Reviews for The Best Western Imperial Hotel
Review 1:bar lunch was very very poor soup was like water and desert was still frozen when served it was suppose to be bread &butter pudding with hot custard it was dreadfull
Review 2:location and it was a nice hotel staff were friendly only drawback was cook was not very good at cooking
Review 3:very noisy during night, due to the proximity of the dual carriage way! Coffee at Breakfast was awful!!!
Review 4:I like the location, Nice bathroom, unfortunately it took me three days to work all the different taps (3) out in the spa bath.
Review 5:the squeaky and noisy floorboards in the room and on the stairs, it was very annoying.
Review 6:the staff were all very friendly and efficient and the hotel was very clean, and a good breakfast.
Review 7:Be prepared to carry luggage upstairs
Review 8:Very handy location for bus / train / town centre. Helpful staff and sufficient facilities for my business trip needs.
Review 9:Didn't like that I had to park my car at the other end of the town.
Review 10:Hotel was ideal for what I wanted being close to the town centre. Was very clean, comfortable and had a good nights sleep. No view from my room but that's not what I came here for.
Review 11:Needed a 7 am breakfast as daughter had an exam asked reception and manager both stated not possible as breakfasts start at 730.. Friendly receptionist on day of exam organised toast for her. I won't be back for that lack of care. Made what was already stressful more.
Review 12:Very average and overpriced. Front desk staff didn't know where the museum is == it's around the corner! Poor food. Nothing awful just nothing special and not worth the price. At the very low end of three star hotels.
Review 13:In town and not far from the railway station.
Review 14:Shower was pathetic. Glad I wasn't in a hurry. Trickle is being generous.
Review 15:Great location. Bar food is ok. room was great. Bed big and comfortable. Tea, coffee etc great.
Review 16:Avoid the Rio restaurant - don't think the chef has been to Italy in his life. We had two dishes with one mentioned having olives. We counted 34 in one and 31 in another another and I obviously was given the wrong dish I ordered as I,m still looking for the prawns that should have been there.
Review 17:Excellent position and clean and good accommodation.
Review 18:We had a satisfactory supper. My breakfast was inedible. Produced within 2 minutes of ordering -cold but obviously cooked hours earlier!
Review 19:Good parking and courteous staff.
Review 20:Kitchen noise and staff smoking at front door
Review 21:Room was very noisy as beside kitchen on fire escape - staff were very loud. Staff stood outside main entrance smoking which was disgusting.
Review 22:No lift. Only one chair in room. Abominably hard uncomfy pillows. Cheeeeep thin loo paper. Very rushed at breakfast. Staff having a fag under the awning at front door whilst we had to have ours in the pouring rain. Dinny haud yer breath for us coming back
Review 23:Our room as far away as could be. We are not very mobile and had to climb many stairs. Shower not good as had to run sink tap first to get hot water.
Review 24:staff and food was good
Review 25:Breakfast poor and included the 'chefs special' component was the same both mornings (a frozen hash brown). Shower was dangerous as temperature fluctuated between scalding hot and freezing cold. The walls in the corridors are carpeted.
Review 26:Staff were friendly enough.
Review 27:Although the cost of the stay was well above our normal budget, the quality of it was excellent. The staff were pleasant and all 3 dining rooms were lovely - as was the food. (A special 'thanks' to Trish for inter-acting so well)
Review 28:" somehow, we were not giving menu and serviced for breakfast for at least 15 mins this morning. We don't feel welcomed at this hotel...." Hong for Mr.Qi. 14 Sep 2015
Review 29:Just so impersonal, might just as well booked into one of those "other " hotels.just felt like a room number !!
Review 30:Not a lot ! Good area of interest dining out excellent,
Review 31:The bath was very slippy,no bath mat provided, even after requesting one....I was given a towel to use,we didn't eat in the hotel( other than breakfast ) as we were meeting friends, but it didn't look very inviting.
