Reviews for Stay 2a
Review 1:Room was too light because of blinds and an emergency light
Review 2:Liked the comfy bed and the location. Generous breakfast.Folkestone beach was lovely and lots to do in the town.
Review 3:N/a
Review 4:The staff were very friendly , little touches like the fridge at top of stairs where we were able to help ourselves to cold drinks etc , fantastic breakfast the next day Wish we had eating in the restaurant , we did try the cocktails , well recommend Room was very comfortable
Review 5:It was a great experience all round from the friendly attentive staff, bright boutique style rooms with quirky wallpaper, delicious tapas supper and excellent well presented breakfast- quite a find , we were all very impressed.
Review 6:Radiator in room didn't work and it was cold, staff did their best to rectify but could not get it to work so we had to use a fan heater, not ideal .
Review 7:Location good, clean modern rooms excellent breakfast and parking, all round excellent choice
Review 8:the staff including the chefs were so friendly couldn't do enough for us the room was wonderful lots of free goodies and the food was the best we have eaten would recommend it plus plus plus will be back
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:Excellent!!! Immaculately clean ... Lovely exceptional room.... Little touches like free coffee, biscuits and fridge with coca cola, tonic water, soda water all included to help yourself !! Tipsey pigeon restaurant looked fantastic we didn't have time for dinner but their breakfast was second to none... Lots of choice too!!! No hesitation to recommend .. Thank you so much
Review 11:The outside of the building doesn't do the restaurant or b&b justice - the old signage makes it look shabby when it is anything but inside.
Review 12:The staff were very friendly and helpful. They even served us breakfast when we got down to the restaurant after 10:30am. The rooms decor was quirky and fun and the very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice and they also had free refreshments available to guests in the communal area. We had a very nice stay and would happily return.
Review 13:' The additional fridge. The apple juice was delicious. The friendliness of tbe staff. We appreciated the chef coming out to chat to us about the food.
Review 14:The room was quite warm so we needed to open the windows to cool it down.
Review 15:The room was huge, the bed very comfortable, and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The full cooked breakfast is impressive.
Review 16:The room TV didn't appear to have been tuned
Review 17:Friendly, helpful and attentive staff Excellent clean room and common areas Well appointed room Superb breakfast! Dinner in Tipsy Pigeon was excellent and good value
Review 18:Excellent breakfast.Easy parking right outside hotel.Extremely clean and contemporary room.Nice touch with the soft drinks in the fridge and nespresso coffee, biscuits and fruit also.Very friendly and accommodating staff.Would definitely stay again.
Review 19:A great B&B. Lovely rooms, plenty of drinks, biscuits, soft drinks, water etc supplied. Friendly staff. The food was very good. We were a bit wary of the new concept menu (small dishes) but needn't have been as it was a nice new idea and the food was excellent
Review 20:Very friendly welcome. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean. We had tea in the restaurant - the tapas selection was innovative and delicious! Would definitely recommend as a good location if travelling via the Eurotunnel.
Review 21:Noisy doors. Parking in the car park alongside is OK until 8:30 but after that you need to find somewhere else.
Review 22:Friendly helpful staff, comfortable room and a great breakfast. Overall very good value.
Review 23:You were made to feel welcome from the time we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Rooms were modern, comfortable and the themes were fun. Excellent. Will definitely return.
Review 24:The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had booked a secure parking space which they guided us to. They also provided an excellent packed breakfast as we had to leave early for our Eurotunnel crossing.
Review 25:We stayed the night before travelling through the channel tunnel and wanted to avoid any issues on the M20. It provided the perfect overnight stop with every comfort, very friendly staff in the restaurant below and great location. We left early so the owner provided breakfast "in a box" which was very welcome during the train journey. We reached the train in under 10 minutes. All in all, it was exactly as described and I would not hesitate to recommend.
Review 26:The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff were excellent! The food downstairs at the Typsy Pidgeon was very good and the room was very clean and spacious.
Review 27:Liked everything. I only stayed 1 night
Review 28:The room was fabulous called 'walk in the park'. The staff was very friendly Most of all there was a god selection of free drinks that was available to the residents. I have never experienced that generosity at any hotel, not even the top ones! So well done to Stay 2a
Review 29:The tastefully furnished and decorated soundproof room with very comfortable armchair; the friendly and helpful staff. With a superb restaurant downstairs you do not have to go out at night in search of a place to have dinner.
Review 30:The room was very hot, no airco. The bathroom wasn't clean enough. Mould in the shower. The toilet seat was loose. Parking only available until 8H30. Folkstone, is a very depressing place.
Review 31:Friendly staff
Review 32:Second time we've stayed prior to Euro tunnel. Excellent as before and the food in Tipsy Pigeon is first class, very clever idea, staff helpful and friendly.Breakfast was wonderful and set us up for the day perfectly.
