Reviews for Ballylinny Holiday Cottages
Review 1:SO close to the Giant's Causeway, and very clean, efficient and comfortable. A key was left for us, so we could arrive whenever it was convenient. Loved this place! Would like to have stayed longer.
Review 2:Loved it, close to causeway and other things to see, Only booked for one night but stayed 2! Loads of room, big cottage, lovely scenery, would def stay again, thanks Alan!
Review 3:Only low point was that we couldn't stay longer!
Review 4:Location - views stunning. Cottage very cosy & well equipped, open fire, 2 en -suites & even a Christmas tree. Alan & his staff very friendly & helpful. Walking distance of Giants Causeway & cliff walks. Highly recommended. Will return!
Review 5:The heat hadn't been turned on prior to arriving, which made the cottage pretty chilly for our night.
Review 6:The cottage was spacious with a nice view and great parking. Close to town and the Giant's Causeway. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Review 7:Shannon and Alan were extremely welcoming and helpful. The cottage itself is conveniently located to Dunluce castle, Bushmills distillery and the Causeway. Good local pubs and restaurants close by. The cottage was perfect for our needs...spacious, clean, well-equipped, cosy and warm.
Review 8:More attention to cleaning needed. We found used dental floss in the ensuite hanging off basin. Other than that everything else was fine.
Review 9:Great location. Great price. Lovely staff
Review 10:Excellent. Very friendly helpful staff. Stayed in barn loft, there was lots of room and very comfortable. Very close to giants causeway and easy drive to plenty of sights along the coast
Review 11:Nothing, it was all great.
Review 12:The location is fantastic - it is really close to the Giant's Causeway and is in a beautiful setting. Everything about the accommodation is excellent.
Review 13:It was a good clean place. Could have been a wee bit cleaner.
Review 14:View was spectacular! Had all the furnishings we needed (kitchen, washer, etc..). Fireplace was very nice.
Review 15:We were supposed to meet someone for the keys at the scheduled time but was slightly late in our arrival. Unfortunately, we had to spend $ on a phone call to locate our cottage unit and the keys.
Review 16:Close proximity to Giants Causeway, fabulous view and well-equipped kitchen including a working washer/dryer.
Review 17:No soaps etc provided, which is fine. Would have been helpful to realise this ahead of time.
Review 18:Great location, very close to Giants Causeway. Spacious apartment. Nice to have washing facility.
Review 19:Would have liked more activities for children on site eg park or play area. Towels are a bit tired and could do with being replaced.
Review 20:Excellent location close to most attractions. House very comfortable, spacious and warm. Plenty of cups and plates.
Review 21:My only criticisms would be the lack of adequate crockery for four guests. Also, the gas fire didn't work which was a pity.
Review 22:The spacious comfortable loft apartment
Review 23:Not a bad word to say.
Review 24:Fantastic location, lovely bright clean loft with everything we could have wanted for our trip. We certainly will come for another visit. Highly recommended.
Review 25:Slightly disappointed we were in the converted barn upstairs rather than in one of the gorgeous looking cottages.
Review 26:Great location, very comfortable accomodation, very spacious
Review 27:Wifi is hit and miss although that's not the owners fault. Just down to the location.
Review 28:Beautiful cottages. Very well maintained & clean. Plenty of information on the local area. Will definitely be back.
Review 29:The beds were comfortable but a bit squeaky.
Review 30:So close to the Giant's Causeway; we could have walked over. Got really good information from the receptionist - we bought breakfast in the Causeway Hotel (£9ish each) and didn't have to pay (£9 each person!) for parking. However this means that you don't have access to the visitor centre but not have children with us that didn't matter.
Review 31:Just a wee bit more attention to detail with some areas of cleaning would make this perfect accomodation ..... Not dirty but just needing that wee extra touch
Review 32:Beautiful location and comfortable accomodation
Review 33:Great location if you're planning to visit the Giants Causeway - just a 2 minute drive or a 10 minute walk down the road. Although there was just the two of us this trip, the loft was sufficient for a family of four, with everything you needed, including a washing machine.
Review 34:The owner went the extra mile to look after us. It was situated perfectly for visit to Giant's causeway. Pub with excellent food within walking distance
Review 35:Perfect for getaway stay Useful base for touring causeway coast Large accommodating rooms and living quarters for self catering Friendly staff who facilitated late arrival - after midnight
Review 36:Everything was ugly dirty, specially the bath rooms with mold in the showers. We paid 140€ and for that money it has to be clean. Beds could also use some refurbishing. The office was dirty too, the girl not friendly either.
