Reviews for Highbury
Review 1:Wi-fi was poor even in public area (breakfast room) which was also very cold to sit and work in evening (fine in morning).
Review 2:Excellent breakfast, nice room, great value.
Review 3:No en suite ,, hotel cold
Review 4:There was confusion about my reservation upon check in, it did get resolved. The room was cold in the early evening I asked for the heating to be put only to be told it was on a timer. I stayed in room 10 which did not have an en suite ,, disappointing in this day and age. Very basic hotel quite clean , in a good location and very good value for money with a nice breakfast
Review 5:The bed in our room creaked every time you sat on it, and turned over!
Review 6:The position of the house, the area, the value for money. The breakfast was amazing. The people.
Review 7:The gentleman who met us at the door was very abrupt and couldn't wait to get away after opening the door to our the room
Review 8:The waiting staff at breakfast and the breakfast itself.
Review 9:Everything was fabulous! The staff were amazing and very tentative, the breakfast was great and they cooked what you wanted. I would definitely return
Review 10:smoky ashtray in the entrance not a nice smell
Review 11:Location and being left alone! Everything we needed nice view from the window no fuss Prompt breakfast
Review 12:There is no separate lounge/sitting room, just the breakfast room. Not a problem for a short visit.
Review 13:Good location, very close to cardigan town centre. Friendly welcome, comfortable and clean. Value for money.
Review 14:would be nice to have breakfast a little later as i was on holiday. That said service at breakfast was excellent.
Review 15:very close to town centre, good facilities. very comfortable bed and they now have wi-fi so that was a bonus
Review 16:My external bathroom/toilet was tiny, everything crammed into a space not much bigger than a cupboard.
Review 17:Quiet and comfortable. Good breakfast. Value for the money.
Review 18:There was no safety guard on top bunk of children's bed.
Review 19:Our room was clean tidy and well presented and had everything required for a comfortable stay. If in the area would stay again.
Review 20:Not enough time to explore the area! Nothing bad about the Highbury
Review 21:Staff could not be more helpful and friendly. I was a little dubious after reading a couple of bad reviews but loved our three night stay! I would recommend The Highbury!
Review 22:The Highbury was one of 5 that I stayed in on my recent travels, and set the bar very high in comparison, not only to those other 4 B&Bs, but to most that I ever stayed in. I felt as if I had arrived at a small hotel rather than a guest house. The large house, which is just a few minutes walk from the town center, is lovely and is very spacious. I received a warm welcome and was shown to an excellent, large single room. The room was clean and comfortable. Tea/coffee making facilities were provided, as well as a TV. There was a computer table and even an armchair, which added to the overall comfort of the room. The room was nicely presented, being decorated in a traditional/cottage style. The, non-ensuite, private shower room was very good. Shower gels etc were supplied and the modern electric shower worked perfectly. Breakfast was served in a delightful conservatory and was excellent. The self selection area provided a varieity of cereals, fruit, fruit juices, yogurts, croissants, toast and crumpets. There was also a good choice of cooked food to choose from on the menu. I had the full Welsh breakfast one morning and the smoked haddock on another - both were delicious. The service was efficient and friendly. One of the best guest houses I have stayed in at this price. Fully recommended. Room Tip: Rooms at the front face the road, which isn't too busy at night. My room was at the rear, and was very quiet.
Review 23:Excellent location, centre of town easy walking distance. Friendly helpful owners operate a clean comfortable property giving outstanding value for money.
Review 24:Room was not en suite although there was a bathroom just outside and as far as I could tell there was no one else using it.
Review 25:Reasonably priced. Breakfast served at a convenient time.
Review 26:We were warmly greeted on arrival and our rooms were very cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was enjoyed in the glassed in dining room and was served with a smile and friendly conversation.
Review 27:Separate shower room from room was a pain, but knew about this at time of booking. Therefore reflected in the reasonable price. Parking spaces are a bit tight, had to reverse out onto a main road.
Review 28:Great advice for where to eat, all within walking distance. Excellent breakfast.
Review 29:A little chilly in evenings and first thing in the morning with central heating turned off. Rather limited car parking meant almost in an altercation with another guest .
Review 30:Good location, car parking, lovely restaurant in a large front conservatory, comfortable spacious rooms
Review 31:There was a problem with the heating - so it was a bit chilly in the morning.
Review 32:Room was very comfotable. There was a place to hang things up, an armchair, kettle and drinks, TV and radio.
Review 33:Big room with separate shower area Comfortable bed Freshly cooked breakfast served early (7.30) Very helpful landlady - Knew which pubs had pool tables Good value
Review 34:The tv in our room didn't work properly (room 5) we couldnt change the channels and then it just seemed to switch off all together which was a bit of a pain. The bunk beds are designed for older children and the top bunk didn't have a roll bar to prevent falling out on either side so we eneded up putting our 6 and 3 year old both in the bottom bunk.
Review 35:Found it no problem using sat nav, parking is fairly limited and a bit tight but its free so thats good! Staff were lovely and friendly, room was kitted out perfectly to accommodate for our 14 mnth old boy and 2 younger children (6 and 3). Breakfast was fantastic and served promptly and hot. Highchairs available for babies was a bonus too.
