Reviews for The Bijou

Review 1:Excellent, we stayed on new years eve. We were greated with a friendly welcome. Our room was clean and in a nice and quiet area just five minutes from the town centre and even though we forgot to claim it, free prosecco on arrival!

Review 2:The ambiance and effort to make it an easy comfortable stay. Personal touches like honesty bar (even if we never used if!) and mince pies, candles etc. breakfast choice excellent

Review 3:Heating not working when we arrived, but was dealt with very promptly couldn't have asked for more.

Review 4:Friendly reception on arrival location excellent. Lovely breakfast we were full all day!

Review 5:Not sure it was great value for money but I did arrive late so did not get full use of the place. Also the cooked breakfast could have given you more on your plate such as beans .

Review 6:Nice lay out, close to Center

Review 7:Having stayed at this property a number of times we have always found it to be clean and comfortable, the location is excellent within walking distance to the centre of Harrogate.

Review 8:2 flights of rather steep stairs

Review 9:Very pleasant comfortable stay. Lots of attention has been given to wee extras that makes this an extra special b&b. Lovely breakfast with good choice.

Review 10:I'm not sure if anything can be done about this but one negative was that we were able to hear everything the people in the room above us were saying. It didn't bother us too much though. The extractor fan in the bathroom in room 4 is exceptionally noisy when first switched on but quietens a little after a while. Again this wouldn't prevent us returning as this place is well located and a great find.

Review 11:The room was spacious enough and had everything you need for a short break. We were met by a very pleasant lady who showed us to our room personally. Breakfast was great both days, nothing was too much trouble and both me and my husband were so full afterwards. We stayed for 2 nights and would definitely stay again if we visit Harrogate.

Review 12:We were in a room at the back of the Car Park which was very comfortable but with the weather being as poor as it was we would have preferred to have been in the Main Building.

Review 13:Friendly and welcoming with many pleasant touches around the Hotel.

Review 14:Cramped room, dampness and mould growth on walls and ceiling areas. Carpets not very clean, and light fittings covered in dust. Shower room was very cramped with the WC on a raised platform. Heavy mould and mildew on shower cubicle walls and tiles. I raised these points with the apparently new owners. They promised to investigate and rectify. I was given a £20 refund, a little derisory given I had paid £248 for two nights in such a poor room.

Review 15:Good location and pleasant staff.

Review 16:Shower gel not replaced.

Review 17:Very close to exhibition centre and very easy access from main road. Self-contained room in Stable Block. Friendly owner and staff

Review 18:We booked The Bijou as the rooms on their website looked amazing and it was a 5 star. Unfortunately our room was disappointing. Not on the website. Although bed was comfy just missed the luxurious feel.

Review 19:The staff were lovely. Breakfast was delicious.

Review 20:Lack of wifi in some rooms, lacked that little extra like complimentary bottled water in rooms, also found staff at breakfast couldn't wait to serve you and get you out quick enough

Review 21:Location,parking,

Review 22:Would have liked a more powerful shower after a hard day on an exhibition stand!

Review 23:Ideally situated just a short walk from the International Centre and town centre restaurants and bars.

Review 24:Nothing!!!

Review 25:the owner Beverley is friendly kind and couldnt be more helpful in organising rooms for me at last minute.the rooms are excellent and comfortable , this is THE BEST place to stay in Harroagte and I have stayed in 7 others in the last 10 weeks.I could not recommend this place any higher-a real home from home.

Review 26:The owner of Bijou was really welcoming, as this was a suprise stay for my boyfriend to celebrate our Anniversary I requested a bottle of Prosecco. When we got to the room the Prosecco was on ice along with a lovely Anniversary card from all the staff at Bijou. This was an extra nice touch. I wld recommend Bijou & happily stay there again. Breakfast was delicious.

Review 27:I loved the decor, the room was lovely and clean as was the bathroom. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. Delicious homemade muesli!

