Reviews for The Burlington
Review 1:i loved everything x
Review 2:everything the staff were all helpful and wonderful the housekeepers were amazing the food very good and staff were always on hand and receptionist magnificent nothing was any trouble for them xxx
Review 3:Room quite dark. Needs better lighting.
Review 4:Top floor room was okay size wise. Little odd that when it was last redecorated they didn't replace the worn out carpet. Shower average as not much pressure.
Review 5:The hotel does need a bit of TLC. Really needs double glazing... We had quite a breeze blowing in through gaps of sash Windows but the central heating worked fine and we were only here for 1 night. The kitchen only had pizza available by the time my husband and I ordered which was a bit later than our group.. but they had warned us that this may happen if we didn't pre order. This was our choice. And the Pizza was very good. Breakfast the next morning, which was included in room rate, was great too.
Review 6:We were visiting Worthing for a reunion of friends. We had been in contact from NZ to make arrangements and the staff were extremely helpful in offering options and advice on catering. We had a lovely reunion with our friends and the staff were very accommodating. Fantastic location.
Review 7:maybe a few more coffee pouches in the room but i am being picky
Review 8:greeted with a friendly welcome was told a party was happening that night and they offered us another room higher in the hotel away from the noise beds so comfortable
Review 9:No plug in the bath. The room was very hot could not turn radiator off. We were two adults and 1 child of 4 but room very small. It was OK but not worth £140 for overnight stay. Breakfast not wonderful bit greasy.
Review 10:Dull bedrooms, very draughty windows with noise of wind coming through all night. Ready for a make-over....very tired looking hotel inside. Only stayed here due to having to move hotels at the last minute due to a water burst.
Review 11:Staff very helpful.
Review 12:Can we have mugs for tea at breakfast please, the cups are tiny! Needed to keep refilling mine.
Review 13:Was upgraded to a much nicer room when I complained about the quality of the mattress in my original room, no quibbles.
Review 14:No lift. Stairs were hard work. Bed was too small. Definitely smaller than a double! Not the best night's sleep when sharing it. Shower took ages to heat up!
Review 15:Great location. Good bar.
Review 16:Sash windows, not double glazed, so quite noisy when there is a storm raging outside (having said that, it was super windy). The room was very plain, with no pictures or decoration to speak of. Expected a bit more for the money.
Review 17:Friendly staff, good location right on the seafront, catered very well for veggie and vegan breakfast. Comfortable bed, good shower.
Review 18:Breakfast arrangement. Sitting in a room away from the breakfast area. To avail ourselves of cereal, toast, coffee etc etc meant a walk of some distance. It was far too much of a Jack in the Box feeling to get all the basics of a breakfast despite being served the full english by the staff team!!
Review 19:Room comfort and bar area
Review 20:Bedroom was awful. Very sparse. No curtains no pictures. Bed not brilliant. No view. Just a brick wall. Breakfast no vegetarian options.
Review 21:Good location
Review 22:Reception staff on arrival were very friendly - couldn't do enough for you. Room was lovely and a good breakfast. Perfect location as we were attending the Worthing & Adur Business Awards at the Pavilion - we won Small Business 2015!
Review 23:pull cord for bathroom light to high. water temp in shower changes up and down without warning . lack of space either side of the bed despite the room being very large .
Review 24:all the staff were lovely .great full English breakfast . lovely spacious room . bed very comfortable . great big TV and a lovely little fridge.
Review 25:Would have preferred a bit more in the mini bar.
Review 26:Very pleasant very modern room. Comfortable bed. Near enough to the sea to hear the waves- excellent.
Review 27:Having to climb 63 stairs to my room (406) Rattling windows. Hardly slept.Loud music.
Review 28:The staff were just so lovely. The bed and the freshly cooked breakfast.
Review 29:Noisy pipes/heating system in hotel. Window frames peeling paint Stain on upper wall.
Review 30:Friendly staff Good cooked English breakfast High ceilings
Review 31:No lift. Too hot in room despite radiator being off (this is November!). Decor is inappropriate for the age of the building. Street parking only, usually pay.
Review 32:It's right on the sea front, and the staff were friendly. Good breakfast.
Review 33:Beds could be softer. Machine coffee, it's never as good as freshly made.
Review 34:Friendly, helpful staff. One member of staff even drove us to our concert venue when there was a long wait for a taxi. Good breakfast.
Review 35:Very poor bed. Matress springs had had it. Squeaked all night. Worse nights sleep I have ever had. Breakfast poor. Porridge inedible. Sent back.
Review 36:Convenient for funeral in Durrington.