Review 32:The location, close to town ,bus & train station is excellent
Review 33:extremely noisy room. kitchen vent running creates vibration and noise. machinery behind the walls created random noise during the night no elevators breakfast only till 9:30am, not suitable for leisure travelers who had a late night/late arrival or just like to sleep in
Review 34:location
Review 35:Overall very poor standard for Best Western. We were a honeymoon couple which made no difference. Wouldnt stay at a Best Western again. Poor facilities for my wifes dietary issues
Review 36:Location
Review 37:The hotel needs refurbishing. The local guides we used referred to the hotel as the worst western hotel. We paid for breakfast in the room rate but as we were leaving at 6.00 am they could not accommodate is satisfactorily. They left out cereal but no milk coffee and tea you had to make with the in bedroom facilities.....how often do those mugs get washed properly.
Review 38:The hotel was In walking distance of a range of restaurants, and close enough to good climbing locations.
Review 39:Room very dated as was whole hotel, no lift, room 32 was very noisy with the staff from kitchen & you could also hear everyone in surrounding rooms walking by
Review 40:Not alot
Review 41:The room was tiny and not as clean as it could be. The restaurant was sub-standard,and I am surprised we did not get food poisoning. You could actually smell bug spray. The noise of traffic was relentless. Staff at restaurant were clueless.
Review 42:The jacuzi in the room was nice the wifi was good..
Review 43:The floor of the room 27 and 28 is tilted, so are the bed with mattresses. Due to the uneven surface of the mattresses, people sleep on the lower part making them sink in even more and more. The bed therefore was not comfortable for me and my husband, as we were afraid of falling down from bed to floor. Breakfast was poor and not yummy. The staff was not so friendly and not so resourceful when we asked the information of what to do where to go in Fort William. And definitely the hotel was not worth USD$265/night.
Review 44:Location is the best. Nice view overlooking to the lake.
Review 45:Staff were depressing to say the least Especially wait staff.no customer service what so ever. Had no idea. Who hires these people?
Review 46:Central location.very near to train station.
Review 47:No lifts, awkward staircase. Our room was near a noisy pub on a saturday night. Small rooms.
Review 48:Friendly staff. Close to where we needed to be. Good breakfast.
Review 49:Free parking was great, but there isn't much of it, so was worried I would get a parking ticket, thankfully people checked out in time next morning, so I could get a space. Wasn't particularly impressed with the evening meal I bought, but maybe it was just what I'd picked, rather than the cooking. A bit too many olives in the pasta for my taste, so not really a problem or complaint.
Review 50:When I arrived they informed me that they had upgraded my room for free. Which was lovely! Receptionist was great. Hotel was in a great location & no problems with noise in the room.
Review 51:Poor noise insulation. Loud noise from the aisle during night time. Loud noise in the room at random time, probably plumbing.
Review 52:Location, Room, Price.
Review 53:Apart from the ground floor areas the property is in need of a complete refurbishment. The bedroom was cramped and the decor jaded.
Review 54:The staff were polite & helpful
Review 55:Interior feels tired and in need of a facelift. Beds were in desperate need of replacement. Not good to see breakfast fruits and juices being laid out the evening before to stand all night, whilst having meal in restaurant. Asked for some minor road directions and was just told to go to the train station and ask for information there.
Review 56:Location was ideal in town centre.
Review 57:Pretty pricey for a nice but not exceptional room. It was a hot night, with just one small window that opened only a few inches.
Review 58:Great location, just steps from the High Street and all the shops. Staff was exceptionally accommodating, made arrangements for us to park near the hotel. Nice clubby bar off the lobby.
Review 59:Receptionists English was awful. Inability to get a surprise bottle of champagne to the bedroom No shower
Review 60:Bedroom amazing 2 person hot tub great
Review 61:WAY overpriced for what it is. Good mid-level hotel that was priced way too high. The breakfast was really bad, wait-staff inattentive. Had a supurb stay in Oban the night before for 50 pounds less but miles better.