Review 37:Close to the Causeway, nice views, a lot of space.
Review 38:The location is a few minutes from the Giants Cause Way. The cottage is very nice and comfortable. The views from the cottage are impressive. The staff were very helpful.
Review 39:Friendly reception; very warm, quiet, clean, spacious cottage; two bathrooms; well equipped with comfortable pine furniture and good kitchen; full control over CH and hot water; brilliant power shower; wood stove (bring your own wood); lovely surroundings in extensive grounds; parking right outside; easy walk to Giant's Causeway.
Review 40:We felt that the property description implied that the Causeway and Bushmills were easily accessible on foot, but necessitated walking along a very busy road. The cottage suited is very well, but the main living area/kitchen floor was not very clean.
Review 41:Great location, between the Giants Causeway and Bushmills. A really good amount of space, great shower, and decent kitchen facilities.
Review 42:No tea tray or toiletries. To be fair it is self-catering but they would just step it up a notch.
Review 43:Great location close to the Causeway Free WiFi Spacious Friendly staff with good recommendations on where to eat locally
Review 44:Our unit was in the middle and was the only one without a view. The mattresses were very soft. fyi there is no soap or shampoo provided.
Review 45:Nice large unit. It was nice to have some room to spread out a bit. Washing machine!! I would recommend this place.
Review 46:The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean enough but I had to give the kitchen, fridge and dining table a good clean
Review 47:It had everything we needed. Was great to put kids to bed and sit in living room.you can't do that in a family room at a hotel
Review 48:No Dislike, but would suggest some on site activities/ facilities to occupy kids when weather isn't good.
Review 49:Very central location for coastal tours, Really family friendly accomodation. Loved our stay.
Review 50:It was a challenge cooking 2 pizzas when only one shelf fitted in the oven & the other would only go in at an angle - but am sure if I could have been bothered to ask, the staff would have found me one that fitted. Too much bleach used on bathroom floor - turned my black socks orange!
Review 51:Amazing location, great views, very helpful staff. Easy parking. Good facilities. Comfy beds. Good showers. Good extras like dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, lots of loo rolls etc. So close to the Giants Causeway and many good restaurants nearby. Loved the Causeway Hotel Restaurant - go and enjoy all the puddings.
Review 52:Perfectly located for trips to the Giants Causeway, Bushmills distillery & Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. Large cottages with ample space. We arrived in the late evening on Sunday and we were kindly met and welcomed which we appreciated given that it was Sunday.
Review 53:Only had one day to stay We stayed in Winter - wonder if cottage fairs well in cold?
Review 54:Proximity to Giant's Causeway Great interesting lodgings Great for families Reasonable price Wish I could have stayed longer
Review 55:the furniture in the rooms were old. there was no coffee or tea as in hotles, so I ha dto drive to Bushmill.
Review 56:lovely location and view just 10 minutes walk form Giant Causeway. very specious and comfortable cottage.
Review 57:Only thing, shower curtains didn't seem to keep the water in the tub area and the mattress could use an update
Review 58:Very nice location to Giant's Causeway. Plenty of room for family of 5. Loved having all the bathrooms! So much to do in the area
Review 59:The washing machine was broken and we were told there were no communal facilities we could use. We were not told about the dryer room, which we could have used after hand washing our items. On a long trip having clean washing can become quite vital! Also, the cupboards were completely bare, so don't expect anything to be able to make a cup of tea on arrival (most places seem to have a few bits and pieces in the kitchen) - pick it up on the way.
Review 60:Clean, comfortable, spacious and charming. Very peaceful with great views. Excellent proximity to Giants Causeway. I would stay again.
Review 61:I can't comment on the other units in the complex, but the barn loft was due for some general upkeep such as crack filling and painting.
Review 62:On our three week trip trough Ireland it was nice to have a washing machine to do laundry and the kitchen, though sparsely equipped, worked well for breakfast and light meals. Linens and towels were provided at no extra charge which was appreciated and staff was very friendly when we arrived. It is in an ideal location for exploring Giant's Causeway as well as a day trip to Belfast.
Review 63:Charming cottage in a magical setting! A few more directions for inexperienced Americans for the use of the washing machine and perhaps a side of coffee would make the cottage excellent !! But overall cometeky charming! Causeway hotel is outstanding with such lovely hospitality !!!