Review 37:I was on the third floor, I am not sure if there was a lift (I didn't ask) but the receptionist did direct me straight to the stairs. It would have been nice to be ask if I wanted to use the lift (if there is one)
Review 38:Nice comfortable bed and room. Bathroom was well appointed and the complimentary shaving and dental kits were a nice touch. Very powerful shower was most welcome. Free Wifi was powerful enough for my basic work needs. I didn't eat at the hotel but the restaraunt and bar area looked nice enough.
Review 39:just minor ..but had to request radiator to be fixed or it would have been very cold. Also the bath plug would not stay in the socket when you ran the taps for a bath, didn't seem to fit right. Had to hold my hand over the plug while filling bath with water or it floated off! So wish had taken my own bath plug but as it was a little late at night didn't want to ring room service for that.
Review 40:The perfect location, the breakfast room with sea views, (although if the sun is shining you might need to wear sunglasses to eat your breakfast! but not complaining about that!!...my room with very comfortable bed, reading light, a desk for writing, tea making facilities, bottled water, the whole ambience quite peaceful.... plus hair dryer and iron if needed.
Review 41:Small room - no view with limited light on third floor. Noisy on times. Hotel looked very tired and most staff not really engaged with customers.
Review 42:Room was clean although carpet and furnishings were well worn.
Review 43:Breakfast only available till 9 am is too early.
Review 44:Nice location on seafront. Small, but comfortable room and bathroom. Bar with good selection of beers.
Review 45:As one of the guests with me was an elderly woman, we were given a third floor room and the stairs were a bit of a struggle. We understand that putting an elevator in would be a huge task but I believe it would do wonders in the long run.
Review 46:Large family room. Side view of the sea. Clean and bright had all facilities you needed. Bathroom had extra toiletry items to use excellent. staff were lovely and friendly. Especially the housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 47:Had to wait in a queue quite a while to check out and had a train to catch. Also there was a charge for a drink on our bill that we never had and although this was removed immediately it was 'awkward'.
Review 48:The room was large and clean although furniture a little tired looking. Bar staff friendly and bar comfortable for a drink. Breakfast and service very good.
Review 49:I had an extremely comfortable room, staff were very helpful with parking etc, and the breakfast was delicious. I loved the location and the weather was gorgeous.
Review 50:Breakfast is served until 9am. We arrived at 8.40 and staff were already in the process of clearing away the breakfast things. We were able to finish, but just had the impression they wanted us out.
Review 51:Clean and tidy hotel with a pleasant bar with sea view. Large room and comfortable bed. Freshly cooked breakfast.
Review 52:rude receptionist. seriously poor manner. decor in room too cheap no style. service needs to be more slick. its under resourced and young staff struggling with workload and need more training. Fish and chips, batter undercooked.
Review 53:view from the restaurant. young man serving in the bar friendly and helpful no attitude.
Review 54:Requested higher floor room but lift would have been nice? Poor knees! Pillows at bit flat.
Review 55:Perfect location and Friendly Staff helpful and very nice breakfast. Clean room nice towels and even supplied toothbrushes.
Review 56:Rooms could benefit from a refurbishment, as they were "dated", and furniture a little worn ie;bed squeaking, and wobbly wardrobe.
Review 57:Friendly staff, good atmosphere, stones throw from the beach. Great selection of drinks in bar, excellent breakfast.
Review 58:None
Review 59:Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms clean and tidy. Bathroom have shaving kit, toothbrush and toothpaste witch I thought was very handy if you forget them. Breakfast was cooked fresh to order not a buffet witch is cooked and left out to serve yourself and is normally cold. I would stay here again.
Review 60:Very efficient, friendly staff on reception. Beautiful large room, double aspect with sea views. Well cooked breakfast and plenty of variety. within a few minutes walk of the pier, the town and restaurants - fabulous Thai restaurant right next door.
Review 61:For the cost, shower very poor, blinds on windows didn't keep the light out so the room was very light in the morning and with young kids we were all up very early.
Review 62:Breakfast cooked to order was nice.
Review 63:No lift, also very noisy people in the room above, but night staff seemed to sort the problem put at 2.am (!)
Review 64:Great location, friendly staff, modern design.
Review 65:On the two days we were there the weather was beautiful but there were no tables on the balacony to sit outside for breakfas which would have been nice.
Review 66:This was a fantastic hotel - the staff were incredibly helpful and had my room ready for arrival on early check in.
Review 67:Parking is a shambles - they tell you to park in zone B, then it turns out only part of zone B is allowed - they need to provide much clearer directions. I had bacon, tomato and mushrooms for breakfast and was only given one rasher of bacon!
Review 68:Lovely room, even had a view of the sea
Review 69:Evening meal was a big let down, there was a wedding reception going on, so maybe thats why the food was so bad, but out of six people only one enjoyed their meal.
Review 70:Friendly staff, right on sea front.