Review 62:Location was great, parking was available and close. Comfortable room and bed.
Review 63:The hotel is very central just off the High Street. Staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful. There is no lift but they offer porterage. If you are older and have issues with stairs worthwhile asking for a lower room. Definitely not wheelchair friendly. 2 restaurants on site plus bar food....But room service prices were extortionate. If you need wifi -great service throughout the hotel, but they also has a computer and printer in the reception area for customers use.
Review 64:We were on a roadtrip with 9 hotels booked - this was one of the better places we stayed at, but not worth twice the rate of our other stays. We really only booked the place because of location to the station for the Jacobite Steam Train
Review 65:Everything was nice: beds, room was huge, staff, location.
Review 66:The hotel is situated between a dual carriageway and a 1960's shopping precient, with few parking facilities for guests. The hotel is badly in need of refurbishment.
Review 67:The staff were friendly enough and the hotel was clean.
Review 68:The taps in the sink of the bathroom had to be turned on, just to start the shower. The toilet didn't always flush with any great power.
Review 69:Rooms were clean and tidy. Breakfast was great and the hotel was accessible to the shops, restaurants and station.
Review 70:Having to ask a member of staff who appeared to be living in a small room opposite room 1 to close the door and be quiet at 11:45. Very disappointing for a best western.
Review 71:The onsite free parking wasn't available and I had to park in a public car park (albeit very close by) and go out to pay before having breakfast.
Review 72:The room was very clean and modern. The pizzaria on site was very handy and served great food.
Review 73:Nothing it served our purpose 100%
Review 74:The perfect location for a trip to Fort William. It is also perfectly located for our Jacobite Train journey central to everything shops and Main Street are 25 meters away from front door
Review 75:not a bad experience, the cooked breakfast was average everything else was 100%
Review 76:the room.the view the central location the meals in the bar were very good.the staff were very friendly and helpful.we usualy stay in another hotel in fort William but we have decided to change to this one for all future visits
Review 77:The shower in room 225 was poor. Plumbing is in need of serious intervention; who likes an intermittent hot and mostly cold shower? A little printed notice giving advice is no substitute for a certain hot flow.
Review 78:The location. The Room. The choice of restaurant.
Review 79:Could feel some springs in the mattress. Needs to be replaced
Review 80:Nice big bathroom with Jacuzzi if wished. Friendly and helpful staff particularly on reception
Review 81:Terrible coffee at breakfast; no haggis or black pudding - this is Scotland!
Review 82:I slept well, room surprisingly quiet given a road outside, bed very comfortable, shower good, staff very helpful, close to Ben Nevis and Glencoe and ferries to the islands
Review 83:Disappointed that beautiul dining room with sea views was not open for my evening meal (a limited menu available in their bar}
Review 84:Good location easy walk from rail station. Helpful staff.
Review 85:Not all staff had a reasonable command of English. There was no drying facilities for walkers. Breakfast - chef's special was a hash brown, not home made. Toast and coffee were cold before cooked breakfast came. Service was very slow.
Review 86:Bathroom was well designed but was missing some toiletries - shower cap, conditioner, cotton buds etc. Room was okay but was tired.
Review 87:Nothing comes to mind only the weather but obviously this was outside the hotels control!!
Review 88:clean and quiet, helpful staff and good food. Carparking very close but small
Review 89:no hot water in our room, fatherinlaw had no hot water, and an elderly couple spoke to had no hot water,, was told due to lot of people using hotel, water was used up, paying 120pd a night , this was not acceptable,, then where car was parked, they strimmed grass on small embankment covering car with wet grass.did eventually get a discount on payment but they were not keen on giving, bathroom was dirty with paint peeling of wall ans skirting boards flaking and dirty.
Review 90:First room we were in was very poor- No 47. However when shower did not work we were moved to No 4 which was excellent.
