Reviews for Royal William Yard - Plymouth Serviced Apartments
Review 1:This is an excellent location for exploring plymouth although there are so many bars and restaurants you could do exactly what we did and hardly leave the yard. New years day was spent playing trivial pursuit in Seco Lounge drinking bloody Marys.
Review 2:Apartment was fantastic and had everything we needed. Location and facilities nearby were excellent and it was close enough to walk to the historic areas of Plymouth. Overall would highly recommend it and we will definitely stay here next time.
Review 3:The location of this apartment is simply wonderful, the views were incredible and we enjoyed just watching the ever changing scene outside. Nice ambiance on site as well. Easy to get around on public transport, saves driving.
Review 4:Not enough bars, just to have a quiet drink, but overall thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
Review 5:The location of Royal William Yard and the position of the apartment were excellent, as well as the variety of eating places. Where else can one be when H.M.S battleships pass by the window.
Review 6:The worn window locking mechanisms make it difficult to lock windows.
Review 7:The view over the River Tamer: waking up in the morning with ships passing right outside the windows. The restaurants in the complex.
Review 8:No nearby shops for those self catering and without a car. Suggest a small welcome pack of basic foodstuffs on arrival .
Review 9:Great location. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Well designed and maintained accommodation.
Review 10:Some plates little grubby and fridge not really cleaned. But only minor points!!!
Review 11:Well placed for restaurants.Great . position by the waterfront. Good for sea, country and sightseeing persuits.
Review 12:Bit worried that one of the smoke detectors in apartment had been disconnected. one tea towel not enough as no dishwasher . few of dvds provided were empty cases!
Review 13:meet and greet service. views from apartment . sunday market on the green
Review 14:Car parking is another £10 a day. The double bed is a little small for a room that would comfortably take a bigger bed. The blinds let in quite a lot of light in the morning so if you like a dark room take some eye shades ! !
Review 15:Superb location and convenient for a number of shops and bars in the yard. Apartment larger than expected, nicely furnished and well equipped. The block itself is very quiet.
Review 16:Beautiful self-catering apartment within easy reach of Plymouth city centre. We came down as a family for a university open day and wanted to make it a relaxing short break at the same time.
Review 17:When arrived after a long journey at the agreed time no one there, had to phone and wait for them to drive over, and then spent ages faffing saying I could move my car 5 meters nearer to the apartment when we just wanted to get the key. A little far out from the centre of Plymouth so would need a car (making the extra charge for parking annoying). When in though little to complain about apart from the description of 39 brewhouse says it has a balcony and it doesn't, just a big window that opens. And dripping tap in the bathroom. Overall though would highly recommend.
Review 18:Well furnished, everything you need in the kitchen, comfy bed (although gets quite light), lovely view from the window, several restaurants in the complex.
Review 19:My only real complaint was black mold on the shower head was rather grim, please sort! Otherwise, the equipment in the flat is not as well kitted out as the flat looks: much below the standard you would expect commensurate with the flat itself. Cheap and sparse utensils, grubby chopping board, not enough cutlery esp teaspoons and so on. Which while annoying, isnt the end of the world. A DAB radio would be a nice addition. Parking is general on the local area (although paid at £10 a day), it is tough to find a space when its busy. Take tea/coffee/sugar etc with you as none is provided. No local shops onsite, but we did get some supplies from the local River Canteen Deli, the rest we got from Sainsburys in Plymouth. The flat can be noisy as its near bars and cafes (we loved this, but many dont so take note). Also there are no curtains or blinds in the flat for any windows, so take a blindfold as it gets bright, which can hurt in thoses early mornings when you want a lay in!
Review 20:Fantastic welcome from the brilliant Louise helped get us off on the right foot, thank you! Lovely apartment, not ideal with children though so bare that in mind as lots of hazards here!! Both balcony a gap and a big drop, and from the open plan areas and windows. The flat was beautiful, fantastic views and lovely location, we really enjoyed watching the boats, the river and all the cafes, as did our little boy. The bath in the bedroom is a lovely touch, and the bed is lovely and big in the main bedroom, perfect for cosleepers. Really enjoyed the apartment!
Review 21:An amazing apartment in a fabulous location supported by friendly & efficient staff. Surrounded by a choice of restaurants , what's not to like?
Review 22:Nothing but would recommend booking restaurant s, it was a windy wet weekend in January but still really busy.
Review 23:Really appreciated the offer from the owner to collect my son from university as he made his way to the apartment to collect keys. It started a fabulous weekend off with a smile!
Review 24:Sound proofing between apartments is not great. Bedroom backed on to living room of next apartment so could hear conversations, even the washing up and the tv.
Review 25:Location, style and comfort of accommodation, history of the place.
Review 26:Car parking was expensive. The plastic mattress covers made sleeping in the bed very hot and some of the lights and the extractor in the kitchen did not work. Its meant to be an eco development - but no clear details of what and how to recycle our rubbish at the end of our stay..
Review 27:The combination of historic building and contemporary decor, plus the restaurants close by.