Review 33:Nothing!
Review 34:A little gem! A few modern rooms above a lovely restaurant serving intriguing and tasty dishes. Complimentary soft drinks and water, breakfast was superb. Excellent value for money. The staff were terrific too.
Review 35:The only niggle was the noisy seagulls but this was more about Folkestone than the hotel.
Review 36:We had a lovely room which was bright, well decorated in a quirky "burlesque" theme and very clean. The staff were very welcoming and there were some very nice touches that went the extra mile such as the free coffee, tea, biscuits and soft drinks provided in a small kitchen on the landing. These thoughtful touches made us feel very welcome and we would certainly use this hotel again. It was very convenient for the Eurotunnel.
Review 37:Able to have an evening meal in the same building at the 'Tipsey Pigeon',very good menu.Ideal location for trains ,buses and shops.Staff very approachable.
Review 38:Arrived quite late after a horrible rainy day, with lots of delays - and the prospect of more delays at the Eurotunnel Folkestone terminal next morning. But after the warm welcome, the excellent food and drink, and the delight of the large comfortable room, we felt much much better! The service is first class, friendly Hungarian waitress, the breakfast freshly cooked, and Clive is most helpful with travel suggestions. A really pleasurable experience!
Review 39:Room was too small and not worth the £90 we paid. A couple of DIY bodge jobs were noticeable. It didn't have that extra special touch we were hoping for. Felt that we overpaid. Too much light gets in so a poor nights sleep.
Review 40:Breakfast was amazing. Service was great. Ambience was good. Room was clean and modern.
Review 41:Good directions were given with specific instructions to look out for Paul's restaurant but we weren't informed that the name had been changed several weeks prior, hence driving round the block several time. Paul did apologise for not informing us and clearly is a good host. Food was tapas style, not what we'd anticipated, the thrice cooked chips were cooked to extinction and soggy but we weren't charged for them. The Malbac was excellent but odd to bring an open bottle to the table and proceed to fill both glasses! The Rocksalt would be the place to go for a meal.
Review 42:Bedrooms were well appointed and the beds comfortable. The position was good being a short walk from the promenade. Noisy seagulls to be expected in a seaside resort
Review 43:A faultless first-class accommodation with a superb restaurant serving excellent food from an innovative menu; this is how food should be presented. The bedrooms are spotless and the decor is imaginative and fresh. The friendly owners treat guests as if they were regulars. Thoroughly recommended!
Review 44:I loved everything.. The rooms are beautiful, lovely beds, shower is amazing. Breakfast was delicious.. And the staff were so nice. Loved the fridge at the top of the stairs.. Nice touch.
Review 45:Arrived at 9pm and it wasn't clear where we needed to go. Staff weren't most welcoming or friendly - maybe annoyed that we arrived so late after long drive.
Review 46:Was very clean and well presented
Review 47:There is nothing to complain about
Review 48:The staff and the owner were extremely friendly and courteous and it offered a generous spread. All soft drinks are free and included in the price
Review 49:Check in a bit clunky if you don't have a phone when the restaurant is not open.
Review 50:Breakfast great and the room with associated drinks etc excellent.
Review 51:There was nothing not to like
Review 52:We had been down in the south of England for 11 days if only all our accomadation had been as good as stay 2a we would of been delighted , this is Deffo the place to stay it's worth going out Ur way to stay here and Clive the chef Ur meals were lovely. And the breakfast mmmmmmmmmmm.......
Review 53:Only issue I had was the breakfast was huge, would have liked smaller option (but did not realise it was large to requst this!)
Review 54:Restaurant onsite with great menu, all the free items available to take the the room, (cold drinks/tea/coffee/fruit and cholocate!)
Review 55:Had a small problem getting the freesat to work with the TV but this was quickly sorted. The bathroom in our room was quite compact and had to be careful not to bump my head on the sloping roof when going to the loo.(I am just over 6ft.)
Review 56:The room was modern and comfortable. Complimentary toiletries and tea/coffee/soft drinks. Excellent breakfast served in the restaurant downstairs.
Review 57:Nothing to complain about.
Review 58:Everything. Room brilliant, staff very hospitable. Food in restaurant for evening dinner was excellent and breakfast didn't disappoint. Will definitely be back again. Many thanks Clive.
Review 59:This is an absolutely amazing place to stay. The rooms are lovely decorated with a personal touch and the most comfortable bed! Paul and his staff are wonderful and can't be more helpful. The breakfast and the dinner are extraordinary! Paul prepares everything fresh (wonderful fresh fruit salad!). The restaurant is closed on Sundays. If you like Indian food there is a lovely little Indian restaurant up the street (5-10 minutes walk) called "Copper & Spices". Very friendly and excellent food. We liked our stay at Stay 2a so much we decided to come back at the end of our trip for two more days.