Review 91:Most staff very friendly and very helpful when our car broke down and we had to cancel one night.
Review 92:Lost power to some sockets in bedroom. Shower made kettling noise when giving hot water. When it stopped making noise got cold water.Light in bath room went off after about 5 minuets leaving you in he dark. Over all the whole place is a bit tired.
Review 93:staff were pleasant. Food was nice
Review 94:We had an executive room, with 4 poster, which was great except that the mattress was rather poor, so did not sleep well. Also had secondary double glazing which was steamed up, so could not enjoy the fantastic waterfront views.
Review 95:The staff were friendly and helpful, and the meals I. The hotel were very much enjoyed
Review 96:Did not like the bathroom,it was clean but the shower was over a corner jussibath which are very unhygienic.the bed was a four poster which had seen better days,a sad room which is in need of a facelift
Review 97:Dining was good, staff very helpful
Review 98:The floor had a floor boar missing and there was no blackpudding with the breakfast
Review 99:We had a two night stay, our room was clean and comfortable with lovely views over the loch
Review 100:When we drove up to the side of the hotel our first impression was that it it was a poor location but once we walked around and saw the front and the brief walk up to the town centre We were very happy.
Review 101:We stayed for only one night and wish we had stayed longer. We were given a free upgrade which made our stay wonderful . We walked into town and stopped along a few pubs for beverages and food. Lovely town , brilliant location. Definitely would go back.
Review 102:One thing I found disappointing was the heater in the bathroom (towel rail) was never turned on. It was very chilly.
Review 103:Location was excellent as we travelled by train
Review 104:Very limited parking area with surrounding streets resident parking permit only. Nearby public car park not allowing overnight parking.
Review 105:Excellent room and facilities Very good evening meal especially the Indian menu.
Review 106:The bed was uncomfortable. The room was clean but a bit cramped.
Review 107:The staff were very attentive, were very good and seemed genuine in their want to deliver a good service. We were given a larger room than booked at no extra cost.
Review 108:For Valentine's day if was red Balloons Or heart .....Nothing Special Just Cundall
Review 109:Very clean good food staff very friendly Alina was very helpful friendly everything was nice I field very good I enjoyed and I will came back
Review 110:Nothing really.
Review 111:Easy to find and the facilities are fine for someone who just needs a bed, hot shower, and a pint and some food after a long mountain day
Review 112:No shower in room - only whirlpool tub. Minor complaint.
Review 113:Food onsite was very good and excellent value. Staff made every effort to accommodate whenever they could.
Review 114:Only negative was the door lock on my room had a fault also room was just warm could have been warmer. Breakfast was good value was good for the price I paid.
Review 115:The 4 poster bed was uncomfortable and the TV wasn't working when we arrived. Breakfast was disappointing with small portions and the coffee was tasteless. I found it difficult to understand what the receptionist was saying at times as she spoke very quickly. However she was very helpful.
Review 116:We liked the location. We liked the spa bath. The room was well appointed and spacious.
Review 117:Room was next to a busy road and backing on to a niteclub!
Review 118:We arrived to discover Fort Willams Black Friday, which was a real feel of Xmas, shops open late,Santa,Carol singers, hot food and beverages being served by local pubs and cafes,a really nice feel to the whole thing
Review 119:As the room was to the front of the hotel it was a tiny bit noisy at night, but it wouldn't stop you sleeping. Not much parking if you're bringing a car.
Review 120:Had room no.19. Beautiful big room with four poster bed. Jacuzzi bath is much bigger than the photographs make you think and the bathroom in general is huge. Overall a nice hotel with a good breakfast but maybe a little bit overpriced.