Review 28:No shower, all mirrors clearly put up by a woman to low for men,not that clean cobwebs in bathroom paintwork tired lights not working, rubbish pillows no veggie option now for breakfast

Review 29:Location to centre of Harrogate good size room decent breakfast although orange juice was from concentrate

Review 30:Comfortable bedroom although small shower room with step up to the shower and toilet but adequate for purpose. Good wardrobe space and tea-making facilities together with complimentary biscuits and sweets. Great location for anyone wanting to be in town centre quickly.

Review 31:Being told to pay our bill on arrival as the girl said she would be busy waitressesing on the day we left. When in fact she was not waitressesing on the morning. The place smelt of old fat from the kitchens.

Review 32:Not much to dislike but being picky the rear parking a bit tight, this would not stop us returning

Review 33:The Bijou is a great place to stay in Harrogate. Walking distance of town centre and ideal for Yorkshire Dales attractions. Beverley and the crew make you very welcome. We were in the coach house which was very quiet away from busy main road during rush hour. We will return with so much to do its a must.

Review 34:The parking was free but a little tricky to park up and turn around- this is the only downside and even that we managed.

Review 35:The unique style of the hotel was wonderful. The staff attentive and very welcoming. The attention to detail was amazing- the types of coffee and tea, the sweets and honesty bar are just great little touches. I didn't feel rushed and there was no stuffy atmosphere you can sometimes get from a boutique style hotel. We were thrilled.

Review 36:Beverley had taken over the business 2 days before. She was very welcoming and our stay was as pleasant as previous reviews had led us to expect. This is a very good place to stay.

Review 37:Spotlessly clean, comfortable and stylish room. Very friendly and efficient staff. Great location, just a few minutes walk into the town centre. Lovely breakfast with some different choices on the menu. Would definitely go back and recommend to others.

Review 38:Would make sure I wasn't in the top of the house hubby not keen on heights

Review 39:The nicest breakfast with lots of choice served efficiently and pleasantly always plenty of coffee

Review 40:Shower cubicle in our room was a little on the small side, however it was servicable

Review 41:Location was excellent and the owner vey welcoming and friendly. Room was lovely and well equipped with toiletries, bathrobes etc.Cleanliness was immaculate too. Very pleasant stay and would definitely stay again. Great value for money

Review 42:The staff were not welcoming at no point did anyone ask if how slept or engaged in any form of conversation. The room was very small and incredibly noisy due to the thin walls so much so that we cut a stay short due to lack of sleep.

Review 43:The location was very good right in the center of Harrogate.

Review 44:Being made most welcome. Nothing was too much. the location was great being quiet but 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Private parking which is otherwise a problem in the town centre. Lovely breakfast. Modern bathroom with good shower and extremely comfortable bed.

Review 45:Nothing everything is fantastic.

Review 46:Amazing hotel - stay here every single time. It's ideally located, rooms are lovely, beds are extremely comfortable and breakfast is superb. Really is faultless.

Review 47:- Service was slightly strange and not too welcoming (this relates to breakfast only) - Small bedroom was smaller than I thought while booking, not sure it's great value for money

Review 48:Design, location, cleanliness

Review 49:Although our bed was comfortable to sleep on it was very low and difficult to get up and out of it. Our friends hada lovely high bed and didon't have this problem. Despite the low bed we would still come back and stay for a couple of nights.

Review 50:We were four friends who stopped over in Bijou for one night before travelling on further south. All four of us were impressed with the size of the rooms and the delicious breakfast. Both ladies loved the super teapots in the bedrooms and at breakfast table - great spouts for pouring. Definitely stay here again

Review 51:We were in room number 1 and the bed was very low! The mattress was surrounded by a wooden frame which I kept banging my knee off! Not the easiest bed to get in and out of!! It was a shame really as we booked it due to it's 5 star status!!

Review 52:Very clean rooms and breakfast fantastic! I'm vegetarian so there was plenty of choice! Staff very friendly and made you feel welcome. Location was perfect!