Review 60:Everything was great. Really the best place I have stayed for a while. Amazing breakfast for both of us with one being a vegetarian. Just wish we could have stayed longer. Free drinks and snacks. For me the rooms was just wonderful. Will go back on our next trip to France as its an ideal location just around 10-15 min from the tunnel
Review 61:The staff we all very friendly and professional, seeking to make sure that we enjoyed our stay - and we really did. Dinner at the hotel was great with fresh vegetables and wonderful fish. Breakfast was great.
Review 62:Bit disorganised. The room we had booked, they had given to another couple when we arrived, so we stayed in another room. They didn't ask for our room keys when we left, so I posted them back when I realised and had got home. Was twice given white coffee when I asked for black coffee at breakfast, and when I ordered toast, sat there waiting for 20 mins looking at 3 large pots of jam, as they had forgotten the toast!
Review 63:Friendly and attentive staff. Comfortable rooms. Head chef in the restaurant cooks very good food and a friendly guy.
Review 64:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 65:Stay2a had everything you want/need in a hotel. The room was spotless, modern, comfy + the complimentary hot/cold drinks is such a nice touch. The bathroom so modern had to use it. In all AbFab.
Review 66:Along with my sister and her husband, we stayed for two nights as we were going to a wedding nearby. We had dinner on the first night and it was fabulous - thank you Clive. The complimentary soft drinks and tea/coffee was a nice touch. All the staff were superb and so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Review 67:Seagulls not sufficiently aware of the time change!!
Review 68:Well appointed comfortable room with first class room amenities. Excellent breakfast and overall efficiency.
Review 69:I really enjoyed my stay me and my partner was only their for one night but it was very clean the bed was comfortable overall it was fantastic would definitely go back there.

Review 73:we had a relly good two nights the staff were so help foul and when out of there way to help us out the breakfast wos very good we would stay there agan love every min of it thanks for a relly good stay hope to see you all agan soon
Review 74:The ceiling was too low on one side of the bed and we were bumping our heads.
Review 75:Beautiful room, very clean, new decoration to high standard. The room and the corridor had facilities for hot drinks and cookies. The breakfast was also good.
Review 76:TV didn't work, had trouble accessing the building as owners were overseas but was resolved in about 15 minutes
Review 77:Beautiful and comfortable room and bathroom. Complimentary soft drinks and snacks. Good breakfast and helpful, friendly staff
Review 78:excellent place to stay, would recommend this place to anyone to stay at and would definately stay again if I was in the area, staff were very welcoming & helpful. Thank you to all the staff that made the stay a delightful one.
Review 79:No significant issues.
Review 80:The rooms were very well-appointed and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the staff could not do enough to help us have a good stay. Highly recommended and we will definitely stay here next time we are in Folkestone.
Review 81:Heating was too hot but easily resolved by turning down the Thermo and opening the windows.
Review 82:This was a very comfortable and relaxing room for a 1 night stop over before a very early start off through the Channel Tunnel
Review 83:There was nothing there we did not like!
Review 84:We thought the room, staff and food was very impressive,a very comfortable bed with a great powerful shower. We would highly recommend a stay there and would hope to stay again on our next visit to Folkestone.
Review 85:Did find one of the hand towels to have a big stain on and window sill dirty. Also had to ask for juice with breakfast but the lady sorte immediately with no fuss
Review 86:Staff really friendly and helpful. Amazing complimentary free bar..all outside room j20's, proper coffee, fruit, mints and biscuits. Best we have ever seen and well stocked up
Review 87:No problems at all.
Review 88:The staff were lovely, very welcoming and helpful. The room was spotless and had everything we needed. With the added extra of cold drinks and snacks. Breakfast was amazing we had full fry ups both mornings. Lovely stay thankyou.
Review 89:Unfortunately the wifi didn't work on my wife's computer .
Review 90:The room was lovely , staff were fantastic and Paul made us extremely welcome . Thanks for a lovely stay , we will be back .
Review 91:Arriving between 4pm and 6pm, calling as instructed and going to Voicemail. Not receiving any other arrival instructions as promised. Wifi is very weak in the rooms.
Review 92:Restaurant, decor, friendly and helpful staff.
Review 93:Had to close the window because of traffic noise from the busy street. There are some details about the room set-up that could be easily improved to increase the comfort even more, eg. reading lights on both sides of the bed; don't store the milk IN the teacups!; have the kettle near a plug...
Review 94:Very friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. The team did everything they could to make us feel extremely welcome.
Review 95:A little noisy due to main road setting but traffic calmed down after midnight.
Review 96:Attentive staff, spotless and comfortable accommodation, great location and delicious breakfast.
