due to roadworks preventing us from walking on the seafront road. We arranged for a porter on our departure, well worth the very low price! Rooms were clean and nicely decorated, the guest house is quiet, and the carafe of wine on arrival is a very nice touch. Owners very pleasant and friendly. Continental style breakfast, but very adequate and with fresh local products.

Review 11:Sketchy WiFi connection in room but understandable within thick stone walls.

Review 12:Lovely family run hotel within the old city walls. Friendly staff. Beautiful breakfast with ingredients from their mainland farm. "Found" by one of the owners as we wheeled our cases along the main thoroughfare and escorted to the hotel. Clean comfortable large room. Complimentary carafe of wine.

Review 13:None.

Review 14:The inn is run by a very friendly family and their wonderful breakfast is all fresh from their farm. A carafe of local wine in the room when we arrived was very much appreciated.

Review 15:everything was excellent .. nothing to dislike.. actually.

Review 16:i was very happy with the management, very warming people and very caring especially mr. takis, ms maria & mr. mihalis.. i just love staying at Kellia with my gf.. its very peaceful and very beautiful accommodation in romantic island of Monemvasia.. will see them again soon in june... :P

Review 17:The shower was awful and nothing to prevent a flood of the bathroom floor. Inadequate lighting. These things are easy to fix.

Review 18:Super historic building. Lovely location of course. Very nice owners, at the hotel and the 'shop' A must to visit. V nice welcome carafe of wine.

Review 19:Very difficult to reach at the end of the old town especially with luggage. Room with 2 bedrooms was not very practical with only 2 wooden chairs inside and two foldable other ones, no socket in the bathroom, no air-con in living room and a tiny balcony with not enough space. The kitchen area is a bad joke, also a shower curtain was missing. There are better options to stay in the old town.

Review 20:Friendly staff, helped a lot in transporting the luggage from the gate to the guesthouse.

Review 21:Nothing other than the trek with luggage in the heat, but that cannot be helped and is worth it, especially with the welcome wine :)

Review 22:We had an amazing stay Kellia. It really complimented what was an incredible weekend in an incredible town.

Review 23:Nothing.

Review 24:Monemvasia a must stop if you are travelling in the Peloponees and Guesthouse Kellia offered a wonderfull stay. It is situated on the furthest part of the old town, so nice and quiet. Lovely breakfast under the trees and the hosts were very friendly and welcoming. They arranged a porter to carry our luggage as cars are not allowed in the old city - a great help.

Review 25:Slight downside was the lack of wifi (though that can be quite nice if you want to go offline on your holiday!) and the bed - the mattress was very hard and for those suffering from back or neck pain it may be good to keep in mind. We slept quite well regardless. Keep in mind that Monemvasia is a no-car town and Kellia is located at the far end of it, furthest away from the town gate - there are porters available but lighter luggage will make your life easier.

Review 26:We loved just about everything about this property. The owners were super friendly, the location stunning, the room charming and the breakfast delicious. The owner's wife also owns a produce shop on the main street of the town, and she's simply lovely. They produce their own jam and breakfast includes produce from their farm.

Review 27:The beds weren't great and the wifi patchy, but to be honest, this really didn't matter when you consider you are staying in a 600 year old monastery.

Review 28:We got a great welcome at this family run Guesthouse and the location was just perfect. Beautiful views of monemvasia. The breakfast was a real treat with the ingredients coming from the family farm. They couldn't do enough to help us. Couple of tips for you - this guesthouse is at the far end of the Kastro and you will need help with your luggage, so phone ahead and they will get one of the porters to help you. You will need to park your car in the free parking at the bottom of the hill and walk up - it will take you 15-2 minutes.

Review 29:There is no hotel parking and recommend when you arrive go to the top and leave your bags with your partner/fellow travelers and find a car park where you can. The WIFI kept on cutting in and out with the thick walls but wasn't a real problem.