Review 36:No WiFi here was a big disappointment (should have checked before I booked, I just assumed it would be there !!)
Review 37:Nice room (no.2) recently refurbished with paint. Good breakfast. Very good value for money
Review 38:Making breakfast available a little later e.g. until 9.30 or 10.0 would be nicer.
Review 39:Comfortable, clean, good breakfast in a good location minutes walk from town centre. Just the job for an overnight stay to watch Dr Feelgood give the usual high octane gig at the Cellar Bar.
Review 40:The only downside was that the times of the breakfast 7.30-9.00am Monday - Friday and 8-9am Saturday and Sunday, would prefer a later breakfast as when you're away. Most hotels now serve up to 10am and check out is later as most people like later breakfast when away. But not a problem as everything else was so good.
Review 41:Very friendly staff made you feel welcome and very helpful. I would recommend this B & B to anyone of any age. Breakfast excellent lovely and one of best breakfasts we have every had, better than some 5 star hotels, good quality food. Restaurant not open this time of year but I'm sure the food would be good. Would definitely stay again if visiting Cardigan.
Review 42:No wifi and there is no 3G. Parking is limited but there is parking around the corner.
Review 43:Good size room and a decent breakfast, I'm a vegan and they were very accommodating. Good location in the town.
Review 44:The hotels web page stated they served supper in the restaurant but when I enquired they didn't know what I was talking about and said they never served meals other than breakfast.
Review 45:The layout is poor, up steps, down steps, up steps again to get to room. Mattresses need replacing. Staff could have been friendlier. Beware no wi-fi.
Review 46:The location was within walking distance of Cardigan, but not much was open when we were there. Breakfast room is nice.
Review 47:Nothing
Review 48:Very friendly family run hotel at which we have stayed twice previously. Very welcoming staff and a fantastic breakfast. Hope to go again in the not too distant future
Review 49:We had a twin room: one of the beds was as had as stone, the other had a worn out structure that made me sink. Cleanliness in the room was very poor: sticky surfaces all around (night table, tea tray, tea cups, etc.), dust everywhere (especially on the radiator that is just next to the beds at centimetres from our faces...) and spider webs hanging from the ceiling. The bathroom too was not very clean, and in need of some refurbishing. Towels were very, very worn out. The room window overlooks an appalling backstreet scenario with ruined buildings. For all these reasons, the price was not at all fair.
Review 50:The B&B is located near the town centre, and has a precious parking lot. The room was large, nearly an apartment, and quiet. Breakfast room is beautiful and the food is good.
Review 51:First room offered was awful decor but fortunately able to swap into another. Breakfast basic, would have had more choice at local bistro
Review 52:Very close to Cardigan centre, friendly reception
Review 53:I enjoy staying at Highbury because you're always guaranteed a very warm welcome and the location is perfect for me when visiting the town and staying overnight.
Review 54:Breakfast was very limited and not consistent service. 1st day staff pleasant and helpful. 2nd day staff disinterested and unhelpful. Very limited cereals or healthier option. My beautiful citrine and diamond ring taken out of a box on the dressing table in the room. Cheaper costume jewellery left behind.
Review 55:Nice room.
Review 56:I never quite mastered the shower (Room 7), but not so important to me.
Review 57:Friendly and helpful staff, efficient service at breakfast time, (important for us as we were attending the Baha'i Summer School in Llangrannog.), the availability of vegan food.
Review 58:I rated cleanliness as fair because we stayed for 5 nights and our sheets were not changed during the stay, staff came in to make beds but I would have expected sheets to be changed
Review 59:Lovely and clean, very white bedding, clean carpets, we had a family room which was two rooms one with bunk beds the other a double bed.
Review 60:Attitude of staff at brekfast was a bit tricky and only open for 1 hr. Wifi owls have been nice.
Review 61:The style of the rooms was lovely and the beds were really Comfortable. Big spacious room. Great spot, good price.
Review 62:All good!
Review 63:As a single traveller I was allocated a large double bedroom. Towels changed everyday Friendly approachable owner/manager Relaxed atmosphere, good value.
Review 64:Very creaky bed but to be fairit was comfortable.
Review 65:nice old fashioned decor with a more modern but tasteful appearance to the room - tasty filling breakfast - a peaceful night's sleep - well placed for walking to town - pleasant staff who speak Welsh as well as English.
Review 66:Some of the decor was a little dated but not really a big issue for us.
Review 67:Family room was very generously sized; almost like a small flat. The girls who worked in the morning were warm and welcoming.
Review 68:Not enough parking at the front of the hotel. There was a notice informing us there was extra parking, but not any written instructions as to how to get to it.
Review 69:The rooms were comfortable Food and service very good staff friendly
Review 70:The "private" bathroom/toilet was also used by other guests and I did hear one of the staff directing someone to it at breakfast. Pendre is rather rundown and there is a lack of nice restaurants for an evening meal.
Review 71:Excellent breakfast, good position for town centre, good price.
Review 72:Bathroom (room 2) was really not nice. I would not book this room again although I may book this Venue again, perhaps.....
Review 73:Staff were good. Breakfast was food. Room was just about okay.
Review 74:nothing to say