Review 71:Although the staff were very friendly they were very observant at breakfast time, we had to ask for a number of things that seemed to run out
Review 72:The staff were very friendly, the room was big and clean
Review 73:The Wi-Fi kept disconnecting, wished the Hotel location was nearer the Pier(although it was made perfectly clear before we booked that the Pier was a ten minute walk away), and could have done with an all night kids cartoon TV channel.
Review 74:Beautifully co-ordinated decor in the room, really comfortable beds, friendly and extra helpful staff, and top quality bacon and sausages in the cooked to order breakfast.
Review 75:The bed was quite hard and on-suite bathroom floor was sticky. Desk was covered in sugar from previous guest. Mirror over desk was wrongly positioned so could not sit under desk to put makeup on.
Review 76:Staff were friendly and attentive.
Review 77:No lift Built 1860, period building. But staff will carry if asked some issures with WiFi one evening
Review 78:great location. comfortable. very friendly staff. they will carry your bags up & down stairs if asked. Good breakfast
Review 79:Hotel messed up reservation and we had to change rooms during a 4 night stay. Noisy -- Pub directly below rooms 201 and 202 (the most expensive rooms) was open till 2am on a Wed/Thurs eve. LOUD -- Wedding on Saturday night directly below our new room went till 1am. They cared more about being a night club/wedding venue than a hotel. Room 201, 139 GBP/night: shag carpet... really?
Review 80:Location was good
Review 81:Shower water wasn't hot. Constant droning noise until nearly midnight. Noise outside window like someone playing squash all night. Mirror in bathroom at height for munchkins. Springs loose in bed and it squeaked underneath with any movement.
Review 82:Breakfast good. Location excellent.
Review 83:The only niggle was the water was not hot enough for a decent bath or shower in our opinion
Review 84:Friendly staff and executive suite good value for money in the area
Review 85:We arrived a little early as we had a wedding to go to. We asked if there was a room available were we could get changed. We were told there none but we could use the toilet! Which on inspection was dirty. Not very helpful at all
Review 86:The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the shower was a bit difficult to manage.
Review 87:The location was great and the staff was excellent. For example, I left something in my room and the housekeeper made a special effort to follow me and return the items.
Review 88:Although hotel was clean, I thought that for the money it was very dated and basic. Also the lack of a lift could have caused problems if we hadn't been able. I don't recall seeing this listed when I booked the hotel
Review 89:Location and friendliness of staff
Review 90:Internet poor staff claimed it was due to customers device but not so. Poor internet a deal breaker. No milk for tea in room lightbulb not working
Review 91:Size and comfort of room , decor and ambience
Review 92:We were located on the first floor, at weekends the function room below is in use for wedding/parties. We were only informed on arrival (info was buried in the book.com confirmation email). Floor vibrated until midnight, no other room was available. They did compensate us but would rather not have had this hassle and soured our whole experience
Review 93:Good location The hotels public areas are actually quite nice Facilitiles/bar and room were all fine Nice breakfast
Review 94:The place is a bit worn, like it had seen better days in a bygone era.
Review 95:The bar was great downstairs and the breakfast was good too. The staff were eager to help and rooms very clean with shower gels and stuff. Best chinese restuarant next door!
Review 96:I didn't like the breakfast at all. It was badly presented and the self service toast was tasteless. The bacon was very greasy and I think the portion size was too small. The window in my room was very hard to open and I had to stand on a chair to do so.
Review 97:The room was fine and the location was great. The staff were all very friendly.
Review 98:The bedroom furniture needs attention; mattress lumpy, wardrobe wobbly, windows need repair (lower one won't stay open, top window won't open at all)
Review 99:Good location, good staff, suited me well. Hot drink facility in bedroom excellent
Review 100:Needed a lift for my Sister who has a problem with stairs.
Review 101:The hotel was located in a very good area, facing the sea. Very clean, good staff easy access for public transport. A nice comfortable bar if needed. Worthing has something for all ages and is very flat if you have a problem with walking.
Review 102:Apart from the restaurant bar the buildings good features were spoilt by the interior decor Decor of rooms very tired and outdated . A lot of grubby outdated Aqua accessories, dirty Aqua rug ,and matted throw . 1980s type vases, large dried Aqua flower displays dated cheap prints etc Tea cups provided for hot drinks tiny . Little touches that made the whole feel of the room poor that would not cost a fortune to change.
Review 103:Attractive building with loads of original features with on the sea front great views good Location with nice Nice light dining room bar
Review 104:I was with my elderly Aunt and we were on the second floor. We had four sets of stairs up and down from room. We were not aware there was no lift.!
Review 105:Friendly staff.
Review 106:Room was quite basic. Window blinds didn't have a pull cord so I had to stand on a chair and close each of the shutters by hand.
Review 107:Good location; good breakfast.
Review 108:Room could do with a little tart up but was comfortable
Review 109:Location opposite the beach. Not that we used the beach but was a nice view whilst having a few beers on a sunny afternoon
Review 110:Room decor was a bit dated and the bed only a double size with a mattress that could have been better. It didn't really affect our sleep but would have expected better considering the rate.
