Reviews for The Ship In Dock Inn
Review 1:The tv needs a signal booster to provide a better range of programs. Our second night was rather noisy due to a celebration going on until the early hours
Review 2:An interesting old and historic inn. We enjoyed our short stay in Dartmouth, a town we know well.
Review 3:The room was a little cold
Review 4:Really good breakfast and very comfortable bed. Nice atmosphere on NYE in the bar downstairs but it's much less 'pubby' than we expected.
Review 5:The carpet on the stairs and in the room was a cream colour and needed a clean ( should of been a dark colour ) .Walls had some sort of ink marks down them and needed painting. Music playing in the bar until 11pm vibrated to bedroom. Breakfast had to be taken outside when coming from the kitchen to the dining room.
Review 6:The location was great for the centre of Dartmouth . Bed , sheets and towels all clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice.
Review 7:A couple of small things marred it. No warning was given that the room was not serviced daily so no cartons of milk were left or cups washed that first day and when we got back at night the pub was shut so no one to ask for more. Breakfast was served in a cramped room off the bar, very basic facilities and not a full range of choices e.g. Ran out of white bread. What was served was freshly cooked and tasty.
Review 8:The room was well furnished and very clean. The bed extremely comfortable and bathroom excellent. Staff were very friendly and happy to be helpful. It was good that we could have our well behaved dog with us and have a key to come and go as we pleased.
Review 9:Breakfast arrangements might not be so good in winter - breakfast comes down the stairs then enters the breakfast room via the street! Decor could do with a bit of refreshing in places.
Review 10:Spacious bedroom and ensuite bathroom with very comfy bed, downy duvet and lovely pillows all in very soft Egyptian cotton covers. Fabulous view of the river, boats, ferries and trains from the window and the bed itself! Shower & bath fab with loads of hot water on demand.
Review 11:the almost completed luxury apartments over the road didn't give a sparkly first impression.
Review 12:nice big bath for after SWcoast pathway walk! nice big breakfast for the next leg. great Indian Restaurant recommended. fantastic art galleries near by.
Review 13:Wi fi reception was not good but this is not the fault of the property owner.
Review 14:Everything.location close to attractions and shopping.very easy to walk everywhere. Staff friendly and very helpful.clean comfy. Food fantastic value. Great place to stay.
Review 15:I would have liked an easy chair to relax in - nowhere to just sit & relax, but that was due to it being a small inn with no sitting room.
Review 16:Overall as small hotels/Inns go it offered everything one would expect. Friendly staff, very clean & comfortable & well located.
Review 17:didn,t have any thing to complain about
Review 18:The location was great , parking was great with parking pass provided by landlord. Room was very comfortable but could have been a little cleaner , landlord and staff were very friendly . excellent breakfast .
Review 19:Only access to room via stairway. Noise from Gulls anbd restaurant patrons at night,Premises rather dilapidated.
Review 20:Great location - proximity to riverside and town. Helpful and friendly staff including owner, Kevin. Very accommodating.
Review 21:Room was dirty One cup and spoon were still dirty from the previous guest (not washed) Bathroom window was disgusting Taps needed at least 5 turns before there was any water coming out No real coffee for breakfast only hot water and nescafe.
Review 22:Breakfast orders should be written down to avoid bacon on the vegetarian's plate. That said my breakfast was very good.v
Review 23:Proximity and staff friendliness.
Review 24:Just a small issue with the wifi.
Review 25:We stayed only one night on our way to Cornwall, we loved the location, close to the sea and all the little streets with the lovely shops. Very friendly staff, we enjoyed the breakfast, our dog loved the sausages:-)
Review 26:Large block of flats being built in front so view from room ruined - see photos!
Review 27:The Inn is well situated away from town centre; very nice room and bathroom; pleasant helpful staff.
Review 28:Couldn't access my emails as wi fi didn't work most of the time we were there (4 nights)
Review 29:Superb lication ...quiet but right near he centre. Nice sized bedroom and great bathroom. dissappoibted as had troubles with wifi but lanclord did try and solve . friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast!
