Reviews for St Rita Hotel
Review 1:The rooms were filthy, the bed sheets hadn't been changed, the bathroom was dirty, the mattresses all had springs sticking into your back. Could've had a better night sleep in my car. As for 'parking' - a narrow road leading to a drive that would fit one of two cars, hardly enough for a 'hotel'.
Review 2:The lad at reception was fairly helpful when I asked for a room change.
Review 3:A terrible experience. The room was very cold with radiators not working and the shower was stone cold. No hot water available in the room. The room was dirty and even when I thought the bedding was changed, in fact it didn't. The same sheet was used with dirt and crumbs all over. I ended up staying in the hotel and not being able to either have a shower or feel warm. I had to sleep with my clothes on to warm myself up!
Review 4:Very noisy toilet. Windows not up to much- heard the traffic all night long Shower could of been more powerful
Review 5:Changed the TV straight away once I told them it wasn't working.
Review 6:Finding the parking at the back needs signs: I drove past the hotel three times trying to find where to go.
Review 7:My room was lovely: large and comfortable with some hilarious leopard wallpaper on one wall. I slept very well in the room. In the morning I realised I had no kettle or milk but got them quickly and was allowed to check out a little later for the inconvenience.
Review 8:The place badly needs some DIY and a really good clean. There was a sticky mark on my tv table which looked pretty gross, and the towels (when they remembered to give me one) were threadbare and full of holes. They do clean though, as the spray cleaner was left on my chest of drawers for three days. It didn't move though.. I found it quite expensive considering how old and run down it is.
Review 9:the staff were friendly, if a little wacky. The guy at reception seemed genuinely surprised when I said I was staying for a week, he also told me I was posh and that he was very hungover from a big night out! There was a kettle and tea / coffee making stuff, the kettle lived on the floor as the enormous TV was on the coffee table. A colleague staying there said she had biscuits in her room every day, perhaps they had run out when they got to my room. Wifi in the room which was good. I never tried to watch the TV, I used it to hang my towel on as there was no where for that.
Review 10:Hotel does not return email queries about time of arrivals and parking. Parking in dark back alley, hard to find on own and seemed unsafe. Overpriced for the quality of the room.
Review 11:not much
Review 12:First room was nice with clean snd tidy room and on suite . However for our second night we moved rooms which wasn't a problem however, the TV was very loud and made a continual buzzing sound so was unwatchable
Review 13:View at back yard!
Review 14:Basic but clean and good space.Staff polite and helpful.A bit creepy parking space at the rear but hey-ho. I parked in the road nearby. Defo good for the price. Thanx ST Rita.
Review 15:It was a bit hard in the beginning to find the hotel's parking location. Also, I asked for two single beds, and apparently they only had double beds. This information was not given to me in time.
Review 16:The location of the hotel was great, very close to the city center. The staff was kind!
Review 17:Springy beds, broken window latch which meant it didnt close properly. Requested a cot which they didnt provide.
Review 18:Very friendly staff, cheap and cheerful.
Review 19:I know we got a good deal but that shouldn't excuse the experience. Very poor customer service, very uncomfortable sleep, very outdated. Wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't go again.
Review 20:Nice and spacious double ensuite room with two beds and sufficient storage was really good value for the amount that I paid. The staff were professional in assisting me with all the information I needed.
Review 21:If you are looking for a "no frills" - uncomfortable budget hotel, this could be your place. Family room on 3rd floor, mattress with broken springs, "shredder" toilets that wake you up periodically at night, noisy busy street outside, and windows that don't shut properly. The staff was helpful by allowing us to store pram downstairs to avoid carrying up 3 flights of stairs but nowhere to be found the next morning when we needed to collect it!