Review 64:I liked how cosy and comfy these cottages were lighting the fire and relaxing the views from these cottages are amazing it's just beautiful here I've visited a few times and will continue to visit
Review 65:The cottage was well appointed with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. After a day's sightseeing it was very cosy to come home to. It was very handy to have a washing machine.
Review 66:Mattresses rather uncomfortable. Lack of decor rather unwelcoming.
Review 67:Close to Giant's Causeway, Nice layout, Farm-type setting blends in well with surroundings. Good value.
Review 68:Limited taxi service so it's walk (no footpath) or drive. Cottage so nice however you may not want to go out.
Review 69:Lovely cottage. Spacious with beautiful views.
Review 70:We had an exceptional time at the cottage which had everything we needed to settle in for our stay. Staff were fantastic and location and view were sensational. Will recommend to anyone traveling to Ireland.
Review 71:Amazing location, Comfortable beds, fantastic showers, so much space in the living area, well equipped kitchen facilities, adequate parking. What more can I say, Alan was a great host and we were only sorry that our stay was so short.
Review 72:Spacious, warm cottages. Perfect location to the giants causeway and bushmills. Alan was a great host with helpful ideas and suggestions. I'm only sorry our stay was so short.
Review 73:The property was lovely, well presented, cosy and welcoming. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable although because the accommodation was so good there was very little need to talk to them. Thank you for a great break xxx
Review 74:The cottage need a little more decorations, like old irish stuff, pictures, plants, flower (outside). It is very important, especially for the price of a night.
Review 75:The view, we were just in front of the sea, all the windows offered a view on the water and cliffs. It was relaxing, peacefull, and beautyful. The place is clean but not too much, tidy and looking friendly. The contact of the wood, and the contrast with perfectly white walls.
Review 76:Play park needs a lot of improvementFamil
Review 77:The location was ideal.Pub only 5 minutes walk away .quiet site ,superb views and very handy for Giants Caiseway .Ballintoy and Ballycastle
Review 78:The cleanliness was very disappointing - especially the kitchen - tea stains on cupboard doors - oven disgusting - drawers and cupboards had not been cleaned for a while. Microwave kept blowing the trip - dishwasher very unsteady needs secure - table lamps no bulbs - main toilet tiles ready to fall off the wall and the ensuites only had a very quick surface clean - hairs on floor etc. Stayed in the Barn but unfortunately the smell of the food from the restaurant down below was very evident in our accommodation every day.
Review 79:Very spacious accommodation - bathrooms ensuite - large table and plenty of settes. Views were splendid and WIFI facilities excellent.
Review 80:No sponges to do dishes (but at least there's a dishwasher).
Review 81:The apartment was huge (we were 2 couples traveling). It was windy, but the sound wasn't a problem; quiet place. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. Great location.
Review 82:No towels provided - left a message with manager, but received no response. No good for people who are touring.
Review 83:The location was terrific. Plenty of roomin the cottage and having a washing machine was bonus.
Review 84:Nothing
Review 85:Booked a last minute deal at a great price. Had a lovely cottage with balcony looking over the Causeway hotel, sea and fields. Plenty of room and seats in living area and en suite bathroom in every bedroom.
Review 86:The cottage and surrounding cottages were so quaint - it was so quiet at night - slept like babies! Open fire was lovely as it got chilly in the evening. Owner (Alan) was very helpful.
Review 87:We booked for one night and enjoyed it so much, decided to stay another. Nicely furnished self catering cottage in great location very close to Giant's Causeway and Bushmills.
Review 88:It was very very windy while we were there, so there were some things we couldn't do - but there was nothing our host could do about that
Review 89:This was very close to many places we wanted to go see and it was nice to be able to sit together as a family in the cottage - he even gave us tips on how to do things for a better price!!
Review 90:We stayed in the barn conversion which had country views but sadly the cooking smells from the cafe below us drifted up to us also the outside grounds around the cafe needed attention and weren't pleasent to look at. The apartment was beginning to look a bit tired attention to detail was lacking and poor quality of the single beds gave a bad nights sleep.
Review 91:The location couldn't be faulted for all the lovely sites of the North Coast.
Review 92:Not a bad word to say about the cottage, next time we won't bother with the smugglers inn though, wasn't great
Review 93:Practically next door to the causeway, so many beautiful things to see and do all within ten minutes drive of each other. Alan was brilliant, had some great tips about where to go and what to see, real gentleman
Review 94:Absolutely nothing.