Review 53:Parking a bit tight and the bathrooms need modernisation the shower cubicle was very small and compact no room to swing a cat.

Review 54:Value for money good traditional breakfast

Review 55:Hardly anything we did not like

Review 56:We loved Location, Beds, staff, breakfast, Dining room, tea and coffee facilities, bathroom, good parking- brilliant for business trip for exhibition at the royal hall

Review 57:The girl right outside our bedroom, early in the morning talking in a foreign language very loudly to someone for at leat ten minutes on her mobile. presume it was a member of staff. Not great when we were trying to have a bit of a lie in!

Review 58:The breakfast and the location of the hotel both very good.

Review 59:Nothing to report

Review 60:Excellent location - easy for my work commitments and for the town's facilities. The staff were extremely friendly and there was a nice vibe at breakfast - guests actually talking to each other such was the ambience of the breakfast room - food choice and quality was good too. Stayed in the coach house - lovely and comfortable and will definitely stay here again on my next visit.

Review 61:Only bad thing was the weather ..... so was great to have such a cosy place to head back to.

Review 62:The room was beautiful with a large en-suite and .....the 'jelly tots' were a nice touch.

Review 63:En suite a little small

Review 64:free car parking 10 mins walk to town;hotel spotless .plenty of tea/coffee in room with free sweets a nice touch.superb breakfast and friendly and helpful staff.

Review 65:The whole stay was absolutely amazing. The ambience of The Bijou was relaxing. The room was spotless And cleaned every day of our stay. The food was excellent. Very relaxed friendly atmosphere.

Review 66:None.....couldn't fault..

Review 67:We were placed in the coach house at the rear of the main hotel. The room was beautiful. Modern but homely. Very clean, warm, and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was not huge, but more than enough and fresh. Would definitely stay again. Thank you to the hosts.

Review 68:Fantastic little place and very individual too. A great change from a hotel chain. Very comfy bed. Friendly staff. Free parking and fairly close to the centre of Harrogate. We will return!

Review 69:I arrived at 11.00 pm on a cold February evening to a freezing room as the radiators had all been turn off. It was easy to turn them on but not what I had expected!

Review 70:The building itself is beautiful and inside reflects on this. Lovely facilities including a cosy living room just to relax. Our room was lovely and had a very nice comfy bed. The breakfast in the morning was cooked to perfection but if you don't like cooked they have a large continental selection. Overall was lovely and I would highly recommend this hotel for a trip to Harrogate.

Review 71:Helpful staff, comfy bed, warm room, excellent breakfast. Staff also suggested plenty of restaurants for an evening meal in the centre of town Would I stay again - definitely

Review 72:+ Very minor quibble. Bedroom 2 door only opened 45 degrees. Disconcerting at first but would not put me off staying again. The rest more than made up for it.

Review 73:+ Walking distance to town centre and restaurants + Free parking + Superb quality breakfast + Spotlessly clean + Fast Wi Fi + Powerful shower + Nice range of toiletries

Review 74:Nothing to dislike. Parking was tight but only what one would expect for such a small place.

Review 75:Contemporary decor - clean, fresh and bright. Family run B&B which did feel like a small hotel as others have observed. Excellent breakfast.

Review 76:We were on the top floor and the water pressure to the shower was very low therefore a trickle more than a shower. The I Pod docking station was intermittent in working through both speakers. Wifi was not able to be connected in the room which I would have expected.

Review 77:The location was ideal for the town centre. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 78:Stairs up to the top floor are steep and our room was a little on the small side

Review 79:Quirky Bed and Breakfast in an ideal position for enjoying central Harrogate. Stylish fixtures and fittings and a homely, comfortable vibe. Very good breakfast served in a bright and cheerful dining room

Review 80:Only a suggestion maybe put iron on each floor

Review 81:The location was good short walk to Harrogate centre Off Road parking great Breakfast nice Staff good very welcoming

Review 82:Wi-fi was very intermittent in room, proximity to the main road which meant a lot of noise from early morning traffic. Coffee at breakfast time is prepared for guests as a group rather than individually and, as a result, was too weak for me.