Review 30:As soon as we arrived we where exhausted from the drive. When we went to the information/shop, the lady told us to leave our bags and they will be delivered in our room. She showed us where our hotel was, which was clearly marked through the narrow streets. We were greeted with a lovely gentleman who showed and explained everything to us and then showed us to our room.

Review 31:Everything was perfect

Review 32:We had the best welcome we've ever had. The owners could not do enough for us: so helpful and friendly. The room was fantastic as well.

Review 33:We'd expect a more creative breakfast

Review 34:The staff was great and welcoming. The location is really amazing even though there are only few rooms with see view.

Review 35:Great location, away from busy road. View on small square opposite a church which was very quite almost like private. Amazing staff! Everything just perfect!

Review 36:Nice setting of the guesthouse in the well preserved/restored old town of Monemvasia. Very friendly and helpful owner and his family, great view from the beautiful room, good breakfast.

Review 37:Maria, her husband and her son are true darlings, friendly and helpful. They enjoy their business and it shows! Guesthouse Kellia is set in a beautiful location in the hart of Monemvasia castle. The view from our balcony was beautiful. Breakfast is excellent: home made with products from their farm. Our stay was perfect but too short!

Review 38:To leave after three days...

Review 39:This is a family business, with the best things a family business can offer: warm reception, very friendly dealing with guests, extremely pleasant environment... It was the best breakfast I`ve ever had in a trip, a wonderful greek breakfast carefully prepared by Maria and Thakis, each day different. Since they have their own farm in the surroundings of Monemvasia, many products like jam, olive oil honey and fruits come from their property or from the neighbors. Well, and the location... It`s a paradise! I want to stay living at Kellia!

Review 40:Nothing not to like.

Review 41:Warm welcome on arrival and complimentary wine in our room. Friendly owner and staff, excellent breakfasts. Spotless and comfortable room. Thoughtful gift of a bottle of oil from their own olives upon leaving.

Review 42:Michael greeted us with a warm welcome and wine. Breakfast was traditional plentiful and excellent. Monevasia is a must see for anyone visiting the southern Peloponnese

Review 43:Everything about the hotel - the staff who gave us an upgrade to a two bedroom suite, the free carafe of wine. The breakfast was delicious, sitting eating it on the terrace with the view of the little chapel and the sea was unforgettable.

Review 44:A fine example of Greek hospitality. Very welcoming, very warm and available. The scenery is just amazing... quiet and calm. The room was comfortable and cosy. Very satisfied with our stay. Would definitely recommend.

Review 45:excellent location, very clean and comfortable hotel. Exceptional staff, very friendly and willing to assist you and make you feel like home! We'll visit this hotel again for sure!

Review 46:The stay was amazing: the hotel is in the old monastery, room has a very nice bed and stylish walls, breakfast contains all fresh locally grown products by the owners, the staff is always smiling, welcoming and give you nice advices.. What else would you need for a perfect stay in Monemvasia? :)

Review 47:Michael was extremely friendly. He welcomed us with our little daughter on Easter with a drink and eggs in a historical room downstairs in a remarkably fine restored guesthouse. Breakfast was top. And the wonders of Monemvasia came over us...

Review 48:There is not enough parking space on the bridge connecting the castle with the new city, so you have to either wait for the shuttle to the castle or walk. However, the owners were very kind and eager to offer us help with the luggage.

Review 49:Staying in the castle city of Monemvasia is a unique experience worth having especially during Easter/spring. The owners of Kellia are so hospitable and friendly providing us with info and itineraries. Breakfast was freshly made of local produce and the home made lemon preserve made by the owner herself was something quite special! The access to the quest house is via stairs, but that did not bother us because it is such a special place for someone to be. Quiet and comfortable room with an amazing sea view ! We will surely return!

Review 50:Very poor WiFi connection, fireplace could not start, the air-condition could not compensate the humidity (normal for Monemvasia at that period).

Review 51:Position position position!! Excellent staff and service, very special home made breakfast. Very beautiful apartment.

