Reviews for The Captain's House
Review 1:The facilities in the room were superb and every small detail to make it a wonderful stay had been thought through, including the provision of a fridge, and a picnic kit! The room and bathroom were spotless. Rob and Sheila were most welcoming.
Review 2:Self check in is excellent idea, adds charm and magic to the trip.Reserved parking space was an excellent touch.Beautiful room in vintage style "Old kind England"
Review 3:No sea views - didn't worry us but others might be disappointed,
Review 4:Lovely, large clean room, beautifully decorated. easy parking (out of season), 5 mins walking to town centre, great location.
Review 5:Hot water was only just hot Tv sound was muffled and adjustment very sensitive.
Review 6:Big comfy bed Very very clean room Spotless bathroom Fridge in room Owners helpful but unobtrusive Massive bonus of a free car park pass close by.
Review 7:Conveniently placed in centre of town but with free parking. Comfortable bed not the usual rock hard slab found in many hotels. Very nicely decorated and well appointed with all necessary facilities, excellent bathroom hot water.
Review 8:The room was pleasant, well-equipped and everything worked well. Very comfortable bed and the temperature of the room could be easily adjusted (the evenings were getting cooler). There was lots of information about Dartmouth and what we could do there. This included useful information in the room about where to buy breakfast - clearly important as breakfast is not provided. It would be helpful to have some addresses and a map of the location of those recommended.
Review 9:The hosts are helpful and friendly and understand how to make stay more comfy. for example providing a fridge/paper plates. The rooms are large, fresh and clean.
Review 10:Central with car park just a few minutes walk from accommodation. Property recently refurbished to a high standard. Rob & Sheila very helpful without being intrusive. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 11:Refurbished to a very high standard - sympathetically decorated to match the age of the house with great bathroom. Permit parking arrangement excellent
Review 12:We enjoyed our stay, especially the comfy bed and luxurious shower. The Captain's House is on a quiet road away from the hubbub but in easy walking distance to the carpark and town centre.
Review 13:Very efficient self check in. Room was clean and modern. Ensuite shower and good toiletries provided. Fridge in room with fresh milk. Parking permit was really useful. also liked that it was room only and no need for having breakfast at a set time.
Review 14:Room and bathroom quite small; View not very good; No towel rails;
Review 15:Very clean and fresh decor, linen & towels; Really nice (and plentiful) toiletries; Convenient location for town centre and quayside; Friendly hosts; Fridge with fresh milk and bottled water provided; Free wi-fi; Parking permit good value
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Everything, you couldn't ask for a better location. Your just off the Main Street so you don't get the traffic noise but you're a minute walk from the water. The CH was clean and comfy and a pleasure to be in. The owners were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 18:They don't do breakfast in the morning, which wasn't an issue for me, but for others it may be a disadvantage
Review 19:Location was excellent Room was large and bed was super comfy The tea and coffee tray had a teapot instead of just mugs
Review 20:There is nothing to critical. If you really have to name it. Might be the seagulls, they are noisy
Review 21:Good location. Walk distance to everywhere. You will find everything you need. Friendly hosts.
Review 22:Nothing to report.
Review 23:The location of Captain's House was excellent. Just a few minutes walk and you are by the River Dart, and close to town. Rob and Sheila were wonderful hosts. The house was recently refurbished, with lovely décor, but still kept its character. Bed was comfy. We couldn't have picked a nicer place to stay.
Review 24:The only thing I'd say was a slight issue was the privacy of the bathroom. Being surrounded by buildings and neighbours with windows of relative height, We got a little bored of shutting and opening the blind whenever we wanted to use the facilities. In the end we settled on hanging a towel across one of the bars that went across the window so not to shut out the natural light and not to have to switch the bathroom light on and off constantly.
Review 25:The room was lovely, it was very comfortable and stylish. Although the only views were of surrounding properties the building is located in an ideal spot just a few minutes walk from the north embankment and with no steep incline on the return. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room also had an info folder, full of both helpful and trivial knowledge about the hotel and Dartmouth itself. Also there was a mini fridge which was helpful was storing drinks and snacks in. All in all a pleasure to stay at The Captain's House and would definitely stay again.
Review 26:The Captains house is in a perfect location, a few steps away from the marina and the shops/restaurants/bar. It is extremely clean, powerful showers and comfortable beds. Breakfast is not an option which keeps price down you free to chose where to eat. Superb.
Review 27:Everything see above for comments.
Review 28:Everything was perfect. No criticism at all. Very close to Dartmouthtown centre. The owners were extremely polite and friendly.
Review 29:Found it un unusual to arrive with no human greeting, but it is a b & b with no receptionist, fair enough...
Review 30:room and everything immaculate and great breakfast thank you... Prior to arrival good comms via text and emails re how to find it and parking advice.

Review 34:This bed and breakfast hotel is lovely!!! Breakfasts excellent!! Beds really comfy and clean. Owners lovely and make you very welcome. And only a few minutes walk to the harbour front. We'll recommend.
Review 35:Nothing not to like.
Review 36:Centrally located and we were made very welcome by the friendly owners. Comfortable and clean room, good wifi and very tasty cooked breakfasts. Town centre, river, Naval College all just a short walk away. Highly recommended - we will definitely hope to return.
Review 37:Not double glazed (very old building so understand why) so quite noisy - ditto creaky floorboards from room above. Mattresses rather soft. Décor in places a little tired but I understand it must be a very challenging building to maintain. TV limited number of channels although all main ones were there.
Review 38:Lovely large room, well decorated with very nice soft furnishings. Duvet thin but lovely thick bedspread so offered flexibility (plus blankets in cupboard if needed). Excellent breakfast. Five minutes walk to centre of Dartmouth, or one minute to riverside. Friendly host. Very flexible keypad entry system allowing arrival without hosts needing to be in - ideal arrangement for small b and b (note this is emailed to you so do check your email shortly before arrival. Mine was a last minute booking so only by luck I checked the night before arrival and saw the instructions re the keypad number I needed to use).