Review 83:Convenient location, helpful staff, breakfast choices are a little different from the norm which is nice.

Review 84:+Small double room was more than big enough, lovely and warm and very classy. Attention to detail in everything. +Tea and coffee selection was great. +Shower was hot and powerful. +Breakfast was perfect. +Staff were friendly and helpful without going over the top. +Easy to find, easy parking and a 5 min walk to the centre of Harrogate.

Review 85:I couldn't make the wifi work in my room but I decided not to use it and therefore didn't ask for help so it was probably me doing something wrong!

Review 86:I stayed here overnight prior to meeting friend in Harrogate. Stayed in the single room which was really comfy. The owner was very welcoming and there has clearly been lots of thought put into the rooms which had everything you could need and lots of extra little touches. The lounge area downstairs for guests was very pleasant and it was nice to be able to sit and relax without having to sit in your bedroom. Breakfast was a real treat and they very kindly accommodated my friend when she arrived earlier than expected. Off road parking and easy walk into Harrogate. I would not hesitate to recommend the Bijoux and hope to stay there again in the future.

Review 87:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 88:Room was a good size, as was the bathroom and very clean. Breakfast was excellent, best we've had in a long while. Warm and friendly, just what you need.

Review 89:There was nothing to dislike

Review 90:The room, service, breakfast and location were of the highest standard. Without doubt one of the best establishments we have stayed in (and the owner showed great taste in his choice of football team!)

Review 91:The bijou hotel is gorgeous. Lovely welcome when we arrived, all facilities explained and a map of town was offered. We stayed in room 7. Fairly small but enough room for 2. Nice decor. Tea making facilities in the room. En suite bathroom with shower. Breakfast was served later, which was perfect for us after we'd had a late one on NYE. Plenty of choice, both hot and cold. Endless supply of toast, tea and coffee. On site parking a big bonus on Harrogate. Will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay

Review 92:Leaving :(

Review 93:Very close to town (walking distance). Good hosts. (We arrived early and swapped us rooms so we could check in). Amazing breakfast!!!! Thank you Dean and Cath Lunn.

Review 94:We were at the top of the house, so the water pressure for the shower was not very strong.

Review 95:The welcome was warm and helpful and the room was comfortable. We very much enjoyed the generous, tasty and varied breakfast. The location was excellent: close to town but very quiet.

Review 96:the breakfast was small and the sausage was undercooked the room could of been a little cleaner

Review 97:The bijou is a lovely hotel staff were very kind and more than happy to help room was nice good value for money

Review 98:the fact I could only stay one night!

Review 99:East to find, close proximity to town centre, smart general appearance, excellent standard of cleanliness, free parking.

Review 100:Nothing

Review 101:Just the type of place I like to stay, traditional building with modern facilities. Lovely boutique style rooms with everything that is needed for a comfortable stay. Loved the jelly tots!! I will book again for my next visit to Harrogate.

Review 102:- More shabby than chic, especially on stairs and landing. - Eclectic, stylistically-confused decor. - The owners 'bending' advertised opening times. Being misinformed by the info on Booking site: I chose this B&B because they advertised being open till 10pm, luckily phoned ahead. Wife informing me they close at 9pm, later husband told me 7pm. Other guests did not ring ahead and could not check in because of this discrepancy, and needed to look for alternative accommodation on (late) arrival. - Breakfast times 8-9.30am (a rather narrow 'window'). Turned up at 8.55am one morning, to be admonished for being the last one (???). Not being informed that I can have an earlier breakfast if needed and consequently having to choose between breakfast and an important conference event.