Review 111:Fantastic service, all the staff we came into contact with were lovely. The hotel is in a good location and was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was also good with a lot of choice. Also we were given a very large family room on the top floor away from the noise. very good quality fluffily towels.
Review 112:Being picky I would have liked a swimming pool.
Review 113:Location was great. We were seeing a show at the pavilion and it was a short stroll away and right on the seafront.
Review 114:Was hoping to eat in the restaurant but on enquiring was told that the restaurant was not open except for private functions. This was not clear when I booked the room.
Review 115:Clean airy room with tea/coffee facilities. Large bathroom.
Review 116:Could do with double glazing cos it is on main seafront and can get noisy at night though I am a light sleeper.
Review 117:Relaxed atmosphere in Gio's bar, good menu and very clean. Rooms have everything u need plus more rather than little notices saying if u forgot anything we're glad to help like most chain hotels that have no idea about service. Very professional here, couldn't go enough for us. Hope to dray again soon.
Review 118:Could do with black out curtains. Shower rather weak but adequate for short stay. No bath. Not a 4 star. No parking on site and hotel charge for permits to park in restricted area.
Review 119:Room good size. Clean. Comfy bed.
Review 120:There' wasn't a lot in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and the bathroom had mould around the taps and the bathroom handle was hanging off.
Review 121:The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very nice. It is a great location overlooking the sea.
Review 122:i liked everything apart from the fact that it was a little too far away from the centre. it certainly would not put me off going there again.
Review 123:i arrived far too early but the staff made me comfortable in the bar area and said they would let me know as soon as my room was available. checkin is at 3pm which to me is a bit late especially seeing as i got there at 8.15am! by 11am, my room was ready and i was not charged anything extra.
Review 124:Bed was really hard, although we had a quiet room we could still hear music from the private functions. No free parking outside hotel, hotel charge £3 per day for parking pass, the free zone can get full quickly so a brisk walk is sometimes needed.
Review 125:Location on sea front excellent, breakfast had a good selection on offer.
Review 126:As there was a party being held, the one down point was walking through 'the smokers' to get in.
Review 127:I only stayed one night but found the staff to be very friendly. Breakfast was excellent seating in the sun over looking the sea.
Review 128:The beds were too soft and the blinds let a lot of light in the room in the morning!
Review 129:We loved the location, the character of the building, the staff were friendly and breakfast was very good!
Review 130:Bed was too soft and lumpy, old mattress Breakfast was very poor, egg massively overcooked for example. Same entrance as the club and getting questioned by security on way to bed is not very friendly
Review 131:Size of the room was very good
Review 132:The bed is a small double. Not sure why, after all the modernisation they opted for a tiny bed. The shower pressure is poor.
Review 133:Nicely refurbished. Great location. Nice relative to other seaside hotels. Pleasant staff.
Review 134:Rooms furniture bit stained paint on carpet flaking paint in room and barth room. window when lifted blind was not clean and mirror be hind the kettle
Review 135:View from window good and Worthing is nice and showerin room was good.
Review 136:The continental breakfast we had via room service could have been bigger, the fruit bowl was small and the croissants were very cold and being warm would have been better.
Review 137:The room was amazing and felt like a treat. Also being able to stay longer for only a little extra was a real bonus.
Review 138:Realizing the building is quite old, it seems as though the hotel could use a little sprucing up. Sink pedestal in the bathroom was severely cracked, and the mattress wasn't THE comfiest I've ever had.... but I didn't spend much time in the room so it wasn't a big enough problem for an official complaint. I think with proper upgrades, this property could really command top dollar.
Review 139:The staff was lovely - very friendly and welcoming. The location couldn't be beat - right across the street is the seafront and promenade. It was far enough from the center of town to avoid any excess noise, but close enough to walk. I cannot also say enough wonderful things about the breakfast!!! Absolutely delicious. Overall, really enjoyed my stay.
Review 140:Lift was out of order during our stay, we were on the top floor! wi-fi was a little weak in our room.
Review 141:Lovely breakfast, lots of choice, lovely room, great views, very nice staff.
Review 142:The hotel does need a little updating but if kept the same I wouldn't make an extreme objection. The breakfast was a little bit of a let down, the cooked breakfast portion needs to be doubled easily and the tea machine wasn't working properly. All of this is very minor though and I would be more than happy to stay again!
Review 143:The room was very spacious and the bed was ginormous and very comfortable indeed, I had an excellent nights sleep.
The Fine Print
There may be extra noise on the first floor at nights during the weekends. You can ask front desk about the availability of the rooms on higher floors for these days.Food is not available on Sunday evenings. There is no elevator at the property and no rooms on the ground floor.