Review 28:Everything was perfect! Location was ideal, great restaurants on the doorstep, beautiful apartment that exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend the Brewhouse apartments at Royal William Yard.
Review 29:We felt that it required small maintenance jobs to be done eg toilet seat loose, shower mechanism difficult to use. A dishwasher would have been useful. It lacked an information booklet on basic and essential things.
Review 30:It was very comfortable with a beautiful view.Quite wonderful. The apartment is done to a very high standard and made for a wonderful week's stay.We were always lovely and warm but not too hot. Kitchen was well equipped but cutlery a bit minimal and no liquidiser/ blitzer.
Review 31:weather!! if you want to stay in and cook kitchen is a little short on equipment. Drainage slow in bathroom, bathroom on mezzanine floor needs some sort of shelve or unit to put wash things on and as its so big a chair or stool would be useful.
Review 32:Excellent meet and greet service. lovely apartment.good location
Review 33:It is a bit of a jog from town. Can't really just pop down to the shop to pick up an items or two. Car is really needed
Review 34:Lovely location. Clean facilities and area. Right on the water.
Review 35:The owners user book stated free parking within it which was actually charged at £10 a day. I can only assume it is outdated. The heating in the front room seemed sporadic at time. The last evening was freezing and the radiator was off the whole time. Also in the bedroom there is a pretty strong draft through the doors during high winds. This coupled with the heating dropped the room down to 15 degrees which wasn't ideal with a 1 yr old sleeping within the room.
Review 36:Location was fantastic, lots of lovely places to eat and/or drink. Brew house has a wow factor when you walk in the building and the apartment is lovely. Good facilities, amazing view. Enough room in the bedroom for a travel cot too. Furniture is nice and cosy. Liked the fact that when all the bulbs had blown on a floor lamp there were spares in a cupboard to allow you to swap them over.
Review 37:The bathrooms were poorly designed with sinks that didn't drain, no threshold strip on the shower and the towel rails didn't work
Review 38:Feeling a sense of history, the accommodation was perfect and being located near great restaurants made staying local in the evening an easy choice
Review 39:The flat is not very cosy or welcoming the furniture was spartan to say the least. and the room echoes so much it rather like being in the main hall of Euston Station. The massive french windows in the bedroom rattled all night in the wind and the one in the living room was stuck up with sticky tape so couldn't have been opened een if I had wanted to. Actually it was surprisingly mild and I would like to have opened it up and leant on the balcony. The cupboards are something else with shelves so tall you need a ladder to get to them. Small things I know but even when you are on business and when you like to stay in to work and watch TV it helps to have fresh batteries in the remote, a tin opener that works and a fan oven that also works. I would have had more ambiance if I had stayed in a large office. Lets have a bit less minimal and make it a bit more human. Was warm though.
Review 40:convenient for the centre of Plymouth.Wi fi was good.
Review 41:Only downside are the kitchen utensils - no tablespoons, only two teaspoons. Needed a cheese grater for our grandson - only small niggles though.
Review 42:Location is outstanding - views are breathtaking. Apartment is fab.
Review 43:Minor details such as no egg cups and wash basin design bending over hitting head on tap! otherwise great we would come and stay again.
Review 44:Location, surrounding restaurants, quality of accommodation accessibility for HMS Raleigh via Torpoint Ferry Loved the little ferry to Barbican.
Review 45:Beds were uncomfortably hard. Parking may be a hassle in the high season as there is no dedicated unit parking although not an issue in early October. Could use some additional utensils in the Kitchen, no microwave dishes as a minor gripes.
Review 46:Excellent location with great views of the harbour, excellent surrounding restaurants at reasonable Value. Cheap ferry service to the Babicon through the day for a great variety of lunchtime choices for lunch with excellent views again of the harbour. Appartment was modern and very roomy for 4 adults and well appointed furnishings. Would stay here again.
Review 47:39 Brewhouse has less furniture (no desk, bedroom drawers) and equipment ( TV in bedroom, router in the flat), compared to 40 Brewhouse, but these were minor quibbles
Review 48:Location, restaurants, view over the Tamar
Review 49:needed to phone to find out how the bath/shower tap worked RWY itself lacking in some facilities (e.g. cashpoint)
Review 50:great location proximity to facilities space and well equipped
Review 51:On the staircase up to bedroom, there are quite a few nails protruding from carpet, also the join at carpet/wooden flooring in upstairs bedroom. Shower seemed to take a very long time to drain and sometimes water came out onto tiled floor downstairs bathroom.
Review 52:opening the big wooden doors in the evening and sitting watching the world bo by.
Review 53:Nothing extra was really needed. Our journey was absolutely great because of the great appartment and location.
Review 54:Everything was great. The appartment was well equipped with all sorts of amenities. Very spacious, comfortable and staff and maintenance extreemly responsive. The area were the appartment was located was absolutely beautiful. We had rented a car but even without any sort of transportation the cab to the city center cost no more than 5 GBP.