Review 103:+ White crisp bedlinen and fluffy towels. + The cleanliness of the place. + Lovely breakfast, with quality ingredients (albeit the full English was quite dry - try the vegetarian Italian option). + Excellent fast service from the quiet and polite Polish waitress

Review 104:Just needed bit more light above mirrors for make-up. Was difficult to see when dark.

Review 105:Lovely atmosphere and decor. Breakfast tasty. Small bar was nice.

Review 106:The downside the water flow in shower was very slow

Review 107:I Like the fact the Hotel had very homely feeling and the owner or the boss at the time i checked in was really polite. The room was Excellent with a Huge Bathroom and very comfortable bed.

Review 108:no wi-fi in room but short walk to main hotel wi-fi so not a big inconvenience. Hard floors in room but neither of these would put us off staying again.

Review 109:lovely room, comfortable bed with good quality bedding, free off street parking. Handy walk to HIC and town.

Review 110:Feather pillows and duvet, by the time we realised this all staff gone so slept on mattress with no pillows or duvet as allergy to feathers Parking is tight if all rooms are full Satnav postcode takes you to the other end of very long road (also no 17) which is a mile or more away from actual hotel

Review 111:Great location, really near to town Nice decor Had wifi in all rooms Good breakfast

Review 112:Room size - had the impression they would be bigger Felt like a business B&B which I happened to stay in at the weekend

Review 113:Location good Breakfast good Decoration boutique

Review 114:Could have had fresh milk in the room instead of carton

Review 115:Breakfast Location Parking Friendly staff Quirky extras, eg the sweets Very comfy bed Nice relaxing lounge with music

Review 116:Sat nav sent us to Kent Rd, sign at front of B&B not obvious when approaching from Ripon direction

Review 117:Excellent location, walking distance from town centre, free parking in grounds, good choice of breakfast options, tea making facilities and free biscuits/sweets, toileteries, bathrobe, hot water bottle

Review 118:Nothing to dislike but a complimentary bottle of water in the room would have been most welcome.

Review 119:Booked this as a small double for a few pounds cheaper and to be fair the room was a good size and the shower with toiletries was excellent.breakfast was cooked to order with plenty of cereal, frui juice, fruit, yogurt, toast, tea and coffee.hotel within walking distance of everything Harrogate has to offer and it's also spotless.

Review 120:Parking was a little tight, but not a problem

Review 121:Personal touches like the honesty bar, unusual these days, and the owners were focused on providing facilities which are up to current expectations whilst not being "soulless"

Review 122:- Staff were very polite and considerate. - Breakfast was at a reasonable time on Sunday. I managed to make it in time. - Very quiet, with a nice looking garden - Rooms comfortable and slick

Review 123:The location was excellent. It was within easy walking distance of Harrogate and the free parking was a real asset. The owners were very friendly/helpful. The room was well decorated and had some lovely 'touches' e.g. bathrobe/good quality bath gel/shampoo/body cream etc...There was a wide choice of items on the breakfast menu and everything was fresh and well presented. The place had a lovely feel to it. The lounge was stylish and the décor was modern. The outside gardens/terrace were immaculate. A real gem of a place to stay!

Review 124:This is a very classy B & B - lovely rooms, good Breakfast and Stephen was most helpful. Excellent location to walk to the baths and great restaurants

Review 125:Nothing not to like!

Review 126:I could not have been more looked after if I was in a 5 star hotel. Nothing was too much trouble, (I asked for a blanket as I dont like duvets - no problem); my room was lovely; the whole breakfast was so delicious (try the Italian - absolutely yummy) and then I borrowed an umbrella and on my return after a long day at an exhibition, the lovely lady owner called a taxi for me and gave me a wonderful pot of peppermint tea as was exhausted. Brilliant.

Review 127:Great location - walking distance to town. Hotel facilities excellent, can't think of anything else we needed. Breakfast was also great and set us up for a busy day!!

Review 128:Very nice and comfortable small hotel close to the amenities we wanted.the owners were very obliging and helpful and made us very welcome we would have no hesitation is staying there again or recommending the Bijou to friends.