Review 52:Very pretty rooms, amazing location, amazing breakfast home made products from the farm, very friendly and helpful the owners! The best place in monemvasia

Review 54:lovely little boutique hotel inside the castle. The owners were so warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. we highly recommend it and will definitely stay there again.

Review 55:Everything was in place... The host (Takis) a real gentleman, ready to help us on everything. We' ve enjoyed our stay drinking some of the best Greek wine made in Monemvasia, right by the place where one of the best poets of Greece (and world known) Yannis Ritsos was born. We've had an amazing time. We recommend Kellia to anyone without a second thought...

Review 56:The place is really at the other end of the castle. Very difficult to maneuvere if you have large suitcases but that's the price to pay for the secludness and serenity.

Review 57:The owners are very thoughtful. Arrived late, after 11pm, and they still wait up. Maria and husband are good hosts. Personalized service. Really no complaints.

Review 58:The hotel is in the castle, which is so cool. Since the hotel is a distance from the car park, which is free, the hotel staff come and help you with your luggage, both on arrival and departure. The room was magnificent with a bottle of the house wine waiting for us on arrival. The bed was large and comfortable, there was a sitting area with a large flat screen TV. The room over looked a patio, where I enjoyed tea in the morning. Breakfast was homemade and all local foods, excellent. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I felt like we were staying with friends that just happened to live in a castle. The location was amazing and my husband and I are looking forward to a return visit.

Review 59:When we check in a bottle of wine waited for us in the room. When we checked out a little bottle of organic olive oil was given to as as a farewell present! Moreover the hotel is in a great area and is the born place of Yannis Ritsos, the very famous Greek poet!

Review 60:We loved everything about this guesthouse. The location is fantastic in a quiet but central place to explore the old town. The breakfast was delicious. We didn't want to leave!

Review 61:Former monastery! Good location, through the main town, with a nice seating area in front of the guesthouse which gives you a feeling of space. Welcome carafe of wine on arrival. Small room, but sufficient. Helpful owners, bought my souvenirs from the hotel gift shop in the town. Ample breakfast served in a delightful dining room, all stone and wood-very medieval. Warm and friendly staff.

Review 62:We had wonderful stay at the Kelia. The rooms felt warm and welcoming, the staff was helpful and accommodating, and the location was perfect. Overall our stay was magical.

Review 63:I love the fact that this hotel is not too close to the main road in the old town, which can get pretty loud at night from the traffic and loud music from the bars. It is the unique place for a romantic getaway. Great location, great view and wonderful accommodations. The room was very clean and comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was unexpectedly delicious. The owners and their son were very accommodating and quick to satisfy every request which made our stay at Kellia even better. We can't wait to visit Greece again and especially Monemvasia.

Review 64:The location of this little, boutique hotel is very good, inside the castle but not on the busy path so quiet as well. Service was excellent, staff and owner were very friendly and always helpful. The room was also very nice, although nothing fancy. All in all, a great choice and excellent value for money if you are visiting Monemvasia and the castle.

Review 65:Our room (number 12) was supposed to be a double superior. However, it was small, dark, hot, not space to put our stuff (spread on the floor). The bathroom was too tiny and hot, creating much discomfort

Review 66:Friendly and nice staff Location Style of the house Breakfast

Review 67:We stayed here for 2 nights and it was perfect choice for our Monemvasia visit! The beautiful architecture and interior of the guesthouse rounds up the magic flair of the entire city by giving you all the conformity you need to enjoy your stay! The location is great, located on one of the small city squares with beautiful old church in front, which is straight at the boarder of the city wall, so you can enjoy amazing sea and mainland views just within few steps from your room door, with the view over entire old city at your back! The room was nice and clean, wi-fi worked spotless. The stuff was very friendly, doing their best to make us enjoy our stay - we got as gift a bottle of local wine on our arrival, for which this region is famous, and the freshly homemade breakfast with local delicacies definitely rounded up the entire experience! Also, they can organize free carry-service to get your luggage to the guesthouse from the city entrance, which is a great help if you don't travel with backpack only. If you want to make a break from strolling around the streets of this beautiful city there is a small rocky beach directly at the city wall and you can reach it within 3 minutes walk from the guesthouse, by following the stairs which will take you down to the sea - it's a bit hidden, so make sure you don't miss it! We are definitely returning to Kellia!