Review 55:I booked the Royal William Yard as a birthday surprise for my husband. I wasn't disappointed and neither was he. The apartment was spotless and in a beautiful location overlooking Mount Edgcumbe estate in Cornwall. There were lots of restaurants of all varieties and some lovely walks too. Will definitely be going again.
Review 56:We liked everything!
Review 57:Having booked a short break as a surprise 60th birthday present for my husband, we were thrilled! The view is second to none and the apartment modern and very well equipped.
Review 58:The apartment was modern, comfortable, clean and very well situated with fantastic views across the bay to Cornwall. There is a quite a range of restaurants and eateries within the Royal William Yard itself and you are only an easy stroll (3km) or a quick taxi or ferry trip from the Barbican. I would definitely recommend these apartments to anyone coming to Plymouth
Review 59:Hate to complain when we were very happy to be there but... A big shame that the bed did not match the opulence of the rest of the apartment. Heaps of space for something bigger but just a very small standard double - way too small! We were so impressed with everything else and loved the apartment but the bed was a real problem for us.
Review 60:We were in Brewhouse #39. Very spacious apartment. Ultra modern. Stunning full view of the river - wonderful to be able to open the full length doors fully to enjoy the outlook. Good facilities. Great location - choice of restaurants just downstairs. Ferries to the Barbican and Mt Edgecumbe. Very helpful, friendly agent met us as arranged. Car was parked just outside - very convenient.
Review 61:The appartment was absolutely stunning with all the facilities you would need inside the appartment. A good mix of restaurants. The location couldn't be beaten and we took the ferry to the Barbican more than once.
Review 62:pillows on the bed were too firm, but everyone has a different preference!
Review 63:Stunning views, lovely open plan apartment, light, airy, modern, comfortable, would stay again!
Review 64:Fridge not turned on for when we arrived. Only 2 towels on arrival but agent organised more for the next day. Fresh milk in the fridge would be nice.
Review 65:Flat bright and welcoming. Agent very thorough and polite Flat clean and well equipped
Review 66:Shower over Bath. Lack of convenience store within complex for apartment living.
Review 67:Location, Quietness and whole concept of Royal William Yard. Restaurants excellent. Very well equipped apartment
Review 68:Very noisy seagulls lol! And bit too bright with blinds in bedroom so be prepared to wake up early :-)
Review 69:Apartment was fantastic and very well kitted out. Better than a home from home! Location was brilliant. Good restaurants and tea rooms on site, water taxi to Barbican for more restaurants, bars and sightseeing. Easy access to Plymouth Hoe and City centre - either bus, walk or taxi. Brilliant!
Review 70:Nothing
Review 71:The views from the apartment. Very we'll equipped if you wanted to cook all of your meals there although we did enjoy some meals at restaurants within the Royal William Yard. Very useful having the ferry to take us to the Barbican for a small charge. The helpfulness and support from James during our stay. We look forward to staying there again
Review 72:Nothing at all... except we had to return home !
Review 73:cleanliness of apartment the building and surrounding buildings restaurants location...so much to do everything about it Perfect !
Review 74:* Too light at night for me - I really needed an eyemask.
Review 75:* Amazing location and views * Loved the buzz and vibe from the restaurants below * Simply a gorgeous apartment
Review 76:No dislikes
Review 77:Location was perfect. Great places to eat and have a relaxing evening drink within the Royal William Yard development. Very quiet. Washing machine which is great for travellers. Fantastic views. Well appointed kitchen if needed.
Review 78:Because of the unusually hot weather and only 2 windows upstairs, we were sweltering at night, with the fan which was provided making little difference, perhaps you should consider installing ceiling fans or air conditioning...
Review 79:We enjoyed the location of the apartment, with its ferry to the center of Plymouth, it ideal for exploring the city. We loved the way the buildings have been restored with every convenience. And of course we enjoyed trying out the excellent restaurants just downstairs.
Review 80:My wife found the River Cottage outside diner noise excessive in thelate evening.as apartment 40 is immediately above the diners.
Review 81:Views, apartment and it's facilities, modern decor and the RoyalWilliam Yard location.
Review 82:Noise from restaurants below, especially late evening and weather was hot so we had to keep windows open.
Review 83:Walking distance to a range of some of the best restaurants in Plymouth a big plus. Quick access to Barbican, but shame this does not run past 5pm.
Review 84:Could have done with more crockery. There were only 4 of everything, which is not enough if you intend to use the dishwasher. An electric mixer and other cooking appliances...but no hairdryer! The area is being developed and as yet there are no shops on site for buying supplies, so stock up before you go. There is only a small shop about a 10 minute walk away outside of the complex.
Review 85:The view from this apartment, in the historical RWY is simply stunning. Full length doors open to view all the activity below, and the boats in the harbour. It is a fabulous conversion, beautifully fitted out, comfortable and practical. There is a huge choice of excellent restaurants in the area. The Bakery in particular is a 'must visit', great for breakfast and lunch. A small ferry every hour can take you to the Barbican, and the centre of Plymouth. *Let them know your time of arrival and they will be there to meet you.