Review 22:Location near train station
Review 23:Nothing if was staying more than a night would of wunted a refund . curtain handing off the rod no mattress covers uncomfortable and thought breakfast included but was extra on top of £65.00 anight very over priced
Review 24:Price. £45 for one night. Facilities. TV didn't work properly. Half the channels didn't pick up and the TV was buzzing. The bed was really uncomfortable. Atmosphere. The guy at reception spoke to me more like a friend than a paying guest. When approaching him you are greeted with "alright mate". Nice enough chap though. There was also a problem of constant banging from other guests.
Review 25:This hotel is close to the local town. The free tea and coffee in the room.
Review 26:Awful mattresses with springs digging in to your body. No towels provided. Toilet on a different floor. Threadbare carpets. Toilet light did not work. Smoke alarm low battery alarm sounding all night.
Review 27:- WiFi didn't reach our room which meant no music! - Parking was dire, it was a very narrow/full road and all spaces were taken. - Back door was left open all night.
Review 28:- Helpful staff. - 10.30 check out time.
Review 29:Everything was just grotty and old and had no care- the room was furnished like a bedroom with mismatch dirty sheets, massive amounts of unnecessary storage space and so on. There was no practicality about the room- having to get out of bed to turn the light off why wasn't there a lamp?
Review 30:It was in a good location that was quiet close to the city centre and I suppose it was a good price for a last minute Saturday night away
Review 31:Over rated and needs a severe cleaning, upgrade required before listed again should be inspected by experience personel in the travel industry.
Review 32:Nothing.
Review 33:No welcome folder in room, no details of any services/facilities. Much more important - no fire escape route details in the room. TV needed retuning on arrival. En suite very tiny - door opened virtually touching the bath, WC in a very small space, shaving mirror in darkest part of bathroom with no light. No other mirrors in the bedroom.room. No hot water in taps and very poor water pressure
Review 34:Young lad on reception was very pleasant & helpful
Review 35:It was horrible, staff extremely rude, the room was filthy & the carpet had fleas!! We booked for two nights but after we were bitten by fleas we couldn't stay for the 2nd night. When we complained the young man behind the counter became aggressive & started screaming in our faces & swearing at us & in front of my elderly parents! Overall horrible experience, would advise everyone to steer clear of the place!
Review 36:Nothing!
Review 37:Due to an early start (6:45 am) no breakfast was available. Neither was hot water for washing or a shower. This is unacceptable to any guest, and you should reconsidering your recommendations for this hotel!!
Review 38:Appalling hotel has so called superior room had to be moved to equally squalid room. If this hotel continues to appear on your site will rethink about using you in future.
Review 39:Staff in the morning when we left were unhelpful and took ages to answer us (even though we could see them talking and eating through the window when we were ringing the buzzer).
Review 40:Guy that showed us to our room was very pleasant and helpful.
Review 41:It would probably have been more comfortable to sleep on the floor! Free wifi was advertised but could only be received on the 1st floor
Review 42:good supply of hot water and bathroom cleanliness
Review 43:wifi did not work in room, lights did not work, curtains did not draw, no toilet in room, shabby décor, room noisy. Glad only stayed one night!
Review 44:helpful staff
Review 45:Upon arrival the reception smelt really bad, We was kept awake all night by a crying baby which obviously you can not help but it would of being nice to of been informed as after a 6 hour drive this is not what you would want!
Review 46:The room was big which was nice, how ever the shower was very poor.
Review 47:room was clean but really needed work as done on the whole house .our curtain was hanging off. carpet needed cleaning ..tv only had 1 channel and must have been 20 yrs old ..no bed side lights ..breakfast was the worst bacon was hard eggs hard and over cooked tomatoes were cold .and the first lot of toast came 5 mins before the rest so was cold when it was needed ..cheap coffee was horrible and was the one thing i need first thing ..if this place had money spent on it giving all rooms ensuites and do all these other things this place really could be a gold mine and could charge far more £80 id pay it .perfect position for town and train station
Review 48:our beds and room were spottless ..young lad that checked us in was lovely .very helpful .this place could
Review 49:I did not like the way I was treated at the reception. At the surfuca all ok - the basics were done properly but nothing close to make you feel welcome.I asked about breakfast, answer: nothing just read the note and as a result had no brakfast. I wanted to extend my stay but heard "NO" straight away. Next day Vacancies sign was on.
