Review 1：Evening meal poor. Dark narrow staircase leading to very cold room. Okay once we turned radiator on. Arrived 6pm and had to wait quite a while to book in. Only enough hot water for one shower. Fan from kitchen droned just beside our room, all night.

Review 3：The hotel was closed when I arrived at 4pm - despite 2 phone calls tonumbers on window I got no response - eventually - someone stopped me asI was driving out car park . Hotel was dark , uninviting and completelylacking in atmosphere. There were no other guests which was quite spookyI left at 07.15 and there was not any staff around to check me out
Review 4：Everything! I travel frequently alone and found the facilities and, most especially, the staff marvelous! Never having been in this part of England before, I needed to rely on the staff for advice as how to walk to the Town Centre [even furnished me with a printed-out map], taxis, etc. I had the pleasure of meeting 'Simon,' the proprietor of The Redwell; even HE was friendly & helpful!
Review 5：The room was small. The shower/toilet was tiny with clear glass and no curtain. The view from the window was of untidy shed roofs
Review 6：The hotel was on the edge of town and a good walk to the centre. Staff were friendly and the accommodation was clean and tidy but a little cramped. Breakfast was decent quality using local products.
Review 7：The shower did not operate efficiently as it was either cold or very hot as the thermostat did not appear to work. I was told that it was due for renewal the following week.
Review 8：The hotel was in a very convenient spot for the local sights. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The evening meals were interesting and value for money.
Review 9：I didn't have a bad experience here - it was fine but I really don't think it was worth the money. Fixtures and fittings around the hotel were a little worn and shabby and the shower cubicle was tatty - almost like something you would find in a caravan. I would expect more for my money.

Review 19：The staff are excellent nothing is too much for them. The location is ideal for anybody wishing to tour the moors while in Barnard Castle. The food is very good with a good choice for evening meals and as for the breakfast a full English sets you up for the day
Review 20：The wifi didn't work the best. We were right next to a signal extender but it still kept dropping out. We had a twin room and we were pre-warned that there might be no hot water, which there wasn't, but we were given a key to use the shower of the single room next door so it really wasn't an issue.
Review 21：We arrived in the evening and decided to have dinner in the hotel. It was a lovely, relaxed, pub atmosphere and the food was very good. In the morning there was a choice of continental breakfast or hot breakfast made to order. I opted for poached eggs, which were cooked perfectly. The room was very clean with a nice decor and the staff were very friendly.

Review 24：I had to wait a good few minutes when I arrived as there was no staff about. Some of the meal prices are a little to expensive for what you get. I.E the salad was a little sparse, i've seen better starter salads. The pillows need looking at as they are hard and no choice for softer one available. Although the radiator was on full the room was still chilly. Value for money in a single room is not good, I have paid less for a double in the past else where and got a lot better value for money.