Review 30:When I walked into the bedroom I was shocked at the state of the walls which were cracked all over . Big stain on carpet and a broken blind. I know it's a old building but it really does not look attractive.
Review 31:Close to town centre and very helpful staff.
Review 32:Excellent location and lovely freshly cooked breakfast of our choice. Would definitely stay again. The place will be even better when all the redecoration is complete but that didn't put us off our stay. Was a great weekend
Review 33:Unusual little place, obviously under refurb but spitting distance to shops, lovely staff and if like us with no need for materialistic faff,a simple, warm place to stay..perfect! Lovely bathroom,oh so comfy bed and a v tasty breakfast..
Review 34:First impression a bit off-putting, with building site next door but it didn't affect our stay. Pub was about to be redecorated so should soon be looking smarter.
Review 35:Friendly staff, comfortable room, good value for money.
Review 36:Stayed here for 2 nights whilst dropping my son off in Dartmouth at BRNC. Lovely welcome and rooms clean and confortable. Small restaurant but food was excellent both for dinner and breakfast. Looking forward to returning in March!!
Review 37:A bit of noise from the pub below, but not too bad, and it didn't go on late. The breakfast room was icy cold.
Review 38:Friendly staff, good location, comfortable room and bed, fast free wifi in the room.
Review 39:Perfect position beside the park and the river, very close to all the town centre attractions and the ferries. Lovely bedroom and excellent, well-equipped bathroom. Though this is a pub B&B our room was quiet - and the food and drink were great!
Review 40:Hospitality was excellent staff very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble very homely atmosphere excellent views of the river dart from room.
Review 41:The lack of dedicated parking although we didn't have a problem as it is late in the season.
Review 42:We had a super room overlooking river Dart and the park. The en-suite was excellent. Although the inn was busy with locals watching rugby and football the soundproofing in the room was excellent. The owner Kevin was exceptionally good and the restaurant, although small, was homely and the food was excellent although the choice of menu was small. This is an ideal place to stay for a short break.
Review 43:Good location ,rooms and bathroom clean ,staff were so friendly the breakfast was amazing don't be put off by the stairs to the rooms they could do with a paint brush but it's worth it for the stunning views over the estuary .we will stay there again definitely
Review 44:Free parking on the promenade just 50 metres from the Ship In Dock Inn. However, I did visit Dartmouth in November so cannot comment on parking in the height of the summer tourist season.
Review 45:No complaints.
Review 46:Kevin, the owner was a great host and the locals were very friendly too. Breakfast was superb. King size bed was very comfortable, great night's sleep. Big bathroom and lovely views of the River Dart ....until they complete the flats next door and ruin part of the view. Deffo would go back.
Review 47:Nothing
Review 48:The staff were so attentive and friendly, they made us feel more like friends staying over instead of paying guests. You could not ask for better service. Rooms were immaculate and fresh. Breakfast was great. We would thourally recommend this establishment, we are also going to book again possibly taking our daughter and grandchildren. Wouldn't look any where else.
Review 49:The communal areas of the inn need a makeover and the bar is very small and lacking ambience.
Review 50:Location-central & views over Dart estuary Cosy room Excellent bathroom Good breakfast
Review 51:The drive after leaving the A38 to Dartmouth is a bit tedious. Used to enjoy it as a Sunday drive when we lived in Plymouth in our younger days.
Review 52:For scenery and if you re into boats, this must rate one of the top, and we were there in mid October. In summer and during Dartmouth week it would be wonderful if you book early enough.
Review 53:Difficult to sleep with light under the door ( picky but I need dark) could not find Wifi despite many attempts
Review 54:Easy atmosphere, nice room, fab bathroom and lovely view which we know will be compromised soon. Kevin and his team were very friendly
Review 55:The staff were friendly, great breakfast with a great view and probably one of the most powerful showers I've had in any hotel. Very good value for money.