Review 50:A little bit of modernising, and a lick of paint needed. Perhaps the telly may have worked two if the aerial was plugged in properly - something which was wrong in a couple of rooms.
Review 51:Location was perfect. -- perfect for Plymouth away too. Host was excellent
Review 52:In fairness, I opted for a budget twin room with shared bathroom, so I guess you get what you pay for. The 'car park' isn't easy to find - take the side road a few houses down from the hotel and park in the space indicated by the sign. Maneuvering space is limited though. If you're not fussy about decor, modern (or even matching) furniture, or comfy beds, then you'll be fine. You'll need earplugs though - there's a lot of noise from the road outside.
Review 53:The guy I assume to be the owner/manager was friendly and helpful (although he was only around at breakfast). The hotel is also just a 15 minute walk from the town centre, so handy enough.
Review 54:carpet in room dirty , pillows smelled of someone had slept on them with dirty hair. bathroom facilities looked old well used . room on street side , working nights cobwebs on ceiling.
Review 55:friendly staff only saw one on arrival did not see one again except one woke me up to tidy my room 2 hours after i got into bed after a night shift ,linen clean
Review 56:The en suite was very basic. The electric sockets were not fitted well to the wall. Stairs were unsafe. Definitely not a safe building for young children.
Review 57:Needed more tea and coffee in room as well as breakfast should of come in with the £50 charge for room but had to pay extra per person.
Review 58:The room was very big and clean and the bed was really soft and warm.
Review 59:A very, very worn place. Depressing surroundings (backyard, parking). Breakfast not includet (but option to buy it seperately).
Review 60:Very cheap. Very, very big room. It was with no comparison the cleanest hotel we experienced through our vacation.
Review 61:The young man at reception was rude and unhelpful. he watched me struggling to enter then let me struggle up the stairs with my bags while leaning on his counter. I'm 65 and didn't appreciate this. There were long, dark hairs in my bed and the pillow was smelly. The following morning between 8 and 8.30 I couldn't find anyone downstairs so left without breakfast
Review 62:it was relatively cheap
Review 63:Bed was too small even for a double, our room window opened onto the road so having an open window to keep cool was difficult after 3 am
Review 64:Very tidy and friendly hotel,we stayed for 5 days and would return when needing another budget hotel.
Review 65:Bed not comfortable, rooms not ensuite but pros outweighed cons. Would definitely stay there again.
Review 66:Excellent location for city centre shopping. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 67:The mattress and duvet must have been 25 years old it had stains on the bedding and had been sprayed with something to cover up !! There was no soaps and a shower with curtain , it carpets to match ,,!
Review 68:Nothing
Review 69:See through curtains, no fan (very hot evening,) tv signal kept going. But all can be excused due to cheap price which was booked last minute.
Review 70:Nice area to stay in with a reasonable price. Perfect for having a little break in Plymouth. Central Park is located just outside the hotel which we chilled on in the sun.
Review 71:very noisy guests late at night and noisy road to the front. Curtains needed lining to shut out summer light. The first thing the guy on reception said to us was "you have not paid". Interesting welcome. I was surprised it was rated as three star
Review 72:large room and comfortable bed. Had the feeling this was a hotel with work in progress.
Review 73:It's the worst guest house I've been. It's quite far from the station. When we got in the room, it smelt nasty. The drain in the bath room was stuck. The pillow and blanket cover were dirty. Me and my husband felt itchy when we used them. They looked like never washed and used for everyone. There was one sofa in the room and I saw some food are stuck on the side of the armrest. The wifi is never working. It doesn't worth any single penny. It was unacceptable. I will never go back there again. Worst experience ever.
