Reviews for Portcaman House

Review 1:I really can't say I didn't like anything. It is incredibly clean and comfortable. You have to remember that it is someone's home and not the Hilton as far as facilities/design, but it's way cleaner and more comfortable than any Hilton I've ever stayed in.

Review 2:Dawn was really nice and a good cook!. There is parking and free wi-fi. It's also a 2 minute walk from the center of the village, restaurants and pubs.

Review 3:Could hear what the family above us were talking about that the ceiling and walls were so thin.

Review 4:The service was nice, breakfast was lovely . Easy to find the place

Review 5:Bathroom.

Review 6:Room is ok, but shower is very small. No comfortable to take a shower (70x70) It is ok for 1 night. Breakfast was very tasty (omlet). Parking is safe. Wi fi was ok.

Review 7:Place in need of a makeover. I had a double en suite. Bathroom tiny. Sink in the bedroom. Various things broken. Was told other rooms were much better. Didn't hear complaints from others, who seemed very happy.

Review 8:Good location near the centre of Bushmills. Excellent breakfast. Access to fridge & microwave. Ability to use dining room for take away food in the evening. Very helpful and pleasant staff.

Review 9:Size and organization of the room were excellent - even provided a desk and chair for work on the computer. Well located near the centre of Bushmills.

Review 10:Host was very nice and helpful with advice on the local attractions. The room was nicely appointed and very comfortable. Had access to a microwave and a honor fridge with reasonably priced water, sodas, and beer.

Review 11:Nothing

Review 12:We liked everything. The owner was very friendly and although we had checked out she let us leave the car at her car park while we went into centre of town for the Salmon and Whiskey festival

Review 13:Cleanliness must really improve considerably. Mattress should have been changed while ago, we could not sleep for more than a couple of hours.

Review 14:Friendly staff. Good location.

Review 15:I think there a better choices else where.Try finding something more updated. It was worn, dirty and we didnt feel welcomed at all. Bathroom was black with mould. Absolutely to expensive for what we got !

Review 16:We took our grand daughter with us so the room we got was fab.we were able to take our dog with us which just was brilliant or we couldn't of had a few day up the north coast.the owner dawn could not do enough for you and the breakfast she served was just excellent.

Review 17:The property is old and poorly maintained. Locating the property was difficult as the sign was propped against the house and anchored by a piece of stone, The rooms were dreary and not properly cleaned. The bathrooms were in a cupboard space and showers were old and rusted in the corners. There was a dog running freely and there were dog hairs throughout the property. In our beds in the morning which would have been carried on our feet and even on the side of a cup at breakfast. Hence we didn't have cooked breakfast as dog is in kitchen area as well. Our back bedroom has the dog run alongside our door and the faeces lying in the dog run was unacceptable. Quite frankly this is more of a hostel and I would expect better given it had an 8,3 rating at the time we booked. We have termed this property the house of horrors .

Review 18:Dawn was very nice but house needs serious attention.

Review 19:We were dropped off by bus right in front of Portcaman House. My wife and teenage son had a lot of luggage (three fold up bicycles) which Dawn let us store inside (very nice). Dawn was a great host, provided us great directions for cycling and advice for what to see and do. The room was perfect for the three of us, very comfortable and clean. Dawn provided a great breakfast as well.

Review 20:The room was small and dark. It had a spare mattress propped up against the wall, goodness knows where they were going to put that! The bathroom was sparse of any toiletries and not very clean.

Review 21:Water pressure on cold tap was v low but not a major issue for us

Review 22:Good breakfast, very friendly owner, very pet friendly, relaxed atmosphere, 2min walk from restaurants etc, room and bathroom generous in size, mattress very comfortable

Review 23:overwhelming smell of bleach when we arrived use to try to remove the mold on the walls round the window and ceiling.

Review 24:scenery beautiful, host friendly and helpful

Review 25:I was there with my boyfriend for a weekend The rooms/beds are really comfortable. Dawn is a really nice person. Breakfast is small but it doesn't need much there! It was perfect. And really close to the center. With the car like 2 minutes to Dunlace Castle, 4 to Giants Causeway and 15 to the Rope Bridge.

Review 26:The town was very quiet and there wasn't a lot of choice for places to eat! The food in the Bushmills Inn was excellent but very pricey!

Review 27:The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very helpful and attentative! Park & Ride to the Giants Causeway only a 5 minute walk away and Bushmills Diatillery only a 10 minute walk!