Review 97:The wallpaper in the room entitled 'Burlesque' illustrates the theme, but may not be to everyone's taste. It wouldn't have been our choice, but then we didn't spend much time looking at it.
Review 98:Very central, yet only 10 minutes walk from the station. Drinks, biscuits, fruit and soft drinks provided. Comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 99:On a busy road so slept better the second night when I remembered to put my earplugs in; also though I could have closed the window if it had been really loud.
Review 100:We were greeted with a smile, given local information and made to feel very welcome. A great room, bed and pillows very comfortable. Modern and tasteful. Close to the town and the sea. Delicious breakfast cooked by the restaurant chefs with a great selection. Love the fridge of complimentary soft drinks and fruit, a nice touch. Highly recommend!
Review 101:nothing at all.
Review 102:This was our 3rd visit to this amazing place.Still as impressed as the first time.Truly special setup including meals at the restaurant. We love the location (20 minutes off the ferry),the friendliness of owner and staff, the superb rooms. No wonder they are always booked out !!
Review 103:The ceiling sloped and the room was quite cramped so on one side of the bed it was difficult to move around. Parking is only available outside of the office hours of the solicitors off next door.
Review 104:Very clean, a very comfortable bed, thoughtful decor.
Review 105:The cleanliness and comfort of the rooms; the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff and the exceptional quality of the food which is beautifully cooked. I have no hesitation in awarding 10 marks for this establishment.
Review 106:What did I like? Everything really! I think giving this hotel 90% rating would be an insult. And 100% would be an understatement. So I would give it 110%. But booking doesn't allow this. :-)
Review 107:We stayed for one night at Stay 2a prior to an early journey to France via the Tunnel. The fact that it has a lovely restaurant downstairs with really great food was a huge benefit as we didn't have to find somewhere to eat after a long journey. Because we were leaving early and would miss breakfast, we were provided with a really great picnic to take with us - so thoughtful. The room was lovely and spacious, and the provision of a fridge containing complementary soft drinks and bottled water was much appreciated. We will certainly stay there next time we travel to France.
Review 108:Arrived about 4pm, keys available for 2 out of 3 rooms but didn;t know which was our's. Double glazing insufficient for noisy seagulls (most common complaint, which must be accepted at this sea-side location). Car parking inconvenient (legal arrangement with solicitors to use their off-road parking, but only out-of-office hours, so not available before 6pm and must be vacated by 8.30am. Limited on-site parking definitely not recommended - long access with cm to spare either side and awkward parking spaces. It must have taken at least 30mins to park and exit their car park.
Review 109:Superb B and B + other nice little touches eg fresh fruit and soft drinks. Stylish, large room with best quality appliances. Attentive and friendly staff. Associated Paul's Restaurant on the ground floor proved to be a top notch choice for dinner.
Review 110:A little warm on the night Noisy seagulls A slight uneasy feeling when walking around area.
Review 111:Facilities excellent Room beautifully decorated Comfy bed Extra touches :- communal fridge with soft drinks and coffee facilities Amazing cooked to order breakfast Cannot comment on restaurant did not use it but layout looked fab
Review 112:The room was modern, clean and centrally located in Folkestone town - its a refreshing change to stay in a room at a B&B which is not full of the owners trinkets! The staff were all really friendly/professional and a top quality breakfast was provided each morning in the restaurant downstairs. A fridge stocked with free (non-alcoholic) drinks was located in the hallway which was a nice touch.
Review 113:Getting used to seagulls is beyond the control of our hosts!
Review 114:Clean, fresh linen. Clean fresh decor and the breakfast was superb! Loved the choice and quality of the food. The drinks/ fruit bar was an exceptional touch and we would not hesitate in staying again and recommend it highly.
Review 115:Breakfast was average for a vegan. No soya milk or soya margarine despite knowing in advance.
Review 116:Lovely room. Extremely clean. Friendly staff. Good facilties such as free coffee and soft drinks.
Review 117:nothing to find
Review 118:Clean & modern rooms friendly staff & helpful hosts Good food for Breakfast, lunch & dinner. We will definitely come back again.
Review 119:Everything was as outlined on website, but this did not include commendation for staff, who were all terrific, professional & very welcoming.
Review 120:Nobody mentioned anything about Wifi and there was no notice in the room. Couldn't see an anti-slip mat for the very slippery bath!
Review 121:We loved the comfortable bed and spacious room - "Walk in the Park." We loved the wonderful food in the restaurant below - "Paul's". We loved the spacious bathroom. We loved the friendly staff.
Review 122:Nothing, everything was very good.
Review 123:The staff were very helpful and accommodating, there is no set breakfast time as they get the chef to cook at a time you choose even if guests have different times.paul and penny the owners were very nice and down to earth.
The Fine Print