Review 74:hotels a little dated beds not too comfy
Review 75:was a big clean room, wit our own bathroom which for 4 girls genuine ready for a night out was gud! Close to town
Review 76:Booked this for my son and partner for 3 nights. When they booked in they were shown to their room to find it was still occupied by a Polish guy who was allowed to stay in the room. They were given a room with bunk beds and a single bed (I had paid for a double room) The next day they were moved to a room with better facilities Scored it poorly because of the initial foul up with the booking.
Review 77:Close to the centre
Review 78:The beds are very uncomfortable however I wouldn't let this put you off for the price
Review 79:Cleaner than most much nicer hotels I've stayed in! Location is excellent and it has off street parking of a sort.
Review 80:Wen I booked it didn't tell me about a shared bathroom, I thought budget just ment it was cheap, the curtain fell down as I opened it n staff refused to put it bk up due to them not Bein tall enough, so my partner who has recently had an operation, found himself climbin on things to put the curtain up so we weren't havin to wake up at 5am with day light, also it was very thin walls we could here voices an bangin around, then to find out we had to share a toilet down the corridor, bearing in mind we had a 4 year old with us it was not safe, plus no breakfast as u had to pay extra,
Review 81:Plumbing system and traffic outside very loud. Needs a good clean. Smells of damp.
Review 82:Great central location. Good value for money. Staff helpful. Brilliant shower. Water constantly hot.
Review 83:basic, cheap, clean. only wanted a cheap place to stay and thats what we got. £20 each for the night. wasn't really expecting the ritz! can't grumble
Review 84:Very bland room and dull. Simple and basic. The electric blew in the toilet which put my room in darkness. I had an early start at 5am - so dressed in the dark.
Review 85:Very friendly and close to town
Review 86:I didn't like the dirty bathrooms and the unclear information about when I could check out, I felt like an fool
Review 87:I liked that their was good wifi and clear tv monitor working in the room
Review 88:No wi fi upstairs Decor poor and two light bulbs needed replacing Shower hose leaked water onto the floor No proper parking facilities TV reception basic Thin room partition walls and snoring sleepers could be heard at night
Review 89:You get what you pay for!
Review 90:The decor in the corridor
Review 91:The room was very nice it was a nice surprise because the rest of the place isnt brilliant. But was very happy with the room.
Review 92:There was no staff avaliable in the morning to check out. I had to leave a note. The telly didn't work properly.
Review 93:The room for the price but we were upgraded so I can't comment on the room we should have been in. Would stay again if could get the same sort of room for price and would bring others
Review 94:Needs some modernisation in way of tvs and lick of paint in some areas
Review 95:This hotel is in great location and everything is to hand been partially sighted staff very helpful
Review 96:Me and my partner didn't appreciate being woken up numerous times by room 14, especially when they insistently knocked on our door at 4 in the morning!
Review 97:The room was lovely and the staff were very kind
Review 98:Advertised as a 'Bed & Breakfast' & was informed that breakfast was not included. (?!). Place had an uncared-for appearance about it & staff appeared to match that in attitude. Bedroom was almost too small to be a habitable space. Strange un-cleaned stain on table leg. Stayed somewhere else the next night & the difference in terms of service, friendliness & breakfast was really noticeable. Reading the other reviews, I can only think that they had to have been posted by the owner!!
Review 99:Had a lovely bath. Mostly very clean.
Review 100:Lots of small things missing like no hangers, no towel rails, no spare power point to charge phone etc. Had to ask reception for the wi-fi pin.
Review 101:Location
Review 102:Didn't like the heating not coming on till 7pm, but when I asked at the front desk the man kindly offered to put the heating on earlier so not a big problem
Review 103:No mention was made of breakfast, a pity.
Review 104:I liked the eventual help of the staff member who sorted out the heating issue. The hotel is made up of two big houses joined together.