Review 28:Lights didn't work, No one here to greet us but a kid- owner was onholiday- had mixed up our reservation, Floors and walls were extremelythin and the room was very small. The Bed was smaller than a full. Itwas Not very clean. The Tv remote didn't work. The Toilet seat edgeswere sharp and the toilet wouldn't flush. There was Face soapinstead of hand soap and No garbage in room. The teakettle was half fullwith old water. The bed was extremely squeaky and the heater wassparking! There was Hair on my towel and our Shower didn't work. Ialso Scraped my foot on the shower door and cut it open.

Review 29:The bed was comfy.

Review 30:We got an automated email from our booking to arrange check-in but the owner was on holiday so nobody was responded, which created some difficulty in getting into our room. The heating didn't come on as needed so rooms were cold at times. Walls are thin and noisy guests disturbed our sleep

Review 31:Rooms, friendly, good breakfast

Review 32:Some traffic noise. Standard of housekeeping requires attention.

Review 33:Location was excellent with parking provided. Proximity to tourist destinations excellent. Good choice of breakfasts and host had good knowledge of local area.

Review 34:Basic bathroom and water pressure in shower a bit low but didn't spoil our visit.

Review 35:Central location. Short drive to tourist attractions including Giants Causeway and Carrick a rede rope bridge. Catered for my dairy and wheat intolerances. Friendly and helpful landlady Dawn. Lovely B&B, definitely come back.

Review 36:Very easy to locate the house and it is ideally located on the main road in from Belfast. Within walking distance of the Bushmills Distillery and restaurants.

Review 37:More like a hostel than a B & B Badly worn stair carpet Cobwebs hanging from bedroom lights Dirty bathroom floor Mould arround base of shower Room not cleaned over our 2 night stay No lounge which was offered by the other B & Bs £25pppn would be reasonable but not £41pppn as we were charged

Review 38:Nothing much possibly the position

Review 39:Thanks to Dawn, we had a great stay. The room was clean and spacious plenty big enough for us three. She gave us some great advice when we were visiting places in the area! Thanks again Dawn

Review 40:I'd booked a single room, but the TV wasn't working, if had of known this, I could of brought an iPad etc. it was all clean enough, but a little dated. But ok for a £40 stay.

Review 41:The owner was very helpful when I'd to leave at 6.30, she had left out a breakfast.

Review 42:Shower upstairs didnt have much water pressure. Toilet was hard to flush.

Review 43:Great BnB - good size full Irish Breakfast Comfortable beds. Free Parking Free wifi Close to shops Warm & welcoming host

Review 44:Strange room configuration with the sink not being in the bathroom Some decor touching up needed

Review 45:Dawn was really friendly. Great location for walking to Bushmills and the distillery and for the causeway

Review 46:- tea kettle in the room was faulty, refusing to switch off. I nearly burned myself with the boiling hot steam coming out of it when I tried to turn off the switch. Had to pull the plug for it to stop. When asked the staff they seemed to know about it, so a bit strange that they would leave it in place. I could boil water for tea with it - always better than to have no tea :) - but knowing about it in advance would've been nice. - the room was a bit chilly in the morning. It didn't bother in the evening once I burrowed under the covers, I had a good night's sleep. - tv didn't work. Though not a great loss for me, would've been nice to check out the UK programs :)

Review 47:+ good location near Bushmills center and a few minutes' bus drive from Giant's Causeway + good breakfast that kept me full during a long trek on the Giant's Causeway :) + nice comfy bed + very helpful and a nice owner Dawn who gave instructions on places to eat, shops, buses etc. There were also many brochures about places of interest one might like to visit and bus and train timetables.

Review 48:Only niggle was the shower cubicle a bit small for us - both tall - and tv not working although that was a minor issue for us.

Review 49:Comfortable room with great bed. Lovely breakfast - Dawn very knowleable about the local area and happy to share.

Review 50:The outside of the bed and breakfast is not attractive but the inside is so much better! Don't let this put you off booking.

Review 51:Ideally placed within walking distance to local amenities. Fantastic breakfast. Host Dawn very friendly and knowledgeable of local area. The tea and coffee facilities great - hot chocolate!!! included.

Review 52:The noise from the road and the walls were paper thin so we could hear everything going on in the B&B. I didn't like the sausages at breakfast. We went back to our room to get changed after getting soaked in a downpour and the owner walked in and proceeded to change the duvet cover while we were in the room. We felt so awkward we left without changing! There was a smell of mould in the room and there was mould growing on the windowsill. We paid approximately €230 for two nights in a double room. Very expensive for a B&B that isn't very nice.

Review 53:The location to the village was good.

Review 54:That it's so far from home that we have to fly to revisit. ;)

Review 55:Comfortablebay bed. Happy hostess - friendly and helpful. And, according to my husband, the best coffee on the whole island (in our 2 week vacation, cruising the coastline).