Review 56:Stairs need to be used with care.
Review 57:Location, close to river and short walk to centre of town. Large comfortable room, en suite bathroom, excellent wi fi connection at all times. Pub, well kept ales.
Review 58:Steep stairs to room
Review 59:We stayed here in August for a three night break. The pub bar and dining area are small and cosy. All the staff we met on our stay were very friendly and helpful. There are only four bedrooms which are approached by steep stairs but our room was very spacious with a large en suite bathroom. From our window we had good views over the estuary and the walk to the centre of town was only a couple of minutes. Whilst there is no parking on site we were given a town centre car park pass for the duration of our stay which is a definite bonus in Dartmouth during the summer. We left our car in the car park and travelled around the area by steam train, ferry, boat and bus, all of which can be done very easily - buy a combined ticket at one of the many booths along the quay. We are happy to recommend the "Ship" and would stay there again.
Review 60:Needs some TLC which new owners are doing
Review 61:Location could not get much better for the cost. Food very freindly Good shower Good towels Good bed and linen
Review 62:whats not to like.for the price it was top.
Review 63:clean,comfortable room with nice bathroom. good views of park & river. good choice for breakfast.friendly attentive staff.
Review 64:Really enjoyed our stay here. Great location just 2 minutes walk from harbour, comfortable room with all the facilities you need, very friendly and helpful landlord and staff, and last, but definitely not least, a great full english breakfast. Definitely hope to come back.
Review 65:Having to leave!
Review 66:The welcome, the attitude and helpfulness of the owner and his staff. Local information was always available and spot on for what we wanted and the breakfast ............... well, what can I say. It was fabulous, cooked to order exactly as we asked for it.
Review 67:We were welcomed by friendly staff, and our room was comfortable and clean with a great view of the river. The breakfast here was so good that we thought we'd try an evening meal too and we were not disappointed. We can personally vouch for the pizzas which were lovely, but all the food we saw taken to other tables looked amazing too. Thanks to Kevin and his team for helping to make our short break so enjoyable. We will definitely be back!
Review 68:Could do with a little renovation in the rooms, but this wouldn't stop me staying there or reccomending it to anyone.
Review 69:I loved the B&B, a perfect place to stay for a long weekend, friendly staff, lovely food, a very short walk to get to the centre and a lovely view of the river.
Review 70:The overall decor could do with a freshen up but I believe that this is something that the new landlord plans to do soon.
Review 71:The staff were very friendly and obliging and made us feel really welcome. Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked with good quality ingredients used. Parking although a few minutes walk away was free for the length of our stay which was a definite bonus as all parking seemed to be short stay only and expensive. Good shower in the bathroom and good quality bedlinen on the beds. All in all a lovely place to stay.
Review 72:The only negative was the building work next door, which when finished will restrict the views or the river dart.
Review 73:The staff was excellent , room was good ,food was very good lovely place
Review 74:nothing
Review 75:Wonderful location, room was very very good and bathroom was especially spacious. Parking was free in the nearest carpark and all the staff including the locals were most helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 76:Nothing to coment
Review 77:Charming and pleasant hotel with small Pub and restaurant in a old historic bulding; good and substantial English breakfast; dainty homemade pizza; friendly and helpful staff
Review 78:I had booked this place for myself, partner and elderly mum in law for a long weekend trip. I hadn't realised when booking that there were a flight of stairs to the bedrooms which made it almost impossible for mum to get up them due to her mobility problems (my fault entirely for not thinking of this when I booked). The owners were wonderful when we explained the accomodation was not suitable and they phoned round to other B&B's to find us another room with flat access. I can't thank them enough for their kindness.
Review 79:Not a problem for us but steep staircase to bedrooms could be difficult for those with mobility issues.
Review 80:Really good location, right on the harbour. Very helpful staff and excellent breakfast. Had a good value break and lots to do and places to visit.