Review 105:Very basic bedding and towels very worn no shower curtain so bathroom flooded
Review 106:The room was clean but very basic no WiFi no heating for first night staff did not inform us that it was broken cheap and cheerful
Review 107:Rooms very cold no heating but there was two radiators. Bathroom window was broken it did not close correctly. Free wifi that you could only get stood at reception. The free wifi if offered should be accessible all over the hotel.
Review 108:Good nights sleep, clean rooms mostly quiet to say its a main road location. Awesome shower first thing in the morning.
Review 109:I just needed a cheap room for 1 night and this place fitted the bill. The manager offered me cereal for breakfast foc which I thought was very good of him.
Review 110:Damp in the bathroom. Wallpaper hanging of the walls. Door only locked from the outside so had to sleep with the chair against the door. No heating on the whole time we were there. It was freezing. Had to waken the member of staff to make our pre organised breakfast on sat morning. Also only given one bath towel per person that was left to re use the second day. No hand towels left at all throughout the stay.
Review 111:Staff were resonably friendly when i spoke to them. Rooms were clean. Brought us a different telly when we explained ours was broken.
Review 112:Cold, noisy. Bed linen was dirty, stained pillows, toe nail on floor! Milk for tea/coffee was out of date by 2 months! Disgusting. ..don't waste your money!!!
Review 113:Closeness to car ferry
Review 114:Room wasn't as warm as we hoped, bath in room was not cleaned out and we had to do it our self's
Review 115:The room we stayed in was felt peaceful the staff where very welcoming
Review 116:Missing bed slats so fell through bed when sat on it. Empty beer cans inthe wardrobe. Dirty bedding. Glass door was shattered- the outer sidehad plywood in it but from the inside you could have easily cutyourself. Very dirty. Get the health inspectors in!!! Our site workerscouldn't even stay one night here. We didn't get the firstnights money refunded. Very poor all round.
Review 117:Broken light in the room, not enough towels, bedding smelt damp, room was freezing cold! 2 girls ended up sharing a single bed with 2 blankets and were still cold! Another one of the girls left Plymouth and travelled back to redruth because she couldn't cope with the cold.
Review 118:The member of staff who greeted us was very polite and friendly. Told us the best places to go, we had a bulb out In our room that was broken so he got us a lamp. That was the best part of out stay.
Review 119:No heating in the room, we were freezing all night!! The window did not close over night Terrible terrible place to stay! Would not reccomend anyone going there!! Could hear people next door coversation! Bathroom floor was drenched
Review 120:Location was ideal
Review 121:If you offer breakfast, you should be there to assist. Apart from the jam packets there was nothing else on the table.... Empty reception, no answers when ringing. If you search for them and open their store room, you will find the milk and coffee sachets on the floor next to the cleaning bucket. Maybe it was better not having anything to eat there. Light bulbs not working... DISAPPOINTING
Review 122:The facilities of the double bedroom room 7 were excellent with the full bathroom, tea/coffee, freeview and comfy bed. Room was quiet even though near main road.
Review 123:All very good just ,please inprove internet conection,
Review 124:All staff very friendly ,and very clean ,and good breakfast,I was very happy with hotel service, and recomended that hotel for stay . Bruno
Review 125:No wifi in rooms only common area. Think this is more of a backpackers. Lots of students. Noisy - hear the next room and people coming home.
Review 126:A large comfortable room not too far from the city. Cheap place to stay
Review 127:Bit old fashioned, needs decorating.
Review 128:Good value for money, especially for Plymouth Although its not that close to the city there is a Wetherspoon down the road to grab a bite to eat Free Parking Nice lad on reception
Review 129:every thing felt dirty the toilet leaked sewage on to the floor the cover was missing from the saniflow which made the most all full noise when the toilet was flushed dare not have a shower as I thought the pump would fail .Not up to the quality I have come to expect from booking.com will not go back .
Review 130:good tv
Review 131:Did not get the morning wake-up call, agreed on the night before. By coincidence I woke up as scheduled anyway.
Review 132:Location close to railway station. Rate.
