Reviews for Abela 1
Review 1:Just a warning, you will need a means of transport if you stay there.
Review 2:Very hospitable people. Very well equipped studio. Near the sea and a very good restaurant nearby.
Review 3:We had booked Room on Ablela1, and the owner was insisting that Abela1 rooms are not at Bookingcom. Therefore we received a room high up in the hill and not in front of the sea as we had booked! Also, if you are taller than 1,70m you don't fit in the bed. Plows have to be changed immediately! Terrible experience!!!
Review 4:Location! The only thing that lets this property be one of the best in Syros is the location. There is no shop within walking distance and there is only one bar/resaturant - which when we visited on the first night had only 3 items from the menu available. The staff helped us out thought by driving us to the nearest supermarket to stock up for the week but overall the location was disappointing for us. If you are happy to be based in one place or willing to pay for taxi's everytime you need to go anywhere then this will be fine for you. If you could move this property and place it on the otherside of the cliff (within Mega Galos) it would be perfect.
Review 5:The staff were friendly and overly helpful with every aspect of our trip even before we arrived. The apartments are lovely and spacious and very clean. Free Wifi worked great in our apartment and that was a big bonus for me.
Review 6:Nothing. Everything was absolutely perfect. If you don't rent a car you should check if there's any public transportation nearby.
Review 7:The owner of the apartment was checking that everything was ok every single day. He also brought us homemade food almost every day and lent us an iron to iron some clothes we needed to wear to a wedding. The view from the apartment is breathtaking and you can reach the beach in 2 minutes by foot. The beach is absolutely beautiful and the water is very calm, clean and transparent, the perfect beach for children (we were traveling with a 1 year old baby). There's a good restaurant with typical Greek food just next to the beach. We rented a car and in 5-10 minutes we could reach an area with supermarkets, gas station, etc. In 20 minutes aprox you can be in the capital of the island, Ermoupoli. Really good deal for the price.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:The welcome gifts he left, every day he came to see if we needed anything or taking anywhere. If only other apartment owners were like him the world would be a nicer place. He even took chairs down on the beach every day for us
Review 10:None
Review 11:Makis and his family made me so very welcome. The bay is lovely. You can get a bus to Mega Gialos and walk for 8 minutes around the headland by the little church. Well equipped kitchen, nice bathroom. Gt garden
Review 12:δεν είχαμε και άλλες ημέρες στην διάθεση μας για να παρατείνουμε τηνδιαμονή μας εκεί.
Review 13:ολα! το τέλειο μέρος για χαλάρωμα, ρέμβασμα και γέμισμα μπαταριών.συστήνεται ανεπιφύλακτα! όσο για την σχέση ποιότητας - τιμής .... χωρίςλόγια .τέλειο.
Review 14:Wi-fi slow at times
Review 15:Excellent hospitality, hosts were kind and extremely thoughtful, attending to our every single need. Rooms were kept meticulously clean, we were offered cold water and wine and treated to local tastes. A thoroughly pleasant and relaxing experience
Review 16:When we entered the room there was a cold bottle of water waiting for us in the fridge(midday in August) and a bottle of a local red wine on the table along with a local sweet "loukoumia". The family who owns the place helped us with our heavy luggage. The room was spacious and really clean. Towels & linen changed every 4 days. Special safety covers on plugs where the kids were sleeping. Real professionals, available and present with sincere hospitality and smile. The owners are excellent& every few days we were treated with some of their own grapes, homemade cakes and jam. For the 10days of our stay all 4 of us had a great time. Highlights: excellent view& on the beach in 2'. It was a great summer holiday in the ideal location. We can't recommend this place more!
Review 17:Was perfect.
Review 18:Abela has 2 different buildings - one at the front virtually on the beach - the other maybe 100 meters back. I would recommend the back apartments they are quiet, with wonderful views and very comfortable. The kitchen is fully operational, the balcony looks to the sea. Its basic but it all works and the owners - make you VERY much part of the family and are VERY helpful. Abela bay is wonderful - quiet with wonderful crystal clear water. There is nothing at the bay but one fantastic taverna - I ate there every day. Its amazing. It is probably best with a car as bus stop 7 minutes walk and there is no shop, so you will need to bring all with you. Thou with a great beach and a great taverna what more could you need.
Review 19:Very helpful staff, would do anything to help. Close to beach, private setting, gorgeous, unspoilt cove. Wifi was good. Helpful to have a car, but very good as a secluded getaway.
Review 20:our daughters were scrathed in the waters by some plants or even medusas, red inflamation and real pain. Be sure to have some medicines with you, we had SUMMERLINE after bites stick, from local pharmacies. Works! No mosquitos, but a lot of small spiders. They bited us all, for many nights in row. We traveled in the begining of July, the sea temperture was kind of low.
Review 21:This beautiful apatment is situated in a small gulf. There are about ten apartments in a new building, up on a small hill. A small foot path, with stairs, will reach in few minutes the beach, with sand and peebles. There are umbrellas on the beach, free of charge, and a small shower. The apartment itself is beautiful and spacios, with two single beds and a double one. They cleaned it everyday. A lot of cooking facilities, oven and two rings cooker. Strong WIFI. same wifi down on the beach. The owners are very kind and ready to assist you. We arrived late in the night from Athens and they waited us, with some cold wine. Every two days we received home made sweets, very yummy. Down the hill, near the beach, there is another building with older apartments and a taverna, same owner. We visited many times the capital and port, Ermoupoli. It is a very beautiful city, chic, built in an Italian style. Narrow streets with shadow, shops and tavernas. Very pitoresque. There many beautiful churches, both orthodox and catholic. It is close to Abela apartments, 10 km away. If you travel with children, as we did, you will find Ermoupoli the ideal destination for evenings, they even have a special mini train for a small city tour, 30 minutes, Tickets 4 euro, children under four years for free. Here you find pharmacies, shops and supermarkets. All are closed during siesta, from aproximative 13.30 to 17. Gas is a little more expensive than Athens. We stayed for eight nights and we enjoyed it. If you are looking for a quiet summer destination, Syros island is the place.
