Reviews for L'Auberge Basque - Chateaux et Hotels Collection

Review 1:the noisy location closed to the road the welcoming limonade the small screen tv at 4-5m form the bed the internet connectivity

Review 2:the sunset on so beautiful basque hills

Review 3:We did not get the room we booked. We had 4 dogs with us so requested a large room. The room we were given was small although it did have the benefit of a private terrace

Review 4:The quality and standard of finish in this hotel was excellent. Staff very good and the restaurant superb. We had a fantastic dining experience and intend to stay again on our way back from Spain to England.

Review 5:Restaurant is the primary focus, hotel comes second. Sometimes had trouble finding staff at front desk cause they were always working in restaurant. Also not many public spaces not connected to restaurant or where you wouldn't be in the way of the restaurant should it be open.

Review 6:Such a charming property! Felt very authentic Loved our room with it's own private balcony. Breakfast available by room service at no extra charge was a nice touch

Review 7:- I was in the room N#2 (suite) where it was imposible to hear the sound of the nature because of the noise of the hotel machines - The air conditioned was broken and only when we complained we were informed of the problem. It was 37 degrees outside and 40 inside the room...terrifying. - The sencond night it started to rain hard and there were leaks in the roof, water was falling like a spring in our suite. - Although we had thrown the towells on the floor to be washed, they returned us the same ones just fold and three days were left the same towels, completely unacceptable.

Review 8:- The best thing is the location, in the midle of the countryside. - The breakfast at the room is amazing!

Review 9:Can't say a bad thing about the place. Everything met our expectations

Review 10:Can't say a bad thing about the place. Service was excellent, meals out of this world and very pet friendly. Our dog enjoyed the spacious grounds which were right behind the hotel

Review 11:After paying 215 euros (plus 4 euros each for the two dogs), no tea or coffee facilities in the room - we were more than disappointed to receive an email the day after we left telling us that we would be charged a further 2 euros for taking the bottle of water provided in our room with us when we left at 0545hrs. No room service at that time! This really was petty and really took the shine off our short stay there.

Review 12:The room wa lovely, as was the amazing bed-a great nights sleep. Staff did their best to accommodate our early arrival and early departure. The Chateau and grounds were beautiful.

Review 13:The only slight drawback is the distance from town. Only about 5 miles but a car is a must.

Review 14:Everything about this hotel was wonderful. The service, the comfort of the room and bathroom, the beautiful grounds and views from the gardens were all perfect. The cuisine here is absolutely amazing.

Review 15:Nothing.

Review 16:Bulliliant dinner. Nice view.

Review 17:The wonderful food, amazing fusion of flavours all served by charming, friendly and knowledgable staff.

Review 18:no lift

Review 19:the terrace and garden

Review 20:Location, parking, restaurant, room, personnel, everything top.

Review 21:We opted for a more reasonable room as we are at the end of a long vacation- and splurged on the incredible meals here. The room is small but very comfortable. If you have a bigger budget- go for a larger room ... If not don't worry you will be extremely comfortable and have a great experience!

Review 22:We did not realise how isolated it is and that you require a car to get around. We were located downstairs and it was noisy and no privacy as the path went by our room and people looked in. You could also hear the staff in the kitchen and the restaurant toilette was located across the corridor from our room.

Review 23:We went to the restaurant on two occasions and the food was beautiful. The staff was excellent and very helpful.

Review 24:However, we got this time a very small room with an even smaller bathroom. Very disappointing. The biggest rooms are fabulous but smaller (and cheaper) rooms are to be avoided. No point to stay in such a refined place and sleep in those closets

Review 25:Auberge Basque is greatly located among the Basque Countryside. Magnificent rural views. Such a nice country

Review 26:location a bit difficult to find. winding drive from St Jean de Luz high season price steep

Review 27:beautiful room, gourmet restaurant--local products, quiet setting, wonderful experience over all

Review 28:Room small for the price and floor pea entry wet. Slate floor so does not dry.

Review 29:Good staff and food.

Review 30:Our room was simple, clean and good taste while the restaurant was excellent. Especially, the dish of pigeon was very nice!!

Review 31:Gourmet food - expensive menu, not for the backpacker/traveller.

Review 32:It was central to all that I was doing so suited my purpose.

Review 33:Dining experience Staff helpful location relaxing

Review 34:Friendly with first class food and interesting design features.

Review 35:Very good taste. Reasonable price.