Review 121:No lift Telephone broken Receptionist inadequate grasp of English _ willing but needs further training English lessons to be front of house Breakfast let down by poor thought 1 croissants microwaved 2 toast all crammed in rack therefore soggy 3 no marmalade on table (in Scotland) 4 bacon covered in white mush All felt as being done by low paid under-trained staff
Review 122:Price
Review 123:Discovered on first night that bedside lamp had faulty wiring. Reported this to reception - fault not corrected. Last morning all lighting (except plug in) failed - not good packing and dressing without proper lighting. Continental Breakfast advertised variously as from 0530 and 0700. Sandwiches left for us as we had to leave by 0730. Appeared to be in need of new management.
Review 124:Convenient for railway station
Review 125:Dividing Walls are too thin in bedrooms making noise levels a problem but at the price one pays it's bearable
Review 126:Receptionist was extremely helpful and I was greeted with a lovely smile Certainly shall return in the new year Thanks to all the staff making it a pleasant stay indeed
Review 127:I didn't eat in the bar because of a, frankly, very noisy child. Don't get me wrong, I don't object to children normally, but this one was way over the top. I suspect not the norm...
Review 128:Very helpful and friendly staff. Would I stay again? Yes!
Review 129:Steepish stairs - glad I was on the first floor with little luggage.
Review 130:Good sized single room with large shower on the first floor with view across the loch. A nice change from poky attic rooms.
Review 131:On Saturday the 1st of November I stayed in the Best Western Imperial Hotel in Fort William. I booked the Best Western as I believed it to be a reputable hotel. I required a place to get a good night sleep prior to taking part in ‘Eddie's Half Marathon’ organised at the Nevis centre An Aird, Fort William to raise funds for Asthma UK. I had booked 3 rooms at the hotel, 2 double and 1 single for my friends also participating in the race. Due to the race taking place the next day I retired at 9.30pm. Almost straight away we heard the thumping of music blaring out of the nightclub directly outside our bedroom window, we were in room 16. My partner and I endured the noise for several hours until it became unbearable, I called reception to see if we could change rooms. When I explained the situation the receptionist on duty said ‘ I know, I am so sorry, I wish I could change your room but unfortunately we are fully booked, the music should only last until 12.30/1am’. This as you could imagine was not the response that I was hoping for from a Best Western Hotel that boasts excellent, high quality service. We discovered that night that ‘The Basement’ had a license until 3am. The following morning I was utterly disappointed with the service we had been given, I spoke to the same receptionist and asked to speak to the manager, she explained that they were on leave and that she was in charge. She said she was sorry I did not sleep well but that this is what is to be expected when booking a hotel in the city centre. I have stayed in hotels across the world, some close to airports but I have never encountered as uncomfortable a night as this. I suggested that if the hotel was to offer this room then it should invest in better sound proofing. I am not a light sleeper. I appreciate that the receptionist may not have been able to offer another room but I do not feel the response I received was at all understanding or what I would expect from a Best Western Hotel.
Review 132:The bed was comfy, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was nice.
Review 133:Dirty carpet Poor quality breakfast Damp on walls Lack of parking Early closure of bar Not value for money Should not be classified as a hotel Front door closed before 11pm No lift
Review 134:Wi-fi access
Review 135:I have a little trouble with climbing and desending stairs, so it would have been helpful if there had been someone to carry my luggage!
Review 136:I received a very warm welcome! The room was clean and tidy, but the bed was the best, it was so comfortable and I slept really well! Also the food was excellent, very well presented and tested good, as well as value for money!
Review 137:Unfortunately previous occupants of our room had been smokers. Not a lot of parking especially if some of the bays were used by staff!
Review 138:Arrived quite late so decided to eat in the bar - enjoyed the chef's special lamb curry and chicken shashlik - very good including the service.
Review 139:Dinner - 2 course meal very poor poor and Italian food average- served both menus in the Italian restaurant part of hotel , only guests so no atmosphere
Review 140:Mattresses excellent! Breakfast excellant
Review 141:I am pleased to say there was nothing we did not like.
Review 142:there was no need to ask any of the staff for anything as all our needs were met and the location was perfect.