Review 95:Location was excellent, fantastic views all around, only minutes from the coast. Short drive to shops, bars and restaurants. Accommodation was warm, comfortable, spacious, all mod cons, everything you could ask for. Alan and staff very friendly and helpful, well done Ballylinney!
Review 96:Our only critiscm was that no tea or coffee was available in the cottage. Being used to staying in hotels or services apartments were basic tea & coffee making facilities were available, we didn't purchase any at the shops and were caught out later in the evening.
Review 97:excellent location, friendly & helpful staff, ideal size for a large family or group of families travelling together. Comfortable & cosy little cottage.
Review 98:Nothing. All excellent.
Review 99:Great location, close to all the main attractions. Clean and comfortable accommodation .Suitable for family's and friends. Would highly recommend .
Review 100:mattress on the bed needs changing could feel the springs and also had a large dip in the middle of the bed
Review 101:Excellent location on the beautiful coast. Cottage very clean and comfortable quiet and peaceful
Review 102:Beds could be more comfortable
Review 103:Excellent location and cottage layout. Spacious and well appointed with an ensuite in each bathroom. Could easily accomodate 7 people.
Review 104:Our bathrooms were set up for handicap access. This is great if you have disabilities, but I personally prefer a traditional bath.
Review 105:The value of this place is great. It is very clean and the staff is lovely. Very close to Giant's Causeway.
Review 106:A perfect location to explore Giants Causeway. Kitchen fully fitted out, comfy beds with lots of extra blankets, a smiling friendly welcome, fantastic bathroom facilities with well lit mirrors and lovely deep bathtub for a calming soak after long day of travelling. We only stayed a night but would love to stay a week at these cottages.
Review 107:Wifi was a little patchy but getting away from the internet isn't the worst thing you can do on a holiday. Would definitely suffice for some general email/browsing.
Review 108:Really enjoyed the kitchen/living area. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Fireplace was a nice touch.
Review 109:We stayed here as 4 friends and absolutely loved it. It is very close to the Giants causeway. Our two bedroom loft was very comfy and the staff was very friendly.
Review 110:Alan the owner was fantastic. He was so helpful and told us about the area. The cottage was well equipped and clean. We will definitely be going back again :)
Review 111:Lack of wifi was disappointing.
Review 112:So close to the giants causeway, really ideal for a small group to have a night or a few nights away! A stones throw away from beautiful beaches and tourist attractions. Barn conversion was cosy, clean and had everything you could need bar a freezer.
Review 113:One minor gripe is the 4 bedroom house only has a small fridge. Otherwise no issues/problems
Review 114:Proximity to causeway. Lovely walks. A short drive to good restaurants in bushmills. Alan was very helpful
Review 115:Fantastic views and location with ample sized rooms for families. Open fireplace was a winter bonus. Close to the Causeway and Bushmills and the must do drive down the Antrim coast.
Review 116:Very friendly and helpful on arrival! Location was fantastic and xouslbt ask for more in a cottage! Has everything you could possible need! 10/10 , definitely staying again!!
Review 117:A little chilly in the bedroom but the wood burner was excellent at warming us up
Review 118:Fantastic location, charming cottage loft, very friendly and helpful host, Alan
Review 119:Only one thing, no full length mirror
Review 120:Everything, especially the log burner! Great place to stay and so warm and cozy, especially on a freezing cold January weekend
Review 121:Nothing really.. perfect for a few days away!
Review 122:Cottage was cosy but large so plenty of room for the four of us. Gorgeous views of sea and countryside. Log burning stove created wonderful atmosphere. Really pleasant stay!
Review 123:Pretty Quaint cottages from the outside, clean modern and lovely inside. Warm and cozy, all mod cons, had 18mth, 4 and 5 yr old there with grandparents for 2 nights and all had wonderful time. Amazing break even in rainy mid winter- will be back.
Review 124:Kitchen would require a few more utensils, and in general the cottage was a bit dusty and in need of thorough clean HOWEVER don't let this put you off, it's still gorgeous, highly recommended!
Review 125:Spent two nights in a two bedroom cottage "Wee Stookan". It was quaint and so enjoyable. Beautiful views of the sea, countryside and Giants Causeway visitors centre. Wood-burning stove and gas central heating ensured warmth and very cosy atmosphere (bring your own wood supply!). Looking forward to our next stay here!