Review 68:It's not good. Not even excellent. It's a really fantastic place. Believe me, I've seen a lot of, I'm kind of "genius")) traveller here. To live in a XVI century building with modern amenities and to feel perfectly at home (thanks to the hosts -- Takis & Maria Papadakis), it sounds like a Mastercard advertisement, but it's really something money can't buy..

Review 69:Breakfast was rather poor: two rolls eachbwith either feta or honey, the coffee was weak , cold eggs, no fruit.

Review 70:The location, the interior design, the friendliness of the staff.

Review 71:Probably our fault, but it wasn't a good idea trying to take our car to this hotel- very difficult to drop bags and navigate the streets to find a parking lot. Rooftop bar was closed at night, which was also disappointing.

Review 72:Location was good, easy to explore.

Review 73:The location was nice and quiet. The staff was outstanding, they made us feel like we were members of the family. The traditional Greek breakfast was very great! I would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 74:the heating and the facilities in the restroom can be improved.

Review 75:super location and view. great service. amazing breakfast.

Review 76:Toiletries could be of better quality.

Review 77:Very friendly staff. We really felt welcome. Great home made breakfast.

Review 81:Very nice guest house And very nice hospitality. Strongly recommended

Review 82:The staff are great, the hotel is beautiful and the breakfast is the best ever. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it without hesitation.

Review 83:Family run business, very nice staff

Review 84:Unique design, quiet location but within a walking distance to nightlife. Nice people. Clean. Great for romantic weekend or for a trip with friends.

Review 85:Our return this year has once again been a fabulous visit.

Review 86:Everything was nice.

Review 87:place.

Review 88:The location is excellent....loved the pool area. The staff are amazing and the suites are simple and beautiful.

Review 89:Beautiful square shared with church, another small hotel and the ocean. A quiet corner of the car-free castle city.

Review 90:Amazing view.

Review 92:-The friendliness of the staff -Tasty breakfast with local products - location

Review 95:nothing

Review 96:Very nice and cosy. Marvelous city. Great hosts. Excellent breakfast.

Review 97:location

Review 98:Poor wifi phone signal coverage

Review 99:Amazing staff hospitality

Review 100:The Hotel was special but the owners and their sons made it Fabulous.

Review 101:Nothing!

Review 102:Beautiful setting with great views out to sea and up to the rock and upper town. Staff warm and friendly and do everything possible to make your stay memorable. Breakfast is an absolute treat.

Review 103:Wonderful location (also within the town, central yet away from most touristic areas; near the Portello access to the sea), attention of the owners ("welcome wine", great breakfasts on the terrace with a view on the sea...).

Review 104:Good view of location which is good to relax with very kindly friendly and helpfully owner who provide very good gift --welcome wine. The rooms are clean and furnished with very good taste. it worth to choice the place.

Review 105:Staying in the Castle is definitely the right idea. The hotel was clean, comfortable, close to the sea side (not the beach though, no beaches on the rock, have to drive a bit for that. closest is 10 mins drive). Staff was super friendly and breakfast was delicious!

Review 106:The bathroom was small and not very convenient. No shower curtain, wet bathroom floor during our whole stay. The sea view was very limited.

Review 107:Great location, very friendly and welcoming owners. View of a small white typical Greek church from our window. Good breakfast with local products, served on the terrace. Great view of the town from the square outside the guesthouse.

The Fine Print

Please note that Monemvasia is a traditional settlement where no cars are allowed and the property is accessible via stairs.
